Catherine Bach casts as Chelsea's mom on The Young and the Restless!

The Young and the Restless has again come up with a blast from the past, or stunt castin,g or just good ole fun, pick which ever fits the bill for you!  But today Soap Opera Digest broke the news that Daisy Duke herself, Catherine Bach, has been cast as none other than Melissa Claire Egan’s on-screen mom!  So look for Chelsea (Egan) to meet up with Anita (Bach) sometimes after Catherine makes her daytime soap debut on the February 7th episode of Y&R!

Back in the day, 1979-1985 to be exact, Bach was the pin-up gal for many a hot blooded American male co-starring in The Dukes of Hazzard opposite John Schneider and Tom Wopat!

Let’s just hope we won’t be seeing a lot of the citizens of Genoa City running around in their Daisy Dukes with the arrival of Bach!

Have any of you seen this woman lately? I have had it with MAB I just finished watching this weeks Y&R episodes. It is horrible I will wait until I see the convuleted mess she makes on who is Dianne’s killer and then I pull the plug. We have beloved vets who have not had a storyline in years and she has brought on three more new characters no one gives a S….! about. Y&R #1 my dog could write better then this!

I”m SUPER excited to see Catherine Bach visit GC! New characters are always welcome, but the show has always been about the core characters, and always will be. I wish all of those panicking about storyline being misdirected would just cool their jets. The writers are well aware of the existing talent (and show history) and will always take it into account. Chill out, people. Y&R is the most watched, most beloved show in all of daytime, here and around the world. It ain’t going anywhere anytime soon…. jump ship if you want, but you’ll be the one missing out.… Read more »

R U High?!?

The slop trough of slurry you are seeing on your screen is NOT the “Y & R” I have been watching since the Summer of 1981!! What you are seeing are plot-driven farcical nonsense story lines with no resolutions! Seasoned vets are being admonished to the background so Maria Arena Bell and her co-hacks can create new characters that NOBODY likes AT ALL!! So many golden opportunities have been wasted at the hands of this “in-name-only” Bell family member!!

Well, if you bothered to watch today’s show, and read online articles, you’d see that Deacon (who was once of the NEW people everyone is complaining about) is now, predictably, on his way out… just like so many others before him. You’ve been watching this show long enough to know this kind of thing happens, and very often. Yes, it’s a shame there isn’t time in 48 minutes to show all of the characters… especially the legacy characters we all love, but they have to gravitate storylines through all of them. Now it’s Melody’s turn to shine…. last year it… Read more »

Ok if that is true when was the last time Doug Davidson had a storyline who has been with the show as long as Jeanne Cooper? I don’t know if I wanted AMC I would have watched it. Jess Walton two time emmy winner no storyline ! Christian Le Blanc three time emmy winner no storyline so I guess I will miss out but I don’t care to watch a sinking ship.

I want to add I am not trying to be nasty I have watched this show since high school on and off. The one question I have is this when was the last time you felt real emotion about any of the storylines. The last time for me was Cassie’s death. It breaks my heart when I know what this show use to be for me you have to grow to care about a character you either love them or you hate them but you have to have some emotion. But it is only my opinion.

Face it people. We cannot afford to be negative about our soaps & cannot lose anymore of them. But I agree that Y&R needs some fresh writers/stories. Newbies are needed once in a while but beloved vets have got to be front & center in stories that make sense! I am just gritting my teeth every day waiting for Y&R to move on from a Newman in jail-just pick one! Any given day one of them is sitting in jail! It is ridiculous. And the Diane/Patti mess. Seriously? Wrap it up already! I am loving (to my surprise) Jack &… Read more »

I’m tired of all these actors joining the soap when there are great actors already on the show who either have no story or garbage story. Billy and a baby story feels like been there done that. I love Villy and want them to have some happiness and not be dragged down by garbage. I certainly hope Billy did not have sex with Chels and is not the baby. Trying to stay with the show, but the numerous boring storylines make it hard. Harmony has not added anything to the show and I think adding her was a mistake. Tired… Read more »

Oops, forgot a word. Not the baby’s father I meant to say. There are too many stories going on in the show. We haven’t seen anymore of Jeffrey. Kevin going along with Angelina and not bothering to check with anyone is ridick. Why didn’t he call Michael at the very least? Sharon marrying Victor? I know he’s got a grander plan going on, but I’m so over the jail scenes. Been there done that thousands of time. The jail scenes are so far fetched it’s laughable. A visitor would not be able to take a cellphone in with them. There… Read more »

I wonder how many actresses turned down this role and I wonder how many people were on vacation when the episodes we are watching now were filmed.

Also, it seems that Victor has nothing to do with Chelsea’s arrival in GC. If that is so, I wonder how long it will be before he becomes involved, if at all. It would be great if he could spare Victoria and Billy more pain. I don’t buy the notion that happy couples on soaps have to be boring.

Well, just thinking Victor HAS to have something to do with Chelsea, otherwise how did she find Billy when she went directly to his house looking for LIAM… How can she out of the blue find the RIGHT house and the RIGHT person, but WRONG name???

Stranger things have happened. Perhaps the details will be revealed in time. I would like to know when and with whom Victor became involved in the Abbott baby aspect of the Myanmar story. I listened carefully to Chelsea’s phone calls and I never got the impression that she was talking to Victor, but rather to her mom.

‘Days of our Lives’ to Honor James Reynolds’ 40th Anniversary as Abe Carver with Special Episode

As DAYS viewers witnessed on Friday’s episode, Abe has been shot in the park, after Carmine pulls out a gun, and Jake (Brandon Barash) tries to apprehend him.  Jake rushes to Abe’s side and calls an ambulance and he is rushed to University Hospital.  Once there, Abe eventually flatlines, while Lani (Sal Stowers), Paulina (Jackee Harry) and Eli (Lamon Archey) are besides themselves with worry.

This sets the stage for Monday’s episode where Abe will go into the light, as Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) works to save his light and while he hovers between life and death, DAYS fans are treated to the special 40th anniversary episode of James Reynolds as Salem’s Abe Carver.   The Daytime Emmy-winning actor, (he won Lead Actor in 2018) began his Salem journey when he first aired back on October 29th, 1981.

While Abe revisits the past, he will meet up with his late wife and love of his life, Lexie, only according to Soap Opera Digest, Renee Jones was not available to be a part of the milestone episode. So, in a pivot another actress was brought in.

Reynolds told SOD on the Lexie appearance, “The young actress they brought in to be part of this was just wonderful“n giving the essence of (their) relationship and communicated beautifully, just beautifully, in her face and her eyes, as Renee did quite so often.”  He added, “I was kind of transported, actually.”

In addition, James continues to be the the longest-running black actor in the same role in television history.

Stars React to Alec Baldwin Fatally Shooting Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins & Injuring Director, Joel Souza, In Prop Gun Mishap On Set of ‘Rust’

UPDATED: Over the last 24 hours, the entertainment world has been stunned, by the horrific incident that took place on the set of the western drama Rust, while it was shooting scenes in New Mexico.

What is known is that Alec Baldwin (Ex-The Doctors, Knots Landing) discharged a prop gun that killed Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins and injured director, Joel Souza.  The film also stars Frances Fisher (Ex-Edge of Night) and Jensen Ackles (Ex-Days of our Lives). Baldwin is also a producer on the film.

According to Variety, the prop gun contained a “live single round,” according to an email sent by IATSE Local 44 to its membership.

On Friday, Alec Baldwin made a statement via Twitter on his Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation Twitter feed, expressing: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Yesterday, The Sante Fe Sheriff’s Departments originally shared that “Hutchins, 42, and Souza, 48 were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin.  Ms. Hutchins was transported, via helicopter, to University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Mr. Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical center where he was undergoing treatment for his injuries. This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”

This morning, Frances Fisher revealed in a twitter conversation with Patricia Arquette, that director Joel Souza had been released from the hospital.  Meanwhile, photographs of a distraught Baldwin emerged following the shooting.

The news of the Baldwin prop gun incident, isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Jon-Erik Hexum was killed on October 18, 1984, on the set of the TV show Cover Up when he accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun loaded with blanks. Then, in 1993, Brandon Lee, the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, died from a prop gun accident on the set of The Crow by a cast member.

As the news made its way through the entertainment community and mainstream news, several soap stars shared their reactions to the fatal shooting accident.

General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan) expressed: “Feeling so sad for everyone involved in the tragedy on the #RustMovie set. I do know the film was staffed with experienced, thoughtful professionals. Please, let’s wait until we have the facts. Nothing positive will come from passing judgement or casting aspersions before then.”

General Hospital and Dynasty’s Emma Samms (Holly, Fallon) shared on her friend Jon-Erik Hexum’s death: This AWFUL tragedy on #Rust is unfathomable to me. If all on-set protocols were being adhered to, how, on earth, could it have happened? After what happened to Brandon Lee and my dear friend Jon-Erik Hexam, the firearm protocols became incredibly strict. I was told (when I was with him at the hospital afterwards) that Jon-Erik had been working with a completely empty gun all morning. A blank (still very dangerous) was loaded and then immediately there was a delay. Exhausted, he was allowed to fall asleep – loaded gun in hand. hey woke him, but there was immediately another delay. Jon-Erik put the gun to his head, forgetting it now contained a blank, (because he had just woken up) and jokingly pulled the trigger. He was not the kind of person to play around with a loaded gun. #fortherecord”

We will continue to post reactions and update this story.

What are your thoughts on the fatal shooting on the set of Rust? Comment below.  How can this not happen again, so everyone is safe in this working environment when ‘dangerous’ props are called for or used to make a movie or a TV show?

This weekend, The Young and the Restless Courtney Hope (Sally), is set to walk down the aisle and marry the love of her life, General Hospital’s Chad Duell (Michael).  The nuptials are to take place this Saturday, October 23rd according to the wedding planner Zola.

Ahead of the popular soap duo’s vows, Courtney asked some of her Y&R co-stars advice, but as their characters in a very cute Instagram video on The Young and the Restless IG account with the accompanying text: “Marriage advice you don’t normally hear… as told by the #YR stars 😉 A special thank you to our real-life bride-to-be @TheCourtneyHope for asking! 😂”

Participating are: Peter Bergman (Jack), Amelia Heinle (Victoria), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Mishael Morgan (Amanda), Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Eileen Davidson (Ashley), Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), and Christel Khalil (Lily).

In terms of advice, Amelie Heinle told Hope, “As Victoria Newman, I would say that you need to marry a man that is not going to be around for very long, and especially if he has a lot of money.”

Christel Khalil offered up some Lily marital suggestions: “Don’t let your husband let you think that he’s dead and that you’ve slept with a ghost!”

As for Courtney and Chad, the couple had been dating for five years, and this past Valentine’s Day, they became engaged.

Please share your well-wishes to Courtney and Chad as they embark on their life together via the comment section below, and let us know what you think of the marital advice given to Hope from the citizens of Genoa City.

You can check out the video below, and then take a look back at our interview with the duo on the red carpet back at the 46th annual Daytime Emmys Awards.
