As 2013 comes to a close and we are just a week away from the New Year, ABC has released a brand new promo for General Hospital that informs the viewer that there is plenty of drama ahead!
First, Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough) are seen cozy in bed, what does the future hold for this reunited couple? The mob war continues as Sonny (Maurice Benard) warns his son Morgan (Bryan Craig) that a target is on his back as Julian (William deVry) continues his plans to take down the Corinthos clan by any means possible!
And look for catfights galore as Ava (Maura West) gives a very stern warning to Carly (Laura Wright) stating: “I will make it a mission in my life to wipe you off the planet!” Oh my! Nothing like seeing two of daytime’s strongest female characters and performers going at it in the New Year!

I wish Sonny would go back to the cool persona he had in his hey day of the mid 1990’s…. remember after the war with Joe Scully Sr. was won and Sonny guaranteed that Luke’s club was no longer in danger because he was going to run his territory with “brains, not guns.” He was totally mellow and sexy, somehow now he is so often a parody of himself. Sad really.

Ewww…..Patrick and Sparkle Pony were an un mitigated disaster. Patrick always looked like the trapped wild animal willing to chew off a limb in order to get away from that perky little trap. They has no chemistry, there was no build up to their “romance” and subsequent heart break thus forth most fans are really rooting for Patrick and Robin to stay together. Of course, TM is pregnant in real life and knowing how creatively limited Ron is, he will probably not only have Patrick torn between two women, but torn between two children–oh yawn.

I didn’t watch all the Robin gets saved and the Scorpios get their family fight up. to see this garbage they are giving us.Plus losing Tristan. Franken Ron can think what they like but, those ratings didn’t go up because sparkle pony and her lap dog Felix were on, and it wasn’t his wonderful writing. It was Anna , Robert, Robin, Sean we never got to see get his cure. I will give Ron this ,he did let the super spies win. He also made Luke watchable lately I see his face and FF.I was SOOO looking forward to seeing Robin give her godfather Sean Donnely the cure to save him now that would have been something they could advertise.

This is the first time in months that I recall the mob being featured front and center on the show, and I don’t mind it at all. When it was featured all day every day back in the Phelps/Guza era, that I didn’t like. But I think the current regime has found a nice balance. I’m enjoying the show more now than I have in years. Hope Frank, Ron and company keep up the great work in 2014!

Maura VS. Laura is one battle I’ve been dying to see on this show. Two of the show’s strongest actresses and two of the strongest in the whole medium. I am so Team Ava, though!
I agree Scott, this should be a great battle. I was never familiar with Maura other than reading about her. I liked her almost immediately on GH. She seems to be enjoying playing her character also which makes it more fun for the audience.
Maura West; on General Hospital, has finally caught my attention.

As the world Turns… Carly… 2 time emmy winner… deserved those accolades… I just had a hard time.. with Carly and Rosanna… debut on the show… as the Snyder farm family was disintegrating and obliterated.. so.. hence.. I didn’t take a true liking to her… be that as it may… I watched ATWT to the very last day…
#2. Dianne… on Y&R. Nothing to say… even she will admit… it’s all a blur… and not worth the effort… she was wasted and coulda woulda shoulda had something with Nick. she was killed off… Y&R’ fault.
#3. Ava Jerome… slithered, sauntered, and sensual’ her steamy seduction… OK… exaggeration… but.. she’s relevant… and I, for one.. like the underlying current with Ava and Julian… Ava and Franco… Ava and Morgan… Ava and the Quartermaines… Ava and Silas… Ava and cat on a hot tin roof.. best Carly

I disagree about overacting! I cannot comment on the original Carly as I didn’t watch GH at the time that she was on the show. I was an avid GL fan and liked Laura Wright as Cassie, but love her even more here as Carly in GH! Easily one of my favorites…and her chemistry with Roger Howarth is unmatched by anyone except maybe Kelly Monaco and Michael Easton! I will say that I like Sarah Brown as an actress though, but since I did not see the show with her on it, I simply cannot imagine anyone else playing the role. Being that Laura Wright just signed a multi-year contract that will make her the actress who has played the role the longest, I doubt that you will get your wish! Sorry to disappoint… Overacting by the way is the guy who plays Morgan and even worse TJ!
Yes, I love Sarah Joy Brown – will love her forever as Carly. It was her role, genuinely and completely hers.
I don’t have anything against Laura Wright – I can see that she is a good actor. I just think she is SO miscast for the role of Carly. Not right physically, no chemistry or believability in any scenes with Jackie Zeman. And the crap with Franco is just appalling.
Sorry, but Laura IS Carly. I’d rather see SJB back as Claudia if anything. But I don’t see a GH return for her, nor do I see Laura leaving a role that is rightfully her’s. She has portrayed it the longest and strongest.

I am not looking forward to anything mob related, especially with Sonny Corinthos front and center.
I also think the show is missing a great story opportunity by reuniting Patrick and Robin. I think viewers, myself included naturally, would rather see Robin struggle to move on with her life than see Sabrina move forward without her prince charming. No matter how many scenes Sabrina is featured in, she is NOT central to the show. Robin is a heritage character who grew up on the show and deserves A-Line stories, especially after her resurrection. Sabrina, from her first appearance, was molded into a perfect heroine, in other words, a boring character without sufficient flaws for dramatic tension. It’s too bad because the show needs cultural diversity.
What am I looking forward to? How about more Cassadines? More Spencers? More hospital drama? I am all for that.
Looking forward to the cat fight between Ava and Carly! Now who’s the guy at the door at Maxie’s place? And I’m so happy Sabrina is pregnant with Patricks baby 🙂

Sabrina is not key to the central show yet…but will be if her pregnancy story line plays out with Patrick as the father. I think he will go back with Sabrina and raise their baby together. Currently, I don’t think there are an “stable” couples on the show. Patrick and Sabrina have potential to be a couple of stability. To me, there should be at least one couple on the show that would be considered stable. Sabrina was having a sobering and maturing impact on Patrick before Robin came back.

51st Annual Daytime Emmy Award Nominations: CBS Soaps Score Most, Eric Braeden, Dick Van Dyke, Guy Pearce Receive Nods
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) have officially announced on Friday, the full list of nominees for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
While Thursday brought with it four reveals of the nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama, Talk Show Host, Lead Actor and Actress categories (as presented by various entertainment news programs), today’s nominations include all the other categories not previously announced.
The Daytime Emmy Awards telecast is set to be presented live on Friday night, June 7, at 8 PM EDT /delayed PT, on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. This will mark the 18th time that CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys.

In addition, The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 8 at t9 PM ET/6 PM PT and streamed on The Emmys apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv. The ceremonies will take place at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles.
Television icon, Dick Van Dyke has received his first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category for his touching portrayal of Timothy Robicheaux on Peacock’s Days of our Lives. The nomination makes Van Dyke the oldest Daytime Emmy nominee in history at 98-years-old. In addition, motion picture and TV star, Guy Pearce, is also nominated as Guest Performer for his longtime role as Mike Young in the reboot of Neighbours.
Speaking of Neighbours, the Australian soap opera also received its first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Daytime Drama Series now that its a revival can be streamed on Amazon Freevee. In addition, The Young and the Restless iconic, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) received his first Daytime Emmy nomination in more than 20 years in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

In the Daytime Drama series categories, CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless each scored 12 nominations more than any other show. Leading the acting nominations was B&B, who landed 7 performers in the various categories, a first in its 37-year history.
In a statement, Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS expressed, “We are happy to once again honor the creative talent both in front of and behind the camera of America’s favorite Daytime programs. We look forward to celebrating the icons who enliven the days of audiences across the country.”

The huge popularity of these shows continues to be must-see viewing for their fans.” NATAS also revealed that Lifetime Achievement Honorees, Hosts, Presenters, and Silver and Gold Circle honorees will be revealed at a later date.
The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in television programming honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.
The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be produced once again by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI). Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie executive produces from ATI.

51st Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Nominations
On Thursday, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed nominations in several key categories via four entertainment news programs: Access Hollywood, E! News, Extra and Access Hollywood.
Three of the four announcements were major categories in the field of Daytime Dramas.
The nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category are: The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Neighbours and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital won this category last year, and has the most all-time wins for a series in this category. For the first time, the beloved Australian-based soap opera, Neighbours is now eligible for competition due to its reboot which streams on Amazon Freevee.

The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out in ceremonies in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th.
Previous categories announced tonight via the entertainment news outlet included: Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
