CBS Announces ‘Beyond the Gates’ and ‘The Young and the Restless’ Crossover with 6 Genoa City Residents Heading to Fairmont Crest
- Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless will have a multi-episode crossover this June featuring six characters from Genoa City traveling to Fairmont Crest.
- Y&R stars, Eric Braeden, Peter Bergman, Michael Mealor, Susan Walters, Bryton James and Melissa Ordway will all appear.
- The storyline involves a fundraiser for Martin Richardson played by Beyond the Gates star Brandon Claybon which triggers dramatic consequences.
CBS unveiled a landmark daytime television event on Tuesday, revealing a sweeping multi-episode crossover between its powerhouse daytime Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless.
In the crossover event, six iconic residents from Y&R’s Genoa City will travel to BTG’s posh gated community, Fairmont Crest. The episodes will air on Beyond the Gates this coming June.
Look for in story, longtime close friends Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and the patriarch of the Newman family, the legendary Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), to reunite at a high-profile political fundraiser. Over the years, apparently Victor has backed Vernon’s political campaigns, while Vernon has championed legislation benefiting Newman Enterprises, which is definitely an alliance built on loyalty, influence and mutual gain.

Now, Vernon has asked Victor to serve as the keynote speaker for his grandson Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) political fundraiser. But that’s not all! Also in attendance will be Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) who has been a longtime friend of Martin, from when they first bonded in New York City after college. Martin extended the invitation to Kyle, who arrived alongside his parents, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).
Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) are also on the VIP guest list, with Devon fielding an unexpected business opportunity from BTG’s Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie). As the evening unfolds, a shocking event occurs, abruptly derailing the fundraiser and triggering dramatic consequences that will impact every guest in attendance!
This will mark Beyond the Gates third crossover since it made its network television debut back on February 24, 2025. Bryton James, was the first to appear from Y&R in scenes with Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie and Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree). Next, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Thorsten Kaye appeared as Ridge Forrester, when he interacted with Mosley and Sean Freeman (Andre).
Beyond the Gates is produced by CBS Studios, as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.
The daytime drama is broadcast on weekdays on CBS (2:00-3:00 PM, ET/1:00-2:00 PM, PT) and is available to stream on Paramount+**.
So, what do you think about the upcoming crossover story event; which will be over multiple episodes which has Eric Braeden, Peter Bergman, Susan Walters, Melissa Ordway, Bryton James and Michael Mealor appearing on Beyond the Gates? Intrigued by the storyline and the dramatic turn of events that will transpire at the major fundraiser for BTG’s Martin Richardson? Let us know via the comment section.
Not interested in these crossovers. BTG is strong on its own. I especially don’t the kind and sweet Vernon Dupree anywhere near Victor Newman. Thankfully Nikki Newman stays in Wisconsin.
Hopefully the BTG writers will be responsible for the storylines and dialogue and not the Y&R writers.
“Hopefully the BTG writers will be responsible for the storylines and dialogue and not the Y&R writers.”
From your lips to the universe’s ear.
Considering this will air on Beyond the Gates, it will be their writers, like it has been with crossovers that occurred last year.
WOW! This is so exciting! I love crossovers! Vernon and Victor being allies is no surprise, and I love that Kyle Abbott and Martin now have a backstory! Now Devon is headed back with Abby in tow! I wonder if the dramatic event will be a shooting? Now that BTG is about to hit the year mark, its time for some kind of dramatic event like a whodunit! I will definitely be tuning in!
watch both shows but for some reason just not into this . one of the biggest problems is devon and abby they are a snore fest and i honestly can’t stand the character of Devon
I’ve never cared for the Devon character.
The only Abby that has interested me was Emme Rylan’s take on her, especially her and Marco Dapper’s Carmine. What a hunk!
you are absolutely right about Emme Rylan she was the best abby and the show could definitely use a return of Carmine
Yes, I would love it if Emme Rylan was willing to come back to the show, but I think she’s content with where she’s at in life.
I hope this has nothing to do with race because he is an outstanding actor. IJS
I am thoroughly chuffed over this. This is going to be a not-to-miss event. I cannot wait for these characters to [finally] get some good, quality writing for the first time in six-plus years! I only wish Maura West were still Diane; I’d love to see her on Beyond the Gates.
If the show was doing so great, it wouldn’t need to do so many of these crossovers to try to bring in more viewers.
This has been done with many of the CBS shows in the past, along with ABC and NBC. All the shows at the time, All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Another World were doing quite well in the ratings when the crossovers were done.
Sure, but not that early in their existence.
Incorrect, GH’s Steve Hardy (the OG OG Steve!) crossed over to OLTL in its first year on the air – 1968.
Back then, this required more coordination as both shows were shot in sequence and aired either live (or live to tape within 2 weeks). ABC flew John Beradino to NYC (GH was done in LA) to appear in scenes at Llanview Hospital.
Y&R and B&B occasionally do crossovers. OLTL and AMC did them back in the day. Hoping for a ratings boost, sure, but not a desperate measure.
I would think these people from Y&R would bring down BTG viewers, not thrill them. Just pray that Griffith has no hand in any of the writing, otherwise it will be a wasted effort.
Should be very interesting crossover!
I assume the Y&R cast is heading to Atlanta.
Welcome to the South!
Maybe Sheila can cross over to BTG and go toe-to-toe with Lesley once her marriage to Deacon implodes…think of the scheming they could do together… I’d love it anyway!
Crossovers only work if you watch both shows, otherwise it’s irritating and a waste of screen time. I would prefer the GC residents to stay in GC and get on with things there. So I’ll miss out on this.
Love the crossover within the Y&R and BTG cast.
When I found out about this crossover & that it would involve #YR, I’m hoping that JG had no hand in writing this crossover. If he did, I’m going to notice the difference between his writing and Val Jeans. I can really tell the difference in the writing between both shows.
Why would he have a say in the writing? He is not a writer on Beyond the Gates.
Love the crossover theme. Can’t wait.
I love BTG . Should be interesting….I will watch
I can’t wait it sounds so exciting

Daytime Drama Casting Directors Talk Four of the Most Challenging and Important Recasts of Their Careers
Daytime soap opera casting directors: Greg Salmon (The Young and the Restless) Marnie Saitta (Days of Our Lives), Christy Dooley (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Kim Coleman (Beyond the Gates) discussed the process of casting for a daytime drama series from contract players to under-fives along and their expectations for auditioning, plus behind the scenes casting tales at their recent panel from the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
The entertainment industry event helps actors receive inside intel from leading casting professionals and took place just over a week ago at the Meryl Streep Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles.
Moderated by noted journalist Jim Halterman, one of the more intriguing moments of the panel discussion occurred when the subject turned to the challenges of a recast on a soap opera and replacing a popular actor with another in a very key role. Each of the four casting directors were able to put a spotlight on such an occurrence and all were leading men on their respective soaps.

Photo: SAGAFRAFoundation
For Marnie Saitta at Days of Our Lives, she was tasked with finding the new EJ DiMera. James Scott had become amazingly popular in the role from 2006-2014. Then, enter Dan Feuerriegel, who had the right stuff for DAYS to finally pull the trigger and cast the new EJ. The character returned on-screen in 2021 after 7 years.
RECASTING EJ DIMERA
“I do know now how to best approach a recast, like I’m casting a new character,” explains Marnie. “I feel like the actor just has to come in and make it their own. You can’t even try, looks-wise, to be quite honest. Obviously, EJ DiMera is kind of a focal point (of DAYS) and Dan was such a champ. I swear to God, I think I brought him in maybe six times. I would bring him in for other characters, but I kept thinking he’s really good for EJ and it didn’t go. Then, I brought him for something else, same thing. I knew that the role of EJ was going to be really difficult to find, and it finally clicked. He took EJ in a different direction. He has a totally different vibe, but equally as effective.”
RECASTING ADAM NEWMAN
For Greg Salmon, he discussed the pivotal role of Y&R’s Adam Newman, who was previously by Tracker star, Justin Hartley and what he looked for to be able to find the right actor to be the next black sheep of the Newman clan.
“We had Justin Hartley playing the role of Adam Newman before he went to This Is Us, and now Mark Grossman has been playing him,” explained Salmon. “So that was a really tough role to recast. Before Justin, there were two other people (Chris Engen and Michael Muhney) who played the part. Adam Newman is central to the show. This is Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) son. So, it’s an incredibly important character to the show. But now, Mark Grossman’s been playing the role for several years now. He’s completely made the role his own.”

Photo: JPI
Salmon added the key attributes that Mark Grossman or someone like him brings into an audition for the role of that is being recast, “I really think it just comes down to the person’s energy and what they’re bringing to the character,” explained Greg. “You can’t think, ‘Well, I know Justin Hartley looks like this. And the guy before him looked like that,’ because then you’ll just get trapped. You’re not trying to find another Justin Harley. You’re trying to find another Adam Newman. I just remember Mark came in and I think he read with Eric Braeden, and he read with a few other people of the Newman family, and his energy was just off the charts. You know, this is how Adam should feel. Eventually, I think the audience really accepted him.”
RECASTING RIDGE FORRESTER
In a little-known casting story, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Christy Dooley shared how Mark Grossman almost became one of the Forresters! “He tested for us (at The Bold and the Beautiful). Mark came in and read for the role of Thomas Forrester and he was my choice for the role,” says Dooley. “The role wound up going to Matthew Atkinson, but then he came down to read for The Young and the Restless.”
Dooley was also tasked with one of the biggest soap recasts in history when Ronn Moss exited The Bold and the Beautiful in his signature role of Ridge Forrester which Moss played from 1987-2012. Eventually, Thorsten Kaye took over the role at the end of 2013.

Photo: JPI
“When Ronn Moss left the show, Brad Bell (executive producer and head writer, B&B) said, ‘I can’t recast him right now, he’s just too familiar.’ So he waited. The character was always talked about because he is one of the Forresters. Brad finally said, ‘We need to bring him back. We got to find somebody.’ Then to get Thorsten Kaye, who’s so different than Ronn, and he made it completely his own. He’s just amazing at it, so I think time helped (between bringing on a new Ridge.)”
RECASTING DR. TED RICHARDSON
For Beyond the Gates, Kim Coleman, she has a soap opera that is now building a new legacy only in its second season. However, in season one, Maurice Johnson became the first recast in series history when he was replaced as Dr. Ted Richardson with Keith D. Robinson and at a critical point in the storyline.
Coleman explained, “I think it was a transition and everyone was in agreement that it was the right thing to do. And then fortunately, we brought in an actor that the audience knew. They knew his face. He was great. Keith made it his own and there was not a lot of controversy and it wasn’t complicated. Keith D. Robinson is on the show now and everyone loves him. So, it was a very smooth transition.”
You can check out the full conversation with daytime casting directors, Greg Salmon, Marnie Saitta, Christy Dooley and Kim Coleman below.
Now let us know which of the four recasts noted do you think was the most successful? Were you surprised to learn Mark Grossman was a favorite of casting director Christy Dooley for Thomas Forrester before landing his role as Adan Newman? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

VERNON AND VICTOR OLD FRIENDS

UNEXPECTED ALLIANCES
In the steamy moment from the promo, it looks like Kyle and Hayley (Marguita Goings) end up making out. Could this be the crossover romance we never know we needed? But what happens if the wrong person sees them locking lips? Then, it appears that Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Dani will be trapped together due to the tornado, will this be a turning point for the exes? The event is filled with a room full of reporters, who are itching for a scandal. What will they dig up before and after the rubble from the tornado?
DANGER LURKS AT FAIRMONT CREST
In addition, an uninvited guest makes their way into the fundraiser, but it’s not someone viewers might expect! Genoa City’s Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Abby Newmanv (Melissa Ordway) are also attending the political fundraiser and get into the thick of the action.
Beyond the Gates executive producer Sheila Ducksworth teased to TV Insider, on what viewers are about to see “What happens in these episodes is so compelling, and then what happens as a result of what happens in these episodes is epic. That is all I can say. It is epic.”
Ducksworth, along with series cast members: Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Clifton Davis, and Sean Freeman, also talked about the upcoming episodes when they visited the Michael Fairman Channel for a livestream chat, where Clifton Davis exclaimed, “We’ve got dynamite in the can,” referencing the banked episodes that soap fans are about to see unfold.
