Casting All My Children: Who Are Grace, Hunter & Heather? New Roles … SORAS'D Characters… Recasts?

Courtesy/ABC

As many fans have been noticing, the online version of All My Children is skewing young these days with its recent casting notices.  While long time AMC fans are hoping for news that some of their big name favorites will still sign on the dotted line and join Prospect Park’s Pine Valley reboot, casting is ongoing for the following three roles!

According to Soap Opera Digest, AMC is looking to fill the follwing younger demo roles: “The contract role of Grace, who is described as a blonde, driven, sexy, Caucasian girl in her early 20s, and the recurring roles of Hunter, a handsome, confident bad boy, Caucasian, 16 to 18-years old and Heather, a beautiful 18-year-old Caucasian queen bee.”

So soapers, do you think Grace, Hunter, and Heather are new roles for a new late-teen scene? Do you think they are some of the original Pine Valley residents children SORAS’d? Or, do you think they are recasts?  Weigh-in! And then let us know who do you think would be a good casting suggestions for the three roles?

If they are the kids that got Soars’d why would they change the characters names?

They use different names in the casting calls to throw people off so they don’t know who they are casting and spoil possible story.

Emma Lavery, Spike Lavery Slater and Jenny Martin?

I don’t think it is Emma only because Ryan and Annie are not coming back. More likely Dixie and Tad’s daughter Jenny. This will give them more story too since I am sure that Dixie and Tad are coming back too.

Jenny is Tad & Krystal’s daughter. Kate (Kathy) is T&D’s.

That’s what I meant, Kathy will be older girl and younger girl will be Jenny. Emma will be off at college or something and if Ryan ever joins show then maybe she will be cast.

I hate SORAS and hope it is not done especially with the really cute ones. The last Emma (if they ahve Emma ) was adorable. I hope this show will not be aimed at Teenagers and forget about the rest of us. Just because it’s named AMC- if it’s totally different it may not last. I dont care if it has every character, but it needs to be basicially the same show and respect it’s roots.I thought it skewed too young before. Too much Babe and JR and not enough of the older generation.

The AMC of the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s dealt with multi generations from different social classes. I am hoping it goes that. The current AMC gad too many young children and not enough teens and young people with decent stories. Colby and Damon was a good start.

I give up…what is SORAS?

Soap Opera Rapid Age Syndrome….its’ when a ten year old kid goes to camp in June and comes back a hunky teen or beauty queen in September! ; )

Hi. It’s a soap opera term. It means Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.
I can’t underline here, but it’s the first letter of each. It took me a long time to figure it out. But I figured it out as it’s in the soap opera magazines all the time.
I hate it. I mean some kids are uninteresting. But if someone is 25 and then has a 10 year old kid a year later? It’s stupid. If they want more action- then get a new character. Like on AMC have a new family move in with kids of different ages if you want an older kid. Don’t make Emma 15. I don’t know if Cameron Mathison is coming back. I just used that as an example. I think he probably thinks he’s too big for a soap now. Whenever he’s on TV he seems like he has a really big opinion of himself.

SORAS=Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome

I can understand that Prospect Park would want to appeal to a mix of viewers, including younger fans, but I wouldn’t want to see AMC turned into a high school soap. While I’m pleased with the veteran actors who have signed on, I’m still hoping for more of them. I really hope Prospect Park doesn’t make the same mistake the management at ABC made when they canceled AMC because they wanted to cater to the under 49 age group. As a viewer of this fabulous soap from day one, I intend to be around for another 30 years watching AMC. Please Prospect Park, don’t forget about your older viewers. I will certainly welcome the younger actors, but lets make sure the show appeals to all ages.

I have come to the sad conclusion that the only people that the advertisers care about are in that age group. It’s funny because us older folks are the ones spending the money. I do not like this but it is infiltrating the soaps so what can you do?

I’m afraid if they’re too youth oriented this AMC resurrection will be doomed to fail. If they change it too much and don’t bring back enough of the vets they’re defeating the whole purpose of the reboot. As to the new young casting call, it would be nice if they were using them to fill the old roles of Emma, Opal’s son Pete, J. R.’s son, etc.

OLTL is good to go….. all the STARS are back…. so to speak.

AMC… should WAIT… some… till they can get more of the cast back… I too am afraid, moreso for AMC….

agree with you Peggy…. they’re deating the whole purpose of the reboot….

on line viewers need to know they’re investing time to watch the “orig” cast…. or most of the cast we last saw.

they’re defeating

I want the orginial crew! That I have watched for years! I don’t want too many new characters at all. I identify with the characters I watched for years.

Of all the casting calls that they have posted this is who I believe they will be.
Ben is Pete Cortlandt
Charlotte is Miranda Montgomery
Luke is AJ Chandler
Grace is Kathy Martin
Hunter is maybe a new character or one of Kendall/Zack’s son’s.
Heather is Jenny Martin

It’s sounding like a new soap. I’m not interested in a new soap, I was looking forward to AMC and OLTL. Things aren’t looking good for AMC casting. Where are the Martins?

OLTL will survive, it has its core familiar cast, and that is a good thing, it will be much the same and carry over its’ fan..

AMC was doomed from its’ cancellation..
None of the cast, but 3 non core actors ,were willing to go. on .
AMC needs to rebuild, there no longer is an AMC vet cast to carry on as it once was..

I am an AMC Fan….

truth be told….

I’d rather see one good soap… because from the get go…. OLTL has it’s CORE ACTORS RETURNING…. THAT PP INVEST… in OLTL … and

sadly… delay AMC till further notice…. it’s like the expectations would be a blow to what AMC is.

Good point. I’ll take your statement one step further – AMC was doomed from the moment they moved it from NY to California. Part of AMC’s charm was always its’ East Coast roots. It was a New York soap. And it was spectacular. When they moved to CA, it lost some of its charm and was never the same great soap it once was. In my opinion, it lost its heart. When the end came, and favorite characters were reunited, it was a little late at that point. The damage had been done. It seems they are following that path now. The Castillos are set but no main characters other than Dr David are confirmed. Huh? One thing that was important with OLTL is that it never lost who it was. The core characters were always there. The last year was amazing. The show got better and better. When it ended, it ended on a high note. That momentum can be continued. Unfortunately, AMC didn’t have the same momentum.

Do not forget Angie a nd Jesse are there, they are pretty veteran if you ask me. Zack is also there, so Kendall can not be far behind. There shows are going to start off very slow they do not have alot of money to get the original show back intact, plus alot of the actors have moved on to other things Susan has two shows, Cameron does a variety of things, as does Cady (who is rumored to be coming back)

As far as aging the characters, I hear the show is going to start a year later from when it ended. So techinically they should not be aged, but you know if they age one of the younger ones, be it Jenny, Kathy, AJ, Emma, Spike they have to age them all since they are close to the same age.

Petey makes sense because we have not seen him in a while. I think if the other kids come back and they are aged they will be teens. I do not like it, but that is the way it is going to be I am afraid.

But we really have to wait and see what they present to us, as it is the audience is not going to be large, being that it is online.

It is more than obvious the PP is bringing ”new” younger actors..
after all it is All My ”Children” perhaps they decided to use younger, which is a great thing..
AMC was on life support its’ last years, the cast was too old, senior citizens and they are not good to entice younger people to watch..

PP is writing for a new generation who do watch via net and devices..
They will hold onto all they can get of the core families but outside of that, there will be big changes for AMC; not so for OLTL.. imo..

I still can’t believe… no word on Thadeus…..

I’m choosing to believe he’s the SURPRISE….. the frosting on the cake if you will.

i can’t diss what the SORA’s is about…

however… if the CORE returnees… are OPAL… perhaps BROOKE? THE HUBBARDS ARE A SURE THING… love Cara… her brother… Dr. David….

IMO… it just seems bleak…. SORA’s works… but, not for a whole CAST?

——————-

in any event…. i want that: soap stars are employed.

Where are all the stars of AMC. We fought to get them back. New is good but old is stable. It won’t be AMC if the stars aren’t there.

I agree Nancy! I am not interested in having Prospect Park age all the characters to the point that they are not recognizable. I along with many others do not want them to start the show a year from where it left off. I want to know who JR shot. What happened to Erica and Jack. Did Adam and Brooke stay in PV, etc… baloney on all this other krap! PP should care about what the viewers want. We fought long and hard to get these shows back and now they are recasting all the kids on the show and they aren’t releasing any of the names since the initial few have signed onto AMC… NOT good business, especially if they want viewers to watch. Communication is always key.

For goodness sakes people, Everytime they put out a call for a new character it’s “the show had better not be taken over by the newbies.” And Everytime they soras a child it’s “They had better bombard with teen storylines.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but was there ever a time ALL of the adults disappeared and for months we were only shown teen storylines? No. So it’s not gonna happen.
We know they change names when sending out casting calls. Most of the actors who played legacy characters haven’t signed on as far as we know. And most of these casting calls are recurring characters. Meaning we may only see them for five out of the thirty minute show every other month if at all.
The most important thing is to get people watching. All ages. All demographics. It may suck not seeing your favorite character in every scene, but they’re the professionals. Let’s trust that every decision is being made for the well-being of our show.
AND I can’t see Agnus signing off to characters or storylines that aren’t true to the show.

Relax and take a breath sometime. We’re about to get our shows back!!!!! Yaaay! Happy day! They may be a little different and take some adjusting to get used too, but Agnus is not going to let them destroy her babies! 🙂

Well said… about Agnus Nixon….

thats something to hold on to…..

food for thought….

OLTL remains true to itself….

AMC for a NEW ON LINE VENTURE….. has to SORA’s a new cast… and lure in younger viewers….? I’d venture, it’s a worth while crap shoot…. honestly… the core cast, the good majority… are not available…. what can we expect?

AMC has always been a Peyton Place style, so I can relate that core characters are not available then following the example of Peyton Place with a New Generation and start from scratch without losing the essence of Pine Valley. In soap land, almost 2 years is 10 years in soapdom. OLTL was strong and the story has continued on GH, so they can continue. AMC has to reinvent itself.

THANK YOU! Everyone gets too agitated too quickly!

And I agree that Agnes Nixon will NOT let her shows or characters be untrue to her vision.

Come on guys!!! Just be happy that our soap is coming back 🙂

Sorry…. don’t want to project doom n’ gloom… it’s hurry up and wait….. baited breath time… till AMC is fleshed out….. bottom line.

Brian tripp – nice casting call… sheet… on who the potential could be…. that’s treat enough just seeing those last names….

have to hold on folks…. Agnus is signed on … Per the hugo-boss…. agnus cares….

—————
nuOLTL! come out blazing…. !

So many possibilities…. Maria and Edmund’s kids Sam and Maddie would be teenagers now as would Haley and Mateo’s son Lorenzo. And what about Charlie’s kids. Isn’t it about time David’s little brother Trey got released from prison for good behavior….

tolerant hollywood’s casting calls are asking for more white characters? bec white chars are never represented on soap operas right? how are these soap revivals gonna be edgy if they keep using tokenism and quotas for racial minority chars?

Well, out of the seven characters FOR SURE signed to a contract, five of them are ethnic. Right now, Debbie is the biggest name signed on. AND they’ve already stated they’re going to recast her daughter. And they’re not done with castings and creating storylines. So how is that tokenism and “quota”? What other daytime show has as strong of an ethnic ensemble in leading contracted roles??? You’re comment, referring to these amazing actors who are also daytime Emmy nominees and have driven many compelling storylines, as “quotas and tokens” is far more offensive and racist than anything any of these shows are dishing out.

lindsay hartley is white. She’s not a racial minority. She’s not a latina even if she’s best known for portraying a part latina on passions. typical whitewashing from hollywood w/c often practices quotas and tokens w/ racial minorities. and btw I was referring to oltl reboot w/ regards to quotas and tokens and that oltl reboot is being done by the same group that’s running the amc reboot. only the Asian american chars are recurring on oltl’s reboot. such edginess! everyone knows that hollywood’s racist. a lot of racial minority actors have called hollywood racist. denzel washington has called hollywood harsh towards black women and he complained abt the hollywood’s lack of racial diversity during the academy award nominees luncheon by mentioning “you see many people like me walking thru the door?” perhaps daytime soaps ratings would not have plummeted and soaps would not have gotten axed had they been more racially diverse. there’s not 1 daytime soap opera and primetime soap that has ever had a core Asian american family. there’s not 1 primetime medical drama that has had majority Asian american doctors despite pew research reporting that Asian americans are the most educated among all groups and are the majority among professional and managerial roles. that new tnt medical drama only has token racial minorities. there’s 1 African american male doctor portrayed by ving rhames and 1 Asian american male doctor and 1 Asian american female doctor. the other 5 chars who are the majority are white. the leading female char is portrayed by former daytime actress jennifer finnigan and the leading male char is white. it’s bec everything has to be told from white char’s perspectives. even the styling of the show is completely racist. they style the leading white male doctor flatteringly w/ his wavy hair and show of his arms but the Asian american male doctor has to be styled unflatteringly of course w/ the glasses and the dorky hairstyle. who got launched to the A list again as the romantic lead of a medical drama? oh yeah george clooney. yeah bec all opportunities must be given to white actors bec they’re never represented right? it’s hilarious how people like you scream racism at people who call hollywood racist w/c it obviously is.

Actually Lindsey Hartley is Greek and Italian. And I believe Jewish as well. And this is a reboot. Not a remake or next generation. Meaning they’re starting from where they’ve left off. How about you see where these NEW producers and writers are going to take it before you just label them racists. You don’t know. And if it’s too big of an issue for you, why don’t you stop watching and supporting or insulting a group of people you have no idea about.
Yes, is there white washing in Hollywood. Of course. But have there been great strides and advances as well. Yes! It takes time. Is it taking a little longer than some would like, yeah, but you know what at least it’s happening. But the way to hep continue the change isn’t by getting on and insulting them. When have insults ever helped someone accomplish their goal.
Some of us on here are fans of these shows regardless. I’m an African American. And yes I’d love and fully support more ethnicity being shown. But I love the shoes and the stories and as for what I can see, we’re heading in a good direction.

she’s italian and greek and therefore she is not a latina. white actors and actresses have no business portraying roles of racial minorities. they are being a part of the problem bec they’re taking away roles from racial minority actors and actress who already have very limited opportunities to begin w/ bec hollywood obviously thinks discriminating against racial minorities thru whitewashing is acceptable. hollywood repeatedly whitewashes racial minority chars and therefore soaps like amc are following the typical hollywood traditions of marginalizing racial minorities. hollywood should be called racist more often.

but instead the entertainment press rallies around hollywood’s racist products much like you’re rallying around amc. the entertainment press and hollywood praise tv shows like mad men and thinks it’s realistic for no racial minorities to be a part of a 60s ny era tv show. But it’s completely “realistic” that ny based tv shows like “how i met your mother” and “girls” have casts w/ only white people and ny based soap opera like gh has no Asian american doctors. This is what you call great strides?

hollywood is very racist towards Asian americans. majority of the chars from the movie 21 were whitewashed. the leading actor was some nobody named jim sturgess who’s british. they had to hire a dialect coach for him. And yet the movie 21 is based on Asian american MIT students. hollywood would rather have a british actor who is white than hire Asian american actors to portray Asian americans! historical Asian chars like genghis khan are portrayed by white actor mickey rourke. katherine hepburn donned yellowface. mickey rooney donned yellowface to bash Asian americans as racist char Mr. Yunioshi from one of hollywood’s most cherished films breakfast at tifanys. yes those are old films but hollywood still employs whitewashing. the lead Japanese soldier char from “all you need is kill” was whitewashed for tom cruise. what does hollywood say? oh it’s bec it’s tom cruise and he’s an A lister and he’s known. and yet hollywood whitewashed the Japanese chars from dragon ball w/ unknown white actors. It’s not abt A list status and being a known actor. It’s bec hollywood doesn’t want leading role opportunities to be created for Asian american actors. hollywood’s not abt money. they’re abt controlling and shaping the culture and thus whiteness has to be idealized by them. Will smith has the highest grossing films. isn’t hollywood abt making money? shouldn’t there be more racial minority actors that are A listers then? there should be more opportunities bec a black actor’s films are the most profitable. But there are not bec hollywood has reached it’s “quota” for racial minority A listers while white actors like Taylor Kitsch can get tons of lead roles even if all his films where he’s the lead are flops.

It’s the same w/ primetime tv. Former soap actress jennifer finnigan has had tons of flop primetime tv shows yet she is the lead on tnt’s medical drama. It’s bec whiteness is universal for hollywood. every storyline told from a white char is “universal” while storylines told from a racial minority’s perspective is “niche” for the very tolerant crowd of hollywood. BTW that medical drama’s Asian american doctor of course must be described as socially awkward w/c is obviously a subliminal put down. And he has difficulty w/ the englis language! The Asian american char has to be bad at speaking! Such blatant racism. While the leading man white doctor is described as having a god complex w/c is earned! The Asian american doctor can’t speak well and is socially awkward while the white doctor is their god. Can hollywood’s white privilege and racism be any more blatant than that?

it’s the same w/ soaps. the same white actors get the leading roles and bounce from 1 soap to the next and nothing happens to drastically improve the ratings. gh gets all this praise yet it’s ny based and it lacks racial diversity. gh has no Asian american doctors. soaps are abt wealthy families. pew research has reported that Asian americans have the highest median income among all groups but not a single daytime and primetime soap has ever had a core Asian american family bec soaps are abt the wealthy and therefore they have to be abt white families bec hollywood’s abt preserving their status. hollywood loves to scream “tolerance” yet they are the most racist to racial minorities and especially towards Asian americans.

Listen Bitter party of one, I’m mad at myself for allowing this to carry on this far. There are only a couple of things in general that really make me mad. And people who choose anger and aggression and name-calling, when it’s not necessary, over finding more productive ways of making their point known, are one of them.
I can’t even read all of what you just wrote. And at the end of the day, it’s pointless. I get it. You think all of Hollywood is racist. You want more Asain Americans. Lindsey Hartley should be burned at the stake for auditioning and accepting a role to feed her family, that she’s great in……I’m sorry you’re angry but again, don’t watch then. Don’t support. Don’t come on sites that you know are about the things you loathe. Cause guess what, I’m the only idiot who fell into this convo with you. It’s pointless. You have a great life. And hope your TiVo is set on shows that will feature more Asain American characters. I’m sure what you’re doing is a great way to make that happen! ;-p

you’re upset that people are upset when they write abt hollywood’s racism. You’re really smart! And now you’ll write that you “can’t understand” anything I wrote. You’re obviously pretending that you can’t understand bec you can’t refute anything I wrote. Your writing is full of anger and resentment and bitterness. I’m guessing it’s bec you hate it that hollywood is being called racist w/c frankly it is. I don’t think hartley should be “burned” like a witch and you’re being soapy and melodramatic to deflect from the specific issue that white actors and actresses should not take roles that are not racially accurate to them. But whitewashing is obviously an accepted hollywood casting practice bec I have already written abt the numerous roles from primetime and film that have been whitewashed. It speaks of the larger problem that hollywood still thinks that whiteness is universal and that white actors and actresses can portray any role and people should accept them portraying any role. You wrote: “I’m sure what you’re doing is a great way to make it happen!” and then you stuck your tongue outta your very enlightened face. people have written and complained and it has stopped racist hollywood casting. An example would be the akira movie w/c halted production bec of complaints that r. patz and timberlake were up for the roles of Japanese chars.
pretend that a film was made abt openly gay actor matt bomer and the film portrayed him as straight. the entertainment press and glaad and hollywood would scream homophobia bec the film didn’t accurately portray and ignored his orientation. making a gay char straight wouldn’t be acceptable for hollywood. but hollywood has made it acceptable to whitewash Asian american historical roles and chars based on Asian americans and fictional Asian american chars. hollywood loves to lecture people on tolerance towards the lgbt community and yet hollywood keeps bashing Asian americans thru lack of representation and whitewashing. Giggles!

In the soap world bringing in a few new characters can help move the plot along but too many newbies that push out long time favorites can infuriate the fans and theyll stop watching. During AMCs finale year i barely recognized the show and didnt care when it was canceled. I can accept newbies on the reboot as long as most are connected somehow to the vets and shows history. More vets like Brooke should be there to please old fans while some newbies could be used to attract new ones. If too many newcomers replace old favorites it may as be well be called All My Different Children. But im willing to give it a chance because its better than another stupid talk show.

I do appreciate that the AMC fans love their show, but it just seems to me that the OLTL fans fought harder for their show. Maybe this is why OLTL has had better luck in getting the “original” cast back…?

That is truly crap. I have been to more than one rally in support of this and we all worked hard. (and are still fighting – we are not done) We don’t need any more divisiveness…

I offer you my apologies. Perhaps the relocation and then, the cancelation cause the AMC actors to be more “scattered” than the OLTL actors… I don’t know.

I offer you my apologies. Do you think that after AMC moved to LA, and that the reboots are in the East, is the reason why OLTL has had “more luck” in securing the “original cast”

I have read that AMC was the “premiere” of the two for Prospect Park. I am only looking for a reasonable explanation as to why the AMC cast hasn’t come together like the OLTL cast.

Please don’t misinterpret my comment, I do enjoy both shows.

We already know of some actors who played David, Angie and Jesse are reprising their old roles, so why would Prospect Park need to be secretive about others even if the r recasts or not? Also is Prospect Park only reviving two soaps or do they have other types of series planned for their online network?

That has always been a standard practice in the daytime drama world. And only PP can answer your last question.

I kinda like the secretive casting. i like the suspense not knowing, and its good plublicty to get people talking.

And I LOVE that we can even HAVE these discussions! 🙂

I love my AMC. Because the actors were so good on AMC, many have gotten other jobs that they need to complete before coming back to AMC. While we wait for their return, why not enjoy some new characters. Actors are always coming and going on our soaps. We are use to people dying and then showing up alive. AMC has David, Zach, Angie, Jesse,Opal. These are great characters. Ryan and Kendall said that they would probably come back after completing their projects. We might even get Erica back. I liked Erica but she was not the only one that I liked. I will say that if they do make this a teenage soap, I will not watch. I really don’t think that is what is happening. I think we should not get upset over things that have not happened yet. Thank you, thank you for bring back my AMC! I will have my IPad charged up and ready !

I am so happy a lot of the orginial crew is coming back on OLTL reboot! Can’t wait to see
my favorite soap of all time. More of Viki, Bo, Nora,Clint , etc. HURRAY! Llanview Forever! And Landfair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could the contract charaters be Colby? Wasn’t she in her early twenties?

And the other two roles are recurring, to play against the AJ/Miranda recasts. Nothing to fret about.

Here’s the problem with AMC vs. OLTL, all the OLTL actors live in New York so it’s very easy for them to get to CT. AMC relocated to LA and most of the actors are quite happy out there and involved with other projects. Cameron Mathison is working everywhere, Rebecca Budig only came back to AMC because they were moving to LA. Bobbie Eakes is involved in tons of web series out there, and Michael E. Knight is doing projects with his ex-wife Catherine Hickland. Ricky Paull Goldin has a series on HGTV. The actors I want to see are Opal (done), Angie (done), David Hayward (done). Hopefully they can lure David Canary out of retirement and bring back Brooke. They are also looking for Angie’s stepdaughter Cassandra for the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if the younger actors are JR, Colby, Jamie Martin, Pete Cortlandt, and Bianca. Also John James lives on the East Coast so perhaps they can bring Jeff back.

It is interesting and fun to try and deduce which characters these might be. My favorite part….the fact that we are even having this discussion!!! YAY! 🙂 Looking forward to visiting Pine Valley and Llanview (NOT Landview- no D) again.

I love AMC and want them to always show and share multi-generational families. I feel lucky to have this show coming back to us. Having said that I surely don’t want them to model at all The Bold and the Beautiful. What a horrific show that they for half of the time feature a triangle of 20 somethings. After all the begging and pleading to Mr Bell to stop this he still continues on with it?????? Variety is the spice of life, literally.

Frankly, I don’t care if Cameron Mathison isn’t returning (at this time) as Ryan. There was too much storyline between him and Greenlee and Kendall for like the last three years, yeesch. I don’t want the show to become “All My Teens” and I don’t think the producers will allow it to steer too much in that direction, then again who can say. At any rate, right now it seems they don’t have an Erica Kane, or a Kendall, or a Bianca, or a Tad – I mean, I don’t want to come across as negative but if they are going to recast, they had better get on the stick.

If these are aged versions of some of the kids then the most obvious choices would be JR’s Son & Tad’s Daughters Kate & Jenny. But they could also be Colby & Petey recasts.

Is this going to be DeGrassi: The Next Generation?

I actually like DeGrassi, but if I want DeGrassi, I’ll watch DeGrassi.

I think Hunter will be Hayley and Mateo’s son, Lorenzo or Pete Cortlandt………Grace will be Colby and Heather will be Jenny, Tad and Krystal’s daughter……:)

There are enough older core actors/characters returning. David Hayward is a superb villain and could be around for a long time while Adam Chandlier is of an age like Palmer Cortlandt was where the actor really can’t handle a big storyline. Apparently 5 years have passed. If we had been watching all along for those 5 years many characters/actors would have come and gone due to personal decisions and contract negotiations or story necessity. It will be a little shocking to have it happen all at once but that is to be expected in this situation. I have enough patience to develop an interest in the characters and story lines. AMC for years failed to have interesting teen story lines thus a younger new audience was never corralled therefore dooming the soap to cancellation as older viewers died off or lost interest. The fact that they will have some younger characters is encouraging because younger people will likely watch on the computer and we all need more viewership to sustain this reboot. I don’t think these proposed new younger characters are fake names to surprise us when they are revealed to be younger characters all grown up because prospect park would want us to know as many of the returning characters as possible to increase our faith and interest.

Grace,Hunter and Heather are most likely to be a younger cast.Which will turn the soap into a teenagers soap. Therfore all of us dedicated soap fans who have been watching for years since the begining will loose intrest because our beloved favorites will no longer be on the show. They can;t afford to keep the experience soap stars.I am hopeing that it won’t turn out that way.We are all looking forward to AMC to return. Hope its not ruined for us again for the sake of saving money with a younger, inexperience cast members. Some new and younger cast members yes are welcome but lets not overdue it by making the soap for teens only we have waited for to long for amc return.

Anyone agree or disagree with me? Please leave a comment.

I want it the way it was not a bunch of new people because it will be like a new soap not our old one, I really miss all the people, please don’t put all young people either there is enough of those, I want my old soaps back

New shows are on tv all of the time. Watch the pilot episode, maybe the first week. If you don’t like, stop watching. That is what I will be doing with the AMC reboot. It sounds like it might be totally different than the cliff-hanger ending from over a year ago. No one will know until it airs. We fought to get our soap back, let’s give the show a chance.

All My Children

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
