BETTER BREAKING NEWS: Slezak, Easton, DePaiva, King confirmed with OLTL when it moves online!

Great news today for One Life to Live fans!  The best of the best, Erika Slezak (Viki), the 40 year star of the series has agreed to stay with the series when its launched online via Prospect Park in 2012!  According to Deadline.com, in addition to Slezak, two other fan favorites, Michael Easton (John) and Kassie DePaivia (Blair) have also agreed to be part of the new venture.  And relative newbie to Llanview, but not to soaps, Ted King (Tomas) is also reportedly in!

Prospect Park issued this statement below on the deal with the first quartet of actors to come with the show when it heads to the web:

Official Statement: “Pending a final agreement with AFTRA, Prospect Park has confirmed that One Life to Live cast members Ted King (Tomas Delgado), Michael Easton (John McBain), Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer) and star of stars Erika Slezak who plays Lord family matriarch Victoria Lord, have agreed to deals to join the company’s new production of One Life to Live. This marks the first confirmation of cast members since Prospect Park began planning for the soap production to live on the new online network beyond its finale January televised date on ABC.”

The importance by the way of Prospect Park closing a deal for the actors with American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, is it will then enable the studio to sell a second window of One Life to Life to cable network.

Clearly with Erika Slezak in place, the shows high-ratings, the purchase of the sets ( as we have already reported via Jerry verDorn) and some of these other key members signing on, there should be not much doubt that One Life will be given a great opportunity to succeed on online!

On-Air On-Soaps will also continue with key updates on this developing story!

Now all they need is the fantabulous Robin Strasser!!! :o)

YES!

Very happy to hear that PP has gotten several OLTL returns. We need Strasser back!

They need Robin Strasser, Jerry Verdorn, Florencia Lozano, Kim Zimmer, Tuc Watkins, Illene Kristen, Bob Woods, and Hilary B Smith AND They NEED AND DESERVE TO BE ON CABLE TV!!!

Amen!! I think most will follow, now that they have The Star of the show, Ms. Slezak….and I hope that OLTL ends up on Cable Tv. It so deserves the opportunity.

Erika Slezak is a team player! Not like Susan Lucci who won’t be going with AMC because of all her demands! Now all we need is a cable channel to pick it up!

I hope it works for OLTL fans I just won’t be watching I just cannot sit in front of a computer for an hour so hopefully you guys who can will keep me up to date!! Good Luck OLTL!!!

This is fantastic news! All the best for the OLTL actors, crews, production teams! I WILL be watching when they and AMC go online in January.

Thank goodness they’re staying with the show! 🙂

Without a cable deal it is all a waste of time and money.

I hope it goes to cable also. But I agree that Strasser needs to be on there. I hope Tuc Watkins and Kim Zimmer go on there also. I also think the actors who play Natalie, Brody, Todd, Tea, Dani, Starr, Jack, Sam come also. I’d like to see Kelly come back (with better story)

Class acts. Fans went to a lot of trouble to keep these people employed and these guys deserve a round of applause, unlike Susan Lucci.

Glad to hear that some of my favorites have already signed on, hopefully that is the start of many more to come. I look forward to remaining an avid fan of OLTL!!!! Thank you Prospect Park, and I hope this is something Brian Frons will end up regretting letting go of, something tells me he will.

Great news. I think alot of other actors who play Clint, Bo, Nora, Rex, Jessica, Natalie,Todd and Tea will hopefully follow and continue on. I believe they will get picked up by cable if loyal viewers follow to the online version. Robin Strasser and Gina Toginoni need to come back too.

So glad that Kassie and Erika are the first ladies of Llanview. They are the heart of the show. I hope RH, Robin, and all of the Buchs , Cramers and Mannings sign on next.

Such a wonderful contrast compared to the report concerning Susan Lucci. This is a great start, but please Prospect Park, continue to resign the other significant actors to reunite the entertaining ensemble that makes OLTL. Thank you–Slezak, DePaiva, Easton, King–for agreeing to return.

I think it’s great Sleazak is giving Prospect Park a shot. But even with several key members of the cast, who is going to write the show? OLTL head writer is with GH now. We all know the actors can’t do it alone. It depends what you do with the cast. I haven’t seen anything about who the write or produce the show. Doesn’t that count to?

I am ecstatic to hear that MY faves will be joining PP! Thank you, Prospect Park, for purchasing our soaps and thank you Michael, Kassie, Ted and Erika for joining PP! Now all I need is MA(Melissa Archer) to join Michael and PP so my Jolie can still be seen!!

is there any chance this show can still be saved by internet, cable, or another network, and is not is there any chance we can ever buy the episodes on dvd. thank you linda otey

Writers Strike Comes to an End; Leadership Votes To Conclude Work Stoppage

It’s over! After 148 days, the 2023 Writers strike will go down as the second longest in WGA union history, only a labor stoppage in 1988 was longer.

The strike will officially come to end on Wednesday at 12:01am PT.  This was due to a vote from the guild’s leadership that now has authorized its over 11,500 members to return to work.

That means: pitching and selling scripts, taking meetings, responding to notes, writers’ rooms opening up again, and more, can now restart.

The WGA committee shared that the vote, “Allows writers to return to work during the ratification process, but does not affect the membership’s right to make a final determination on contract approval.” However, WGA East and West voted unanimously to lift the “restraining order” on Tuesday.

As the negotiators shared, the end of the strike doesn’t mean that the tentative agreement that the union reached with producers on Sunday night is a surefire thing: Union members still need to vote to ratify the contract. Union leadership announced on Tuesday that will take place between October 2nd and October 9th.

However, SAG-AFTRA still remains on strike. So, even with the writers returning to work, many productions can’t move forward without their principal actors and performers.

So soap fans, how do you feel about this news for your favorite shows? Glad that the head writers and their writing teams will be back at work as soon as this week from Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful? Y&R’s Josh Griffith, who previously had gone Fi-Core during the 2008 strike, remained at the top rated show during the last several months.

It’s Official! Former AEW Champ Jade Cargill Signs with WWE

All the reports and the rumors have been confirmed. Former AEW TBS Women’s champion, Jade Cargill has signed a new multi-year contract, but with rival WWE.

Cargill, who was AEW’s longest-reigning TBS champion and wrestled her last match on AEW TV programming just two weeks ago, started with WWE on Tuesday at its Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

In her first interview since joining WWE, Cargill spoke to ESPN and shared that a decision has already been made if she will go straight to the WWE main roster, or if she will first perform for its developmental brand, NXT.  Jade teased that fans are just going to have to stay tuned to see just how she will make her arrival.

In AEW, Cargill was a force to be reckoned with having held the AEW TBS Championship for Cargill for 508 days. She lost the title back in May of this year, and had been off AEW TV for quite some time, until a few weeks ago when she lost her final match to Kris Statlander.

Cargill, 31, has been wrestling professionally for two years. She has close ties to Cody Rhodes, who Jade admitted in her chat with ESPN, was one of the top two reasons she came to WWE.

AEW CEO and Owner, Tony Khan was asked about Cargill’s exit during a media call on Tuesday. Khan shared that he wished Jade all the best in her future and said he has nothing but positive things to say about her. Khan added Cargill would always be welcome in AEW.

Check out Jade’s first interview since becoming a top signing for WWE under their new umbrella TKO Group, below.

Now let us know, who do you think Jade will have her first feud with in the WWE? Do you think she has found the perfect fit for her talent in WWE? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
