Christian Monzon cast as Delores Padilla's sexy hubby on General Hospital!

By Michael Fairman

General Hospital’s PCPD’s Delores Padilla is finally getting a hubby on-screen, after talking about her other half for quite some time!

ABC Soaps In Depth has learned that actor and model Christian Monzon has been cast in the role of Eddie Cabrera and will first be seen on-air the week of April 16th!

Monzon’s credit include roles on Shameless, Dollhouse, Entourage and CSI: NY, but many recognize his face and his body from many high-fashion campaigns and music videos including Dolce & Gabbana fragrance ads and videos with everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Mariah Carey!

So what do you think?  Looking forward to Christian mixing it up in Port Chuck?

well if he’s the stripper killer he won’t be on the screen very long…oh wait, this is PC where the PCPD are completely inept! Welcome aboard Christian!

JR , Keep in mind that john mcbain will change the sloppy police work that has been taking place at the port charles pcpd for a very long time.I keep thinking that Ron guy cop is the stripper killer I dont like or trust him.Is that his name anyway he is that cop guy that was or is a friend of dante.Never seen this Christian guy before But I must say he is easy on the eyes.

Keep in mind that as long as Maurice Benard is on GH, McBain doesn’t stand a chance of “winning”. What would they do with MB if McBain actually “won” and put Sonny behind bars? Until they say good bye to MB we all know how this story ends….Sonny walks free again. It’s so friggin old it’s ridiculous. It doesn’t take a genious to see that the new regime should do a complete make-over to GH to give it a fighting shot of staying on the air. Sonny and his mob just continue to drag this soap lower and lower in the ratings and there’s nothing John McBain can do about that.

Is this supposed to be Frank’s GH casting surprise that we were all waiting for–someone who had never been on GH or OLTL?

No, it isn’t! According to Carolyn Hinsey’s twitter account, the actor that’s the mystery casting news is someone from OLTL!

Thats what I heard to. a actress from one life to live.

oooh, I hadn’t read it was going to be an actor/actress formerly on OLTL [gees Barbara T – you and I both know that list is gianormous! :-)] I suppose they mean someone recently on there, otherwise it could be Christian Slater or Tommy Lee Jones! ha

well my guess than would be Trevor or Kassie — Trevor would make sense. Maybe John McBain catches a glimpse of him thru a window and rescues him and brings him back to LLanview and hey – Todd couldn’t have killed Victor cuz he’s alive and then Todd has charges dropped and is free to return to Port Charles and Starr…. sounds like a familiar road that McBain has been on. For GH viewers, Todd (but he was really Victor) was on deathrow – actually he was being executed and John McBain gets barges in right after he’s died, along with the woman that Todd was charged with murdering — but Todd (really Victor) was resuscitated ironically by the diabolical M.D. that set him up in the 1st place.

isn’t soap writing marvelous?!

can we leave the newbies at the door please!!!? At this time in GH history the producers and writers should not be focusing on Delores Padilla and her deadbeat hubby!

And forget about Kassie DePaiva (not that I want to). In ABC Soaps in Depth: “”Setting the record straight, DePaiva tells us that “my character was not invited to stay there, which I’m sure was based on story.” Which isn’t to say that somewhere down the line, that won’t change. “We’re not talking about Llanview anymore; we’re talking about Port Charles. If there’s not a place for Blair at GH, then there’s not a place for Blair at GH. I, personally, have no say in it whatsoever.” Should her phone ring, however, she’ll happily answer! “Would I like to come back and play? Absolutely!” she says enthusiastically.””

This is the reason I won’t be watching GH. Todd and Starr without Blair? No, thanks.

hey, as long as Todd & Starr are on GH, there’s always the chance that she’ll show up!

I hope you’re right, Christy. I hate that ABC teased us with Todd and Blair and then pulled the rug out. Until I see Blair back on GH, TnB ended for me on 1/13/12.

“Finally getting a hubby” is not quite the words I would use, Michael.

More like, “Uh! Can you believe they’re wasting our screen time and their money with another useless newbie no one has ever cared about, husband of another useless newbie no one has ever cared about?”

agree with you about “newbies”… i’ve always liked robin christopher… as Sky… i wish they’d find story for her… she’s excellent as a quartermaine… great actress.. who, in my opinion is the best with Luke… as far as chemistry…. since laura. she can act. like her and tracy fighting… and Sky was also hot with Jax. scenes with monica, edward, and tracy… are a hoot.

I agree about the newbie. Why hitch a wagon to a uninteresting character? Delores’ character never took off, so to hire another newbie to accompany that? Doesn’t make sense.

you know, Robin Christopher, as Skye, was on OLTL for a couple years and stirred up a lot of trouble for Todd, Blair & Max, and on GH made a lot of trouble there…. she’d be a great trouble maker to bring to GH now that Todd is going to be on there and hopefully more visits from Blair! And the Quartermaine’s could use more “family” around, trouble maker that she is. Alice needs someone to spar with! te he he

Why is GH wasting time casting a husband for a character and a storyline we don’t care about? Why enhance Delores’s story? We don’t need another extraneous cast member who means nothing. Rather than waste money and limited screen time on another new guy, bring back a real character (a Q or Bobbie or Robert) that we are all chomping at the bit to see!

I thought we were seeing a change at GH. This isn’t it.

Great news hopefully he can stay:>)

newbie is a hottie, hope they don’t make him into a stalker, that would suck, as for kassie not coming on board to GH, can people relax, nothing is written in stone, whose to say down the line she wont come on board, and the same for all other oltl characters. We can’t have them all come on board all at once, people need to chill, you all sound so desperate, let the show concentrate on the talent they have now, and as story dictates then others can come an play. Not everything has to be NOW or never, gee people, take your xanax and relax. enjoy the show, let stories develop .

Sensible post…..!

well it’s about time we got some Man Candy! ha!
GH has had so many Playboy girlies on, it’s like, hey! where’s my eye candy?! bwahahahahaha

-Sam/Kelly Monaco April 1997 Playmate
-Angel/Angel Boris Reed July 1996 Playmate
-Bobby Spencer/Jackie Zeman worked as a Bunny at a Playboy Club, 1970-1972
-FBI Agent Reese Marshall /Kari Wuhrer considered an offer to appear nude in Playboy in 1998
-Vanessa Marcil offered cover and layout, but declined. Says she turned them down 4 times.

Christy, you wrote elsewhere Tuc Watkins was on GH before OLTL. When was this, what character did he play, how long was he on GH?

1996 his name was pierce dorman,Dont think he was on that long.

I completely forgot he was on OLTL two separate times 5 years apart! His long run, which is what is most remember was from 2001-2012, and yes prior to that he played Dr. Pierce Dorman on General Hospital, from 1996-1997, and prior to that he was on OLTL from 1994-1996.

On GH, Dr. Dorman was a bigoted GH doctor who refused to treat Stone Cates for HIV, sued Monica Q for sexual harassment, had nurse Marilyn Cooper drug Sonny with heroin then murdered her, was into drug dealing, got Emily addicted to drugs as revenge on Monica breaking up with him, used Em’s diary to give out Quartermaine secrets to the press, and his last deadly mistake – hiding heroin in the morgue of GH where he was stabbed to death by one of his South Amer. drug connections.

Tuc was much funnier on OLTL! ;-b

Christy, Robin christopher started out on all my children as adams chandlers daughter ,ray her real mother was on one life to live, skye found out she was adopted ,anyway murtle on amc,was her grandmother then except for murtle they all went to general hospital . all three soaps were involved in one story ,who was skyes father which was alan then it wasnt ,a lot of twists and turns.

Christy, you did your homework and I agree with you and have been saying the same,on march 31 2012 at 7;05 pm.There is no way the fans are leaving because of the one life to live characters crossing over ,they have hardly been on and we are talking about 4 people so 4 people from another soap is going to upset the gh fans (Which I am)and they are willing to leave a soap they care about ,because they are from one life to live ,thats makes no sense to me,these same people were willing to watch boring cassandra maggie delories am I missing anybody? at several other sights I have read alot of posts and some are not liking that blair wasnt asked back so they are not watching general hospital anymore so we can always say that the raise of the ratings were because of the oltl characters and now they are leaving ,several of the originals are still in port charles so why would they leave with them still on ?it can go both ways.Hopefully the ratings are low because of spring break,I know my boy is home on a break now and the last thing he is doing is watching television,Christy your post was brilliant and I agree with everything, and I mean everything you said ,good post.

thank you dear! yeah, it’s beautiful outside here! I see all soaps were down during spring break weeks, so it’s not just GH viewers that went awol! and I saw that GH live viewers only went down 1,000 whereas the others were down in the 6 figures – can only think that people are out during most of the day and maybe not so many were out at the 2 or 3pm time it’s on and caught it live as I did see the same day viewing was down alot. You know when I go on vacation, I tape a week’s worth and it might not be watched until long after I’ve gotten home, so if people are watching more than 2 days later that is not counted either…. not to mention all the people that watch as I do with a digital tv tuner – that doesn’t count at all on the ratings cuz they don’t have a way to track those viewers.

how about the other daytime shows – didn’t their ratings drop too? the revolting and spew?

WHOAAAA! Now GH has my full intrest.. Luv the hunks! 🙂

I’m open to the character AND a new character. OLTL, only character’s that are unlike anything GH has. Roxy, Victor, or David Haywood, AMC. A old character from the past or two is fine, those that have legacy to the show. But not focused on everything OLTL at GH. 7x > OLTL had it movement in time and GH ” STILL ” has their’s!

I’m concerned about GH’s ratings slump ever since the OLTL characters arrived. People can’t claim that their arrival has had no impact on GH’s declining ratings for the past three weeks.

I don’t care that OLTL and GH are part of the “same ABC soap family”. There are two different shows with two different fanbases. And longtime GH fans don’t care a finger about OLTL characters because many of them never watched OLTL to begin with. They prefer to have GH veterans coming back to Port Charles instead.

The crossover was a great idea. But this should have been temporary. They should have never put the OLTL actors on contract. This mistake could very well send GH to the tombstone.

I would have hoped for this OLTL thing to work out on GH because I watched both OLTL and GH. But let’s face it, it is not working. GH fans are leaving and there aren’t enough OLTL fans that are tuning in to replace them. So why continue something that can be fatal for the show?

well it could have been temporary for some people IF both soaps were still on. I do not believe for one second that bringing over actors from another Agnes Nixon soap once on ABC, is fatal for GH. Anything but. I’ve watched both soaps since they began. There have been so many actors, and characters, that have been on both soaps and even on all of Agnes’ soaps (sometimes several at the same time in crossover stories). I don’t think it really matters if they bring them over as the same characters that can liven things up at GH or if they come over as new characters. How about Olivia on GH? That actress was on OLTL before. How about Bobby Spencer? Her portrayer, Jackie Zeman, was on OLTL before GH. Same for Alexis’ portrayer Nancy Graham.

Laura Wright used to be on Loving, during that same time Roger Howarth (Todd) was on there, as well as Ted King (Alcazar twins on GH and Tomas on OLTL). Jensen Buchanan was on both OLTL and GH as well as Roy Thinnes and Tuc Watkins.

As far as cross over storylines only being brief that would depend on whether the character was one that was one they want to keep, no matter what soap city they’re living in. Tracy Quartermaine was on GH, later on The City, then back to GH and that storyline from The City has been resurrected. Dr. Gretel Rae Cumming, played by Linda Dano, on OLTL originally from 1978-1980. Then again 1999 -2004 and had a crossover storyline between 4 ABC soaps – AMC in 1999 and 2000, GH in March 2000, PC in April 2000. Dr. Rae’s daughter crossed to 3 soaps – Skye Chandler Quartermaine, played by Robin Christoper went from AMC (1986–1991, 1996–1997, 2000), to OLTL (1999–2001), then to GH (2001–2008, 2010, 2011)

Anna Devane, long time GH favorite also appeared on AMC (with dual roles) and GH: Night Shift. Robin Scorpio made her way over to AMC to see Anna. I’m glad Anna survived on AMC since GH viewers only knew she was blown up with Robert! And of course with Robin visiting her in Pine Valley, it was a given that Anna would come back to Port Charles.

Marco Dane survived on both soaps. By the way, when Nancy Graham was on OLTL she portrayed Marco Dane’s secretary.

I think GH took a turn from the tomb when ABC hired on the best OLTL crossovers – the producer and head writer.

The only thing that will send GH to it’s death are the morons in charge of keeping or killing shows at ABC-Duh. GH had many bad storylines over the decades and it didn’t die because ABC kept the soaps going. They won’t kill GH over any actor or storyline now. I”m afraid it will either be the almightly dollar or sheer stupidity!

The only dissapointment I have is like everybody else Delores is not really someone we are invested in now if he can act as good as he looks!!! By the way someone asked me where I read that Jack Wagner had turned down a GH offer because it was not contract Lynda Hirsch & Carolyn Hinsey both commented on it but that does not mean they were right! But ask yourself this would you really want to work with your ex wife again I don’t know maybe they still have a good relationship.

They can pop up at different times ,Seems that people are coming and going quickly in port charles these days ,that could be a bad or a good thing,I could work with my x we are still very good friends.Do they have any kids together ?if they do they should for the sake of the kids get along.

I don’t believe they have kids together. I thought about that when it was suggested Wagner’s X realife wife wld be coming back. I never heard mention of kids. Personally, I dont wish to either of them.

I am betting that the major news will be the arrival of Melissa Archer – Natalie, coming to GH. Clue was Sonny showing Jason the picture of her & Liam.

Have only caught a few episodes of GH and still having issues getting into it again (watched years & years ago before it became Sonny-Central). If they change the focus of the show I will probably start watching on a more regular basis.

Casting this actor is lost on me since I don’t even know the character Delores.

Melissa Archer would be wonderful. I missed Sonny showing the photo to Jason and will go back and look–GH doesn’t hold my attention every second. It’s funny what Michael Easton said in TV Guide about Natalie staying in Llanview because she would be safe and nothing bad ever happens there (wasn’t that the truth!): “I think it would be a lovely thing to have Melissa come in, to have that dynamic again and to see McBain in that fashion. But I can also see him wanting to protect his wife and child during this clean-up job in Port Charles, and keep them safe in Llanview. [Laughs] Where there’s absolutely nothing to worry about because bad things never happens there.”

Delores is rarely seen – she’s a cop that sits next to Dante, that apparently took the photos of his phone/computer to protect someone or because Johnny is coercing her to do bad things. She is also a storyline I fast forward thru myself! Took me a while to figure out who Delores was in the recaps. Oh, well. Some people I guess like that story line… others will just enjoy looking at the guy they got to play her husband for a while! 🙂

I thought the same Chaz–When McBain 1st showed Sam the pic of his family they didn’t show it. So that’s soap for we don’t know what’s going on w/Nat & Liam, don’t know if we can get the actors, so don’t want to show’em. Now…they showed and focused on the pic of Nat & Liam and McBain had a more detailed, sentimental call w/them, so I’m thinking their clues too. I wonder if that announcement is still on the table and if that’s what it is? Hoping for the same. I FF Lante, Skate, Steve & Olivia, never mind Delores too. I like Anna, Luke, Tracey, Patrick, some of Liz and some of McBain (the Sonny stuff can get old).

Barbara, Jack & Kristina Wagner have two boys together.

Thanks Kay,I thought they had children together.

I sure hope it is not Melissa Archer (Natalie) that they bring over from OLTL. For one thing She would end up working the police station and of course clued to John. We have Lulu who does that with Dante already. Only half the viewers even liked Natalie and John getting back together. Didn’t you all love the scenes with John and Alice. John is better off without Natalie. I would not mind if Sonny has her killed and Liam comes to PC.

Yes, I was HALF of that viewership that didn’t like Natalie so much. I just never cared for her. Loved her red hair (although color was added it it) but wasn’t crazy about her look, or character. Don’t know why. The people that really ‘ like’ her, are probably like me trying to figure out ‘ why ‘ people like me are not fond of her.
( I wouldn’t say don’t like) bc I have no reason to ‘dislike’ her. I didn’t mind that she got back with John. I didn’t like that Nalalie became a Buchanan, OR the storyline that Vicki borned two daughter’s and forgot / didn’t know about the 2nd daughter, with all the prenatal care out here over the last 50 year’s………

He’s cute, but this stripper storyline has gone on way too long. Delores is boring anyways.

Totally agree! Who cares? She and the LOW and Maggie are all characters that make me tune out. I watch most days on Soapnet so can’t FF through them. Would if I could!

I wonder if the mystery casting scoop from OLTL could be that Melissa Archer could bring Natalie (along with Liam in tow!) to Port Charles and GH to reunite with Michael Easton and John McBain?

My money is on Ted King – he’s a veteran of both soaps – and a certain lovely black bird mentioned this a long time ago. He played (2) Alcazar’s on GH before he ever went to OLTL.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

on

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
