General Hospital
Chris McKenna Reportedly Out as ‘General Hospital’s’ Jack Brennan

As ABC’s General Hospital continues to make casting additions in front of the camera; a new report indicates that Chris McKenna is the next contract player to be written out of the show as his storyline as Port Charles WSB bureau chief, Jack Brennan, is coming to end this fall.
According to sources close to the situation, who informed Soap Opera Network, McKenna will exit the long-running soap opera when Jack is killed-off the canvas. The outlet shares, Brennan’s death will come about as the soap, “leans heavily into storylines surrounding the World Security Bureau (WSB).”
McKenna, who previously appeared on the soaps when he was 12 as a young Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live from 1990-1993, then as an adult as Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless from 2014-2015, and next on The Bold and the Beautiful in the short term role of Dr. Hayden, began his run as GH’s Brennan back in February of 2025, replacing Charles Mesure in the role.

JACK’S ROCKY ROAD TO ROMANCE
In fact, McKenna won the part over Daniel Goddard and Daniel Cosgrove, who eventually were cast in other roles on General Hospital, that of Henry Dalton and Ezra Boyle, respectively. Chris informed his fans via X, back in August of 2025, that he was put on contract at the daytime drama and thanked them for helping make it happen.
Chris told Michael Fairman TV how it was to step into the role previously played by Charles Mesure, “I knew the challenge it was going to be and I had a like 0nly five days to get my head around it, so I was ready for it. Sure, it was challenging, but I was up for it. I was a recast before on The Young and the Restless.”
On-screen, Jack became romantically involved with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), but that went bust when Carly learned Jack was not up front with her and had secretly enlisted her daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to join the WSB. Over months, Carly plotted to get revenge on Jack, and suddenly, Valentin Casssadine (James Patrick Stuart), Jack’s mortal enemy, came into the picture and he had fallen for Carly and she for him.
Now, Jack has started up a relationship with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and has found himself in situations stooping to lows to help Nina and her criminal daughter, Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) out of jams, especially where Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is concerned.

REUNITING WITH ERIKA SLEZAK
Last fall, Chris got a thrill of a lifetime when his OG on-screen mother from One Life to Live, the iconic Erika Slezak (ex-Viki) took on a guest role on General Hospital as Ronnie Bard, the secret sister of Monica Quartermaine (the late Leslie Charleson). While the two did not have a storyline together, Chris did share some tender moments reconnecting with Erika on the set,
McKenna has a laundry list of primetime credits including: State of Affairs, Good Trouble, Lucifer and Castle, where in an ironic twist he appeared alongside another Joey Buchanan none other than Nathan Fillion.
So, how do you feel if the report holds true and GH is killing off Brennan and Chris McKenna would exit the show? How do you think Brennan will die on GH? Will he be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and someone will take him out? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.
This is so wrong!!
There is still so much story that could be written for Brennan.
Chris is a terrific actor and GH is making a huge mistake.
I agree totally. Ive followed his career for years after he debut on OLTL as a young teen. He has a terrific screen presence and he is perfect for the role of Brennan. The WSB story writing really sucks. But Chris always gives solid believable performances. Killing him off is just stupid!
I agree!
I do not want to see Jack killed off! I love this actor!
I agree
It’s an absolute waste of talent by letting Chris go. Yet GH continues to keep other actors/actresses who should have been removed long ago.
I agree…Jack should stay on GH.
Absolutely! This is totally, so wrong!! The best Brennan, ever. Handsome, excellent actor.
Don’t kill him off. He is a great actor and adds so much to the show.
Do not kill him off!! Kill the real Villain…Willow!!!
Totally agree!
Yes please
Right! Get rid of Drew also! I’ve had enough of of his nonsense.
I agree, get rid of the craziest. I could possibly think of a couple ways for Willow. Can we say ‘injection ‘?
Willow will kill him because yesterday show tells him in control. Willow won’t like that at all. Please get this Serena out.
I agree
maybe he will take a bullet to save Joss.
Eww. No. I hate Joss enough without that happening.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brennan is an important character for the WSB storyline. If they’re planning to feature the WSB, that should definitely include Brennan as section chief. Now that he’s tangled in the web of Nina and Weeping Willow, there are all kinds of possibilities for Brennan. Besides that, Chris McKenna is a very natural and wonderful actor. He’s a great addition to the cast. I beg TPTB, please don’t let Chris and Brennan go.
Joss taking over yeah getting rid of Brennan.
I love❤️ Brennan he’s a doll im so tied of that show getting rid of the best get rid of carly i can’t stand her
Not surprised. Chris McKenna is a fine actor; however, he was mis[re]cast as Brennan. This is an overdue exit of the character at this point.
Agreed! He came in after the very sexy Charles Measure and it was a real contrast. I could never get used to him.
I was just really starting to enjoy him. Once he got away from Carly, he really blossomed. He is great with Nina. Stupid decision.
i hope this isnt true, I like Chris alot as Jack and eventhough Frank Valentine new version of the WSB kind of sucks, I like having characters that are WSB on the show. I still think they need to work on Joslyn as a WSB agent especially with her letting eveyone know shes an agent. she for sure cannot do undercover work in port chartles, maybe overseas escapades but not in port charles, but back to Chris being let go, it sucks if its true i hope this is a bad or incorrect rumor, come on GH keep Chris on.
Once she was shot, and the case details came out she knew she wouldn’t be able to do under cover stuff anymore. Brennan had already told her that. That’s why she told her Mom and others she was WSB.
Please give Chris McKenna more story as Jack Brennan. He has the most charisma of all. Especially if WSB story grows.Chris is terrific and one of my favs .
Nina and Jack are good together.First no Ava and Ethan and now Jack and Nina.Noo please!
Ugh! I do not like the latest Ethan— Absolutely NO chemistry or sting! Yuck!
I don’t like him either
I don’t like the latest one playing little James either
You’re criticizing a child? The KID was called in at the last minute when Gary (the regular James) was injured. Adults and most teenagers are worthy of critique – not little kids.
I totally agree, the new Ethan doesn’t work at all, sorry but its true. Chris McKenna is doing a Fantastic job. You really need to keep him. It doesn’t matter what character he has he slides perfectly into it. It will be big mistake. Please rethink this.
Sorry but the new Ethan is the worst! Not at all like Ethan and a horrible actor. They also need to change Serena – yuck!
Keep Chris as Brennan. So much more he could bring to the show
The show is fairly controlled when it comes to leaks. They especially wouldn’t leak something to a tertiary outlet like SON.
Regardless, McKenna grew on me in the role, but despite some chemistry with Watros, the character’s days were numbered once the breakup with Carly happened.
Nooooooo!!!!!! I like this character!
I am so sick of GH getting rid of good characters and adding insignificant characters with insignificant story lines. Willow, Drew and possibly Curtis are the ones that need to kick rocks. I love me some Jack.
You have to learn to separate characters from actors! Donelle Turner is a terrific actor! I dont care how you may not like how Curits is behaving. It would be stupid of the show to fire Donelle. The same goes for Cameron Matheson and Kate MacMullen. Cameron is a terrific actor and he has nailed the role of Drew so well everyone hates him. Kate MacMullen has really improved as an actress since her character has gone dark.
Again if the show fired everyone just becaue the audience didnt like their character’s actions people like Jane Elliot wouldnt have lasted this long. When she first came on GH Tracy was the house bitch! In the story even the sainted Lesley Webber didnt like her! That was because Jane was excellent at playing the bitch. Again you guys need to learn to separate the characters from the actors. This is a continuing story. Of course you arent going to like everything the characters do. But good actors cant be fired just because you get ticked at their alter egos lol.
You make some good points, however Donnel ( Curtis)is a one note, monochromatic actor who is not talented enough to rise above the poor writing that is afforded to him. He is not a good actor. I also take umbrage with you as a new commentator coming in here as Captain Obvious telling folks not once, but twice, that they can’t distinguish fiction from reality. They know the difference.
Well said Harry (as always)
We are following characters on a soap. These actors make or break a role. Getting replaced or fired is just a part of soap operas. We aren’t all going to agree, so I doubt the powers that be listen to us very much.
The characters are the soap…
AGREE!!
This is just another example of how inept Frank Valentini is at running this show. Chris has been a great recast. Of course he didnt have the same chemistry with Laura Wright. But big deal. They ended that. What matters is that he is very believable in the role of a WSB Cheif. I cant understand why they would kill him off if theyre going forward with more WSB type stories. He is the perfect anchor for these types of stories.
The problem is the writing. Thus far this generation’s WSB stories have been lackluster, convoluted and pointless. The Five Poppies-Cold Fusion debackle led us around in circles for the better part of a year and the conclusion was pretty lame. We didnt even get a huge Crisis in Port Charles . Nor did we ever get to see the Prototype. Firing Chris is a very bad move.
Brennan is good with Nina. Don’t kill him off.
Please don’t write Chris McKenna out of GH! He is a wonderful actor and has become one of my favorite GH characters.
U’re correct on all points David.
I hope this does not happen because he is and amazing actor and his character has so much yet to do!
Good actor but enough of this entanglement with Nina and Willow , too much
I love his acting and character. I think it would be a huge mistake to get rid of him. Please keep him on General Hospital
Hope it’s a lie I think his doing a great job even though he does some things that he shouldn’t but if it’s true hope he takes willow with him I hate that she has done so many things and gotten away with them and tries to look innocent that smirky laugh she did when she threw her wedding ring yuk and would love love to see chases face when he finds out all the things his lovely innocent friend has done
What? Awful. Just awful.
Say it ain’t so!!!! Not hit the road Jack! Come on!!!! I wish I stead of killing off Jack, kill this long storyline about Willow.
Horrible Horrible descision to let Chris McKenna go! Pls GH reconsider and keep him!!! If his ‘ killed ‘ off make it so he can return quickly.
Not pleased. He is one of my favorites
Please don’t kill him off He is really good.
Please don’t kill Jack.
This is a terrible move. Jack and Nina have shown real sparks — as did Nathan Parsons’ Ethan and Ava. The show is saddled with new pretty boys with dubious acting abilities, so getting rid of an older, solid actor to focus on the likes of Hudson, Simon, Tristan, et al, is a bonehead move.
Disappointed. Great chemistry with Nina.
Where is he going????
I really like Chris/jack and wish he wouldn’t be cut. Willl he be on another Soap?
Big mistake. He adjusted accordingly with the abrupt sea shifts of the story writing. Moreover, he has a strong chemistry with Cynthia Watros which he didn’t have with Laura Wright. He was making Jack Brennan work despite what the writers threw at him. What I most appreciate about him is he allows his natural sense of humor to shine through which really made his interactions with Nina to shine through. If they want to focus more on WSB, why get rid of Jack Brennan, thr director of the Port Charles WSB division? And if they make that obnoxious, petulant Skipper Jax his replacement, I will be forced to quit watching. I doubt they’d go there so perhaps they’re looking at Valentin.
1000% Agreed! Everything you said! Skipper Jax IS the Most Obnoxious. I may Actually Stop Watching this Soap in Protest! Ughh!
Joss will see contents of black box. Joss will see he helped Willow get away with attempted murder. Willow will kill him to keep her secrets. Too late Willow.
O hell no what a mistake I love him he will be missed
Why would they kill him Jack of just when it was getting interesting what the should get rid of the story with Carly and Valentine that a uggg with them two no chemistry
The story with Jack is just getting interesting the story with Carly and Valentine is a no no they have no chemistry
They certainly don’t!
I don’t like him with Nina. But I don’t want him gone either. I feel like there’s so much more that can be written for him. For example, I want to see where the story with Willow’s going. He’s just beginning a real story with Josslyn. It would be great to see how that evolves. Please don’t let him go!
Chris McKenna is a great actor and is great for the show, why do you all always mess up a great cast??? No wonder General Hospital doesn’t win many awards, you mess with what works. Find some better people who can see what fans want!!! Stop screwing with what works!!!
General Hospital doesn’t win many awards? They’ve won the Emmy for Best Drama Series for the past 5 years in a row, and 7 times total during Frank Valentini’s tenure as executive producer, lol.
GH…BAD DECISION!!!!! VERY, VERY BAD DECISION!!!!!
Valenteen. Will probably will shoot Brennan. Maybe, or Jason or sunny. Will. Lol
Valentin is the one who should be shot. I do not trust or like that slimy guy.
What’s Valentin going to do? Threaten Jack with a ladle?
This is too bad. Brennan is an interesting character and I will miss seeing Chris on the show.
Chris McKenna has been a great addition to the canvas over the last few years and I will be sorry to see him go. I think that they are making a mistake killing off Jack Brennan.
I like him as Jack, he probably will get killed off by Willow
This doesn’t make sense all these good actors slipping thru the cracks.
Just beginning to love this character Jack now that hes getting a decent story line. He’s great with Nina. Stop getting rid of your best people
GH. !
Nooooooooooo
Get rid of Curtis Ashford or send him to prison fir being an idiot. Please keep Chris.
Never thought I’d be saying this, but this is a shame. It took me a long time, but Chris McKenna won me over as Brennan. I didn’t like him as the recast when he took over for Charles Mesure, but he made the role his own, and I eventually grew to like his portrayal of the character.
This is very odd timing when they just began a story with Brennan and Nina, and McKenna has obvious chemistry with Cynthia Watros. I don’t like when they bring on a bunch of new characters like they have recently, some contract players, and they have to write out existing characters to even things out, since Frank clearly has his quota of contracted actors that he’s not allowed to exceed.
Hope this report is wrong, and Chris McKenna and Brennan get a reprieve.
Is Frank Valentini and the writers trying to get the show canceled? None of the storylines have made any sense. Either Frank Valentini, the writers or the show will be gone.
So, the ratings are up since last year. Frank works wonders with the budget. The Spoon Island shootout at the beginning of July with the Cassius reveal was highly regarded. So, neither Frank, nor Chris/Liz are leaving.
But ratings matter too!
And they have been trending up for most of the year.
Very unhappy with this news
There are others who should go before he goes.
This is a very unpleasant surprise. In the beginning I wasn’t a fan but I liked Charles Mesure with Carly plus they just didn’t have the chemistry but now he really is having chemistry with Nina and they’re good together! My one problem is he has info with Willow being the shooter and I hope he gives it to Carly before his demise.
I didn’t say anything wrong at all not to allow my comment!!!!
I like Jack! H
Another bad move by GH! Another excellent actor , popular with fans gone! I hope they know how upset their fans are and keep him!

‘General Hospital’s’ Josh Swickard Recalls Emotional Moment After His Final Scenes with Michael Easton, and Favorite ‘Chase’ Storyline

Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase, General Hospital) is the special guest on this week’s all-new episode of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart. The GH fan favorite and leading men opened up about his life pre and post GH, his marriage to actress and producer, Lauren Swickard, and some of his toughest and most memorable moments during his eight-plus years as officer Chase of the PCPD.
One of the most heartbreaking moments came when Josh had to say farewell to his on-screen brother Finn played by soap veteran, Michael Easton. It was back on the Thursday, June 27, 2024 episode of General Hospital.
In it, Chase drives Finn to a rehab facility and the two brothers share a heartfelt talk in the car. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to his daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love). Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing. It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.

MISSING HIS TV BROTHER
Josh spoke to the “Soapy” podcast hosts about it and recalled, “In our last scenes together, and it was like his last day. Michael was like, ‘It’s okay.’ And I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ I was supposed to be crying in the scene, I think. I was like a little glassy-eyed, a little glazed over. And then they were like, “And cut.” I was like, “Great.” I just like went behind the car and wept.”
Speaking of his professional and personal relationship with Easton, Josh expressed, “Michael is an awesome guy. He’s such a sweetheart. We’ve done fan events together in New York and he would show me things, like, ‘This where I used to live …’ He’s like an older brother to me.”
Not only did Josh lose his on-screen brother, but he also lost his on-screen father, Gregory, played by Gregory Harrison, when he was killed-off the show after the character battled ALS. “I think I was more just mourning friends that play family on a show, but a show that goes year after year, year round, and so they become family,” explained Swickard. “So, that part’s been hard for me of just losing friends that while, yes, you get to see each other, you get to call each other, it’s different (when they leave).”

CHASE IN A COMA IS FAVORITE OF JOSH’S
When asked, what has been his favorite storyline during his run on GH thus far, Josh took it back to when Chase became became critically ill after being poisoned by a toxic from Peter August (Wes Ramsey) meant for Finn. Eventually, Finn had to rescue his brother with the antidote for the toxin. That story played out from April to June 2021.
Josh explained, “Where I was in a coma and I was seizing and coughing and I had no blocking for like four months! It was great! It was a storyline where I was about to die and I had to say goodbye to a lot of lovely people and it was so exhausting. You get in the car and you feel like you got hit by a train every day because your body doesn’t fully know what acting is, apparently. I remember multiple days being like, ‘Oh, this is why I signed up for this.'”
Swickard also answered if there were moments in the storyline if he felt Chase was not going to survive. The GH star answered, “There were moments that I wondered. However, I think they were pretty upfront with me. They were like, ‘This isn’t what’s going to happen.'”

At the end of the video, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is seen in his cell at Pentonville. He gets what appears to be his new cellmate, and utters, “You?” Is this when Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) has manipulated someone from the inside to visit Curtis and begin a plan to get what he wants from Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and use her lover to do his dirty work? ‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

Courtesy/ABC
HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.
