Christopher Sean Interview – Days of our Lives – 42nd Annual Daytime Emmys Red Carpet

Days of our Lives star Christopher Sean (Paul) chatted with Michael Fairman on the red carpet at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Christopher weighed-in on if Paul and John will have an ultimate father/son bond and long lasting connection, andhe reveals it was a sad day for him on the set when his on-screen love interest Freddie Smith finished his last scenes as Sonny Kiriakis, plus what it has meant to the young actor to be part of the cast of the NBC soap opera.

Gosh, when will we get to see at least one openly gay actor in one of those roles who doesn’t have to pose with women and make fun of two men being in love with each other?!

Gosh -She is his girlfriend. Been together before Days job. Does that mean only gay actors should play gay characters ? OMG actors take on roles. The best thing is though, Days have got a very good actor for this part ,so that is an improvement ! Gay , straight etc.. days need good actors and good stories..

RATINGS: DAYS On The Move – #2 In Key Demos 18-49, 25-54, and #3 in Total Viewers

Christmas in Salem came bearing gifts to Days of our Lives, as the audience was tuning-in to see what happened to Julie, Gabi, Abigail and a host of other Salemites.  In the latest ratings for the week of December 24-28th, which was the last full week of 2018 for television, DAYS moved on up in several key ratings categories.

First, DAYS overtook GH to gain the number three position in total viewers gaining (+196,000) from the previous week.  In addition, DAYS moved into the number two slot in the key 18-49 female demo, ahead of both The Bold and the Beautiful and GH.

The long-running NBC soap opera also landed at number three in the 18-34 demo, while ending up in the number two slot in the 25-54 female demo, as well.

The Young and the Restless also bounced back from an abyssal week, prior.  Y&R gained the most total viewers for the week netting +344,000, and did pick up viewers in all key demos.  The Bold and the Beautiful also fared well for the week in total viewers; adding +196,000, the same amount as DAYS.

General Hospital garnered +2,000 additional viewers for the week, and also added viewers for the week in demos 18-49 and 25-54, but found itself in fourth in total overall viewers.

Of note: repeats and episodes that did not count in the ratings system did weigh-in to final figures for the week from Nielsen.  To see the entire ratings picture via SON click here.

NBC Renews Days of our Lives For 55th Season

Those sands through the hourglass are not about to run out anytime soon, with news today that NBC has renewed Days of our Lives for a record 55th season for the network.  That means DAYS is picked-up through September 2020.

In a a statement, Bruce Evans, Executive Vice President, Current Programming, NBC Entertainment said: “With writing that manages to weave together Salem’s history with current realities, Ken Corday and his team have ushered the show’s legacy into a new era that resonates with both longtime and new viewers. The actors and crew have such a tremendous respect for ‘Days’ and what it means to fans. We believe that level of commitment shows through and touches our audience year after year.” 

DAYS executive producer, Ken Corday expressed: “It’s a great day in Salem! The sands in the hourglass will continue to flow for yet another year. We’re grateful to NBC and Sony for their continued support of the show and, of course, to our dedicated and passionate fans, we owe it all to you. Thank you for taking us through our 55th season. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.”

Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, Sony Pictures Television, added: “Ken Corday and his cast and crew continue to build on the strong legacy of dynamic storytelling and intriguing characters in Days of our Lives. We are proud that audiences both in the U.S. and around the world will get to enjoy this award-winning series for another year.”

Days’ 53rd season saw a 4% increase in total viewers from September 2017 to September 2018 compared to the previous twelve months. According to NBC, that is 2.55 million vs. 2.45 million in live +7 per Nielsen Media Research.

Days of our Lives is produced by Corday Productions, Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. It is executive produced by Corday, Greg Meng and Albert Alarr, with Ron Carlivati as head writer.

The soap aired its 13,500th episode in 2018. The show first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later.

Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Preview – Week of January 7, 2019

This week on Days of our Lives; after two bombshells about her boyfriend surface, Ciara (Victoria Konefal) is not pleased.  First, she learns he was the guy that kidnapped Gabi (Camila Banus) and brought him to Stefan (Tyler Christopher).  Later, Ciara overhears a key conversation that does not sit well with her … at all.  Is it curtains for #Cin?

Meanwhile, Xander (Paul Telfer) intends to move back into the Kiriakis mansion, now that he has ammunition in that flash drive thanks to Eve (Kassie DePaivba) on Titan. Looks like Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) new housemate might become quite the ally to take down the entire family for their own gain.

Chad (Billy Flynn) is trying to do everything he can to make Abigail (Kate Mansi) forgive him, and what he does for her is quite special. But what could it be?

And, we learn that Haley (Thia Megia) has ties to Salem and an explosive secret.
