What another fun shocker from The Bold and the Beautiful!  At the end of Tuesday’s episode viewers noticed a young red-headed woman writing a check and signing it with the name “Sally Spectra”! Was it an homage to the character and the late, great Darlene Conley?

It’s one better, make that four better, because TV Insider revealed the scoop that the show, about to embark on its 30th anniversary season, has brought back a whole slew of never-before-seen Spectras!

Leading the way is Courtney Hope (Transparent) who plays the central role of Sally.  Brad Bell (executive producer and head writer, B&B) revealed, “The new Sally we just met on air is the original Sally’s grandniece and Shirley’s granddaughter.”  In addition, Shirley is Sally’s sister played by Emmy winner and daytime soap favorite Patrika Darbo (Ex-Nancy, DAYS).  Alex Wyse (Spring Awakening) will play Saul, the grandson of Sally’s lifelong tailor, Saul. Darlita will be played by Danube Hermosillo (Modern Family).  She is the next gen’s Darla!

As to the characters story and how this new Spectra clan will fit onto e canvas, Bell dished, “Our new Sally has hopes and dreams of being a designer. The old Spectra Fashions brick warehouse is about to be hit by the wrecking ball—Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) wants to tear down the building and put up a skyscraper—but there’s a Hail Mary pass. We’re bringing back Mick Cain, as Sally’s son C.J., who owns the building. Mick has no interest in the fashion business but now he has a relative who is hot to give it a shot, so he’s going to let young Sally have the building for six months. She has very little time to make a go of it, but this is her opportunity to make Spectra Fashions shine again. And the original Sally is backing her from afar.”

As to if this foursome will plot and steal designs from Forrester Creations like the Spectra/Forrester showdowns of the past, Bell teased: “They will definitely play dirty. Young Sally wants this company to be legit but, right away, the decks are stacked against her. As with a lot of people who come to Los Angeles with lofty ambitions, reality will come crashing down. Both she and Shirley come from nothing. Shirley, who worked for years in a bakery, raised Sally when her parents flew the coop, and together they’re a tough, determined team. And they’re broke.”

Patrika Darbo is a great choice. She was an interesting offbeat villain on “Days” when her character was introduced. I just wish the show hadn’t killed off Darla’s daughter. She would be a great addition.

Is Sally (the character) still alive?

Yes Gerry, Sally Spectra character is alive. They should recast Sally with Robin Strasser ex Dorian OLTL, she would be terrific in the role. Patricia Darbo is a talented actress and I will watch her in her new role.

Or recast Sally Spectra with Kim Zimmer, former Reva Shane on Guiding Light. She could play a sassy and brassy Sally, imo.

I don’t foresee them recasting Sally Spectra. That would be an insult to Darlene’s memory, and would be a complete mess. The reception would be horrible. No one could portray the bigger than life, deep-voiced Sally like Darlene did during her lifetime.

Finally– the show was missing something for ages without a true rival designer house — although I don’t think it was necessary to recreate all the same names as the original Spectra threesome– unless they are planning on recycling old scripts and this will save them from reprinting them-LOL

I used to love the rivalry between the two designers. B&B needs some changes. Same old characters and same stories over and over. This is long overdue. P Darbo reminds me of original Sally. Same type.

This is a great shocking twist in the tradition of B&B but giving the next generation all the same/similar names is a bit much. Sally, Saul and Darlita?!? I would’ve loved to see Bobbie Eakes back… Maybe as Shirley’s daughter?

I love Bobbie Eakes, the lady is a wonderful actress and singer. I miss Macy so much, maybe Days or Y&R can hire her.

Give it time-there is a good chance that Macy could be back with us. Thorne is still around and I always thought Thorne and Macy were soul mates. Let’s just get this new blood settled in.

I agree that giving them all the same names are a bit much.

I love Patrika on Days so happy to see her on B&B.

I guess it’s good to have another storyline, family. We’ll see how it goes. Maybe Thomas will defect and return to Spectra. Didn’t he design for them once before?

Will be interesting. ……anything but that sorry “trio”….

That seems like a whole lot of characters to introduce all at once — especially for a half hour show.

I like the idea of the Spectra gang but to hope the story is good. Don’t just bring theme onn for fillers.

Courtney Hope is an awesome choice for the role of Sally. She is a strong, talented, proven actress that will make the Spectra’s proud….

This is a great spin on an old tale. I think the show is due for an infusion of new blood. I have been watching for more than a year and the only new character has been RJ and bringing back Ivy. With four new characters, I wonder if Sasha/Zende/Julius/Vivienne will continue to be pushed to back-burner even more.

I was not watching during the Sally Spectra era. I would have loved her over-the-top personality. It is great to see Patrike Darbo cast as a relative. I am afraid “Days” will regret not signing her to a lon-term contract. I would have loved to have seen some scenes with Nancy and Craig.

It will be interesting to see how these young characters will interact with Steffi/Wyatt/Liam. I am also hoping to see how this will impact Bill. I am ready for Ridge to take a break. I am still not buying the Ridge/Quinn lustfest.

Best of luck on the new storylines, to Patrika and all of the other new cast members.

P.S. I love Quinn!

They should have recast, Sally Spectra with Patricia Darbo. Patrika and Sally, both have red hair and are sexy chubby ladies. Sally is away, the character was not killed off. I love Patrika, she is a wonderful actress.

Darlene Conley passed away in 2007, man I miss Sally. She was Dame and loved her acting. They should have devasted Sally with Patrika Darbo, but I wish Patrika good luck on The Bold And The Beautiful.

CJ is back?! And Patrika Darbo? Best news about B&B in a long time! Can’t wait.

Looking forward to seeing what will unfold! Sounds refreshing right now. Maybe, just maybe Wyatt will hit it off with nuSally or Darlita and NOT have her introduced to Liam, LOL!

#FINALLY..but don’t forget your other characters. .and by the way I must say THANK YOU AMAZON FOR THE IRISH SOAP RED ROCK. .IT’S F.A.B. like the reboot of THUNDEBIRDS HEE HEE .

Why couldn’t the new Sally be Patrikas daughter instead of grand daughter? She has a young (currently unseen) daughter, Joy on Days.

I guess because they want Shirley to be Sally’s sister. Although, she could be a much younger sister. And then it gives them more family should they want to call them in.

I love it! Can’t wait for the day when Thomas leaves Forrester to work at Spectra as head designer. They are taking the show back to their “Glory Days” when the Forresters, Spectras, Logans and Spencers ruled. But, they need to trim the cast. As it is, there are many disjointed story lines.
And, BRING CAROLINE BACK. New couples should be Thomas and Sally, Caroline and Rick. Can’t wait for Steffy’s and Liam’s wedding. More Bill Spencer and Katy – their chemistry has always sizzled.

This is welcome news, especially if it means a finish to the endless Liam-Steffy-Wyatt slog and the stupid Ridge bed jumping stories. Really, B&B just see a story through and let us move on to new ones. And have the characters do something.

B&B for a looooong time has missed genuine conflict. The Forrester-Spectra battles in business made for great stories and the treat of fashion shows. The Logan love slog and the repeat marriages/divorces/annulments and such have grown so tiresome.

This is Great News! I miss Darlene as “Sally Spectra”. This will be a nice way to celebrate 30 years of B&B. I’ve watched since day one.

I am REALLY EXCITED about the new Spectr
story line & your casting!! I can’t wait for
the Fire again between Forrester & Spectra!!
LOL! The Liam Steffy & Wyatt Storyline
Is getting soooo OLD!! How MANY TIMES
can they get Married! Wyatt needs a new
Love in his Life that won’t even look at Liam
PLEASE! Hee! Hee! Have A Nice Day!

Just when I thought I couldn’t find the time to add another soap to my DVR, I hear Patrika Darbo, who I loved on Days, will be part of Bold. Guess I won’t be getting much sleep…because I cannot miss her.

Why does Shirley have a southern accent and the other Spectras don’t? I think they should have had Patrika just use her natural voice.

And Sally Sr.’s voice didn’t even sound like her. I guess they did the best they could.

Considering Jackie M was in that building after Spectra, I don’t know why there was Spectra stuff on the walls.

I like the idea but am concerned about these details. Sally, Saul, Darlita??? It is one thing to build upon the recently ignored Spectras. It is another to try to merely recopy what worked before. We’ll see.

I wonder how C.J. Garrison, Sally’s son and, thus, related to these folks, will fit into all of this? Will the show even bother to mention him?

How is that that Sally Jr. has the last name of Spectra? Was Spectra Sally’s maiden name or a made up name? If it was her maiden name, then did Shirley not give her daughter the daughter’s father’s last name? So then that daughter too gave her daughter the Spectra name? Unless Sally is related to Shirley through a male? It is very complicated.

Or did Sally Jr. just take the name?

Family tree and explanation is needed.

I actually hate this idea. The old Sally was way too over the top to be either likeable or believable, and it seems like a desperate ploy for ratings (which they never have had to resort to) to bring this rival storyline back. I think Rick and Thomas should start their own fashion house and keep the Forresters the stars of the show.

I LOVE the new Sally Spectra !!!! The actress is phenomenal !! She reminds me of a younger Heather Tom ! Send Thomas back to NY, he is a bore . She is definitely for Wyatt. She is his female counterpart !! Can’t wait until Sally and Wyatt meet !!!!!!

The storyline and acting seems too forced and the whole seems awkward and annoying. The show needs to stop rehashing old plots and come up new ideas.

Shemar Moore Makes Another Return to ‘The Young and the Restless’ as Malcolm Winters

Published

When Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters) made his most recent on-screen return to his old stomping grounds at The Young and the Restless back at the beginning of April. Viewers also know that it has been teased that he was not done taping his most recent return story arc, and that he would be back to wrap it up.

Circle next week on the Monday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9 episodes of the top-rated CBS soap opera, when Malcolm Winters, who has survived his bone barrow transplant surgery after being diagnosed with aplastic anemia, is back for some important conversations.

This time out, he will reconnect once again with his daughter Lily (Christel Khalil) and is recently discovered biological son, Holden (Nathan Owens). In addition, according to Parade, he will interface with his son’s New York City “travel companion” in Claire Newman (Hayley Erin).

THE LEGACY OF MALCOLM WINTERS

Part of the bigger story is Malcolm’s relationship with his ex Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), who happens to be the mother of his child, Holden. Viewers can look for some unfinished business that the two need to settle in the upcoming episodes. Both Moore and Vivica A.Fox first appeared together on Y&R back in 1994 and then some 30 years later just a few months ago.

Shemar Moore made his debut as the younger brother of the late Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) back in 1994 and stayed with the soap until 2005. A Daytime Emmy win later, and with his first television experience under his belt, Moore went on to major primetime success on CBS’ Criminal Minds. Next, he helped launch and was the centerpiece for S.W.A.T. also on CBS, until it was canceled. Now, he will soon be seen in the new spin-off series, S.W.A.T. exiles.

During a recent conversation for Michael Fairman TV, Christel Khalil shared of working with her TV dad again: “It’s always amazing to have anyone come back that’s been away for a while, but especially, Shemar. It’s all the history with him being Lily’s dad. For me, it’s been 20 years of knowing him. Obviously, I don’t get to talk to him or hang out with him and that kind of thing. So it was just nice just to see him again and have that moment around Neil’s portrait, and to be able to share that together and even talk about that off-camera. It’s just special and feels like family, which is nice.”

So, looking forward to seeing Shemar Moore for a few more episodes as he wraps up Malcolm’s recent story arc and visits with his newly found son, Holden and his ex Stephanie? Do you hope for more emotional scenes that were not played out the first time he was back looking for a bone marrow donor to save his life? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

How ‘The Young and the Restless’ Mark Grossman Almost Became ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’s’ Thomas Forrester

Published

on

By

As initially reported by Michael Fairman TV, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation recently held a live daytime drama casting directors panel which featured: Greg Salmon (The Young and the Restless), Marnie Saitta (Days of Our Lives), Christy Dooley (The Bold and the Beautiful), and Kim Coleman (Beyond the Gates).

The four soap opera casting directors traded behind the scenes stories, their process to help actor’s in the audition process, the most difficult and important recasts to their respective shows during their tenure, and the challenges of casting under-five roles, which surprisingly can harder than finding the series regulars.

When the talked turned to a major recast that Greg Salmon had to find it was to fill the shoes of Justin Hartley who exited the CBS soap to star on the NBC drama, This Is Us.  The role of the black sheep of the Newman clan was previously played by Chris Engen and Michael Muhney, before Hartley. Salmon knew they found their man to be the fourth Adam when Mark Grossman entered the picture.

THE SEARCH FOR ADAM NEWMAN

Salmon explained, “That was a really tough role to recast. Before Justin, there were two other people who played the part. Adam Newman is central to the show. This is Victor Newman’s son, so it’s an incredibly important character. I remember Mark came in and read with Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and a few other members of the Newman family. His energy was just off the charts. It felt like this is how Adam should be. Eventually, I think the audience really accepted him. Mark has playing the role for several (7) years now and he’s completely made the role his own.”

However, in an ironic twist, it appears that Grossman came very close to joining Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful in the part of Thomas Forrester played most recently by Matthew Atkinson, and before that Adam Gregory and Drew Tyler Bell.

THE SEARCH FOR THOMAS FORRESTER

Responding to Salmon, The Bold and the Beautiful ‘s casting director Christy Dooley revealed that Mark Grossman was once in the running for the role of Ridge and Taylor’s son. “He tested for us,” she recalled. “Mark came in and read for the role of Thomas Forrester, and he was my choice for the role,” Dooley shared.

Dooley added, “The role wound up going to Matthew Atkinson. But then Mark came down (the hall) to read for The Young and the Restless.”

Fans of The Young and the Restless know that during his 7-years as Adam Newman, that Mark Grossman has become one of the most popular stars on the show. So it’s difficult to wrap you head around that B&B might have nabbed his first as Thomas, and if so, we wouldn’t have gotten to see him turn out those stellar performances in Genoa City .

So, what did you think of this casting tidbit? Could you have seen Mark Grossman as Thomas Forrester? Glad that Y&R had him firmly as their Adam Newman? Let us know via the comment section and you can check the full daytime drama casting director panel below.

Marc Forget Exits ‘General Hospital’

Published

on

By

The Thursday June 4 episode of General Hospital paved way for the end of the line for Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) butler/fixer, Pascal (Marc Forget).

In the pick of the June 3 cliffhanger, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was the hero and stopped the evil-doer from fleeing Port Charles for his part in aiding and abetting his boss with the cover-up of the murder of Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard) among other crimes.

Today’s episode did indeed mark the final appearance of Marc Forget who joined the ABC soap opera when he debuted back in July of 2025. Viewers met met Pascal when Kelly Thiebaud returned to the soap opera as Britt Westbourne and she was being blackmailed to work on Faison’s final project while at the Five Poppies in Dalmatia.

A General Hospital rep confirmed to Soap Opera Digest, that the June 4 episode, “Will be the last viewers will see of Pascal for now, but notes that in the world of Port Charles, comebacks are always possible.” So, how did Pascal get written-off the canvas? Here’s what went down:

PASCAL GIVES LUCAS KEY INFORMATION BEFORE BEING DRAGGED AWAY

After Sonny intercepted Pascal on his desperate attempt to get out of town, Sonny informed him hat Sidwell would stop at nothing from trying to get retribution for whoever killed his son, Marco, and promptly turned around and said that he would help Pascal flee the country, only if he turned on Sidwell.

An absolutely terrified Pascal had evidence for Sonny that he could use against Sidwell. However, he feared he would get killed on sight if he tried to retrieve the incriminating photos of Sonny and Laura from the safe at Wyndemere. So instead, Pascal gave the combination to the safe to Lucas (Van Hansis), so he could get the blackmail photos himself. But, did Pascal just set up Lucas to be killed since he loathes him for being the man to win the heart of the late Marco?

In the end, Sonny had one of his henchmen drag Pascal away and whisked off to an airfield to fly away to parts unknown, and hopefully never to be heard from again. But what now? Is Lucas going to end up being pegged as Marco’s killer and taken down by Sidwell if he gets his hands on the incriminating photos for Sonny and Laura? Stay tuned.

So, what did you think of Marc Forget’s run as Pascal? Sad or happy to see the character go? Do you think he will be back down the line? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
