‘Beyond the Gates’ Jen Jacob’s Husband Posts Heartfelt Message on Her Booking the Role of Ashley Morgan on New CBS Daytime Drama
2025 is set to bring with it the most exciting development in daytime dramas in 25 years! That’s when CBS premieres the new soap opera, Beyond the Gates on February 24th.
One of the actresses who is part of the ensemble cast is soap newcomer, Jen Jacob, who has been a working actress for quite sometime and like any performer has gone through the ups and downs of auditioning and looking for a big break. No one would understand this more than her real-life husband than singer/musician, Jesse Ruben.
When the casting news broke that Jen would be playing the role of Ashley Morgan, the character description said that she is, “Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne’s (Arielle Prepetit) best friend. Ashley is a single mom who’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves. She is a nurse at Washington D.C.’s Garland Memorial Hospital. Ashley is positive, resourceful, and independent. She can be serious but is also fun-loving with a smile that lights up a room.”

From Jen and Jesse’s Instagram posts they packed up their lives in New York City and moved to Atlanta, where Beyond the Gates is being filmed. However, in a very touching and inspiring message, Jesse shared how proud he was of his wife amid the struggles of show business.
Jesse began, “It is a relief to know that sometimes, the universe gets it right. Being a musician can be brutal. Anyone who has done it for a long time will tell you that. But what actors go through? So much worse. The amount of rejection, having to pick yourself back up again and again and again, being at the mercy of so many people you will never meet, almost never getting feedback, it is absolutely cruel. And through it all, for almost 20 years, Jen has handled all of that better than anyone I could possibly imagine.”
He went on share the moment that Jen learned she landed the role on Beyond the Gates, “When Jen got the call that she had booked this, I cried happy tears for the first time since our wedding day. To witness the moment she achieved something she has wanted since the time she could walk, to finally see all of her hard work and grit finally pay off, to be reminded that good things DO happen to good people who deserve it. And to know that this is just the beginning for her. I could not be more excited for her, and could not be more proud of her.”
Jen’s biggest supporter and love of her life, concluded his message with, “Beyond The Gates will start airing on CBS in February. You’re gonna wanna watch. I saw an interview once where Ryan Gosling was describing trying to be a professional actor. And that when you have that dream, you never know if it is your destiny or delusion. Jen, thank you for the reminder that our dreams are never a delusion.”
Throughout Jen’s acting career her resume has included roles in the Netflix movie, The Union, plus role on Bull, Blue Bloods, New Amsterdam, Girls, and Law & Order: Organized Crime to name but a few.
Jesse and Jen were married in 2018, and before they tied the knot, Jesse even wrote a song called Future. You can watch the music video for it below.
Now let us know, what did you think about this very proud husband being so happy and excited for this big moment of success in Jen’s life? Are you looking forward to seeing her in action as Ashley Morgan in less than two months on Beyond the Gates? Comment below.
