At first glance I thought it was a younger picture of Lisa Bonet.

Emma,Xander and now Zoe? I am all for a fresh face or 2 but slow down B&B! And contract? Lets not dump our vets! The show is only 30mins!

I agree. Quinn and Eric are AWOL. Thorne is on a bit more now, but why is he involved in Hope’s line? I guess she’ll put Emma’s nose out of joint.

I think Kiara’s eyebrows are too much and takeover her face.

Never heard of her. I hate when they bump up the teens for summer. Use the characters already on the canvas. Where are Quinn and Eric? Shouldn’t Quinn be involved in Bill using and dumping her son, Wyatt????

I’m all for this. I love when they use fresh faces and stories during the summer. If they didn’t, it would be the same old merry go round with the vets.

I agree. How many viewers under 60 care one whit about great grandpa, Eric? How many times do we have to pretend that Bill is still a stud and Brook is still a femme fatale? It’s freaking absurd. My objection to the newbies is where is Nicole? Why didn’t they just write for her? She is talented and familiar. We don’t need Emma nor, this new girl. And give Carter a story! I don’t care about this new guy. Nobody on the current writing staff has enough skill to make these new characters compelling before the audience they were hired… Read more »

I, for one, care many “whits” about Eric and I’m sure many others do. Makes no difference to me how old he is; he’s the heart/head of Forrester. Miss his presence on the show and hope he’s back soon and featured more often.

I’m speaking of viewers under sixty. Actually advertisers who pay to keep these shows on the air are the ones who don’t care what anyone over 49 thinks.

I’m way under 60 and I like him. And there are many viewers who like Laura, Scorpio, Anna, Monica, etc on GH; Anna and Laura are near 60 and Monica and Scorpio are over 70. Eric on B&B is a great character. And while I think “Bill” is an egocentric narcissist, he IS still hot, Brooke is still quite attractive, etc. These shows are at their best when they have characters from different generations as they’ve always had since their inception. As for advertisers, they always want to attract younger demographics… in prime time, as well. And yet prime time… Read more »

You make good, valid points. I maintain my views but respect yours.
I’m frustrated with the writing more than anything. The casting and who tptb chooses to showcase is secondary to the fact that the stories are lousy.

Thank you, Soapluv for your reply. Just to clarify; I’m not against new characters or younger characters. I just always have an issue when people think people are too old…in any capacity. And as I said (and, yes, this is subjective) I enjoy characters of all ages IF I like the character and the story.

As for B&B, I agree. Some of the stories are lousy or just repetitive. I wrote that to Rose several comments below.

Here’s hoping it picks up and that we have our soaps on for quite a while to come!

Thank you for the cordial exchange. 😉

Who? Oh yeah. Tis the season. Bump up young kids for the summer at the expense of the vets.

Gone by September.

I’m going to assume she has a past with the new British nephew/intern, Xander. Can’t tell by the picture: is she old enough to be his mother? Not liking any of it. So let’s see; they got rid of Rick (recurring), Thomas, Zende, Nicole, RJ, Cocoa, the Spectra’s (though Sally’s back), Eric and Quinn are barely on, Charlie’s barely around…what’s left? The entire “clan” is gone and we’ve got two new interns in place of RJ and Cocoa and now another newbie. Also think “Emma” needs a bit more acting experience; and don’t get me started on Sheryl Underwood. WHY… Read more »

Rebecca1…Agree…hoping this is just the lazy, summer interlude storyline, and will be over shortly. About the only thing I like is that Sally is back. I do like her with Wyatt. But enough kissy stuff. Let’s get Sally creative again. And enough of Hope/Steffy/Liam/ Bill.

Hi, Rose. Well, it’s a month since I posted that and to be honest, I’m enjoying this new character Zoe! She brings a weird, funky, interesting vibe. “Emma” (the actress) needs more experience; Xander is a cute addition. I agree about Sally. Love that she’s back but not if she’s just going to be in the background. Somehow without her own company, her “gram”, Saul, Darlita; just not the same. I love Sally and don’t they should have gotten rid of her in the first place; just hope they don’t waste the character. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen… Read more »

Rebecca1…I think Zoe does have an exotic air about her. I don’t particularly like the character, but she is really interesting and shakes it up in an otherwise same-old, same-old B&B. I do like how she can hold her own/dominate a scene even with the more experienced actors around her. Quite a feat for a summer newbie. I’d like it if Sally and Wyatt decided to start their own offshoot design company, and bring the rest of Sally’s “family” back? My thoughts on the B&B characters…is it my imagination that they have to work with less established, major actors than… Read more »

Hey again, Rose. I’m not sure about your question. Did you mean that the established, experienced actors on B&B have scenes with less experienced actors or that the actors in general are less established, experienced. If it’s the latter, no; I don’t think the B&B actors are less established. Most of them are from other soaps and are excellent in their own right. If for some reason they were off B&B I’d love to see any of them on GH. And, of course, we can’t compare shows or cast. B&B is only a half hour and they have a much… Read more »

Rebecca1…My question really isn’t very clear. you know, mixing up one word when you mean another can make a big difference! It should read ” they have to work with “fewer” than “less” established major actors than on GH.

Ingo Rademacher Speaks Out On His Dismissal From GH Sharing: “I Was Hoping to Play Jax For Another 10 or 25 Years and Unfortunately, That’s Not Going to Happen”

For the first time since he was fired for not adhering to General Hospital’s and Disney/ABC’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate, Ingo Rademacher (Ex-Jax), addressed his exit from the soap opera via an “official video” message on his Instagram account.

Ingo expressed: “I’m sorry that I didn’t put out this video earlier, but this is about thanking you guys, the fans of the show and also the GH crew and cast. I was on the show for 25 years. They were like my family a lot of the people there. I was hoping to play Jax for another 10 or 25 years and unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I want to thank you guys for sticking with Jax for 25 years and I’m sorry that I’m not there anymore to play Jax, which is still something that I am trying to process  … it’s just kind of crazy.”

Rademacher also took aim at his former co-star, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) for announcing on Twitter that he was no longer on the show, before he had a chance to do so, which he says was a huge disappointment to him given that they worked together for 25 years.

He went on to say how he appreciated all the positive comments from the fans adding, “A lot of you come on there to say that you’re vaccinated but stand for medical freedom, I love hearing that, because I believe it should be a choice.”  Ingo continued to express his view, “I don’t agree with vaccine mandates or corporations ever being able to mandate a vaccine to keep your job.”

The actor closed with another nod to the viewers of GH adding, “Thank you so much for supporting me for 25 years. I will have more news later on, but for now, just wanted to thank all of you amazing fans. Thank you.”

You can watch Rademacher’s full statement via his IG post below.  Then, let us know what you thought of Ingo’s long-awaited exit message in the comment section.

OLTL Alum Arlene Dahl Dead At 96, Son Lorenzo Lamas Shares: “She Was The Most Positive Influence In My Life”

Another loss for the soap world and its extended family.  Arlene Dahl, who had a notable career in film and television, and who appeared on both One Life to Live and All My Children, has passed away at the age of 96.

Her son, former Falcon Crest and The Bold and the Beautiful star, Lorenzo Lamas (Ex-Lance and Ex-Hector, respectively), shared the news via his Facebook page: “Mom passed away this morning in New York. She was the most positive influence on my life. I will remember her laughter, her joy, her dignity as she navigated the challenges that she faced. Never an ill word about anyone crossed her lips. Her ability to forgive left me speechless at times. She truly was a force of nature and as we got closer in my adult life, I leaned on her more and more as my life counselor and the person I knew that lived and loved to the fullest. My sympathies go to her loving husband @marcrosennyc who, for the last 37 years, made her life so wonderful and joyous. Love you mom forever ♥️ #ArleneDahl #Moviestar #legend #mom #RIP”

Dahl came on to One life to Live as Lucinda Schenk Wilson, the selfish and manipulative mother of Mimi King played by Kristin Meadows.  Arlene made appearances on the ABC soap starting in 1981 and eventually was offered a one-year contract that took her through till 1984. A decade later, Dahl came on to play Lady Lucille on All My Children for a short time.

On One Life to Live, Arlene mixed it up with Phillip Carey’s Asa Buchanan and Jeremy Slate’s Chuck Wilson.  Dahl is also well-known as one of the regular panelists on the game show, What’s My Line?

While still working in TV and films, Arlene branched out into beauty and cosmetics, eventually becoming an executive and beauty columnist.

Throughout her life, Arlene was married six times.  She had been married to Marc Rosen since 1984 and they remained together till her death.  She is survived by her son Lorenzo, two other children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

As the World Turns and Guiding Light Favorite, Lisa Brown, Passes Away at 67

(UPDATED) In just more heartbreaking news in the soap world in 2021, we have lost another beloved performer.  Lisa Brown, who was so noteworthy for her spunky and emotional turns as Guiding Light’s Nola Reardon from 1980-1985, and later as Iva Snyder on As the World Turns from 1986-1994, has died.

Brown passed away this week on November 24th at the age of 67 following a brief illness.  The news came via the As the World Turns Facebook Fan Group and Soap Opera Digest.

This comes just two months later following the death of her former on-screen love interest Michael Tylo (Ex-Quinton, Guiding Light), who passed away in late September.

Those that followed Lisa’s career know she also starred in the Broadway Musical 42nd Street, while still playing Nola each and every day on Guiding Light.

She is survived by her children: James “Buddy” Nielsen, and daughter Victoria from her first husband Tom Nielsen (Ex-Floyd, GL) in addition to her two grandchildren, Penelope Ruiz-Nielsen and Brayden Hopf, and her second husband Brian Neary.

Brown’s on-screen ATWT daughter, Martha Byrne  (Ex-Lily) simply tweeted, “My heart is broken.”

On Friday, Lisa’s son, Buddy Nielsen, posted a touching tribute to his mother, where he revealed that she passed away due to cancer.

Buddy shared: “My Mom passed away the day before Thanksgiving after a very quick battle with cancer. This all happened really fast and wasn’t expecting it. I’ve been MIA as I’ve been back and forth between LA and NJ as she has been in and out of the hospital the last couple weeks. This dream we live, we are all subject to the suffering, aging and death. It’s not to be morose but to understand that we have finite time and must take care with what we do and how we do it. To be able to be with someone at their last breath is truly beautiful. We must not fear death as without it we would never be born and experience the 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows. Our existence is both small and vast all at the same time. We are tiny but immense. I know she is here but no longer in her physical form, what we do in love we leave in death. My beautiful daughter and unborn son are her legacy.”

Share your condolences to Lisa’s family, and let us know of your remembrances of this wonderful actress who gave us so many memorable moments throughout her career via the comment section below. But first, watch Lisa in some of her classic scenes from ATWT and GL.
