Camila Banus Exits Days of our Lives as Gabi is Sent to Prison
The November 9th episode of Days of our Lives marks the end of the 0n-screen run of Camila Banus as Gabi Hernandez DiMera. In story, Gabi is going to prison for the murder of Li Shin (Remington Hoffman).
Banus made it known back in May of this year that she was leaving the role she has played on and off since 2010. After 13 years in the role, Camila told The Wrap, “There’s definitely been a lot of changes at Days, the last couple of years, one being moving to Peacock. Although it’s been wonderful and we’ve had a super great reception, for me, I felt like that was kind of like the initial start for changes happening in general. And I kind of just saw that as a sign for me to start the next chapter in my life.”
The actress shared she was interested in continuing on DAYS if her shooting schedule could be addressed: “I was, honestly, open to renegotiating a certain type of shooting schedule where I would have a little bit more time off. But they didn’t go for it.”

When she wrapped taping her episodes, Camila added, “I’s a good time for me to step away and just take a reset. It’s going to be hard for me to let go of Gabi in that sense. But I think with soaps and the way that we work, it’s never always a for-sure good-bye.”
As viewers have seen in recent episodes, Gabi was holding a knife and kneeling over Li Shin’s body. EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), who is now the DA of Salem, made sure the book was thrown at Gabi for all of her and Stefan’s machinations against him.

On today’s episode, Gabi said a tearful goodbye to her daughter Arianna over the phone. and then a heartfelt final scene with Stefan as played by Brandon Barash before being taken away in handcuffs.

ReRon strikes again! Only this time, he didn’t write Gabi’s first prison stint for a murder she didn’t commit. It’s really too bad that plagiarism isn’t an offense in soap land, I’m getting tired of all these storyline repeats. How long before Li’s true murderer is caught, and they bring Gabi back with a recast? Are there any Latina actresses DAYS has previously cast as someone else to step into the role?
I suspect this one was more Albert Alarr’s fault than ReRon’s. Word here in Hell is that he was a major part of why Camila walked away from the show. That being the case, I wouldn’t be surprised if her absence is temporary, since Alarr has been gone since August.
I pretty much predicted this is exactly how it would happen the day Gabi & Stefan forced EJ out of the DiMera family business. He needed a job, there was an opening in the DA’s office, and the day he takes a job, a murder case falls in his lap that allows him to get revenge on a personal grudge.

Gabi is one of the best. I have not kept up. I got in to Chesapeake Shores. A great series and they don’t do the stupid repeating of the same store line. My daughter keep me up with Days. Check out the Chesapeake Shores.
It is my firm belief that Wei Shin murderer Li because he signed over his shares, and because he wanted to frame Gabi for conning Li out of those shares.
Well, we know from Li’s recent therapy session with Marlena that Wei was a major dick to his son when he was a teenager… but I think killing his own son would be a bit of a stretch.
More likely this was the work of one of Redneck Clyde’s hired thugs, who went to the apartment to threaten either Tripp or Wendy, to keep Ava “in line” as far as Clyde’s drug business goes. And poor Li just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and thugs being thugs, they don’t often like to leave witnesses who might be able to identify them to cops.
As far as Li’s alleged “last words” which identified Gabi as his killer? That was probably just pure revenge on his part. Obviously he knew he was about to die, and figured it was an opportunity to use his last seconds on your side of Earth’s crust as a way to get back at Gabi. (also providing an excuse for her to leave the show, naturally)
Have those same thoughts! Or Li did it himself as to not face his dad.

I’m not loving Gabi’s exit storyline. This is the second time they are sending her away for a crime she didn’t commit. She is also a woman of color and this is all too familiar in the real world so I think the writers need to do better. This seemed like a last ditch effort to come up with a quick exit strategy for her and it was sloppy and rushed. They could have done something different. Lastly, this is unrelated, but can they please stop the absolutely nauseating scenes between John and Marlena? It’s really stomach turning the way they gush all over each other as if they are brand new into their relationship. They are not college sweethearts going through the honeymoon stage of their relationship. They have been together almost 40 years so not only is their dynamic unrealistic, it’s very contrived. I have to fast forward their scenes especially anything to do with strawberries and cream and him feeding her. Just stop. It’s like watching your grandparents get it on. Just no.
Was getting sick of her conniving ways and getting away with it. Hope they get rid of Stefan as well. Camila did play a good part making people hate her. She’ll do well in her future endeavors.

I think the whole story stinks. This arrest and sentence was faster than any on any soap I’ve ever watched. One, two, three! Shut the door and loose the key! Silly story. I thought it would be more in character for Gaby to have gone on the run. It’s just as ridiculous to have EJ be the new DA and get away for throwing the book at her for personal reasons. And someone like Glen on the police force? What a farce! Right now, I hope all of this season is one big dream like Jennifer had and the clocks get set back a year come 2024. Ugh!

Yes, I am. Instead of going to jail as their exit plan for her, the writers could have her leave for New Zealand as Arianna was in a life threatening accident. This accident has a long term rehab which will keep Gabi away till a replacement can be found. Then down the road Gabi will come back home with new cast members playing Gabi and Arianna – as a teenager and possibly confronting Stephan about an affair he had with his IT gal Friday and now pregnant mistress.
She’s the best Days should of gave her ,her offer she talented n beautiful n funny bring her back ASAP!!!

I didn’t care for it. This was a holiday for her enemies, like the Julie Williams alumni. At least it was better than killing her off. This was so quick, no trial, no bail etc. Even Kristen managed to tape several months of scenes from her cell. This seemed more like the way Albert Alaar wrote her exit. Didn’t care she was the girl next door, America’s sweetheart. Camila deserves way better than this show and figures to be a good time for me to leave it’s confines. No more Days so it signaled an end for me too. At least she likes Miami. Maybe we’ll see her on celebrity reality series.

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Tops With 18, ‘Beyond the Gates’ With 16
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and it was CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless and broadcast television newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates that racked up the most nominations with 18 and 16, respectively.
The full reveal on Tuesday follows the announcement of several major categories including Lead Actor and Actress on Monday via Extra and Entertainment Tonight and The View today revealing Daytime Drama Series and more.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.

In a statement, Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS expressed, “We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television, As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
“Each year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and dedication that drive this vibrant community of storytellers,” said Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. “Congratulations to this year’s nominees, whose work continues to entertain, inspire and connect with audiences every day. We look forward to celebrating their remarkable achievements in Hollywood this October.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Gold & Silver Circle Inductees, and ceremony host will be announced at a later date.

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …
The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.
Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

DAYTIME TALK SERIES
In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series category, the nominees are: 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends and The View.

The rest of the nominations will be revealed tomorrow on Tuesday July 14 starting on The View and then the full list of nominees in both the main and creative arts will be released by NATAS. The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are slated for October 30th in Hollywood, California.

It’s Daytime Emmy nomination week, and as previously reported things kick-off on Monday, July 13 when Entertainment Tonight (7pm ET) will announce the nominees for Lead Actress category and Daytime Talk Series for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards. In addition on Monday, Extra (7pm ET) will reveal the nominees for Lead Actor and Daytime Talk Host.
On Tuesday, The View (11am ET) starts things off with their announcement of Daytime Drama, Entertainment News program and Outstanding Daytime Personality-Daily. That is followed by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) full reveal of all the categories beginning at 12noon ET/9am PT on their website and their official social handles on X and Instagram.
Then, Tuesday night at 8pm ET/5pm PT join Michael Fairman as he hosts his 12th annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2026 live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel where he will chat with some of the just announced nominees as we celebrate the hard work of the men and women in front of the camera who will be going for gold.
WHEN ARE THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
This year, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out on October 30 in ceremonies in Hollywood, California (Venue yet to be revealed). At that time, as like last year, both the major categories and creative arts will be presented. There is no word yet on a broadcast partner for the annual celebration of daytime programming, or if it will soley be streamed on NATAS’ watch.theemmys.tv and various apps and platforms.
