Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) has a host of new circumstances to get to play with over at The Bold and the Beautiful! Chief among them is that the CBS soap brought back the character of Ridge Forrester in the form of Thorsten Kaye. As fans know, for 25 years Katherine played opposite Ronn Moss in the role.   Secondly,  B&B head honcho Brad Bell is mixing up the love lives of not only Brooke and Ridge, but Katie (Heather Tom) and Bill (Don Diamont) as well! And as previewed this coming week by CBS Daytime, Katie and Ridge admit their love for each other!  Will Brooke be the odd girl out?  Or, will she land back in the arms of Dollar Bill Spencer?

In a new interview out from Soap Opera Uncensored, Katherine shares her thoughts on how she thinks Thorsten is doing in the role of Ridge, and what she thinks Brooke’s reaction would be if Katie and Ridge hit the sheets! Here are a few excerpts below.

Katherine on if she thinks Thorsten as Ridge is a hit with the audience:  “I think it’s a hit.  He’s bringing something completely different. Different energies, different things for all of us to work off of. He’s kind of turned into the catalyst in the Forrester world, with work and relationships. It’s kind of interesting. It’s nice to have something new to work with. And, of course, Thorsten is amazing. He’s such a great actor. I like the rough, rugged feel he has going. He’s great. “

Katherine on what she thinks Brooke’s reaction to Katie and Ridge sleeping together potentially would be: “Oh, I think Brooke will know she had it coming! She’ll probably have to accept it without much complaining.”

So, what do you think of Thorsten as Ridge Forrester?  Do you hope Katie sleeps with Ridge and Brooke gets some payback for sleeping with Bill?  Let us know!

Should have replaced him with another walking pretty boy, lacking acting talent. This Ridge just isn’t right, too old looking & scruffy.

You actually wanted someone who can’t act taking over the role? Seriously? Thorsten Kaye looks a lot younger than Ronn Moss and he can act, very well. I think he’s done great in the role so far.

I like Thorsten, too.

And he’s 100x better looking than Ronn Moss.

My only complaint is when his Irish accent comes out. 🙂

Jimmy…yes…thank you!!!!! AGREED!!!!! And, as far as I’m concerned, Thorsten Kaye is a WAY BETTER actor than Ronn Moss. Yep.

Thorsten Kaye just turned 48. Ronn Moss turns 62 on 3/4. He was only 7 years younger than John McCook (Eric). Thorsten is a lot younger than Ronn. He can also really act. He’s taking Ridge in a whole new direction and I for one hope that is the direction of Katie. He’s also a great actor.

Well put Susan – think Thorsten is doing a great job – love this Ridge and am enjoying them pairing him up with Katie.

Timothy Adams would have been a better recast.

Anyone else notice that Bill Bell choose rather phallic sounding names for his make characters? Ridge? Thorn? At least there is no one named Dick.

Jimmy is right. First, Thorston Kaye not pretty, Jo-Jo? Rubbish! He’s the Irish Spring of soap hunks–manly yes, but women like him too. To enhance his rugged good looks, he’s an incredibly talented and charismatic actor capable of emoting nuances and conflict with a mere expression. Suddenly, Ridge is not just a walking life size Ken doll, and we get why women are constantly fighting over him. I love that suddenly Ridge has an Irish accent and that his clothes are on the shabby and un pretentious side. In a sea swell of plastic one dimension phonies, Ridge suddenly stands out as his own man. Jo Jo, you couldn’t be more wrong.

I just looked it up–Thorston Kaye is 48 while Ron Moss is 61! The latter party has had so much plastic surgery he’s starting to look like Bruce Jenner.
Also, I need to correct myself–Kaye’s accent is British, not Irish as I previously stated. as he was brought up in England. I must have confused him with his character Patrick from OLTL.
Also, he is a Shakespearean trained actor–daytime is lucky to have him.

I think you hit on one key thing, for sure, Harry: it’s much easier to understand why women would fight over this version of Ridge.

Too old?? He is 12 years younger than Ronn Moss!! I can accept this recast because they are writing Ridge as a completely different character. But I still maintain…and I was the first one to say it publicly…way before Ronn ever even thought of leaving…that Grant Aleksander would have been ideal! Same height, same lean lanky physique, same bone structure. The difference is that Grant is a phenomenal, layered, nuanced actor. It could have been awesome. And if KKL ever left…which is doubtful…Beth Chamberlin could replace her. It would have been brilliant to see two really outstanding actors play, and make sense of these roles.

I said the SAME thing!!! Grant Alezsander would have been a PERFECT Ridge!!!!!!!!!

Thorsten as Ridge has been amazing, I couldn’t have asked for a better casting. He’s changed the role and him completely different, and I’m loving it. The pairing with him and Katie is making so much sense right now. He’s making Ridge more mature and loose, rather than an up-tight Forrester.

the pairing of katie and ridge makes NO sense..if you follow the show’s history…its ridiculous and I fast forward..boring already…

Thorsten Kaye is exceptional. Such class combined with rugged sexuality. He and K seem like a perfect fit. Not that it’s right…but if it happens, yeah I’d say go for it. I know I would !

He is hot and that accent just makes me shiver all over. oolalal

Tracy…I feel the same way…LOL!!!!!

I love Thorsten as Ridge, he brings something new young and fresh to the part. He brings new energy. Like Y&R is about Victor and Jack and there lives and family and company. This show will be about Bill and Ridge and there lives and family and company and I love it.

Thorsten Kaye is a marvellous actor and has taken the character of Ridge to a totally new level!!! He is the reason why I tuned on again! He and the actress who plays Quinn have brought so much fresh air to the show 🙂 bring back Felicia or send her to Y&R!

Yes, I love Rena Sofer as Quinn, and I like Darin Brooks (Wyatt) too. But Thorsten Kaye has been great as Ridge, I like the character SO much more than I did when Ronn Moss played him. I couldn’t stand Ronn’s acting, but TK is very talented and bring a different spin on the character which works really well, especially with Katie. I hope they end up together and let Brooke be alone for a LONG time.

I agree with everything you said. I think Rena, Darin, and Thorsten are great additions to the cast.

why should Brooke Logan be alone for a long time? after all, she is the Center of the show..no, she will take this craziness with her sister and widge, but she will always have a man by her side..She is the sexy siren..enough with the Brooke has to pay!!!..she’s paid especially, if they do kringe..which sorry, I am not a fan of..all it is to me is katie with a new character..not ridge

I think Thorsten Kaye is beyond awesome! I’m a long-time fan of his from his Zach Slater days on AMC & Patrick & Ian Thornhart before him, so I’m a bit biased, but I absolutely love the guy! His voice is what first drew me in & continues to work it’s magic! I actually gave up watching B-B aft 20 + yrs to watch TK on AMC, so I’m back watching again because of TK! I’d follow him anywhere on any show!

I absolutely adore Thorsten Kaye’s portrayal of Ridge Forrester. The character got a much needed personality upgrade when it was recast. We are very lucky to have the gorgeous and very talented Kaye in the role! Also loving Ridge & Katie together!

TK is doing great! He isnt Ronn Moss, quit expecting him to be.

I don’t understand why people expect him or want him to be in the first place. Just my opinion, but Ronn was a much worse actor. TK is doing great as Ridge.

I agree! TK actually makes Ridge interesting.

Ridge & Katie are sick & boring together. They not working for me.

totally agree with this post…I think they are boring already…

I totally agree with this post too! I just can’t see TK as Ridge. It’s like the character had a total personality transplant. Arg….

Katie gave Bill to Brooke she threw her marriage away & cried Wolf too many times. Katie deserves to be alone for all she done Bill & Brooke weren’t even considering anything between them until Katie push them together so what did she expect? Paring Ridge with Katie is a big mistake she only bring Ridge down plus the pairing is boring together. Bring back Bridge. Or just kill off Ridge once & for all. Why did Mr. Bell bring Ridge back? If he wasn’t going to do Bridge again?

Couldn’t disagree more. TK and HT have mad chemistry, and are bringing a fresh perspective to some fairly dismal writing. I hope Bridge are done, because they’re tired and empty and over. I adore TK, I think he’s fabulous as Ridge, he’s the reason I started in again with B&B. Bell and co are probably clapping their hands in delight at the success of the recast-and the way the story is heading. He should be-any show who gets TK is damn lucky.

I only started watching this show when Ridge was gone. I like the new Ridge but I love Brook and Bill. They should be together.

I ❤️ TK!! Watched him on OLTL, AMC, SMASH, and was thrilled when he came to B and B to take the role of Ridge!! This is a Great re cast and a Ridge and Katie pairing seems like a wonderful idea to me…. Very adorable, cute, and sexy! This is just what B and B needs!!

OMG, yes, yes, he is fantastic !!! TK has rescued the sinking boat BB !!!!

sinking boat? r u kidding me? when was B&B sinking? LMAO

Yes, sinking, because CBS has the contract with Bell only for one year extended – other soaps for several years. I speak as big BB fan ; but for me, was the year 2013 – quite boring!! Sorry, my opinion!!
Nice day!!!

Love the new ridge and Heather Tom is great with him they are beautiful together better I hope Brooke gets Bill back , Kelly and Heather are great together.
I hope they could work things out I miss the love of sisters they had together.

I have watched B&B since the beginning, but this is the first time I have seen TK in a role. The jury is still out on the actor in this role IMHO. I think TK should have been brought on as a new character, since it is obvious he was brought on for HTom’s Katie and not KKL’s Brooke. OTOH … with a new character they couldn’t have ended Bridge (Brooke/Ridge) and made it all about Katie getting her angst ridden revenge on Brooke, right? Whatever. I never want to see Bridge (Brooke/Ridge) resurrected again, enough already. Besides, the new super couple of B&B is Brill (Brooke and Bill) and now they can be together guilt free! Can’t wait.

I hope Katie and Ridge go all the way so Brooke will go straight back to Bill her true love.

I like tk as ridge. I would love it if he and Katie got together. then brooke can get back with bill where she belongs.

TK is doing his usual good job but I wish he had been cast as a new character. So far there isn’t much about nuRidge that reminds me of the Ridge I’ve watched for years. That’s more about the writing than it is about TK, can’t fault him for that. I’m not on board the Katie/Ridge train, but it is going to happen. I’m not convinced that Bradley Bell will write a story for any couple where they’re allowed to be happy for very long, but if Brooke can move on and stop begging Ridge to love her, it would be progress. Sounds like KKL is more than ok with Ridge and Katie being paired together. Hopefully Brooke and Bill will reunite soon.

I don’t say this often: Brad Bell was right. He was hoping Thorsten
Kaye would win over Ridge fans with his acting chops (a not-so-subtle
dig at the previous actor who played the role) but the recast wouldn’t
have been successful without the writing to support it. I didn’t
think Ridge has another dimension after all these years but Bell’s
writing and Kaye’s acting have proven me wrong. The product is
so much more enjoyable when good writing is married to good
acting, IMO. Kudos to Bell for finding his new muse.

Thorsten Kaye took over a role that was played by Ronn for 25 years. I see him as Ridge with all the history & baggage that goes with it. I don’t get how some can say just because he has a new face they can ignore all the history that comes with Ridge & Brooke & Bridge to support Ridge & Katie. Ridge will always find his way back to Brooke. And Katie will be left alone & heart broken yet again. But I won’t feel sorry for her since she knows the history of Bridge. Katie herself even said she didn’t want to be with a man who was thinking of Brooke. Maybe Katie sees the new face & thinks he is a new man. Like most of the Kridge fans are doing. Good Luck with Kridge because your need it.

Thank you!! Well said!! Ridge and Brooke are ENDGAME so enjoy Kridge while u can bc it won’t last!!! Katie will lose, just like Taylor did!!!!

I personally liked Katie with Bill. There was a lot of comedy in this pairing, because she kept him in line and he responded to her like a naughty little boy who knew he’d done wrong. I loved it. Really sorry Bell broke them up, because Brooke and Bill for me are just flat. The same as Ridge and Katie are together. Very flat mushy mills and boon stuff. Not half as interesting. Ridge and Brooke are far more compelling together and have too much history to throw away.

TK is doing a “Fantastic” job a nu Ridge! Never liked Ronn Moss in the role. RM lacks acting talent!

I like the actor, but I personally never see Ridge when he is on screen. In my mind he is a whole different character whose name happens to be Ridge. I am not complaining because I like him and I like pairing him with Katie, yet I think it would have worked just as well if they brought TK on as his own character and not a recast Ridge. In my heart, RM is Ridge and as always will be– but that is just me— it has got nothing to do with TK, he’s great, but he ain’t Ridge.

Totally agree he is not Ridge you notice he has had no scenes with his children. But then again there was never a Bill Spencer Jr./Don Diamont the only Bill Spencer was Jim Storm who had one daughter Caroline his pride and joy she died of cancer. The actress decided to come back zoom the long lost twin routine Karen Spencer. Then we do a 180 with her character and make her a long suffering closet lesbian with a daughter. Brad Bell was going to make ground breaking storyline on that one 14 episodes later Karen was gone.

A few weeks ago I was having lunch with some girlfriends we were sitting at the bar Bold & The Beautiful was on the flat screen one of them had not watched in months did not know who TK was. He was reading poetry and when she found out he was the nu-Ridge she asked if the character had recently undergone a lobotomy we all exploded into laughter.

I love and adore Ronn Moss and he is and always will be original Ridge! I dont watch anymore.

I hadn’t watched a soap opera since the late 90s when I was a teenagers and used to spend summers with my grandma. On one of the many snow days we’ve had this year, I saw B&B out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised to see the new Ridge. He can act and brings new depth and dimension to the role. I watch it online now and largely focus on his scenes. It’s nice to see two good soap actors like TK and Heather Tom portray a well-acted, romantic story. It’s still a soap and the story lines are ridiculous, but TK and Heather Tom do a terrific job.

i like Katie and ridge to be together, look how brooke did her sister and bill to me pay back is hell but Katie loves ridge, just like wyatt and hope aly and liam needs to be together, plz hope is so happy with wyatt

Ronn Moss’ Ridge should have been retired. Brad Bell insulted him and his work for 25 years. Shame on him.

Ronn Moss’s Ridge is retired. This is Thorsten Kaye’s Ridge.

I always thought Ron Moss was kinda whimpy, TK is awesome as Ridge, love him an Katie togeather. Payback is hell Brooke

Best recast B&B did by placing Thorsten Kaye in as Ridge. Amazing Actor and the chemistry of TK and HT is smoking hot. I am looking forward to seeing these two together.

Cannot stand him. He looks sloppy & not groomed. I didn’t like Ron Moss that well, but he was clean & well dressed as you would expect for Beverly Hills & fashion

I love it! Ridge feel more well rounded and smart now. The casting is a win-win for the show. In terms of character development and in terms of acting. I know a lot of people only focus on triagles/ couples etc but Thorsten Kaye has chemistry with everyone. He and John McCook is on foer in their scenes as him and Jacob Young. I want more scenes with the Forresters. And the Ridge/Bill rivalry got more meat now.Love it.

I feel bad for Brooke Ridge always hurts her but I have to say if Ronn was still here this would not happen but this ridge is so different. Still out on if I like him or not. Just feel bad how everyone picks on Brooke. Katie is no saint. Don’t know if I like them together or not. I think brooke will go after them in one way or another and she will be right to do so. After everything they said about her look what they did to her

I love TK, but this isn’t Ridge. He’s a great addition to the cast, but should have been a new character, not a recast, and definitely not of Ridge. The Katie/new guy pairing could have made sense, but I can’t get behind Katie and Ridge, no matter whose face he has. History doesn’t go away just because the actor does. That said, I do adore TK and wish him all the best.

I love TK as an actor, I stopped watching AMC yrs ago but I saw him on Smash & I loved that show..I think he is doing a great job as Ridge..The man has so much class & so debonair…I, like some wish he was his own actor & not as Ridge but I still enjoy him so much..Love it when he Is on screen…I almost stopped watching until he came on B&B….

Sorry, I forgot to say I also love him with Heather Tom who is my favorite actress along with Quinn who makes the show more exciting…So tired of Brooke!!!!

Brooke is the center of the show..she will always be the center.

More and more, I think that Thorsten Kaye and Heather Tom are BEYOND MAGICAL together on-screen!!!!! Also, Don Diamont and Rena Sofer…another on-screen couple with AWESOME CHEMISTRY together!!!!! As for, um, Brooke…she needs to be without a man for a while. Brooke is WAY TOO slutty, needy and annoying. And, besides, Katherine Kelly Lang deserves WAY BETTER material on-screen!!!!!!

I actually find the opposite, that Katie has managed to make a TK character rather dull. He’s a vibrant actor who deserves better than hand-holding the constant sad, put-upon victim. I’d like to see him go toe to toe with Quinn, someone with spunk and energy he can play off of, and who might put that sparkle back in his eyes. Besides, this whole sister swapping has got to stop. It’s disgusting.

I totally agree, I am done with family doing family. The writers has got to come up with something more than this. It’s sad that a team of writers cannot come up with a man other than the husband or cousin or half brother or sister. I am sick of the sickness.

Thorsten Kaye, as the new 10.0 Ridge, has brought B & B into a whole new league ! He and Tom , together , ooze sensuality !!!!!! They are so captivating . B & B has always been seen a Y & R’s “little sister soap”,..it’s a new day on CBS Daytime !! Now, with the chemistry of Tom and Kaye…the sky is the limit !!! It doesn’t get any better than this !!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not like him as Ridge. Need to clean him up he looks messy and dirty. Ridge would never look like that Shave and a shampoo and hair cut would help. Otherwise he is an great actor.

you know im a fan of the first dallas i even have the cds but i think bobby and pam were better

TK is a great actor, and I love the change in Ridge. Just don’t think he and his former sister in-law should be a couple. Besides, he’s going to break her heart when he goes back to Brooke, ’cause Ridge always goes back to Brooke.

I like this guy better as Ridge than Ronn Moss (he can’t act). His chemistry with Katie is undeniable and it is about time Brooke paid for her sins. Whether she is with Bill or single, I could care less. But Kridge and Hott are the new supercouples of the show.

kringe is no supercouple..they r already boring..katie is a whiney shrew and ridge is a new character..he’s NOT ridge, that’s for dam sure..and I am a day one fan..kringe suck

If they put Brooke back with Ridge I will stop watching this soap. That is so old and boring. Katie with Ridge is why I’m still watching, that and the whiny Liam is out of the picture.

I think Brooke will use the legal papers she has kept from Dollar Bill (remember Katie had processed) of her taking over the Spencer Publications? She still has them in her possession and Bill asked for them? Anyone remember that? I do….I think she’ll hold that over Katie….. if you leave Ridge, I’ll give you the legal papers back…. if not, I hand them over to Bill and we take revenge on you!!! Anyone want to comment?

I agree Lia, Ridge will go back to Brooke, as he’s done in the past with Taylor…. they needed a new storyline similar to Ridge, Brooke and Taylor, now it’s Ridge, Brooke and Katie!!! not so sure I like this, but heh, I watch it every day, so……. On another note, I want to see Liam tick off Hope and find a love!!!! Hope is such a bitch!!!!

Omg I can’t stand the new ridge! And him with Katie is ludicrous. ….bad idea yucky… and gross….

When the new and improved Ridge came back he out grew Brooke. He talked like he had marbles in his mouth. He is better now and he seems likeable with Katie. The writers came cause us love any actor. Liam needs to grow up and Eric needs to hang onto the company if he thinks Ridge can is able to fire people he has no authority to do that. I hope it gets settled a bit. I like Quinn she is nice to look at but creepy. Just because its been this way or that doesn’t mean it can’t change. The writers can make that hsppen. Keep watching

I think he would be more acceptable if he got a decent hair cut and shaved his face. He looks dirty.

I’ve never really been into watching these ‘soaps’ on tv. My mum just loves B&B. I can’t even call her when it’s on! But I’ve just starting watching it since the new ‘Ridge’ came along and Im hooked! I never liked the old one or his pathetic acting ability. Thorsten Kaye is a Great actor! So refreshing! Can’t take my eyes off him! He is very very handsome too

Just happened to be flipping channels and so tk in b&b my favourite actor love him as an actor very sexy and his voice makes me quicker, so happy I can get to see him again

Thorsten is a terrible hire. The guy has greasy long hair, deer in the headlights eyes/acting, and most of all, you can’t understand him. He’s supposed to play a character the was raised in California. TK’s German/English BS is wrong. TK doesn’t even try to sound ‘Cali’. Ronn Moss ‘over-acted’ all of the time, spreading his legs when he spoke, but he was Ridge. Could someone else play Ridge, yes, but not Kaye. In the world of Soaps being canceled, this is the best Bell could do? This won’t be good for anyone with this in-audible Mr. Mumbles as Ridge. This is ‘Cali’, not Berlin.

Please keep TK he is amazing. I will only watch B&B if he there. He was wonderful in AMC. I’m in love with Zach Slater. Maria RSA

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.
