In a show of commitment, faith, and support for their top-rated soap opera, The Young and the Restless, CBS today officially renewed the daytime drama for another three years!

In other news, the network renewed the entire line-up featuring The Bold and the Beautiful, The Talk and Let’s Make a Deal through the 2017-2018 season. The Price is Right received a two-year pickup.

Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution said in a statement: “CBS Daytime has never been stronger. From 30 consecutive years of being #1 in the ratings, to another year as the most honored Network at the Daytime Emmys, our lineup of talk, game shows and dramas connects with our audience like no one else. All of our talent, on screen and behind the scenes, is hard at work making the upcoming season of these award-winning series even bigger and bolder.”

So, what do you think about Y&R’s three-year pick-up? Comment below.

Very happy for Y&R.

I failed to mentioned I am happy about B&B…Y&R and B&B are my 2 favorites. I no longer watch GH or DAYS but I might tune into Days once Eileen Davidson returns.

Glad to hear about the renewal.

Not feeling Jack vs Billy vs Phyllis vs Victoria

Hillary is racking up a list of enemies…..not good. I wonder if her luck is slowly running out. She seems to have issues with most of Genoa City and we haven’t had a murder on the show in a long time.

Not surprised..
Y&R will , without a doubt, be the last soap to go.

And when the other 3 soaps are canceled most of their viewers will migrate to Y&R because they need a soap and therefor Y&R will gain a million..
Y&R will remain as long as there is daytime TV, most likely.

People are sad its on another three years…kidding.-lol..at least we know the show will be around until 2020…then it will get cancelled and some will blame Trump who gets reelected for a second term-lol

I don’t think Trump is even going to last the first four years so no worries!

Oh, Joy, from your words to the impeachment committee’s ears, let’s hope.

Yeah…but then we’re stuck with Pence…or Ryan. It’s a lose, lose, lose.

True that Rebecca, however, at least those two individuals are relatively sane and won’t be blowing all these bells and whistles to distract us from the important issues of the day like health care, climate change and education.
At least with them we can confront those issues head on and fight for our rights and for our planet without swatting away all this insanity.
It’s kind of sad how we have lowered the bar. I am so tired of saying, “Well at least he/she is better than Trump.”
But hip, hip, hooray for Y&R!! Now this three more years I can take!

Hi Rhonda…I hear what you’re saying but I detest Pence, Ryan…the whole lot of them. Healthcare? There’s not one of them that cares if they put millions of lives in jeopardy; however…they MIGHT make a few concessions if it effects their constituents and thus effects their own votes when they’re running again. Climate change? Education? It’s not Trump making these decisions alone…between Bannon whispering in his ear..ugh…just can’t stand any of them. Back to healthcare. It’s too sick, pun not intended but so appropo…Trump is a billionaire so none of what he does or doesn’t do with healthcare will ever effect him or any of his family; they’re safe. Same with the idiots voting on the bill…they’ve made special safety nets for themselves and their families so that they, too, won’t be effected by the “meanness” of their plan. You would think after the close call they had with the shooting….with Scalese almost losing his life only to be saved by HEALTHCARE that they want to strip for millions…that they might have had a change of heart. Where would the “everyday man” be if he/she had the same type or catastrophic event as Scalese…he (she) probably wouldn’t have made it. Physical rehab after illness? Ha! Without insurance not doable. People on dialysis, people with cancer, the list goes on and on. There’d be no way to afford the premiums or pay for all the tests, treatments, etc out of pocket.

I read this amazing post by a vet who was commenting on one of the news sites about “Trump Care.”:

“I’m a Veteran covered under Veteran’s health care, so this doesn’t really affect me…..at least not yet, who knows if the GOP is done making cuts. But I am concerned for other family, friends, and fellow Americans health care future. ACA has some issues, but replacing it with a plan, Trumpcare, a brutal plan for many, solves nothing. Instead of improving Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) they want to just get rid of it.

It’s one thing to make tough cuts in an effort to improve the country’s future, but to hit the middle class and limited income with huge setbacks while simultaneously giving the wealthy elite massive tax relief, is criminal.

The excuse, “get a job!” doesn’t fly. Millions have full time jobs but can’t afford health care. When health care eats up 60-70% of your income, it’s financially impossible to sign up. Americans 50-63 have full time jobs, including Trump supporters, will suffer the most with premiums sky rocketing.

Masking this tax cut plan as a health plan, truly showcases the ugly side of the GOP.”

I think he (or she) summed it up.

As for Pence, his evangelical outlook is not mine. LOL…He seems like a “I’m religious when it suits me kinda guy.” He has strict morals…(ahem) except when he’s brimming with glee stripping millions of people of healthcare who could possibly die without treatment, tests, etc. He support his President who’s cheated on his wives, had two divorces, disrespects women, cheats his contractors, doesn’t pay taxes and lies. BUT! he’s religous and it’s his right to inflict his religious values on the public whether they share his beliefs or not. Less government in our lives? EXCEPT when it comes to their rules about abortion, gay rights, Planned Parenthood, schools, blah, blah, blah.

Can’t stand any of them so to me it’s a wash…

But I’ll give you a “hip, hip hooray” for our soaps! 😉

This is great news. Looking forward to more “B&B.”

Yay!! Confirmation that soaps are still alive and kicking 🙂

Bravo! I’m happy for all Y&R fans. We need ALL of our soaps to get multi-year picks. But as unlikely as that is these days, it’s an extraordinary feat.

I’m glad Y&R got the 3-year deal but i sure wish the old way of telling stories on Y&R would come back. That’s when the show really was thriving because no story got told before it’s time no matter how long we had to wait for the payoff. The writes made sure everything was perfect.

“The old way of telling stories” – please elaborate….

They used to take forever to get through a storyline but the payoff was always tremendous. None of the shows are like that much anymore. Alot of stories are sped up which can be ok but I still prefer the very slow buildup.

If you are referring to the classic story-telling by Bill Bell, yes – he wrote stories for the most part that took time in telling its tale before the big payoff. I think Sally Sussman is doing a great job in trying to replicate the late Mr. Bell’s way of storytelling, but this is not a different time and era – people don’t want to take the time to follow a good story – they want the Cliffs Notes version in this day and age.

Thank you for clarifying your comment =c)

Nice for Y&R fans but I would have liked B&B to be renewed for three more too. One…that sounds kinda iffy…

Rebecca, I agree. I would have thought B&B would be renewed for 3 more years like it’s sister soap, Y&R. I’m concerned too!

Exactly.

Rebecca…If I remember right it is reported that B&B is the number ranked soap internationally. If so seems good reason to renew it.

Hmmmmm…I looked it up after reading your comment and read that the ratings dipped really badly last year and hasn’t come back. There was talk of cancellation but thankfully they decided to renew it…at least for now. I then read, in the same article, that it’s ranked number one globally so if it was cancelled it would continue as a web series… Huh. Interesting….

YAY! Love Y&R!
That said, this damn sexual harassment suit lodged against Brass and Sassy is getting on my last nerve. Who thought this was a good idea?
It’s a boring, pointless story.
I do love what is going on with Nicki and Melody Thompson Scott is doing a bang up job (she also looks amazing, what has she done to herself besides losing some weight? )
I also like the Abbot family coming together again.

I’m with you, Joy. I was hoping Cane would get a break or that the sleeping with Juliet was “sexless”. Victoria is a terrible boss and Billy gets preferential treatment no matter how she denies it. Cane should cut his losses and tell Jill AND Victoria to shove their job! And I LOVE the Abbott family dynamics, especially when dear Traci is on. I even like the Jack & Gloria duo…in the boardroom, not the bedroom.

Victoria IS an awful boss. I can’t stand the character.

Soaphound…HELL TO THE YEAH…Victoria is a terrible boss…PERIOD!!!!! I CANNOT STAND Victoria…SHE WORKS MY DAMN NERVES TO NO END…B-L-E-C-H!!!!!

Later.

Melody is unbelievable—stellar actress, Joy. Agreed.
I may be in the minority here, but Cane deserves everything he’s getting. I’m not too enthused about the sexual harassment thingy, either, but, if it takes Cane down a notch or two…then, let’s roll.
I am not saying that Juliet is all that innocent or the damsel in distress, but, the way Cane handled ‘things’ and himself in the aftermath, repulses me. He should have been more forthcoming with his wife and Victoria. And, especially with Michael . Never lie to the man who is to defend you. Stuff will, indubitably, arise at the most inopportune time. Michael was blindsided.
Cane has been the weasel long enough. Something about this character’s persona was lost along the way. He is sneaky and he makes me uncomfortable. Bad vibe.
It started with his jealousy of Billy—way before Thompson. He feels entitled, ignoring the fact that Jill is not his mother but Billy’s.

Why is B&B not renewed for three years too?

B+B forever !!

Cheers, Y&R. So happy !!

So thrilled – LOVE my Y&R!

Here’s to you, Nanci, to me and to all the Y&R fans. LOL.
Oh, and, let’s not forget the cast, writers, producers etc.

Definitely, Celia! Let’s all celebrate…such great news, for sure.
Y and R will always hold me, I’m hooked!

Likewise, Nanci….have been hooked since I was a kid.
We have our cherished characters and memories of the best soap in the afternoon.
Now, all I ask for is for Juliet to be pregnant with Caine’s baby…..otherwise, her suit will trip and ‘fail’, LOL. I know it’s a worn-out soap ‘outcome’, but, I NEED vindication. LOL.
It may not have been sexual harassment, but, he still slept with her…inibriated or not—he knew, and kept it from his wife.
But, the reason I want him to pay is not just for cheating on his wife and LIE about it; but, for his nefarious action against Billy ( not my favorite character either….I’d feel the same way for anyone) in LA.
That was underhanded and decpicable; throwing Billy under the bus through manipulation. I wonder if Caine bribed that stage hand, or whatever his title was. However,
TPTB will probably expect us to forget about that; just as the GH writing team expect us to completely erase AJ’s murder (by Sonny’s hand) from our minds.
Phew…I feel better.
Now, we await the return of Adam—chaos!!!!! Anything to break Nick and Chelsea up!!

Oops…sentence structure….”all I ask is for Juliet”….

Cane has been just a big, swarmy slimeball – with Lily, Billy, Victoria, etc. Yuk.
And yep, I agree, Cee. The proof in the pudding type of thing…although not
crazy about the idea of an actual pudding baby, lol, but that way the truth
could be proven.

And no surprise that Jordan was right there to comfort Lily. He wasted no time!
Jeez, could he be any more obvious? He has been waiting to pounce, despite
his initial interest in Hilary. But I definitely don’t want Lily and Jordan together!

Can someone tell me why Cane is now always whispering?
Did he attend the same theater arts school of whispering that Gina Tognoni attended?

Or perhaps somewhere along the line, Cane encountered Sam from GH…this “whispering thing” must be caused by a contagion spread person to person around the “Soapland” sphere…apparently there is no known cure for this bewildering–and vexing–condition.

Hey, Nanci,
Juliet had the ‘vapors’…passed out right there at Lily’s ‘such a good girl’ feet, LOL.
Is she pregnant?
That’ll shut Lily’s sainted mouth, and then some, no?

Lol, Cee. And if she really is pregnant, no way can Lily handle it.

And what version of the truth was Juliet about
to spout right before she took a tumble, I wonder.

HaHa, Nanci,
Maybe she was going to fess up and tell the true version? No harassment? Even so, it does not erase the fact Cain had sex with her and doing his best hiding it.
Well, his best isn’t good enough. As flawed as Billy is, he sees right through him and what really went down.
Juliet may have a different malady, but a pregnancy would put a beautiful, juicy, red cherry on my cake.

I am behind in my viewing as usual. I would like to know what is going on about the whispering with Cain. Also, they both seemed to bear a little responsibility. However, as said I haven’t seen the last week. For me, I really didn’t think they had made “love.”

For me the twins all of a sudden being teens was a bit much, but the Winters family, however, needs some reconstitution.

What happened to Jill?

Congrats to the cast and crew of ‘YOUNG AND RESTLESS’

Three more years of Y&R, GREAT NEWS!

Three more minutes of Devon, Jordan, Kenny G, Philly or Tessa, UGGGGGGGGG!

In complete agreement with you regarding Devon and Tessa-add baby faced Noah to that list, Lily and her teenage twins, and we’ve got a farewell par-tay!

I forgot the Super Twins! GET EM OUT!

As usual, Timmm, you’re right on target. Jordan is a staggeringly gorgeous man, but dull as dishwater. And I hate this incarnation of Billy, especially when Billy Miller created such a well-rounded, sexy, funny, flawed, impossible and impossible to resist hero. Even Burgess Jenkins tried to keep Billy’s basic sweetness and humor. But now? Snark, sarcasm, and genuine looks of hatred for basically everyone he comes in contact with. Don’t know what Phyllis sees in him. At least Ravi isn’t front and center lately, though at least they’ve found a haircut that works for him. And Scott? Who knew lack of looks, charm, shampoo, and a razor could live together so blissfully? And for this we’re losing the great Greg Rikaart. Shame on Y&R!!

Jordan is SO boring. Of course, anyone paired in scenes with Lily is boring, IMO.

Ahhh, Soaphound. My heart hurts every time I think of Billy Miller in his role of Billy Abbott. I miss him so much. What Miller did to that role was remarkable…..he made Billy A special, in that, no matter what ‘bad’ deed he engaged in was ok!
It sounds unreasonable, but it’s what the viewer felt. Thompson’s “reincarnation” (so aply put) of Billy is a farce. You’re right, this Billy approaches everyone with a modified snarl….with indignation.
Cane does it under the surface—sneak.
I wish Miller would come back. I cannot connet with Jason.

Ok, T….Kenny G made me laugh!! Hard! HaHa.

Charm, you cannot learn it, its embedded in me sweetheart! Glad to make you laugh. Missed our old time chats. Different vibe on this site, huh?

Celia…oh, yes. Now that JFP and her ‘Golden Boy’ Steve Burton have left ‘the Y&R building’ (Y-A-Y!!!!!), Billy Miller needs to come back to Y&R ASAP (He’s being wasted on GH, anyway). And Jason Thompson needs to BE SHOWN THE DOOR!!!!!

Later, my friend.

@Jaybird.
Y&R could go back to its fairytale splendor, Jay, if Billy M would return. Would he pick up or maintain those same magnetic characteristcs which held us captive?
It’s a hit or miss, my friend. But, I’ll take him, anywhichway. LOL.

Yeah, Timmmy. Miss our chats….not from lack of trying. Many of my posts to you and Shay do not go through.
I must comment on “Kenny G”, LOL. I am so disappointed!!!! He’s not as hot as in his picture. LOL.
What did I ever see in him? That hair ‘gots’ to go. Who knows what’s growing in there.
You and Soaphound nailed it—-
The twins? As bad as the teens on Days; if not worse.
Yet, I love my Y&R; with all its flaws.

Y&R should really look for an in-your-face- actor….add a little spice and comedy in the mix.
I love my soap, but, as it is, Nick is the only one who tries to lighten up the ‘atmosphere’. Don’t laugh, T, I said ‘tries’.
Yes, it’s a soap, and typically drama-filled. But, times call for some respite. Laughter is the answer.
You remind me of my husband—he makes me laugh, more often than not. Contrary to popular belief, we do not have a weird sense of humor, LOL….they just don’t get it. We could be at a family/friends gathering and he’ll whisper something to me, making me break out into peels of laughter., …as I watch my mother shake her head, saying, “First God creates them; then He puts them together” LOL.
Laughter is a gift, Timmmy…..we should do it more often. So, thank you.

Ha, ha, ha! Tim, you’re funny.
But who is Kenny G? Would that be Graham? Scott?
Am I the only one who really likes Scott?
But I agree with the rest. When Jordan speaks it’s like hearing one big giant yawn. And all the money in the world cannot make Devon interesting.
I do like Tess and that girl can sing.

True story the other day sitting at a bar grill for lunch they had Y&R on the bartender says oh look Yanni and Linda Evans back together. We all started laughing Sharon and Scott ! Too funny!

Too funny, k/kay! Poor Linda…she really did love the “guru” singing dude….

Kenny G is Scott. Graham, I like him. He and Ashley would be great together. They need to extend Graham’s connections to Y&R or bring in some of his family to bulk up his linage. He is handsome and sneaky!

Lol, T….I like Scott, too….I just don’t think he’s as good looking as I originally thought.
You really think he’s sneaky? What did I miss? Do you think he has an agenda? If he does, wouldn’t it be tasty ( lol) if Victor is the target?!
I hope against hope thst Sheila will make the trip to GC, if for nothing else, but to see her and Scott come “faccia a faccia”.
Should be interesting, for lack of a better word…..whereas, I am sure that any confrontation with Luren will be high voltage.

First, to be fair, he can act and I like his witty banter BUT he is smug and SOMEONE needs to tell him he needs to cut that ugly mop! [A girlfriend, wife boyfriend, SOMEONE!] I dont think Victor is his target because Vic paid 10 million dollars to free his hair! I hope Sheila shows up and shaves him bald! But like you said, having Lauren and Sheila face-off would be high voltage!

Oh yes, CeeCeeGirl….I generally do “decode” your thoughts as they are so carefully expressed here….I also usually try likewise to be as arcane as possible when I don’t want to see an important conversation slip through the cracks, not always successfully though…Then again, there are times when being as direct as possible is paramount…all depends upon the situation! However, your lovely personal sentiments and notions on “The 4th” came through loud and clear, and I wish you and yours a most happy one, as well!!! For the first time in quite awhile, it shall actually feel like “Independence Day!” (And isn’t that what it’s all about? Celebrating our country’s founding and those brave, wise men of great foresight who created its basic framework that still is serving us well today!) At any rate, it’s always a joy to share whatever we can manage to convey here, so that will be another wonderful thing to toast come the holiday weekend. Have fun, stay safe and be good! (Well, maybe not the last one, at least within reason!!!….I know you will! LOL…)

Hello, Sir Timmmbo! I miss our fun little chats, too…as CeeCee said, it’s certainly not for lack of trying….often attempting to share thoughts with the two of you is like the cyber-equivalent of talking to one’s self, since that’s how far the conversation usually goes! At any rate, hope you are having a truly “great” summer and please know that just because we seemingly can’t exchange many words here anymore doesn’t mean that I’ve forgotten how delightful and special my previous times posting with you and “Double C” were…wonderful memories, indeed!

Awww Shay, just the sweetest words, thank you. I to have no idea what goes on behind the cyber curtain on this site. It seems like less is posted about GH and Michael seems to stay away from ANYTHING that might cause heated debates? He doesnt post ratings that often anymore either. That would get everyone talking about all four soaps. Maybe the good old day are just that, the good OLD days? But I still am grateful to him for sharing his love for this art form. Also, you and Cee, my Cyber sisters, what it would mean to get together and have a round table marathon JUST on Alexis and the the recently humbled Jules! Take care Shayster, you are tops baby!

Lol @ ‘Kenny G.’ I swear I was thinking that subconsciously but that mop is original if nothing else (probably because no one besides the real Kenny G would dare attempt it;). However I’m just going to assume he is a naturally curly dude, but I wish they would stop trying to give him this friction with Abby because Sharon deserves better than a burgeoning possible love triangle. Abby’s annoying, and she complains whenever Victor gives anyone any promotions or new responsibilities, feeling threatened for no reason, because last I checked only Abby, Scott, and Victor are the only employees at Newman Enterprises, so she has no competition to worry about and she’s already proven herself.

@Timmm….Oh, you are ever so welcome, my friend….even though it does truly sadden me that I cannot keep in regular contact with both you and CeeCee, because you two ALWAYS make my day! I agree that a roundtable discussion amongst us would be an exercise in fun (and hilarity…) of epic proportion…just think of ALL the “characters” the three of us could discuss!!! LOL…However, we must just “catch as catch can” here…no matter how occasionally the opportunity presents itself! At any rate, I believe you are right when you note that Mr. Fairman generally–and maybe now, more than ever–exercises caution on these threads to keep dust-ups at bay and I also understand his need to edit/curb some of our more, um, enthusiastic and candid comments about the programs and their players, lest he receive negative feedback from the soap community over our sometimes passionately-stated opinions! Even though that policy often leaves me personally disappointed when I’ve felt compelled to excitedly overshare a cheeky observation, it’s reasonable. However, what does give me pause is when only one point-of-view is permitted or given more prominence than the other side of an issue. For example, just look at what transpired after jimh cracked one of his characteristically good-natured (and harmless) quips on this thread….what was immediately unleashed was an all-too-familiar barrage of unbridled hostility about a topic that essentially had nothing to do with the subject-at-hand, and yet, it made it through…and for the umpteenth time, no less!!!! But how many opposing thoughts were allowed? If we cannot state or defend our own divergent views after such notions are broached by others, than why even open this Pandora’s Box when the original response(s) were completely uncalled for—but nevertheless posted—in the first place? To repeatedly provide such platforms to only a chosen few simply breeds even more contempt and resentment than what is already naturally present, especially when there is an obvious attempt to not deal with all of us on an equally unbiased basis. Having said that, I’m still grateful that we possess this unique meeting place to trade our ideas on all things soaps, especially when it involves the utterly unique people that we’ve been lucky enough to encounter here…like yourself and too many more to mention! I suppose that particularly shiny silver lining as it applies to this situation shall have to suffice for now! Later, Sir Timmmbo, and thank you for your ever-kind words, too!

Well written and eloquently said, Shaybelle.
I thank both you and our Timmmbo for the accolades and memories, my friends.
Keeping to the unbalaced, discordant theme you, so revealingly articulated, put your seatbelts on…..a couple more have joined the gaggle.
Does not dissuade moi from participating. Happy 4th, you guys!!

Ps, Shay….I hope you can read between the (my, LOL) lines??

Always knew Y &R will be the last remaining soap. Happy for the renewal. Doubt this will happen for GH the wat the show has been going.

Have been a loyal viewer of Y&R since day one. Good news on the renewal.

Surprised that Y&R would get a 3 year extension with falling ratings. Price is Right should have gotten 3 years and Y&R should have gotten 1 or 2 at best with boring The Talk and Lets Make Me Snooze. Still mad with CBS for ripping hearts with the ATWT and GL cancellations. Maybe they will return some day as 30 minute soaps that are more seasonable in lieu of every day. I already have great ideas for a GL return.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

‘General Hospital’ Marks Unprecedented 16,000th Episode Milestone with New Cast Photo

Published

Today’s Monday, July 13 episode of General Hospital marks it 16,000 episode to air on the ABC television network. It is a remarkable milestone. The previous television record was held by Guiding Light which clocked in at 15,762 episodes before it went off the air on CBS in 2009.

To mark the occasion, the cast, crew and creative team of General Hospital celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony on the Prospect Studios lot in Los Angeles back on Monday, June 1, 2026.

In addition, GH has released a new cast photo taken the day of the on set celebration. Pictured in the photo are front row: Rory Gibson, Finn Carr, Kayden Brenna Tokarski, Asher Antonyzyn, Giovanni Mazza, Braedyn Bruner, Dean Geyer and Nathan Dean.

Featured in the back row are: Tabyana Ali, Eden McCoy, Josh Swickard, Kristen Vaganos, Rebecca Herbst, Dominic Zamprogna, Alexa Havins, Cameron Mathison, Brooke Kerr, Cynthia Watros, Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Jane Elliot, Maurice Benard, Laura Wright, Maura West, Donnell Turner, Nancy Lee Grahn, Tanisha Harper, Kelly Thiebaud, Kristina Wagner, Lynn Herring, Chris McKenna, Katelyn MacMullen and Sawandi Wilson.

In addition, the official GH social media handles shared these sentiments along with some other photos from the cake cutting: “Today’s episode of General Hospital is the 16,000th produced since the show’s inception in 1963. It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
