Patricia Miller, the mother of the late Billy Miller, has come forward and issued a touching statement on the tragic death of her beloved son at age 43.  The statement was shared by Billy’s longtime manager, Marnie Sparer, via social media.

Billy was best-known for his performances as Richie Nowack on All My Children, Billy Abbott of The Young and the Restless and Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital, as well as countless primetime roles.  Throughout his career, Miller took home three Daytime Emmys for his work.

“I would like to share the following thoughts,” Patricia began. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ – Billy Miller.”

Patricia continued with these sentiments, as she wanted to clear up any misinterpretations on this death: “He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”

The soap world as well as Billy’s family, friends, loved ones, and colleagues are in deep mourning for this talented man, who was gone too soon.

It would be a wonderful world if all diseases had a cure..

Real-life bipolar is devastating, no cure..

And it affects all families in soulful heartache as they have no power to help..

I have a dear friend who suffers from bipolar and it affects me because

there is so much I want to do for her to lessen her misery, and I haven’t the power.

In the end Billy did it his way, heartbreaking..

The loved ones left behind their souls ach and hearts bleed, over their loss.

Su, This is a beautiful post.

He was such a great actor and he will surely be missed by his family and his fan we love and miss you Mr Billy Miller

So sorry for your loss!He was a great actor.

As many former cast mates mentioned how kind and generous Billy was, we now know where he got it from. Immensely thoughtful for Mrs. Miller to issue a message to fans in her most sorrowful time.

No need for anyone to speculate any further on how he died. Just remember him for the wonderful actor and kind person he was.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand that mental illness can take over your life. And there were times I tried, but God still keeps me here. I wish we can do more and talk more about Mental Health.

You will be truly missed billy.

How very sad

Lots of hugs and prayers and thank you for reaching out to all of Billy’s fans. He will truly be missed.

You are a brave and loving mother to come forth to put all his fans at ease to understand the pain of depression which does affect a lot of people during this time…just know that your son was well loved and cherished for the person in everyone’s life and all of his fans…as disheartening as this is i pray you find peace knowing how loved he was and i am sure he knew the love he was receiving but depression and worthiness are the devastating evil that has taken over so many people during this time and pray that it gets better understood and people begin to understand they are not alone…again my prayers and love for sharing your son with us…

I’m very saddened by this terrible loss. I pray Billy is at peace with the Lord.

Mrs. Miller you and the family have my deepest sympathy and condolences. He was an awesome actor. I truly miss seeing him on the ” Young And The Restless “. He was the best person to act as Billy Abbott. RIH, Mr. Billy Miller. ❤️❤️

So very sorry for the loss of your amazing son. He brought so much joy and love to all of his fans. He was so talented and will be truly missed❤️❤️May he rest in peace ❤️❤️

My condolences are from the depths of my heart. I KNOW your sorrow. God and family will see you through your loss. There is no more painful tragedy than that of losing a child. Beautiful Billy with his sunny smile is by your side and will remain so forevermore!! Let that gorgeous smile guide you throughout your life.

I’ve battled this disease my whole life, it’s tough, I am 65. Certainly Billy’s cause of death adds to the grief. May he rest in peace.

He was a remarkable actor!! Depression is such a terrible disease. It takes and takes, eats away until there is no more. It’s as bad as cancer! It robs the person of their livelyhood and us of our loved one. I followed Billy from Y&R to GH to his guess appearances, tried to keep up with him in between all of them but he was a private person. I will just have to keep his face fresh in my mind and pray that he has found peace. ❤️

My heart is broken at the passing of Billy Miller. He was taken too soon and still had a lifetime to go. He was a great actor on the screen.
Mrs. Miller, you and your family have my deepest condolences. He will be missed by us all who loved him.
Thank you for allowing him to entertain us on television.

My utmost condolences to you, your family and friends. I am also grateful to finally read the truth as there have been misconceptions regarding Billy’s death. He was loved by so many of us as a talented and lovely human being. I enjoyed his acting and mere presence on my TV screen and reading of his passing was one of the worst days of my life.My heart goes out to you at this painful time of your life.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful son with the world and now so bravely sharing his end. Weeping will endure for a night because joy comes in the morning! May God give you and your family the strength to endure this tragic loss and ease your pain in due time., God bless this family in their time of need.

I have been a GH fan since before high school I had a crush on Steve Hardy,,Audrey,Lucille etc.The best one I will never forget was Luke and Laura’s wedding!!!We were even watching in school!!

So sorry for your loss. Billy was a talented actor and a beautiful person. You raised a wonderful man!

UPDATED: Heartbreaking news to report this Sunday evening, July 13. Two-time Daytime Emmy nominee and beloved soap veteran and television actor Scott Bryce (ex-Craig Montgomery, As the World Turns) has died at the age of 68.

Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill, Bryce’s longtime friend and former co-star announced his death via her Facebook under an hour ago (in a post that has now been deleted, but see below). Arnaz expressed, “a wonderful actor, a beautiful man and a terrific husband and father, Scott Bryce, passed tonight. I am going to miss his eyes, his smile, his wit, his brain, his intelligence, his talent, his bravery, his laugh and his hugs. Dearest Jodi, dear Jackson, he’s watching over you now from a place of pure joy and will always be your guide. But, I hate these goodbyes. Rest in peace you marvelous, magnificent man”.

Previously, Bryce was diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal and stomach cancer back in October of 2024. He had credited early detection as a vital part of his journey. He had underwent medical treatment and had since reported being “on the mend.”

SCOTT BRYCE’S RUN AS CRAIG MONTGOMERY WAS MEMORABLE

However, Lucie Arnaz shared on her Facebook post in the comment thread section when asked, that Scott’s cancer had returned. She has appeared in two projects with Bryce, the Indie film, The Pack and the TV series, Sons and Daughters.

Jackson Bryce, Scott’s beloved son, shared a beautiful tribute to his father after his passing on his Instagram where he shared that, “What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him.”

Scott was the son of actor Ed Bryce, who was best-known for his role on the soaps as Bill Bauer on Guiding Light from 1959 to 1983.  On As the World Turns, Scott had a significant run as Craig Montgomery, and at one point was initially paired on-screen with Meg Ryan (ex-Betsy Stewart). Bryce had appeared on the CBS soap opera from 1982–1991, 1993–1994, and 2007–2008.

AS THE WORLD TURNS CO-STAR PAYS TRIBUTE

On As the Word Turns, Scott’s on-screen romance was with Finn Carter, who played Sierra Esteban was a fan favorite for longtime viewers.

Carter expressed her grief on Instagram following the news of Bryce’s passing sharing, “My sadness knows no bounds. My gratitude for Scott knows even fewer. Scott was the best husband a woman could ask for. As an actor he was fearless, kind, generous and forever looking for ways to grow. And what a sense of humor! It is so difficult to write this as I can not stop crying . Scott , you were a gift that I did not deserve and one the world was freely given . All of my love to you – ah, just can’t stop crying. See you soon ( not too soon) and look forward to recalling our days on As The World Turns . You patiently taught me so much . XO”

It was during his initial run that Scott received two Daytime Emmy nominations for his performances as the manipulative Craig Montgomery. Bryce was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in both 1986 and 1987.

Bryce exited ATWT in February of 2008 and by December of that year, Jon Lindstrom, (Beyond the Gates, General Hospital) was brought in as the final Craig from 2008-2010 as the soap went off the air. Over the years, Hunt Block and Jeffrey Meek also played the role of Craig.

FROM OAKDALE TO PRIMETIME

In addition, Scott appeared in numerous episodic comedy and drama series throughout his career with roles in: Murphy Brown, The Facts of Life, ER, Law & Order, Reba and Sex and the City and Blue Bloods, The Blacklist, Homeland, 30 Rock to name but a few. On the soaps, Bryce also appeared on One Life to Live in the role of a psychiatrist, Dr. Ed Crosby, from 2006-2007.

Scott is survived by his wife Jodi Stevens and their son, Jackson.

Michael Fairman TV will bring you further updates on this developing story.
