BREAKING NEWS: Kimberly McCullough Leaving General Hospital!

Courtesy/ABC

Seems like the rumor mill was correct and now Soap Opera Digest is reporting on their official Facebook page that it is confirmed, that indeed, Daytime Emmy winner and long time fan favorite, Kimberly McCullough is leaving General Hospital as Dr. Robin Scorpio Drake.

According to the post, “Kimberly McCullough has decided to pursue her dream of directing full-time, so she has decided to leave General Hospital as storyline dictates,” says a show spokesperson. “Expect a poignant and must watch storyline for Robin and Patrick.”

In addition the news reports that Kimberly will air into the early months of 2012! This announcement comes on the heels of the news that Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) has also opted to leave the series, all of which does not bode well for a show that needs its strong performers in a fight to the finish to try and stay on the air as 2012 is the key turning point to whether it lives on or gets cancelled like the other ABC Daytime Dramas.

So what do you think of Kimberly’s decision? Let us know!

Good for her, to get out before the show gets cancelled. And once it does get cancelled, don’t look for Prospect Park to do anything, because they can’t even save themselves!

This is sad news! Robin and Patrick have been and continue to be one of the best things about GH…

I’ve seen these comments on multiple sites about actors leaving a sinking ship. Yes, daytime is unfortunately a dying genre, but why would these actors decide to leave now? Why not just ride it out and collect a stable payday as long as they can? Let’s face it, many of the cast of GH will not be getting regular acting roles when the series comes to an end. It just doesn’t make financial sense, to me at least, for them to leave the show now. Kimberly wants to go into directing full-time, that’s fine, but it couldn’t wait 6 months… Read more »

Good for her although this is sad news I’m happy for Kimberly I didn’t no Kimberly wanted to direct full time. I like the idea that she wants to direct full time we need more women directors. Good luck to you Kimberly your number one fan.

I wish Kimberly the best of luck, and while I understand she is doing what is best for her (as it should be), as a long time fan of all three ABC Soaps, I am so very sad to see this wonderful genre disappearing, and would love to see everyone stay in place at GH, because if everyone starts jumping ship, they have no shot at survival on ABC. Again, I do not blame those that leave, as you must put your own career first, but I hope most decide to stick it out, and see if it can survive… Read more »

This is bittersweet news…Kimberly and Robin have grown up before our eyes on GH and she’s had some pretty terrific storylines over the years.
But it’s very exciting -the prospect of her directing full time.
Good for you Kimberly.

Best to jump off the sinking ship while you can, it must be bad behind the scenes for these veteran actors to bail.

kimberly and jason thompson message to scrubs fans From @whitewatercrew (about 20 mins ago): Thank you for your tweets. I have read ALL of them. I wish I had words for the type of gratitude I feel for all of your support……for so many years. Personally, I feel like it’s the right time for me to pursue my dream of directing episodic TV as well as writing…and directing feature films. I am heartbroken as well. To leave Robin, a character that is a huge part of myself and my life. GH is my family and you (the fans) are like… Read more »

I”m so sad about the news of Kimberly leaving GH, and acting as well, I wish her nothing but the best, however, i’m sad because this means the end for her wonderful character, and now theres no chance of Robert and Anna returning full time. I really feel like GH is dying out slowly, and will end with no chance of going out w/ a bang, especially if its stars start leaving before it ends.

Wouldn’t have been funny if she directed GH? Hell, she could have written for it as well.

Best regards Kim.

I will be sorry to see you leave the show as I have watched you since you were a little girl. If your story line is to die due to aids it will truly be sad but fitting. I am only guessing on this but wish you the best in your up coming adventures.

I AM SO UPSET , I ACTUALLY CRIED I HAD A SPECIAL NICKNAME THAT I CALLED ROBIN IT WAS (PEANUT) . THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN SHE WAS 6-7 YEARS WITH THE FRONT MISSING TEETH . NOW THERE IS NO WAY THAT SHE CAN COME BACK , BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY THAT SHE WOULD HAVE AN EVIL TWIN .

I seldom get to watch GH because I work full time, but this young lady was one of my favorite characters on the show. Her storyline through the years has been good and I’ve enjoyed the role she played in her marriage. I hope GH can survive with both Lucky and Robin leaving the show. It’s a good show and I enjoy the characters who have been with the show for many years.

I’ve been a fan more than 2 decades and have grown very close to most of the cast. I can almost assure you if Robin, Jason, Sonny, Carley, Dante’, Lulu and Michael leave GH will be history. Knowing Jason is gone I doubt if I watch it anymore!!

GH’s Kirsten Storms Shares More Details on Her Brain Surgery and Recovery

On Sunday, Kirsten Storms (Maxie, General Hospital) posted a follow-up message on her Instagram account to her friends and followers on how she is doing following her brain surgery, and to answer any questions that may be out on there; so she decided to share further details.

Storms expressed: “First, thank you for all of the well wishes I’ve received over the last few days. 🥰 Little bit of info for those who are wondering.. I spent the last few years having random health issues that I disregarded as side affects to my medications or just something I was experiencing due to age. When I went to get an MRI for some severe neck pain I have been experiencing for the last few months (I assumed this neck pain was also causing my frequent “migraines”) my amazingly thorough orthopedist ordered an MRI of my head just to be on the “safe side” – even though that isn’t his area of expertise.  Truly a great doctor.  That’s when we stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain. I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn’t more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it. I’m not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I’m immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible “work family” who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I’ve been feeling a lot of emotions. Work is a great place to be everyday and for the 2 months leading up to my surgery I found a lot of comfort being around the people I’ve worked beside for so many years. I’m excited to get back to it after my recovery. (Yes, they shaved a portion of my head, so please no comments if you don’t like my hair. It’s temporary.). Again, thank you to everyone for sending positive vibes my way. It’s not gone unnoticed. ♥️

Fun fact: I now firmly believe the new plates in my brain will give me some sort of special ability. Fingers crossed I can suddenly knit a sweater in 1 day. Ooo maybe 1 hour. 😮”

Please continue to send well-wishes to Kirsten via the comment section below as she is on the mend, and we look forward to her return to GH when she is recovered.
