I was surprised at how thorough it was. Definitely worthwhile for fans of the show… I wonder how they will use the information. As I recall, focus-group information led Jill Farren Phelps to kill off Maureen Bauer on “Guiding Light” all those years ago. I hope I just didn’t sign someone’s death warrant…

Ditto…..took survey also, just hope that the higher ups…..read the findings…..
Best question answer…only tune in now out of loyalty.

most likely but you know what sonniorsolita..they aren’t dumb by any means. They tried to tank the show and instead gained viewers and now want to know why. My advice is either continue with the show or let it go. Get behind your #1 show CBS or just cancel it..stop with the silly surveys to set up your next disaster week…FOR REAL!!!

They gained viewers because All My Children was cancelled. DUH

I loved taking the survey and expressing my thoughts, feelings,
and opinions on so many aspects of the soap. I wonder how they
will use everyone’s opinions!

CBS.. but why?

Nanci

Yeah, that is the big question for sure.
Why the survey and why now?
Does someone at the top wonder how
fans feel since Pratt came?
But glad they offered the survey, whatever the reason.
I put my 2 cents in about Summer and Sharon
and Kyle, ugh. And that I like Avery, etc.
Hoping somehow JC comes back.

I felt like I have been heard for the first time in a long time where Y&R is concerned. I hope this spells the end of JFP and Chuck Pratt Jr. We can wish!

All you can do is wish. Unless they leave voluntarily, the only thing that will spell the end of JFP and Mr. Pratt would be a complete viewer revolt and ratings collapse. And it looks like neither is happening anytime soon.

It is only worthwhile if they truly read and comprehend what we are saying.

Its telling that this survey is even out there. There is concern of it wouldn’t be available.

I did it and I recommend it. It may or may not help but it feels as if you are voicing your opinion on a show you love and someone may just make the changes that all of us have been asking for! It is a very good survey. Well written.

I don’t know when this survey was written but I found it hilarious that some of the characters they asked about haven’t been on the show in so long I had almost forgotten they existed, like Jill and Colin. They asked about Gloria– can anyone remember when we last saw Gloria? The only character they didn’t mentioned was Esther — poor Esther, even the powers that be have forgotten you exist-LOL.

I remember when there was a contest to give Esther a last name. It’s Valentine, right? Now they fail to remember her first name! lol

Interesting survey that, unfortunately, does not allow for one taking it to embellish on reasons why selections were made. I would have liked choices for each of my responses. I know that is time-consuming BUT that would be far more valuable data. As someone else mentioned, WHAT is the purpose of the survey and the results it yields? Perhaps presenting that information upfront would help with more genuine responses. I was glad I was able to at least respond in my own words about Y and R: and there I chimed in as I always have– this Y and R… Read more »

I have been a loyal viewer of the Y&R for more than 30 yrs. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my deep disappointment in the producers who fired Michael Muhney to benefit other members of the cast. Michael Muhney < I must say is a very talented and very charismatic actor and a lot of us believe a true gentleman. Despite all this he was unfairly dismissed and a great number of fans supported him and wanted him back. The fans were not heard and their voices were not even considered. Instead , they chose not to… Read more »

First, loved the survey! It was fun to take. Second, WHY NOW? In the money-hungry, ratings obsessed Network world, Y&R is killing it in the ratings right now. Ratings = Money. I think the negativity will only grow on Social Media, but stats show people ARE happy with and watching the show, in growing numbers. People love to hate Pratt and JFP, but at least ratings-wise, they are working. You can never convince me the Network caress about the viewers opinions. OK–let’s say the fire Pratt, drop unpopular characters or stories, the fans are THRILLED and scream that “Y&R is… Read more »

CBS- I have such a great idea for you! Why don’t you market- tie in with companies on some of the beautiful clothes and jewelry your actresses where? What a great way to please your viewers and make money for the show!

It does seem the ratings are very good for the Young and the Restless even though so many are dismayed with the recent outrageous storylines. I wonder if ratings take into account how much of the show is fast forwarded. So much of the writing has been atrocious and difficult to watch if watched. Potential meaningful storylines were passed by; Michael and cancer, Kelly and perhaps family abuse. I record and watch before retiring. Then the uncomfortable or silly plots can be skipped which, indeed, I do. All this being said there is always the hope that one will find… Read more »

I really have to believe that the viewers who “love” the show as it stands are fairly new viewers to Y&R, perhaps viewers looking for a new soap who used to watch AMC, ATWT, GL and OLTL. I say this because most of the viewers who state they have watched Y&R for a long time on social media and on soap sites by and large find the writing atrocious. Newbies with no substance are rammed down our throats (looking at you Sage), popular vets like Sharon continue to be butchered, the lead story for the past year featured a bunch… Read more »

You think that the writers of the young and the restless would come up with some new and original story lines. Victor always wins and comes out ahead of everyone. This is old and boring. Change it up already. The show is tacky redundant and tasteless.

What is the answers to the result? How come we don’t see it any where? Guess a lot of fans shared the same opinions who they hated and loved on YR. Sage is a waste of time, she’s a FOJ. Again Sharon is victimized and used to prop up lackluster characters like Sage and Dylan. Nick dumb down like he believed Sage his true love the man married her only because she was pregnant. Victor always win and get away with every dirt he played on Jack and the Abbotts. Dylan is a fake cop or investigator and a dummy… Read more »

Shemar Moore Makes a Return to The Young and the Restless

In a big return as part of Y&R’s golden anniversary celebration, look for Shemar Moore (Malcom Winters) to reprise his Daytime Emmy-winning role.

According to Deadline, the current star of CBS’ S.W.A.T. will be seen in the upcoming May 8th episode of the CBS daytime drama series.

In story, Malcolm returns to Genoa City to connect with his daughter Lily (Christel Khalil) and nephews: Devon (Bryton James) and Nate(Sean Dominic).

Viewers last saw Moore in to his old stomping grounds, when he appeared back in 2019 during Y&R’s tribute episodes to the late Kristoff St. John, who played Moore’s onscreen big brother, Neil Winters.

Since leaving Y&R, Shemar has starred on Criminal Minds, the aforementioned S.W.A.T. as well as numerous primetime and movie roles.

One thing that can be said about Moore – he always returned and remembered his daytime roots and start at Y&R.

So, excited to see Shemar back as Malcolm if even for a special guest appearance? Comment below.

GH’s Maurice Benard Gets Emotional During Surprise Family Reunion

Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital) was a guest today on the ABC syndicated-talker, Tamron Hall.  The three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star was on the show to promote GH’s 60th anniversary, which is on April 1st, while the series celebrates next week with the return of the Nurses’ Ball.

During his segment, Tamron surprised Maurice with an emotional reunion with his daughter Heather who has been in the U.S. Air Force on the east coast.  Benard had not seen her since October of last year.

Tamron’s set-up of the Benard surprise happened when she discussed his family and in particular, his daughter, Heather Andresen, who is his wife Paula Benard’s half-sister.  Hall said when her picture came on the screen, “This is her. You haven’t seen her in awhile.” But, Benard cut her off knowing exactly what was coming next and said, “Oh, don’t do that.”

Maurice legally adopted Heather when she was 15. So when Hall said, “You’re not the only one who made a special trip today. She wanted to be here … because I know it was rough getting on that plane and coming here,” Maurice was struggling to hold it together.

Tamron was referencing Maurice’s fear of flying, and in particular flying solo, which is what he had to do for this publicity tour in New York.  Next, Tamron brought out, “Airman First Class Heather Andresen.”

Benard and Heather embraced, as Maurice continued to get emotional and told Heather how proud of her he was.

You can watch the very touching moment below.

Then let us know, what did you think of Tamron’s surprise for Maurice? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Nneka Garland, General Hospital’s Beloved Producer, Passes Away at 49

As everyone in the General Hospital family, and those in the daytime community learned of and mourned the sudden loss of producer, Nneka Garland yesterday, more information has come to light on the cause of death.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved Garland died from a heart attack at her home in Sherman Oaks, California on Monday and passed away at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

In a message to his cast and crew on Tuesday, GH executive producer, Frank Valentini shared: “It is with a sadness (and utter disbelief) that I must share the passing of our beloved producer, Nneka Garland. Universally adored by everyone at GH, Nneka brought out the best in all of us. Her endless patience and incredible empathy made her the person we went to for advice, a hug or just to see her beautiful reassuring smile. In big and small ways, her kindness touched and enriched each of us. Nneka’s tireless efforts during Emmy season, the pandemic’s pressures and the day-to-day challenges of our shooting schedule never rattled or upset her.  She’d just shrug and say, ‘We’ll make it work, babe.’ And she did, always. Her absence will leave a hole in our lives — one that can only be filled by reflecting on all the wonderful memories that we’ve shared with her.”

Garland’s road to becoming a producer on GH began some 22 years ago, when she started on the ABC soap opera back in 2001 as an executive assistant after she followed then OLTL EP and former GH EP, Jill Farren Phelps to GH.  Eventually, she was named as coordinating producer in 2018, and finally as a producer in 2021.  Also that year. Nneka won a Daytime Emmy along with the rest of the producing team when GH won the award for the Outstanding Drama Series.  In fact, that year also saw the GH head writers naming a character, a bartender at the Savoy, after Nneka and it was played by Arlondriah Lenyéa.

Interestingly, Nneka’s half-brother was the late rap artist, Tupac Shakur.

Nneka is survived by her father, William; her brothers Landon and Malik; and her sisters Tekerra and Leslie.

Share your condolences and remembrances for Nneka Garland in the comment section below, but first check out our latest interview with GH’s Josh Swickard (Chase) and Laura Wright (Carly), where we discuss GH’s 60th anniversary shows, plus their reactions to Nneka’s sudden passing.
