Ah, Pine Valley! Fans who watched Tuesday’s episode of Entertainment Tonight saw ET correspondent and former All My Children star, Cameron Mathison (Ex-Ryan) reunited with the iconic Carol Burnett, who actually appeared on the series as Verla Grubbs.

Burnett is promoting her new book out today, In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox which takes readers back in time, sharing hilarious behind-the-scenes stories of her beloved variety series, The Carol Burnett Show.

Carol Burnett told Mathison, “I was such a fan of All My Childen and of course, Ryan Lavery!” Later, the two get ready for a game of “Soap Stylings”!

First up was “The Soap Opera Stare” followed by “The Soap Fake Slap”.  Mathison’s set-ups were hilarious, and Burnett was as funny as ever.

Take a stroll down memory lane with Burnett and Mathison after the jump, and let us know if you recall Burnett as Verla Grubbs opposite Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) and company on All My Children in the comment section below!

There will never be another Carol Burnett and a variety show like hers-it was the best of its kind,-the Gone With The Wind Spoof was my favorite sketch…loved Mamas Family-Vicki Lawrence looked a lot like and acted like my late paternal grandma plus dressed like her two…As The Stomach Turns was her soap spoof-there wasnt one thing i disliked about the show except i hated to see it end…Yes, i remember her AMC visit as Verla and Liz Taylors Surprise appearance too…i have an All My Children book autographed by Micheal Nader and the late David Canary!…Also an autograph picture of Jill Larson whom i met over 20 years ago…AMC wasnt good in its finale years but i still miss it!!!

Yes I remember Carol as Verla Grubbs, and I think her long-lost father turned out to be Langley who was married to Phoebe (I could be wrong about that). In another episode, Liz Taylor actually made a rare appearance as a cleaning woman (she was friendly with Carol Burnett) and when another character asked Verla, “do you know who that is?” Verla responded “I have no idea” while viewers of couse knew it was
Elizabeth Taylor. It was well known that Carol was a big fan of ALL MY CHILDREN which by the way I miss to this day.

WATCH: All My Children Reunion On Strahan & Sara

On Monday’s episode of ABC’s Strahan & Sara, the show welcomed several stars of the beloved All My Children for a reunion, of sorts. Joining hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines were Susan Lucci (Erica), Walt Willey (Jack), Cady McClain (Dixie), Jacob Young (JR) and Jill Larson (Opal).

While it was wonderful to see the stars from Pine Valley again, it was also a painful reminder that this network, ABC, canceled the show, and had put in its place – The Chew, and now Strahan & Sara – since canning the series.   In fact, as you will see on the clips below, many of the crew who work on this talk show were once the crew for All My Children.

During the segment, Susan Lucci was tested to see if she remembered all of Erica Kane’s wedded names.  Later, Walt Willey and Susan re-created the final scene of the ABC version of All My Children between Erica and Jack, where Jack walks out on her.  However, this time, they have Jack changing his mind and coming back to Erica and sealing their relationship with a kiss – a moment of closure that never happened (since the show moved to online via Prospect Park).

In addition, Cady McClain and Jacob Young re-created the infamous Dixie “dying from eating poison pancakes” scene, as JR watches his mother die, only this time she lives.

It’s always great to see these veteran performers, but Strahan & Sara is trying to capture the soap viewers to put eyeballs on their show by bringing in talent from the show that sadly and wrongly went off the air.

Watch the clips below from the All My Children reunion below.  Then, let us know what you thought of it via the comment section below.
