B&B’s Don Diamont Returns To Y&R

Photo: Gilles Toucas

He played Brad Carlton on The Young and the Restless from 1985-2009 before being written-off the show and eventually wound up on another Bell family series, The Bold and the Beautiful, as Dollar Bill Spencer.

Now, as part of the Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) feud that is going on from Genoa City to Los Angeles – in a crossover storyline on the CBS sister soaps – Diamont is headed back to his old stomping ground for a visit.

According to Soap Opera Digest, look for Diamont on Y&R the week of February 8th,

Diamont told SOD on his Y&R return, “I had not ever considered that I would be part of a crossover, just because my character was so well-defined at Y&R.”

So have you been enjoying the B&B and Y&R crossover storyline thus far? Do  you think it will be fun to see Don mix it up with some old pals on-screen from Y&R? Comment below.  But first, check out this video released by CBS Daytime of some other crossovers moments over the year between Y&R and B&B.

This is insulting to me. While I may not watch CBS soaps at the moment, due to the huge mishandling by executive producers and head writers, I cannot help but feel insulted by this decision. Wish I could have more excitement over this, however, am not feeling it in 2021. I need to see some real changes behind-the-scenes before I can be excited about crossovers like this.

Don Diamont’s words, to me, read as his way of saying he is still surprised over the decision to kill-off Brad Carlton, and does not want to insult the audience’s intelligence by his making an appearance.

The decision as rumor goes who knows that it was a decision between him or the character of Paul! Paul who is now gone Brad Carlton was a great character but writers after Bill Bell quit writing ruined the character as they have done with almost everyone on the canvas no I read about it once in a while to see if they have come around but no they have not ! I disagree with him I have never cared for the character of Bill Spencer and he has not had a decent story over at B&B how either soap is still on the air tells me they don’t have anything to replace them with or they would be gone ! You have Nick acting like he is still in his twenties and Eric Braeden still has the same storyline over and over is Jack even doing anything! Sad!

Had it been my choice, I would’ve chosen to kill-off Paul Williams immediately.

I am so grateful for a viewer like yourself, Scott—-we have been of a mind so many times before and this time is no exception—I admire and respect your opinion. So, AGREED!! Besides, I am not a fan of Diamont, and most definitely was nover a fan of Brad Carlton—-something about both actor and character turned me off. ( I don’t watch B&B because he’s on it)—LOL–What can I say? We all have our little idiosyncrasies.
Aside—is Camryn Grimes pregnant? Why else go through this drama of “conception” on the show? And why “Mariah” when there are blood-relatives in GC? It’s a thought–

We do have our idiosyncrasies. Trust me, I was not a Brad Carlton fan during his stints, however, in watching over the summer with the classic episodes, I kind of saw potential for the character, and how much he could be benefitted from in 2021.

As for Mariah being the surrogate, it probably has to do with the fact Mariah might *not* have the emotional attachment others may have to carrying a child to-term for Abby and Chance.

Don Diamont is the ONLY reason I watch Bold and the Beautiful.

Aren’t individual likes and dislikes great?? How monotonously droll life would be if we all thought the same thoughts? —albeit, we are slowly getting there.
Be safe!!

Big deal. There’s no story to this crossover. Nothing can ever compare to the Lauren/Sheila saga.

I’m still waiting for Lauren to find out Sheila’s alive and for her to give Eric a smack for not calling and telling her Sheila was back in L.A.

Kimberlin Brown/Sheila is a Republican and in this country now everything is about your politics your race your religion very sad so no Brad won’t be bringing her back it was a joke when he did years ago I as a viewer can’t watch a show enjoy anything without somebody telling me how to think feel etc so yes I decided screw it just stop and yes it’s sad but not the end of the world ! Yes KB could express more with raising her eyebrow and giving you that look then any dialogue

Absolutely, Joel—-no other parody can ever match the dramatic/satirical writing of the demented, passionate, at times morbidly humorous scenes of “the Lauren/Sheila saga.

Please let him cross paths with Tracy

90% of the viewers don’t even know who Brad was, a worthless cross over much like Eric’s visit to Niki and Victor’s wedding.

Hahahahaha, you sure about that? Educate yourself on the history, Matthew, because I would wager you are, in fact, wrong.

I’m in my early thirties, matthew, and I know who Brad is!! —–been watching since I was in diapers.

I can’t wait!

The current Y&R/B&B crossover lacks sparks. There has not been enough slow burn and rationale for a Summer/Sally feud> I think we needed more reason for this to mushroom as it has. I never liked that Y&R so misguidedly killed off Brad and Colleen. Anyway… I lime Don Diamont and his B&B Bill Spencer character. There should be so much more done with Bill but B&B is written so LCD. The show could have such fire with him and Katie, yet they write him to moon over Brooke or Steffy. Sigh.

Please have Bill bump into Tracy.

Why? Bill is not going to magically turn into Brad Carlton whoever he was.

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Byrne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Byrne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

So, what do you think about Lane Davies returning to GH to play an attorney in Alexis’ orbit? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
