BEYOND THE GATES: What Were Your Impressions Following the First Week of Episodes?

It’s official! Beyond the Gates has started its run as daytime’s newest soap opera and got off to quite the start culminating with several Friday cliffhangers leaving viewers waiting to find out just what went down. In it, we saw Dami Dupree (Karla Mosley) take out a small pistol and interrupt the nuptials of Hayley Lawson (Marquita Lawson) to her ex-husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett).

In the final moments of the episode, when the minister asks if anyone objects to Hayley and Bill tying the knot, under her breath, Dani says she does. Next, she proceeds to pulls the gun from her purse, gets up from her seat, and aims at Hayley. We hear that shots are fired as the episode came to a conclusion.

There is now much speculation as to whether Dani actually pulled out a gun or could she be imaging the entire scenario in her head? After all, she has been having a very difficult time coping with the fact that Bill dumped her for the younger Hayley and then to make matter worse, the couple intend on moving into their new home in Fairmont Crest, which shows further disrespect to Dani and the Duprees.

Dani has had quite the week: throwing bitch-slaps, clearing office desks with a golf club, throwing a drink in Bill’s face, pleading with him to take her back, then hitting the sheets with photographer, Andre (Sean Freeman), trying to manage her daughter Chelsea’s (RhonniRose Mantilla) fashion shoot, and much more.

Meanwhile, we learned that Martin (Brandon Claybon) has a secret involving someone or someones being shot or killed, Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) trying to keep the secret under wraps, no thanks to Bill. Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin’s relationship is possibly blowing up with secrets and unrest of their own.

We met Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), who took a little motorcycle drive and pushed young Laura (Destiny Love) off the road in her car, in order to take her out, so Leslie’s revenge plot on Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole (Daphnee Duplaix) can take place, by now having Eva (Ambyr Michelle) take Laura’s place as Nicole’s assistant. Later, Laura and Eva celebrate that soon Eva will be close to her father … Ted!

In addition, there was Andre at the hospital while speaking with Ashley (Jen Jacob), they both get into an elevator with a pregnant woman, who as the elevator comes to a sudden halt, the pregnant woman’s water breaks. In true soap fashion, that will leave Andre and Ashley stuck together (who we know have the hots for one another, even though she is with firefighter Derek) to probably give birth to the woman’s baby.

We wanted to give you, the viewers, a chance to get a grasp on all the new characters they met this week inside and outside the gated community of Fairmont Crest, plus some time to delve into the storylines that kicked-off the first week of action on the first new network television soap opera in over 25 years, before getting your opinions thus far on Beyond the Gates.

I love this show! Karla Mosley is showing what she could have done with her character on B&B, if she was allowed to. She would have given Steffy a run for her money in the bitch department! Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis are perfect as the heads of the family. Bill, the perfect villian. You know that someone eventually will try to take him out.

Mixed for me. I love Tamara Tunie as Anita and Mike Manning as Bradley (“Smitty”) and I like very much Clifton Davis and a few others. I absolutely love that a gay male couple has teenage children – I have read a lot of comments they seem too young but one of my best friends has a teenaged son and he is only 34 (his son is 17). How old is Mike Manning in real life?

I find most of the characters dull though and Karla Mosley’s woman scorned can become tiresome if she doesn’t have other colors and positive attributes.

I found myself completely riveted whenever Tamara Tunie or Mike Manning were on my screen; otherwise I was often bored. It reminded me of the excesses of 1980’s primetime soaps combined with the excesses of Passions, Santa Barbara and Sunset Beach.

New shows take time to find their rhythms and I am willing to continue to watch the show but for me it is mostly for Tamara and Mike.

Yes, it takes a while for a shows audience to grow. I think Karla Mosley is portraying what it feels like when your partner of 30 years, dumps you for a younger person. You do wanna bitch slap somebody! I think it has a lot of potential and it has a chance to grow.

Mike Manning barely had any interactions or real dialouge, not sure what was so captivating about him, haha.

I like it much better than I ever expected. I especially like Hayley, Nicole, Leslie, Mona, Laura, Eva, Vernon, Martin, Smitty, Ted, Bill, Andre, the realtor, and the two new characters on Friday. Not sure i like the Anita character; perhaps too much like Mrs Chancellor or Stephanie Forrester.

The casting is brilliant. I love the intrigue and the fast pace. The modeling scenes are the only parts that are a bit boring but Dani helps to keep them interesting. I often watch the episodes twice.

Mixed bag for me as well. Too much Dani and too much over dramatics between her and Bill. Bill is a total ass by the way. I also don’t feel bad for Hayley whatsoever. I love the characters of Nicole, Anita, Vernon and Bradley though.

I think there is good potential for a long run. That being said, I enjoyed most of the show and characters but had some issues with others. I’m only vaguely familiar with Karla Mosley as I don’t watch B&B and think she needs to tone down a little. When she wasn’t throwing fits her acting is on point but, for me, a little over the top at other times.

One other issue I have is the ages or the perceived ages of Dani and her daughters. At one point she mentions being with Bill since she was 19 and later that that had been together 30 years. That would make her near 50 close to 10 years older than the actress. Her younger daughter seems age appropriate but the other, Naomi looks closer to or over 30 and is a practicing attorney.

I’d like to see the characters of Smitty and explored more.

I loved how the entire Dupree family and friends showed up in black at the wedding. Ha!

Maybe we are supposed to hate her but I found myself liking Hayley and feeling a bit sorry for her. So far she seems genuine in her feelings for Bill.

I tried to watch it, but I was just into it. I like the cast, but not sure I stay with it 🙁

While Karla/Dani was a little over the top, she’s not the first woman scorned, I had to feel more sorry that her family sacrificed her pain to protect the brother who has a problem, he doesn’t even know he’s got, as he keeps having nightmares but no memories of this problem, and apparently doesn’t want to know. There’s too much going on already to comment on, but I enjoyed the whole week!

Dani, pulling out the gun was not a shock, she’s probably just imagining it, but that big bug, moving up and down her face was sure distracting, until I realized it was on the veil attached to her hat.

One of the strongest first weeks American daytime has ever had!! They knocked it out of the park, and I am waiting on baited breath for next week’s episodes!!! Sets, acting, writing all aces!!!

I liked it ! Like any new show it has to grow iron out the kinks My favorite character is Bill Timon is doing a good job there The character of Hayley has a vulnerability and that’s a good thing because you really are supposed to dislike her I’m sure she will end up being related to Dani in some way Firefighter is too good to be true something’s going on there and Daphne’s husband is to good to be true one of them is on the down low maybe with each other ! Hopefully people are staying with it and giving it a chance . In this world of instant gratification people are not patient. Lastly, people on other sites writing in 3 days it’s better than gh days or bold Stop that nonsense it’s rude stick with beyond and don’t compare it to shows that have had the longevity There’s room for them all !

hayley is going to cheat on bill there is no way that she loves him she loves his money and everything that being married to him will give her she is low class and it not because she came from nothing it what she did and there is no way she love that old man in the end bill will get what he deserves because of what he did to his family.

I’ve watching soaps for 50 years, so I was excited to see a new one emerge. I’m enjoying it so far and I will continue hoping for more character development. The only thing that is really distracting is the over-the-top hair and make up…..please tone it down.

I’ve been watching soaps for over 50 years and was excited to see a new one emerge. I’m enjoying it so far and look forward to further character development. The only thing that is really distracting is the over-the-top hair and make-up. Please tone it down….take out some of the extensions and leave some of the furs in the closet!

I love the show.It has plenty of action.I do hope it last for a long time.

The tornado that ripped through Fairmont Crest and put the lives of the characters of Beyond the Gates and several from The Young and the Restless in jeopardy had viewers tuning-in for the week of June 8-12.

The highly-publicized crossover event kicked off on the Tuesday, June 9 episode of Beyond the Gates where six residents of Genoa City came to to visit the D.C./Maryland country club for a fundraiser for Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon), only no one expected a twister to tear into the proceedings, leading to several storylines intersecting as people were trapped with one another with Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) being the most severely injured and now requiring a liver transplant to survive.

According to the ratings report from CBS and Nielsen ratings and as supplied to Variety, Beyond the Gates brought in on average 1.8 million viewers throughout the wee. That is up 11% from its season-to-date numbers and it makes the crossover/tornado episodes its third most-watched week for the soap since Beyond the Gates premiered back on February 24, 2025.

A GENOA CITY TOUCHDOWN

With the strength of the story, its special effects and bringing over cast of the top-rated, The Young and the Restless which included: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott), Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott), Susan Walters (Diane Jenkins), Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), the Thursday, June 11 episode was the week’s most-watched.

According to the numbers, the Wednesday June 10 episode brought in the most total viewers for the week with 1.87 million (up 17% week-to-week), followed closely by the Friday, June 12 episodes which had 1.84 million watching.

Over on The Young and the Restless, the week of June 8-12, also saw an increase based on the early return that week of Shemar Moore as Malcolm Winters wrapping up his leg of the story where viewers learned he had a son Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) with Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox), and survived his bone marrow transplant surgery thanks to Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn).

Y&R scored 3.11 million viewers for the week up 2% from its season average with the June 8 and June 9 episodes featuring Moore averaging 3.2 million viewers and up 9% year-over-year.

‘Beyond the Gates’ Star Karla Mosley Weighs-in on Dani Dupree’s Love Life Endgame: Are You Team Bill or Team Andre?

Published

Last week, viewers of CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates watched as a tornado ripped through Fairmont Crest. In its wake, people were trapped with one another or seriously injured.

For Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley), she found herself stuck in an elevator with her ex-husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). And wouldn’t you know, one thing led to another, and the two gave into their unresolved feelings for one another and did the deed.

Meanwhile, Dani’s current husband, Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) suffered a minor injury to his leg, and was worried sick in the ballroom because he had no idea where Dani was after the twister decimated the place. Eventually, Dani and Bill part ways go back to their families and act like nothing happened.

When Dani is reunited with Andre, he professes his love for her even more than ever. As for Bill’s current wife Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings), she could care less because she was making out with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor, Y&R) in a closet at the country club!

THE TORNADO MAY HAVE CHANGED DANI’S HEART

For months, Beyond the Gates viewers have found themselves torn; rooting for Dani and Bill to get over themselves and get back together, or rooting for Dani and Andre, because its clear he truly loves her, even though their marriage may not have started out as the greatest love affair of all time.

Karla Mosley opened up to PEOPLE on Dani’s romance plight and who the writers of the soap might ultimately pair her with, expressing “I cannot say. I honestly have no idea.”

As it seems now, this triangle of Andre/Dani/Bill is about to heat up even more following Dani’s elevator exploits. However, according to Mosley, the popularity of Dani and Andre came as surprise to the writers, which has led to the romantic drama. “The writers did not think Dani and Andre were gonna pop off the way that they did,” explained Karla. “Originally, they thought Bill and Dani would be back together by the end of season one. And then it was like, ‘wait, what is happening?’”

WRITERS ARE TAKING THE PULSE OF THE FANS

The decision to not have Dani and Bill reunite within season 1 or half-way though season 2, Mosley shares is a sign of the times: “The old soap trope is the torn woman who goes back to her man. But I think there are enough women now who are like, I want to see her win.”

In the end, Karla believes that in this case, fans speaking up, can also translate to the writers room and influence their potential decision of who should be the ultimate man for Dani. She tells Beyond the Gates viewers,  “Keep talking about it, y’all.”

Meanwhile, questions remain: Could Dani and Bill’s elevator sex find her pregnant with his child, which would make this whole situation more messy? Stay tuned.

Now, let us know, who do you want to see Dani ultimately with … Bill Hamilton or Andre Richardson? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Phillip Boyd Makes His Debut on ‘Beyond the Gates’ in Recurring Role of Dr. Miles Arnold

A new face emerged on today’s episode of CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when actor, Phillip Boyd made his debut in the recurring role of Dr. Miles Arnold.

In story, Dr Arnold is a doctor and surgeon and on the June 16 episode, Miles had to sadly deliver some disappointing new. Neither of Eva’s (Ambyr Michelle) parents, Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) or Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) is a donor match for the life-saving transplant surgery Eva desperately needs.

Eva, among others, was injured in the tornado that ripped through Fairmont Crest and its devastating aftermath. She sustained critical injuries during the storm and was trapped with her half-sister, Kat Richardson (Colby Nixon).

Phillip Boyd recently appeared on The McCord List, where he talked about his career between working in Los Angeles and Atlanta and said about his latest acting gig, “Dr, Miles Arnold works in the hospital. There’s something that happens, a natural disaster and a lot of the characters on the show are at this event and something tragic happens and they’re rushed to the hospital.”

The actor is also appearing in the final season of Tyler Perry’s Netflix series Beauty in Black where he shows up in 7 episodes. Boyd previously appeared in short term roles on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. In primetime, he also played the role of Mitch on 90210 and played Oscar in Tyler Perry’s The Haves and Have Nots for five-seasons.

So, so you think Beyond the Gates might make Phillip Boyd’s role bigger over time on the soap? Will Kat be the match that Eva needs? If not, who? Many people were ruled out on today’s episode. Drop you thoughts and picks for the donor via the comment section.
