Catherine Bach Returning As Chelsea’s Mom Anita On Y&R
More returns slated for The Young and the Restless as they re-position the show. Now comes word that Catherine Bach is due back as Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) money-grubbing, grifter mother, Anita Lawson.
In story, viewers have met the character of Calvin Boudreau (John Burke) this week, and are being cued into the back-story that Chelsea’s mother was first into Chelsea’s current hubby, so it makes sense that Anita would be back on the canvas.
The former Daisy Duke of The Dukes of Hazzard came on to The Young and the Restless back in 2012.
According to TV Insider, Catherine will be back on-screen as Anita come the August 8th episode of the CBS daytime drama series.
So, what do you think the return of Anita means for Chelsea et al? Comment below.
That’s great. Clearly, Calvin is as sinister as they come. That was evident today when he met Nick.Calvin going up against Adam is going to be fierce!! Anita saw him first so you know he’s trash. I bet tomorrow Nick puts Rey on the hunt to find out all about Calvin but I think Kevin is the one who will help bring him down. Rey is pretty useless. Looking forward to the fireworks!
I was wondering yesterday if Anita would return. Glad to see she will!
There’s definitely something off about Chelsea and Calvin’s relationship, so maybe Anita’s return can fill in some blanks. It’s very odd seeing Chelsea interact with Calvin, who looks old enough to be her father. And let alone nuAdam! Mark Grossman looks like he could be John Burke’s grandson! Very jarring thinking that Chelsea was involved with both Adam and Nick, and is now married to someone twice their age.
Chelsea + Calvin = AWKWARD!
Anita comes back in August 8th episode!!
oolemoole..
I’ll forget it within this hour-
remind me with a Week Advance notice LOL
Looking forward to having her on screen, again.
Yay!!! i loved her when she would show up. i thought she did a good job playing Anita. Can’t wait to see her again.
Gosh, if they really want the old people back, I’d say bring back Gloria, and maybe she can help Michael with his hair problem. I have a hair stylist friend that also watches the show, who is appalled at the way he looks. She says it should be trimmed at the very least. Does poor C.L not have a mirror or a say so as to how he looks on National TV?
It’s a toupee.
Giovanna
Most of us know that, and the point is that it shouldn’t be that obvious. It should be styled accordingly.
His hair looks like Michael Myers!
Oh, great……
I can’t wait to hear that rich adenoidal twang she gives to every badly delivered line. Seriously, Show, you’ve got that much money to waste?
I think maybe three people wanted Chelsea back on the screen one of them was JM ! Lord what a train wreck MS is not a youngster anymore embarrassing to watch her play sexy and never hire a boy to do a mans job and I think MG I had possibilities but not as Adam
Hey boes, maybe she’ll wear her Daisy Dukes, than you can forget how bad she sounds, ha, ha!
I love Anita, give her a big storyline.
I want Mal Young back. Relying on returns from the dead and bringing back so many old characters signals a total lack of creativity of the new headwriter.
Yep! I knew this was coming. Its bad enough we have Chelsea to deal with but we have to deal with mommy to! Both can go back to Hazzard County!
So glad to see campy, trashy, boisturous Anita back on the canvas. I once heard she dropped out of acting completely at one point, to care for her special needs child? Someone fact check me. Casting directors should be commended for her giving her a second chance at her acting career.

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital
For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.
According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).
Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.
After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared, “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”
In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.
TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.
The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.
No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.
