It is true soapers! What the New York Post reported late last evening IS becoming a reality! It has now been confirmed this morning with an official press release from ABC that a deal has been struck between ABC to license its soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live to the production media company, Prospect Park and the soaps will live on and continue after their ABC airdates in an online platform!
Below is the the official press release just announced by ABC, so you can read all the details!
Official release: “ABC has licensed its iconic soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live to Prospect Park, it was announced today by Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group & Janice Marinelli, President, Disney/ABC Domestic Television and Rich Frank & Jeff Kwatinetz of Prospect Park. The exclusive multi-year, multi-platform deal enables the soaps’ stories to continue beyond their finale dates on ABC. ABC will broadcast its final episode of All My Children on Friday, September 23rd and will air the final episode of One Life to Live in January, 2012.
The licensing agreement, brokered by Disney/ABC Domestic Television Group, enables Prospect Park to continue production of All My Children and One Life to Live beyond their life on ABC. Prospect Park will produce and deliver the two long-running programs to consumers via online formats and additional emerging platforms including internet enabled television sets. Under the terms of the arrangement, the programs will continue to be delivered with the same quality and in the same format and length. Additional details of the new productions and tune-in will be forthcoming from Prospect Park.

“We are privileged to continue the legacy of two of the greatest programs to air on daytime television, and are committed to delivering the storylines, characters and quality that audiences have come to love for over 40 years. All My Children and One Life to Live are television icons, and we are looking forward to providing anytime, anywhere viewing to their loyal community of millions,” said Frank and Kwatinetz. “Technology changes the way the public can and will view television shows. Now that there are so many devices available in addition to television sets, viewers are taking advantage of watching shows wherever they are and on any number of devices. The driving force in making the switch and attracting new audiences is to have outstanding programs that people want to watch. We believe that by continuing to produce the shows in their current hour format and with the same quality, viewers will follow the show to our new, online network.”
All My Children and One Life to Live are iconic pieces of television history that captivated millions of fans since their beginning over 40 years ago,” said Frons. “Each of the shows have made an indelible mark on our culture’s history and informed our consciousness in their own way. We are so glad Prospect Park has assumed the mantel for these shows and that they will continue for the fans.”

Marinelli continued, “From the time the shift in the daytime strategy was announced, our hope was to find a new home for these treasured shows. We are thrilled to license them to Prospect Park so the stories of life in Pine Valley and Llanview can continue to be told for the passionate and loyal fans that enjoy watching each day.”
“I’m just so happy that ABC found a home where the legacies of ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life to Live’ can continue. I’m excited for their future with Prospect Park,” added Agnes Nixon, creator of both AMC and OLTL. “It takes a lot of living to make a soap opera a serial, and the wonderful teams on both shows have done just that. Together, we are a big family that keeps going, and I’m looking forward to working alongside these wonderful people as we ensure that the shows will continue with all the love and excitement we’ve always had. I also am so happy for our loyal fans, whom we love so much, and who have been so supportive over the last 40 plus years.”
Prospect Park is a media and production company founded in 2009 by entertainment industry veterans Jeffrey Kwatinetz and former Disney Studios head Rich Frank. Along with successful film and music divisions, the company’s television group has numerous shows in development and breakout network hits airing, including Royal Pains and Wilfred.
In April, ABC announced that it was expanding the focus of its daytime lineup to include more programming that is informative and authentic and centers on transformation, food and lifestyle. “The Chew,” an innovative and groundbreaking daily talk show that celebrates and explores life through food, will premiere on September 26th. “The Revolution,” a daily show about health and lifestyle transformations, will replace One Life to Live in January 2012.”

With the success of the venture, the Nixons are hopeful that they will bring viewers many more years of the show to come.

Mark Consuelos Mourns the Loss of His Father
Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.
His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”
Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”
Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid. He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”
In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”
Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’
On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.
Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.
It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Photo: ABC
Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”
She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.
“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup. However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’
In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.
You can check out Sarah Michelle Gellar’s full segment on The View below. Now let us know, bummed there is no Buffy reboot? What do you think about how this high profile Hollywood saga was side-stepped on the morning show? Did you love Sarah as the original Kendall Hart on All My Children? It is a shame that certain soap fans was belittling and harassing a certain soap fan of her beliefs of getting ABC to release their rights to the soaps for a lower cost. She had the only Group on Facebook of this nature… One Fan was threatened by her ideologies he chased her off Facebook with his following members… She started this group 5 weeks ago! I am proud and thankful ABC listened to the fans while one Fan wanted to be glorified in saving the soaps when it was all those who participated… He berated and belittled people on twitter and facebook on the radio show… Even when receiving the news of the ABC sell, he continued his badgering on twitter to those who announced it. He should be happy that AMC and OLTL is still going to be aired! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THOSE SOAP OPERA FANS!!!
That is nice news and all. But I am for everyone viewing them. I still have a lack of trust with ABC Disney because they were the ones that started bashing soap fans in the first place. I dont know who you are referencing, but many soap fans have been united on Facebook. But I want them viewed by everyone, not just online viewers. But this is a start.
yep, i know ‘the guy’ you are refering to. I’ll say his name Silas Kain, it was his way or the highway, anyone that questioned him got fried, and he demanded loyalty from everyone. he had the attitude that if you weren’t 100 % with him, you must be against him and he would break out in a rant and turn his followers on you. he is a classic bully. he thought only his ideas were valid.
What a stinker!
She didn’t come up with the idea of sell at a lower cost, Someone else did and I know who it was. She went around editing Docs to make them look like hers, when all the comments clearly pointed out whos idea it was as well as who the event was created by. I’ll go ahead and state her name since people are tossing out names. Dee Anna Jones and Darlene January was the true “bullies” and “backstabbers”. I know you two are “supposedly related” But I don’t believe that. I think you two are one and the same. My goodness I watched all this go down. She ran around smearing him and his ideas as you are now, and then throwing out the victim card for the attack. Come up with a good idea and we will support you, but you can’t expect us to support people attacking then expecting us to believe it is “partnered” effort.
Amanda, shows what little you know….. They are not one and the same. And if I see you mention my friends names again I will contact my attorney and sue your ass for slander. Leave Darlene and Dee Anna alone. How dare you call Darlene a backstabber or a bully. You dont even know her. I have contacted Facebook and the police and they are investigating all this bs being said. If I were you I would leave other peoples names out of the unknowledgeable info that you post on the internet. It is being watched.I know who you are and you didnt watch anything go down. You are good at running your mouth to bad nothing but garbage comes out of it. You dont like what they have to say ignore it and move on with your life. Just cause you think you acted as an admin in paaa doesnt mean you have a clue what went on. You want to follow whats his name go ahead it just shows everyone what your mindset is. You people wanted to save the soaps well point accomplished. Go back to your life now and stop making everyone elses miserable. Dont talk about things you have no idea about this is how rumors start and everything above you have just said is exactly that A RUMOR. Leave them alone
This is not an accurate description of Silas Kain. He’s a good man who has selflessly devoted the past decade to protecting the Soap Opera Genre. We do know however, that there are those who’ve tried many times to derail efforts to promote the preservation of the genre. There are those who are in it, simply to make a name for themselves and then those who wish only to do whatever they can to help. Speaking of those who only seeked attention; when all your efforts got you banned from most of the groups on facebook, you sought to make one man pay. You need help. I can’t stress that enough. You have wreaked too much havoc in what is otherwise a productive movement. Please stop these third grade level tactics. Rather than trying to divide the fans for your own selfish reasons, why not join the fight to preserve the genre.
You, Darlene are the bully. You sent me a message on FB threatening me about how “I know plenty of judges and lawyers don’t go there with me” and “how I will know you real good” and how I should “be ready to get a lawyer” and how “better watch what I say. I said nothing threatening to you on twitter. I just answered your tweets and defended the people YOU were attacking. The only place where that is harassment and threatening is in CRAZYLAND where you and your niece Dee Anna live. Maybe you should go and get a hobby and leave the rest of us that are doing good and successful work alone. You need to seek some serious help.
I know Dee Anna and Darlene personally, they are two different people and have proof and pictures of both. I am also family! I don’t care about soaps and could care less if they do or don’t air. Keep talking smack because the ones who keep up the disrespect for either one of these young ladies are the ones who are showing their true colors and who are the real bullies in this situation to the readers. Shame on you! I seen a twitter from Cole Bell confirming they were two different people. And Kimberly are you not an admin in his Facebook Group?
So getting a family member to confirm that you are two separate people is supposed to convince us that is the most HILARIOUS thing I have ever seen not to mention a bit pathetic don’t you think. Whether you’re two different people or one and the same do the soaper movement a favor and take yourself and all of your little cronies and go away..slamming people that have done more work on this movement then you have is sad everyone knows how much work Silas has put into it especially the people who have known him since long before April. You people come onto the scene and think you can steal others ideas and pull the victim card when things don’t work in your favor?? Keep it up, I can’t wait to see it bite you all in the A$$…
I think all the above being disrespectful leaves a funny taste in my mouth! No wonder the public has a bad view of the soap fans just by reading the above hatred of one posting. It feels like a lynching mob visualizing KKK robes and all!
I am so ashamed that we have come to this. I feel more sorry for the poster and DA for the comments being made about them. I am so ashamed to call myself a soap fan! I am in agreement with SinfulnotNice comment. It does sound like a lynching mob. Isn’t this post suppose to be a congratulations to the our new soap online for AMC and OLTL.
People who are habitually giving way to cross tempers in daily life, and are constantly sharp with their tongues and disagreeable to all around them, spiteful people, vindictive people, revengeful people, malicious people, do not know about sanctification. (Ryle, Holiness, pp 27-28)
Soaper4Life you said a mouth full. I didn’t see any names mentioned by the poster. Let me ask this question! Why are names being mentioned by the lynch mob? Sounds like the prosecution team for totmom! No names are mentioned by the poster and friends but names are mention by the lynch mobbers and friends.
I’m with you Soaper4Life, I feel really ashamed to be a soap fan after reading all of this. ‘whispering’ I bet the name of the person the lynch crew mention is ashamed of these postings as well.
CONGRATULATIONS ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE FOR FINDING SOMEONE TO PLACE YOU BACK ON THE AIR!
Smokey let it rest. Getting yourself all worked up and answering this garbage is not worth your effort. You cares what these people say or think. They are not important in your life. We, your real friends know what an awesome person you are. You h ave to many important thongs in your life to accomplish. Why do you argue back with them. Just ignore it. I will stand behind you till the end but just let it go. We got what we wanted… A venue to see our soaps. If other people are not happy let them fight on. Focus on the good and let this crap go. Love ya gf….
Robyn you better watch yourself threatening people on the internet is ILLEGAL maybe your lawyer should have told you that if you even have one!
I am in Silas’ crosshairs now too. Guess I’m not alone. He announced the day the rumor broke about Prospect Park acquiring the rights to AMC and OLTL that is was a lie and not to be believed. I don’t think he enjoyed the egg on his face when the official confirmation came out. He quickly mobilized his lemmings to brand anyone happy about this news as “selfish” and we were quickly indoctrinated about the need to carry on his ill-conceived coupon campaign for a cable soap channel. Does anyone believe a cable company will actually launch a new channel based on 500, 000 coupon from 500,000 PEOPLE, not HOUSEHOLDS? I don’t. Does anyone believe that only 5% (or 10,000) people from the soap viewing audience now get their soap information online? I don’t, and you don’t have to believe me. Take a look at the ABC official fan pages for All My Children (397,808), One Life to Live (381,174) and General Hospital (683,799). I have concerns about this coupon campaign, I have asked questions and for that I have been banned from groups and blacklisted by the Disciples of Silas. What is even more concerning to me is a lot of people use their real names on Facebook, and these coupons ask for name, address and cable provider. How many of us would send that information to a complete stranger, especially when we aren’t even being told the details? This does nor add up for me, and I hope people think about it some more before participating. I heard he made some ugly accusations against me on his radio show last night. It’s pitiful that people are giving him a platform for his horrendous behavior.
If there’s a golf channel, why shouldn’t there be a soap channel? I’m in this for Guiding Light & Another World & to save the soaps as a genre, not specifically just OLTL & AMC. I’m sorry that there has been so much bad blood between people, but quite frankly, everyone should be working together to save the genre, not petty arguments over who said what to who or about whom. OLTL & AMC were one battle. A soap channel would be the war. I’ve heard enough of the details of the coupon campaign that I am happy to support it, but it’s not the only campaign I am supporting either. Street address is not required, only city, state and zip code, and that’s so that the cable company will know you are a real customer & not Mickey Mouse. Because so few people are able to show up for rallies (which were never once scheduled on a weekend), I think it’s a great way to get media attention and a relatively accurate count of numbers so that the networks can’t sweep it under the rug nearly so easily.
This is the second campaign I’ve seen you question whether people are who they say they are & I’m sorry you are so concerned about people being frauds because the vast majority of people in this world are good people who mean well.
Amber, if you are addressing me, the coupons most certainly ask for the person’s address; they say “Please provide your name, address, city , state and zip code below”. It does not say on the coupon that street address is not required, so please look at the coupon again. I saw your tweet about me to Silas Kain, now he is claiming, once again, that I am something or someone I am not. His mission is to vilify anyone who is not onboard with him, and for the weak minded, it is working. This coupon campaign WILL NOT work, I called my cable provider and talked to Corporate and Marketing; they never heard of it and they said this is not the way channels are launched and a campaign like this would not be considered seriously by them or any other cable provider. They’re Comcast, they’re #!1, they should know. So, I am sorry people are being taken for a ride, and some of us have to be the bearer of bad news, but I will take all the heat if it stops people from being used, taken advantage of, giving their personal information to people they do not know who operate in such a shady and bullying manner. Silas has lied about me, so I have every reason to believe he lies about more important things. Did you also know its one coupon per person per household, not just one coupon per household? People could send them in for infants and toddlers, and a cable company would count that? Use your common sense, girl!
and you just keep on going don’t you little girl? Why don’t you do us all a favor since you’re such a big baddie behind the computer and come on Silas’s show! 10 pm tonight are you afraid or are you just a wimp who sits behind a computer screen whining about others than actually make an impact? Sorry you’re little pages or groups didn’t work out but we all know a GOOD idea when we see one, instead of slamming him come face him, GET REAL or SHUT UP!
WOW, Georgette! Why are you so jealous of Silas Kain? You sound like a woman scorned… Honey, get a grip!! That aside, why are you setting out to ruin this for the fans and the actors? Not that you could.
Veronica, I’m there now. I don’t see you.
Cynthia, I don’t see anything to be jealous of.
I agree with you Georgette and to think they think I am you. My real name is Karen! But for their information they need to read the following:
Many states have enacted “cyberharassment” laws or have laws that explicitly include electronic forms of communication within more traditional stalking or harassment laws. In addition, recent concerns about protecting minors from online bullying or harassment have led states to enact “cyberbullying” laws. This chart identifies only state laws that include specific references to electronic communication. However, other state laws may still apply to those who harass, threaten or bully others online, although specific language may make the laws easier to enforce. This chart classifies the various state laws addressing these three different types of online behaviors, as described below.
Cyberharassment. Cyberharassment differs from cyberstalking in that it is generally defined as not involving a credible threat. Cyberharassment usually pertains to threatening or harassing email messages, instant messages, or to blog entries or websites dedicated solely to tormenting an individual. Some states approach cyberharrassment by including language addressing electronic communications in general harassment statutes, while others have created stand-alone cyberharassment statutes.
Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying and cyberharassment are sometimes used interchangeably, but for the purposes of this chart, cyberbullying is used for electronic harassment or bullying among minors within a school context. Recent cyberbullying legislation reflects a trend of makaing school districts the policy enforcers of such misconduct. As a result, statutes establish the infrastructure for schools to handle this issue by amending existing school anti-bullying policies to include cyberbullying or electronic harassment among school age children. The majority of these state laws establish sanctions for all forms of cyberbullying on school property, school busses and official school functions. However, some have also extended sanctions to include cyberbullying activities that originate off-campus, believing that activities off-campus can have a chilling and disruptive effect on children’s learning environment. The sanctions for cyberbullying range from school/parent interventions to misdemeanors and felonies with detention, suspension, and expulsion in between. Some of these laws promote Internet safety education or curricula that covers cyberbullying.
This news is the best I have heard in I don’t know how long. I love OLTL with all my heart, and all I wanted, and want for all soaps is life! I just want them to live. I am so thankful to the team over at Prospect Park for this decision in not allowing these Soaps to die. Thank you to everyone who had their hands in this. I only have One Life to Live, and I want MY One Life to Live in it as much as possible. I am so thankful, and happy for all my peeps at OLTL, and AMC. WE DID IT PEOPLE!!!!!! XOXOXOXO
great news….but can we get Ron Carlivati back. The show also needs Erika Slezak to sign on to continue.
VERY interesting. I hope that this is a successful venture for all involved. I remember how upset fans were when the move from regular TV to DirectTV didn’t work out so well for Passions. I’d like to hope that people learned from any mistakes made with that strategy. I’ll reserve judgment until after the move for AMC and OLTL happens and the fans tune in. Or don’t.
YAY!!!!!
I’m curious to see how many of the cast of AMC will stay on the show with this new format. I’m sure the cast will have to be streamlined as will the salaries. With Zach returning to PV, will the actor remain on the show and relocate or will it be recast? I like Kendall and Griff together and hope they remain together.
I understand they killed a popular character on OLTL, how will that be handled? Return from the dead? I am not familiar with the show but I’ve seen posts where the fans are unhappy with the characters demise.
The future cast interests me as well. On a side note, my kids excitedly asked if the soap move meant they could go back to watching the Disney channel….kinda still want to say NO.
I don’t think we should give the boycott up just yet until we see exactly what this deal entails. this is definitely a win for us, but this is a battle won, and not the war IMO. the details of this is still pretty hush0hush and Frons had said OLTL and AMC were safe from cancellation just weeks before he cancelled them. This may be to placate us for a while so I feel it’s still extremely important to continue the boycotting.
looks like it is very positive from what I am seeing on twitter. Like Cara, Griff, Crystal, Tad (interview said he is up for anything to keep it) Randy and that is just the people I looked at so far. I already knew Jake and Amanda are leaving regardless of anything and Colby got a new job but she could most likley do both. I can’t see the newer stars like Asher and mountain man lol leaving. Depending on where they air the shows others may come back to if closer to NY like Adam Chandler and since I don’t know OLTL as well I am not as familar with them. I’m almost positive Susan Lucci is staying Agnes and her are tight and Agnes had a lot to do with this and I know this is Susan’s heart.
they knew this was coming. robin strasser and gina tognoni left before being strong armed into huge pay cuts that everyone else will have to take if they stay with the shows. all except lucci, she already made a deal.
I wonder what form they will take. Once a week? Half an hour? New cast? How can this company take the whole cast and crew to the internet and make money?
Good luck to them though.
I think it’s awesome, SMART Soaps! Online is the way of the future. Look at the business models for Netflix and Hulu. Streaming allows for much more alacarte programming, what you want to watch, when you want to. Screw the networks and their stupid chat shows and endless singing and dancing contests.
I’m happy for AMC and OLTL and their fans so that they do not have to go through what the fans of ATWT went through last year (and GL the year before).
What would truly make my day would be if ATWT could be brought back
Mary
I agree…I would love to see ATWT make a come-back. I REALLY miss it!!!
I agree with Mary. Would love to see GL & ATWT come back along with AMC & OLTL. Bring them all back & take off these silly talk shows & realty shows. I turn them off when them come on.
Couldn’t say it better myself. I’m so glad to hear these shows have been saved but think it’s extremely sad the same type of setup couldn’t be put in action for ATWT. I miss ATWT so much . . . and hold out some sort of hope it could still happen, one way or the other.
Same here. Never watch anything else on daytime TV except for the news & weather. We really don’t need any more talk shows, reality programs or game shows!
This is pretty cool. I do wonder how they can maintain it online, how they make money and all that…and if most of the stars will stay on, will they be able to pay them…..but for now its pretty cool that the shows will continue in some way. I’ll definitely watch
This is outstanding news! I look forward to what’s to come on both shows. ABC/Disney made the right decision by selling to online.
I didn’t think of that!!! ARE CAN CANADIANS be made available to this??
If not oh I don’t think it is fair..it is on the World wide web right?
Very excited about this development ……
Now will it be available to Canadian fans ???
I would be just devastated if it weren’t.
Definitely. I really want it to be able to be ‘aired’ internationally. Otherwise an interestineg move. Look forward to it.
Curious though which awards would it qualify for? Emmys? Other new format categories?
I know VENICE and the other Web soaps are now eligible for new format Emmys. I suspect that if the show remains daily and an hourlong there will be changes in Emmy eligibility before too long to allow the dailies to compete against the dailies, etc, and the limited season ones to compete against the limited season ones. But it will probably be strained for a year or two while they figure it out.
Thank you ABC/Disney for making this wonderfully positive decision. The continuation of One Life to Live and All My Children will make more people then you can imagine happy. Kudos on the smart move!!!!! Congratulations to all involved in All My Children and One Live to Live. Now I wonder how this will affect the storylines, i.e. we know Dixie is not a ghost, so is Cady McClain going to be willing to continue on, and if Zach comes back in the flesh, we know he is not going to stay (although I think he will come back as a vision to Kendell). Either way, I am very happy and cannot wait to see how the new format will play out!!!
I too am very pleased, but ABC/Disney are not doing this for us………..they are just wiping the egg off their faces. ………..and I for one am still boycotting them……….and I hope that MANY MANY other soap fans see this for what it is. We are only being acknowledged because we made so much noise they could no longer go on saying we don’t exist.
Proof is in the pudding baby……soaps would not be going anywhere if indeed they were a dying genre as ABC/Disney would like everyone to believe. They are just doing some great PR work now………well I for one say it’s too little too late, I ain’t buying!!! My “loyalty” is over soon as my shows move on so do I!!
i was saying this to my wife what if they put this online and kept it alive that way…welp that thought has come to life 🙂
I’m excited for the fans of AMC and OLTL. I just wish this option had been available for GL and ATWT last year and the year before. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out and what changes will have to be made. However, I am excited for the genre. This could be its salvation if TPTB take the time needed and focus on the quality storytelling the fans want to see.
Where was this deal when GL and ATWT were ripped off the air? Any way they could also be resurrected? Talk about “icons!” This is a great thing for the ABC soaps and I hope it starts a trend. I and many others will certainly support this format in order to continue enjoying a true iconic form of entertainment! Thank you !!!!
I am so extatic about this.. I was mouning a death and now we have AMC and OLTL to continue on on a new venue.
My mother I and my adult daughters will all be happy..no thrilled…there is strength in numbers!!
YA Y YAY what more to say..
…but how will it work?
I am thrilled! I was so sad to think that these great shows would be gone forever.
I am wondering how this will be pulled off….as far as the cast goes. Who will stay on for this new format? And who will leave?
I imagine that the company will make money through advertising dollars, much like Youtube, and all the other internet entertainment shows are out there. The more hits they have, the more money they make. I just hope this works. I am so excited for AMC & OLTL. I am a die-hard OLTL fan, and was not ready for the sun to set on LLanview. But like previous posts stated, I’m gonna keep my eye on this and see what develops.
This is exciting news, not surprised by Frons spin on this about looking for another place since the cancellation announcment and his remark about how much he loves soap viewers. I wish they would just admit that the soap fans got organized and made them cry “uncle”. I actually hope Frons has nothing to do with oltl at all anymore since all this rapemance thing is his idea but I’m thrilled that my one soap will live on via the internet.
I am so thrilled they are saving OLTL, I love this show and was very upset when they announced cancelling. I just hate that they killed off Gigi. My 66 year old disabled husband just though she was the cutest thing . Gigi was the reason he watched the show. Really exciting the show will be continuing.
I was hoping that Oprah’s OWN would get the shows but I’ll accept seeing them online as long as the quality is the same.
My time is precious to me so I prefer selective entertainment viewing, that includes that I have watched One Life To Live for past three years only on You Tube and sometimes HULU. I have only turned my TV on once during past three years and that was to watch the Presidential debate and the night of the election, I voted for OBAMA so was very interested in seeing him win and to get all coverage immediately! However, again turned TV off after election night coverage and it still remains unplugged, too much garbage shows on TV.
But getting back to OLTL, since I watch the show on You Tube, will it also remain there and since I obviously have Internet does this mean I merely click on Prospect Park media at no extra charge instead of watching You Tube; if so how do I do that. What is the Webstie address.
Wonderful news! I have just one question, and would have put it directly to Prospect Media (even if just to put it in their minds!) but cannot find contact details anywhere. As a long-standing viewer of these Soaps and (for some years now) an expat, I have been able to keep up with my ‘habit’ thanks to YouTube. Many of the other online TV facilities are closed to the UK, eg Hulu, TVLand, etc. Will Prospect open its online network to a global audience? Or am I still lost in space?
NOW BRING BACK TODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is fantastic news! I am thrilled the shows are continuing. Its a big change, but remember, soaps have evolved from radio to TV and flourished. Fans need to stay positive and supportive. And most importantly we need to keep watching and let ABC (or Prospect) know how much we love the citizens of Pine Valley and Llanview!!!
hmmm your is the same as a role from OLTL’s past
I want the soaps viewed by everyone. Not everyone has the internet. And I dont know how I feel about Prospect taking them on, since they are affiliated with Disney. Heard they didnt have the financial backing yet for producing it, or do they?
Just be happy that all of these people are still to be employed. Doesn’t matter who sees them.
who is this company (Prospect Park) can not find a website anywhere for them, and the articles says they are already showing the shows, Royal Pains, and Wilfred.
What is the website address for them, PLEASE
I am thrilled to hear that Prospect Park has decided to take on the production of these two shows. They present such a lovely escape and I was so sad to hear they had been dropped by ABC — I’ve been watching AMC since 1970 (I was 15). I LOVE Royal Pains and Wilfred so this is obviously a company with credibility. It will be VERY interesting to see how “original” TV shows will evolve on the internet — advertising etc. I am skeptical, but am willing to go with the flow, and I’m sure I will manage to continue to watch, even though I’ll have to modify how and when I watch (which is usually weekend mornings in bed!) Prospect Productions and Pine Valley — you have my full support!
Bless you, Prospect Park!
It was a very happy day for me. I had this idea that it could be on the internet and this is the main way that I get to watch these shows anyway. Now I might even invest in the newer tech ways to be able to watch anywhere-anytime. Thank you Prospect Park!
This is wonderful news maybe not a perfect scenario but surely better than the alternative. Guess what Frons-the babyboomers use computers too- To me this is a baby step and who knows what the future can bring with a new production company, Thanks PP this old bag is very happy.
Hallelujah! I am shouting as loud as I can! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
will we be able to watch in Canada
I am very greatful to Prospect Park Productions for saving AMC and OLTL. I have been a fan for 35 year and was devasted to learn they were cancelled. I will do whatever it takes to watch online. Thanks
Initially, this sounds wonderful, but the quality of OLTL depends on continuing with the same producer, cast, and crew in New York. Please maintain OLTL intact and bring back Trevor St. John, Robin Strasser, and Gina Tognoni. While you are working on this, come up with a storyline to bring back Gigi (and Farah, or reincarnate her as another character), who never should have been killed off in the first place.
I am afraid to get my hopes up, after everything that has happened within the last couple of months. Please make this work.
i want to know what online is showing AMC/OLTL. Are they playing AMC/OLTL on youtube.com for 2012 i want to know please send reply
As a longtime OLTL fan, I am thrilled to find out that it isn’t going to die in January 2012. I am also a curious to know a little more about how Prospect Park works. Will we have to pay to view OLTL and AMC? If not, will we be able to view it at anytime? I work and usually watch when I get home from work. Will I still be able to do this?
Thank you.
What is going on with Nicky on Y&R? Is she not coming back? That would be horrible if she does not come back. Great actress, great character. Belongs on Y&R.
Please respond.
Love Nick’s hair on Y&R – he looks so handsome. Can you get Daniel on Y&R to cut his hair – way too long – no style.
Thank you Prospect Park! All my Children and OLTL are quality shows whose actors are dedicated to their profession. These 2 soaps are more ‘real’ than the many reality shows on primtime tv. I am appreciative of your foresight to license these programs and trust that your marketing campaign will produce long-term sponsors. My background is marketing and management and I truly believe while ABC made a mistake cancelling these shows, they did use good judgement in licensing them. As a relatively new compapny, I believe Prospect Park will ensure these shows will be financially profitable through good marketing and management. The fan base is already firmly established. Congratulations! Louise
I am totally stoked to hear of the licensing of All My Children and One Life to Live to Prospect Park. I was hoping something like a cable network or online media production was going to acquire the shows and my wish came true. I have been watching these shows on and off for almost 30 years and have appreciated the work and effort that it takes to produce the quality entertainment and in many instances the education they provide. I look forward to the announcement from Prospect Park about their productions and tune-in details.
I am so happy. Myy sis and I have watched these shows since we were old enough to know what we were watching. Thank uu to the powers that be, not including Brian Frons,
and may the light of goodness always shine on u.
Although this news is good there are way too many details we don’t have to be excited and counting our chickens. I think everyone needs to continue to send in their coupons and remember that we started this fight so that all soap fans would still be able to access their shows just like they can now. http://www.sudz.tv If you are not comfortable putting in your address just fill out your town, zip and state.. please pay no mind to the negative people they have been nothing but hindrances to the cause and they have never been helpful. The majority of the fighters know that we deserve a soap channel and we can win this war but we have to do it together!
Exciting news ! As a 30 year viewer of both soaps, I will be watching online. I have been watching online the past year anyway. I am glad to see the soap watcher are taken seriously.
when will I be able to get amc and oltl on line or will they be broadcast on the soap channel? This is so wonderful!!!
