‘Beyond the Gates’ Set to Air Week of Encore Episodes

Next week, CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates serves up a week of repeats to shed the spotlight on some recent major episodes, in case you may have missed it, all before the 4th of July holiday weekend.
This is not the first time the newest network television soap opera on the block has aired a week’s worth of encore presentations. However this time, the episodes focus on the fabulous Cotillion storyline which is juxtaposed with the blood plasma ring warehouse shakedown which saw Derek Baldwin (Ben Gavin) get shot and eventually die.
Also included in the week is Grammy and Tony Award winner, Jennifer Holliday making a guest appearance on the soap, and singing an original song from the series musical supervisors team during the Duprees Easter brunch, and more.

Take a look at the rundown of what you will see next week on Beyond the Gates below.
Monday, June 29
The Duprees get ready for Samantha’s cotillion. Jacob meets with Ren. Ashley is in a panic as Grayson prepares for the worst. Bill questions Hayley about her past. Lia puts Derek in the hot seat.
Tuesday, June 30
Grayson completes his assignment, but then all hell breaks loose at the warehouse. Samantha and Jessica make their cotillion debut while Nicole has to deal with an emergency.
Wednesday, July 1
Someone dies while a Platinum Deb is crowned. Vanessa questions Joey about the chaos of the evening. Tyrell and Jessica slip away for their first time together.
Thursday, July 2
Special Guest Star Jennifer Holliday sings for a friend. Nicole takes Kial to her family’s Easter brunch. Ted advises Carlton. Anita puts Anastasia in her place. Hayley feels like an outsider in a sea of Duprees. Grayson receives a threat. Naomi and Jacob find a way to connect.
Friday, July 3
Naomi and Jacob spend their anniversary apart—both remembering their love story from first date to wedding vows. Izaiah helps his brother out while Naomi leans on Ashley, Dani and Bill.
Beyond the Gates returns with all-new episodes starting Monday, July 6 where it will pick up right from where it left off following the Friday, June 26 cliffhanger.
So, from the encore episodes listed, which are you are you most enthused about seeing again, or do you wish there was no break from traditional all-new episodes? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
I think CBS is making a mistake doing this to a predominately black soap. All of the other soaps are new all week. The holiday isn’t even until Saturday. It’s not a good look for the network!
It has to do with their episode order and nothing to do with it being a predominately Black soap. They only got 238 episodes this year, which is 12 less than the typical 250 order, so like 2025 (only 200 episodes produced), we have planted preemptive weeks, usually during lower-viewership weeks (e.g., holiday weeks), to supplement the fact they are not producing a full episode order. Next year, they will be producing the usual 250 episode order.
The problem is these weeklong breaks disrupts the shows ratings momentum. The ratings were going up every week and then you have a week of reruns to stop it. I wish the powers that be would consider putting new shows on for 30 minutes during the holiday break instead of showing reruns. It would keep the audience engaged and keep the momentum going.
While I understand that, unfortunately, the shorter episode orders were due to it being a new American soap opera trying to establish itself and to help the actors become acclimated to the speed in which American daytime soaps are produced. Putting on a show in replacement of Beyond the Gates would be dumb for the network. That would tank the serial. Ratings for Fourth of July week are historically lower, any way, so that’s why they have chosen this week for the repeats. And given the increase that was had through the crossover, this is a good way of showing those newer viewers some past episodes. CBS is not going to sabotage the only soap opera they have a financial stake in.
I was thinking maybe they should consider showing new episodes of Beyond the Gates for only 30 minutes during these periods. CBS usually broadcast the US tennis open during the summer and that means fans should be prepared for yet another summer break.
Again, they do not have the content for that. They’re only producing 238 episodes, which means there are 12 episodes not being produced for the full amount a calendar year receives. Pre-emption is the only option; there is likely to be one more pre-emption sometime this year, likely occuring during Labor Day (week of September 7) And as far as I know, the only sports-related pre-emption that classifies with March Madness.
Don’t forget to include Thanksgiving and Christmas College bowl season. I get it soccer, March madness and the bowl season ratings are very lucrative but the soaps (all of them by the way) are treated like the unloved stepchild in terms of preempted coverage and BTG as the new kid on the block is getting treated like the newbie rookie. I say this as a fan of all the soaps. Could it have been too hard for the network to tell the audience two weeks ago they planned to go on break? I think it’s a crappy way to treat people who support their shows on a daily basis.
The UEFA Champions League is not considered a network preemption, so those do not classify towards preemptions. Networks don’t tell two-week in-advance premonitions, and even if they did, people would still complain about it. Again, these are being done due to episode order. In 2027, these week-long breaks will likely not occur, as they will be producing a full year’s worth of episodes (250).
2025 only produced 200 episodes, and they’re only producing 238 this year, to allow for cast and crew⏤many of whom are new to the medium⏤time to fully adjust to the rigours that the American daytime medium calls for. It’s smart of them to do this.
The only days in November 2025 Beyond the Gates did not air a new episode on November 10, (Veteran’s Day tie-in); November 26, 27, and 28 (Thanksgiving holiday); and December missed only three episodes: December 25 and 26 (Christmas holiday) and December 31 (New Year’s Eve holiday).
Again, the network is not going to sabotage the one soap they have a financial stake in. If they were, they would not have given them a two-year renewal or produced a massive tornado episodic crossover event.
That’s so true. It feels like the network id trying to slow down the show’s momentum.
Not true in the slightest, Renee.
I don’t think this is true! Why would this and Facebook be the only place it’s reported?!?
Haha, if you’re relying on Facebook for your news, then that’s unfortunate. It is true, though. This upcoming week will be the repeat episodes, as Michael Fairman has outlined. I doubt he’d lie about something like that.
I totally agree. I understand all the rationales stated as to why there will be reruns this upcoming week. i also agree that it does interrupt momentum. Regardless, I will watch as soon as new episodes return.
obviously the reasons given for programing reruns are logical, but unreasonable. And the reason that I find it unreasonable is because it’s for an entire week of programming. When you have a daily soap with a continuing story and you doing their audience to stop for five days from now… It’s unreasonable and you run the risk of losing the audience. In this case, it will be nine days of missing this story offered by the soap. At this point, the programming station doesn’t care! And it’s shows… You keep showing the other soaps… Why? Big questions, especially in this case a ‘Black Soap’… You’re disregarding the viewership… So be honest!! Disregarding the viewership your disregarding the show itself! Not fair, and it’s obvious to Us viewers!;
To be honest I welcome the break. Following 4 soaps without fast forwarding I need a break every so often…
Those episodes, especially those about the cotillion, were excellent. So much so that I have rewatched them on Paramount Plus. However, I was looking forward to seeing the new episodes.
really disappointed in the reruns. don’t even want to wait for them to continue with the real story if they take it off the air its their own fault. don’t need to waste time on the same crap i already saw!!!!!!!!!

‘Beyond the Gates’ Tamara Tunie Shares Bittersweet Moment of Learning She’s a Daytime Emmy Nominee Following the Loss of ATWT’s Scott Bryce

As many are celebrating their nominations for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30, for some it was a “mixed bag of emotions,” as detailed by first time nominee Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree, Beyond the Gates), who was named as one of the five women in the coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress category.
The Lead Actress nominations were actually announced on Monday on Entertainment Tonight, ahead of the full nomination announcement by NATAS on Tuesday. Sadly, on Sunday night, Tamara’s longtime friend, and former As the World Turns co-stars, Scott Bryce (ex-Craig Montgomery) passed away from cancer at 68-years-old.
Michael Fairman TV first reported the heartbreaking news of Scott’s death, and his beloved son, Jackson took to his Instagram to announce the death of his father, sharing, “What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him.”

THE LOSS OF ‘AS THE WORLD TURNS’ CO-STAR
Tamara spoke on receiving the recognition from peers while mourning the loss and trying to process the news of Bryce’s death via heartfelt message on her Instagram on Wednesday. Tunie had appeared on As the World Turns as Jessica Griffin from 1986-1995, 1999-2007 and 2009. She crossed paths with Bryce during several of his runs on the show 1982-1987, 1988-89, 1990, 1993-94 and 2007-08.
In her video message, Tunie explained she was at the airport in Atlanta (where Beyond the Gates is taped) and was heading to Pittsburgh for a speaking engagement, but she took a few moments to address these two moments in her life.
Tamara began her video with, “Hey family. I didn’t want to let any more time go by without expressing some of the emotions I had been feeling over the past couple of days. Many of you know that a dear friend of mine passed Sunday night. He was like a brother to me. We were friends for 40 something years and we actually met on the set of As the World Turns, a daytime drama. Monday, a mere 24 hours later, it was announced that I was nominated for an Emmy award for Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama.”
Sharing how the loss of Scott Bryce has deeply-affected her, Tamara added, “So, you can only imagine the rollercoaster of emotions that I have been feeling since Sunday night. I know my daytime soap opera brother is smiling down on me and cheering me on, and I am so grateful for this recognition from my peers. Being nominated for the first time it’s a mixed bag of feelings I have to tell you.”

BEYOND THE GATES FAMILY SCORES BIG IN EMMY NOMINATIONS
However, Tamara took some moments to recognize Beyond the Gates Emmy nomination haul, expressing, “I’m looking forward to the next couple of months leading up to the awards as we continue to create great television. I am so proud of the rest of my cast members, not only those who are nominated, but every single person who works on this show and gives a hundred percent of themselves every single time they show up. Our crew, our production staff, the Beyond the Gates family is truly special.”
“To have these 15 nominations is really extraordinary. Thank you family for watching. Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for supporting me,” concluded Tunie.
