Brad Maule Reprising His Role As Dr. Tony Jones On General Hospital
There is official confirmation today that Brad Maule is returning to General Hospital in his signature soap role as Dr. Tony Jones. The event will take place sometime in November when Tony appears to his adopted son, Lucas (Ryan Carnes) in a pivotal moment.
The character of Tony was killed-off the Port Charles canvas back in 2006 when he died of encephalitis.
According to EW.com on the story that brings Maule back on-screen: “Lucas finds out that his birth father (Julian played by William deVry) has been blackmailing his husband Brad (Parry Shen). Lucas struggles with the void in his life due to Tony’s absence. Learning that his birth father is blackmailing his husband is difficult! You know what would help? A “visit” from Tony.”
Maule played Tony Jones on and off on GH from 1984 to 2006. Brad also has appeared on Y&R, Passions and Port Charles throughout his daytime career.
Looks like Lucas will receive a visit from the great beyond from Tony, unless a twist is coming? Check out the ‘first look’ photos at EW.com.
So, are you looking forward to seeing Brad on-screen with Ryan Carnes? Comment below.
Yes
Brad lives in Austin tx he is a super guy great actor can’t believe Frank would use him I think he use to be a conservative radio host ! Lordy those flaming liberals can’t allow that ! Great to see you Brad show those idiots how to act on that show ! Bravo! You got robbed of a Emmy for the BJ story those were the days
Frankly, I blame Obama for killing off Tony Jones. I also blame him for the deaths of Alan and AJ Quartmermaine.
That’s hilarious Harry. Yes, I read Kay’s comments and thought why is she injecting flaming Liberals into the return Tony Jones. Nice way to handle it!
I know you are just attempting to take a stab at humor there, Harry, but even those of us who don’t like “your president” realize that Tony Jones was killed off during “George W’s” administration…hence you missed a great Bush-bashing opportunity there, since as I recall, everything was 43’s fault according to the left! Having said that, I don’t think it would be far-fetched to suggest that AJ’s abrupt death—- and particularly his seemingly highly-unlikely resurrection—-have some connection to Sean Kanan’s stated political beliefs and appearances on conservative talk shows. Despite remaining one of GH’s most popular legacy characters who certainly would be welcomed back to Port Charles with open arms by many, many viewers, Kanan is still apparently non-persona grata on the GH soundstage…a status he currently shares with not only Jack Wagner, but a few other past leading men from the show’s glory days who have either implied or outright expressed their support for Republicans. Coincidence??? I think NOT!
Hollywood is a liberal love fest! Their mob-like president is De Niro and his right hand man is Baldwin.
Not only that, I think Hillary was the one who was driving the bus that ran over BJ! And she (Hillary) liked it!
Love it Harry.
Also, it was Obama in the grassy knoll. Sure, he was in diapers and sure, he lived in Kenya, and yet, there he was.
@Kay….God Bless You!….Although I have no particular devotion to either Tony Jones or Brad Maule, you certainly have the guts to say out loud what a lot of us think in reference to the casting decisions made at GH….It’s pretty obvious that Republican-leaning actors are considered undesirables in the Port Charles sphere, and the few current/recently departed players that I suspect of harboring such political views have out of necessity kept a very dignified silence regarding their opinions for the sake of self-preservation.
GH is making casting decisions based on people’s political beliefs? Sorry, that is one of the most ridiculous, asinine things I’ve ever heard in my life. They currently employ numerous people both in front of and behind the camera who would identify as Republican or conservative, and you don’t have to look very hard to know who they are, either. So honestly, stop with this made up conspiracy theory nonsense.
Brian, how dare you come in here and make perfect sense!?
I never heard of this man, not a clue to him.
Apparently he will be a ghost just in time for Halloween LOL..
Anyways..
Don’t anyone put blame on Julian, Brad lied to him, also.
As for Julian;
He’s not Blackmailing Brad, he simply threatened him..
Bard could have come forth at any time with the truth, Julian is not to blame for Brad’s cowardness and deceit.
If I were writing the story;’
Julian would have punched him upside the head and forced Brad to tell Lucas the truth a long time ago.
Have you ever noticed;
most soap characters are weak and suckers, well they are. lol
So- it’s still better than watching Carly and all talking about Donna;
(a brain-draining boring story from the git-go.)
I agree with you, Suoo. That mouth breather Brad pulled Julian into his scheme. I cannot stand Brad–Lucas is way too good for that creep. And I will never be able to erase the sight of mouth breathing Brad in his black, bikini underwear.
Harry and suOOO
You are so right. I hate that little slimy Brad and have since he and the britch did what they did to Lulu. How much you wanna bet, she will come out of the woodwork to help him out when everything falls around his ears? I could never understand the coupling of he and Lucas, who is such a great guy, though naive and seems to live in a cocoon.
They make Julian into a pansy. Why? He can be out of the mob but still be a hard ass! He should have slapped Brad a long time ago!
Classic GH! Kill off a long timer unnecessarily, and then toss long time fans a scrap with a ghost. Its not enough.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been so angry about a television spoiler because after having watched GH religiously for decades, I permanently turned it off in disgust when in 2013, Frisco Jones and Robin Scorpio were trashed by TPTB. Since then, I’ve seen news about the show on social media, but this tidbit has me triggered. I do NOT want Tony Jones to come back to a show run by people who have no problem destroying returning vets for the fun of it and using them to prop their OLTL pets. Tony Jones belongs to the Golden Era of GH and I want to cry that he’s now going to be at the mercy of a regime that has long ago destroyed what made this show #1 and so special.
I could not agree with you more, Lillian! What was done to besmirch and belittle the character of Frisco Jones was especially revolting! (And it continues to this day with the snarky little offhanded remarks by Mac, Felicia, et al…) Jack Wagner’s star-making role was one of GH’s finest and most popular during the heyday of the soap, and it was extremely offensive to see both the actor and his singing secret agent treated with such utter disrespect during his much anticipated and far-too-brief return. As far as Tony Jones goes, I say let the dead rest in peace and bring back to Port Charles his very alive brother in order to rectify the slights brought against his character time and time again!
Thank you for the reply and support of my comment. With all due respect, while I understand your desire to see Frisco Jones redeemed through another return to GH, I would not hold my breath for a number of reasons. First, this regime had every opportunity to honor Frisco Jones (and his fans) when they managed to get him to agree to return for a short visit after an 18 year absence. They chose instead to denigrate, disparage, mock, and humiliate him in order to make the lacklustre Mac Scorpio appear to be a viable alternative for Felicia when all previous writers had failed to do so in 20 something years. What makes you think they would change course if they ever had another chance especially given that Frisco is still living the exciting life of running a covert operations agency while Felicia’s bff Mac is probably at Target excitedly purchasing new barware for The Floating Rib’s next senior citizen Bingo Night as I write this? Second, I think it highly unlikely that Jack Wagner would ever agree to return to this cesspool again after making it absolutely clear how disgusted he was by how his iconic character was depicted in 2013. The man left GH in 1991 and went on to have a successful career on other shows, both daytime and primetime, as well as in the theatre and on stage playing his music. He has never needed GH like others have for a paycheck and only came back in 2013 to honor the show that kickstarted his career. Most recently, he has been on contract with Crown Media as an Executive Producer and main character in his own tv movie series and is a lead character on the Hallmark Network’s hit show When Calls The Heart. I really don’t think Jack will ever agree to come back to GH unless he had control of the story they wrote for Frisco, and given that Frank Valentini likes to control every single aspect of the show, that would never happen. Sooo, my suggestion would be to content yourself with your memories of how beautiful the show used to be when characters like Frisco and Felicia were a centrepiece supercouple instead of the “couplings” of today like Micheal and Sasha, quit the show, and watch youtube. That’s what I do 🙂
And thank you for your very eloquent response, Lillian! Once again, we are on the exact same page, as I do realize that my wish for the triumphant return of Frisco Jones to Port Charles is more than likely just a pipedream. As you have pointed out, not only does Jack Wagner have a multitude of better things to do than come back to daytime, but the current GH regime has made their negative feelings toward the character and the actor abundantly clear with their snotty little asides that have been tossed into the show’s dialogue for some time now. Having said that, I do believe had the conditions been right, Wagner would have been willing to do another appearance simply to correct the damage done to Frisco’s image and as a courtesy to his loyal fans who still regard that character as one of GH’s best ever! Of course, we will probably never experience that reality…thus, as you have stated, we must simply make do with the magic of the past on You Tube where Frisco and his music are just as enjoyable now as back in the day!
Spot on Lillian!
Jack Wagner was truly trashed, loved Frisco.
YES!!! I am excited to hear this bit of news!!! I always thought it was bogus when they killed off Tony and never understood how his death could move story forward So glad we get to see the character again even if it’s a ghostly type of visit.
It will be wonderful to see Brad Maule on screen again. GH does the “dead character appears as a ghost” bit a lot, but it’s been 13 years since Brad last appeared, so it will be meaningful, particularly for longtime fans.
Tony was one of my favorite characters when I started watching GH in the early 90s. All these years later, I still get emotional when I think of that scene with Tony putting his head on Maxie’s chest to hear BJ’s heart beating after the heart transplant. You know something was well done when it still touches you 25 years later. They simply don’t write them like that anymore. God bless you, Claire Labine!
I remember Tony’s death scene being particularly sad as well, when he was dying in the hospital bed, and saw a vision of BJ and said “She said it’s time to go.” right before he passed. One of the best soap death scenes ever. I remember that was during the time when the Phelps/Guza regime were not writing for the vets at all, and Brad said if you’re not gonna write for Tony, kill him off. I always respected him for taking that stand, even though it was a shame to lose him from the show.
Loved Claire Labine! She was one of the best!
Hopefully Ghost Tony can put an end to this baby switch dragonshit storyline. Tony’s not down here in Hell, but if we keep track of things in Port Charles, you can bet they know about it upstairs as well.
I figured it out.
Brad is an awsome actor, he’s coming back because he owes a favor or he needs money.
The creepy mongers, are so desparite to make ratings or money, that they think each infomercial scene, will keep people caring. Stupid stories, sucking depth of story, hoping to catch the ADDT
generation….but they are mostly on Pharmas, that prevent them from giving attention to a storey…or following one.
Let’s face it folks, Storey telling gone from our world atleast from TV, and the stupid attempts these stupid producers are using to ‘last another week’ LAME.
Lets hope THEY give BRAD mucho moulah, and enough work to stay on the show, til it eventually ends. By then most of the world will be on pharma anyway, thank you Obama. Lots will remain slaves Hillary, and most of the rest will be Zombies, thank you Oprah.
Gays will always be gay, even thought GH made them look like morons @ drag bingo.
ABC, goodbye
I loved Tony and Tonya. What a great era. BUT, Tony, like Tonya are gone. I hate that he is being brought back as a ghost. It is cheap and quite frankly a slap in the face! But, its Brad’s choice. He knows what he is doing. Maybe its just a little gift for us long time fans? I just wish he would have come back permanently as Tony’s never mentioned older brother who ALSO is a doctor. Can you imagine him at GH at the nurses station and Bobbi gets off the elevator and she sees him? Oh wait, that would mean focusing on veteran GH actors! AND, we would push Valenti’s AMC and OLTL actors into the background!
I still remember when Tania was hit by the car and died. Focus on Vets? Crazy talk. The focus is on out of work boyfriends hired in the parking lot!
#PoodlePermPete
Yup. This gig is the longest in his career, two years! What a joke. The hair is awful!
Does he plan on joining a boy band with that new style? At least it looks washed. He always looks greasy and dirty.
That goatee is very 1990s.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
