Could It Be That Chandler Massey Has Returned To Days of our Lives?

Speculation, storyline rumors, and a facebook post from Chandler’s Massey’s former PR rep, Jeff Ballard have added fuel to the fire over the last 24 hours that the three-time Daytime Emmy winner is either on his way back to Days of our Lives, or is already taping there.
Massey, who rose to audience and critical acclaim for this emotionally-riveting performances as Will Horton, left the series and was replaced by Guy Wilson. Chandler’s exit from the show at that time was somewhat controversial. In 2013, he had first announced his decision to leave the series and attend college while talking to the press at the Daytime Emmys, but then was rapidly replaced by the series by Wilson. Subsequently, the show decided to “kill off” the character of Will in 2015 as part of the necktie serial killer murders. A move that struck a nerve with the LGBT community and DAYS fans.
But now according to his teaser of a social media, Ballard relates: . “I’ve been getting quite a few calls about this — so for the record — I can neither confirm nor deny that my former client and good friend, three-time Daytime Emmy winning actor Chandler Massey will be returning to his role of Will Horton on Days of our Lives later this year. I guess you will all have to keep watching!!”
Since his initially posting and after seeing more reaction and pick-up from the press, Ballard added: “More of the same about Days of our Lives and Chandler Massey — gotta go with the “they only talk about you if you’re important” thing —” And in another post attached to another outlet’s pick-up of his post, Ballard added, “Apparently the flames have been fanned — or where there’s smoke there’s fire?”
There has also been speculation that fan favorite Freddie Smith is reprising his role as Sonny Kiriakis and will appear later this year, although unconfirmed by Smith, or the show itself.

Wally Kurth Talks on His DAYS Daytime Emmy Nomination, His Emotional Scenes, and Remembering John Aniston
During our 2023 year-end honors at Michael Fairman TV, we named Wally Kurth as our pick for Best Overall Performance by an Actor for his double-turn as both Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Justin Kiriakis on Days of our Lives. So, it was absolutely no surprise to us that Wally landed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his riveting work as a grieving Justin in the Supporting Actor category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
On DAYS, Justin had been put through the emotional wringer, of first, losing his beloved Uncle Vic, played by the late John Aniston, and then finding out that Victor was the supposed biological father to Justin’s son, Alex (Rob Scott Wilson). If you didn’t reach for the hankies during some of Kurth’s work in these scenes, we don’t know what will make you do so.
Michael Fairman TV caught up with Wally to get his reaction to his fourth Daytime Emmy nomination in the last six years. Kurth was nominated in the Supporting category in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 and Lead Actor in 2021.
In addition, Wally shares what scenes were on his nominated reel, how John Aniston impacted his work, how he has changed as an actor over the years with a new outlook, and being the only actor out there with two long-running roles on two long-running soaps, and much more. Here’s what Wally had to share below.
Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. You decided to submit yourself this year for Emmy contention in both Lead Actor for GH and Supporting Actor at DAYS, correct?
WALLY: I did. I thought the DAYS reel was a little more dramatic, much more emotional. I had thought with the way the judging goes that it might be a little bit more, winnable, if you will. I enjoyed and was proud of my work at General Hospital, so it’s all good. I’m thrilled. It’s always nice to be nominated.

What scenes did you ultimately choose for your Supporting Actor reel?
WALLY: I started chronologically, as always, trying to tell a little bit of a story. I actually started with a scene where Justin has to tell Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that Victor’s (the late John Aniston) plane went down and it was not found. Then, the scene with Bonnie (Judi Evans) where I sort of have to let it all out, and grieve the loss of this man who was practically Justin’s father, but it was his Uncle Vic. We have a little scene talking about Victor, and then there is a short snippet at the funeral where Justin eulogizes Victor. Next, we jump to scene where Justin discovers the letter where Angelica admits that indeed Victor is Alex’s father (Rob Scott Wilson). So then, Justin has to tell Alex, and then I also sort of grieve the fact that I’m no longer his father. Justin basically lost his son. It was very dramatic and very emotional. I was guessing the judges would be like, “Hey! Enough with the crying! Stop, you big baby!” But, they didn’t. They must have thought that it was convincing enough that it felt really truthful at how Justin was upset about these two unfortunate realizations.

You bring up a really good point. I talk to actors all the time about crying on Emmy reels. Sometimes, many feel it might put voters off. But obviously, this time it worked well for you!
WALLY: What I liked about the crying scenes was that, like in real life, you’re not crying all the time when something bad is happening, right? I think crying happens and it takes you off guard. It happens without you realizing it. These were all moments when Justin was alone, really. Bonnie comes in the room where Justin is just kind of like dealing with it. And then her coming in, opens up Justin and she is there to hold him. I think that often happens in real life. I thought that was correct for the writers to do that, you know, that Justin would break down when he was alone.

Did you feel the pressure of wanting to get these scenes when Victor died and at his memorial, just right due to the enormity to it, and to do justice for John Aniston?
WALLY: I allowed myself to use my heartbreak over John Aniston. I loved him. I just sort of allowed his presence for me in the scenes. It was sweet. It was good for me. I’m just thinking about it now and I feel teary-eyed. John was such a sweet man. He led by example, and he really did teach me how to be a professional actor, and he was a mentor. He never told me anything specific, but he was just John, and in the scenes, this was the time for me tell him how I feel.

Then, you had the heartbreaking scenes with Rob Scott Wilson where Justin tells Alex he is not his father!
WALLY: I thought that was just really challenging material. As I get older, I just trust the material, and don’t get ahead of myself. I trust myself with the emotion. Just let it happen if it happens. When I first read it, I kind of imagined what it could look like and then you just let it unfold from there.
You’ve got Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), A Martinez (Nardo, The Bay), Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) all in your category. Robert has won two Daytime Emmys in a row, last year for Supporting Actor and the year before for Guest Performer.
WALLY: l love Robert. I worked with the character Marshall on General Hospital, and we had so much fun. He’s a great guy and a really good actor. A Martinez is the best guy ever. I have such admiration for him. Whenever I see him, we always really connect and to be in included with him is great. Bryton James, I don’t know, but I know he beat me in this category in 2020. Mike Manning, I didn’t get the opportunity to know when he was at DAYS as he weren’t in scenes together, but I hear good things about him, too.

When you are judging Emmy reels, what do you look for when you’re voting on a performance?
WALLY: That’s a really great question. And because let’s face it, there’s just a lot of terrific talent in daytime. This year, I judged two categories. I don’t just go with, “Okay, who’s crying the most.” I really try to go with the one who’s touches me the most, who surprises me and moves me. And so, if you go with that, you’re probably going in the right direction. I also think that upfront you do need to kind of give them something in the first couple minutes that shows you know what you’re doing and don’t make it too repetitive.
Who did you first tell you were nominated?
WALLY: My manager, Michael Bruno called me. I was in Chicago with my daughters having a late breakfast and I knew the nominations were going to happen around 11 am Chicago time. I didn’t tell my daughters about what was happening, just in case, I didn’t get nominated. So, when Michael called, I went, “Oh, boy!” I told my daughters who were sitting at the table with me. So, they were the first two people that I could tell, and that was really nice. We had champagne which was really funny because I bought three little glasses of champagne, and as soon as I bought it, we toasted. They said, “We don’t really like champagne.” So, I ended up drinking all three glasses. (Laughs)

What do you think of Eric Martsolf (Brady), your Day Players Band member, and DAYS co-star getting a Lead Actor nomination?
WALLY: I remember, I was like talking to him and I was like, “Eric, are you going to submit yourself?” And he is like, “I don’t know. I don’t really have anything …” And the next thing you know, he’s nominated. I’m like, “Wow! I guess he found something!” (Laughs) I love Eric. I have such respect for him and his gift, and he works really hard. So, I was very happy for him. I’m glad we weren’t in the same category, however.
How many years now have you been playing Justin on DAYS?
WALLY: I started here 37 years ago in 1987. I was there for four years and then I left. Then, 18 years later, Ken Corday (EP, DAYS) invited me back in 2009 and I’ve been on the show now for 15 years. So, I guess a total of 20 years on and off over the last 37 years. Everyone remembers 1987-1991 … those were big, big years for Justin and Adrienne who back then were a supercouple.

Have you determined who you would thank in your acceptance speech if you win this year’s Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy?
WALLY: I feel like this year I kind of have an idea of what I would say. I think I can remember all of that without writing it down. If I had gotten nominated for both shows, I was definitely going to point out and thank the powers-that-be for giving me dual citizenship and how much I appreciate that. I do think that being on both soaps, I will go to my grave believing that it’s made me a better actor. In fact, since I’ve been doing both shows, I’ve been nominated for Daytime Emmys. I’ve become a better actor. I feel like maybe it’s just that I’ve gotten older and wiser, but I feel as though when I go in there to work, I’m really focused and I’m really prepared. I know I pretty much get one shot to get it. We’re in the business of “one takes” now in the soaps.

People are so lucky to even have one enduring role in their careers, but you’ve been able to have two, and they’re completely separate characters on two legacy shows; one which just turned 61, General Hospital, and the other Days of our Lives which will soon celebrate 60 years, as well.
WALLY: I didn’t plan on it. I must have done something right. Back in 2009, Ken called me up and invited me back to DAYS. I really jumped in. I’d been out of work for four or five years. I went back with a whole new attitude about the work, about the genre. In 2004, when I left General Hospital, I was kind of burnt out. Looking back on it, I didn’t have a good attitude and I was just done. I was kind of tired. New writers come in and sometimes, when you have new writers that look at your character differently, it can be very difficult, because you just know that their passion is not with your character. However, in this case, I’m like, “I’m going to take whatever the writers give me and do the best I can and do my job. Let the writers do their job.” I think the writers also know that I really respect them and I’m not going to complain. I’m not going to tell them what to do and I’m going to stay out of it. They have enough to work out. They have enough to do. I’m going to be the problem solver, not the problem creator. There are enough problem creators. Believe me when I tell you that every time I leave those sets, I’m like, “Thank you. I love it. See you the next time I see you.” I know how lucky I am to do both shows and to have this opportunity to act at my age and still be sent scripts. I love the art of acting. I’d do it for free. The fact that they’re paying me and I am able to do this and work with these great, wonderful, talented actors every day, it’s kind of mind-blowing.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot
When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.
In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?
Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.
Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.” Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes
After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.
Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.
“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider, “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.
“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized. “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

I have to say that I do agree with you. While I am glad to see the Will we know best back on the show, it does contradict what Ken Corday said in his interview about characters staying dead when we see them die on-screen. I think it is better to keep the characters on the canvas only because these are people we know better than our own families and it is always fun to watch a character die then come back only to have a far-fetched explanation as to how and why the character didn’t die in the first place. It’s things like that that help us escape from our real-life problems.
I don’t care what Ken said, having Chandler back on the show could only be a good thing. Perhaps Ken has already broken his promise by bringing back Daniel Cosgrove anyway LOL. Not allowing returns from the dead does limit which fan favourites can come back, especially since DOOL killed off half its cast in the last few months!

I think having our gay men in a storyline would be great too, Patrick, seeing as I am gay as well.
I am so torn, James. Yes, Corday did say that….but, as many posters are saying, there were so many little clues to naysay Will died. Sami could have whisked him away. All I can say is that I will overlook all logic, which goes against my ken (lol), just yo have Chandler back.
Yikes—I’m afraid I was in shock when I watched th brutality of Will being strangled that it never hit me to look for any clues as to whether or not Will was actually dead—either way, it’s going to be DAYS at it’s best as it has been for a little while now—the show is really a comfort zone for me to step into.
The only injustice I see, lying aside, is that it kind of lessens the incredible performance by Bryan Datillo’s Lucas (grieving for his dead son) just like it did for Jason Thompson’s Patrick on GH when he mourned Robin and then not 5 minutes later they show her alive. It just isn’t the same when the character truly is dead and buried.
That being said, I think a HUGE injustice was done to the faithful gay viewers not to mention the legions of fans who have watched the character of Will from a baby. So if they can right the wrong of killing of such a legacy character then I think they should. The fact is they can’t change horses in midstream. So it is keep the gay stories or do without them totally. Poor Paul is kind of in limbo these days too.
Who gives a shit, Will needs to stay dead. Please no more gay storylines on Days. Enough of this fluff.

I said several times to upset posters Will isn’t dead…he survived the attack but was in a coma and was in hiding for his own protection…Sami took him away and had had him under care at some clinic..maybe im wrong about some of this but it would be nice if i got the alive part right….this would be Days greatest news if true other than its renewal.
I was hoping for that scenario as well. We never saw Will’s body after Sami and Lucas saw him in the morgue and Sonny never saw him either. The casket was closed and at the end of the funeral show when Sonny went to the cemetery the casket was not there and grass had already been planted and headstone in place. So it is very possible that Will could have been whisked away to some undisclosed place to recover while every
one was under the impression that he died.
Will was kidnapped by the Dimeras, thats what I think. He is alive, I hope I am right. maybe Bo Brady is alive?.
Hey spread the word to try a good shot at getting one live to live back by actually searching for the show in the Netflix search engine the more pings the show gets let’s them now how much people have an interest in a show or movie. Full House was brought back this way. Also you can call Netflix and request one life to live and tell them it has a huge fan base. I called and they have been hearing others ask about this since the online petition which must be sighn along with searching for the show on Netflix spread the word and show the voice and power of the soap fans

I agree with you completely, Chrystie. Will being alive negates the pain we saw Lucas go through. However, Lucas may not have known the truth….he probably thought Will was, indeed, dead at that moment. He could have been told later. Perhaps not many were privy to that fact.
And, could be Sonny is right there, supposedly in Switzerland, not Greece, with Will and Sami. I will even stretch it and say EJ is there too…..for good measure. Lol…later.
DOOL seems to be in damage-control mode, and I’m glad to see it. They never should have killed off Will Horton and angered not just the LGBT community but also longtime fans of the show. They upset all of the Haidan fans (and I wasn’t one of them, but it was a bad move) by firing Daniel Cosgrove. They started to move Hope and Rafe ahead with a kiss that was apparently taped and scooped, but which was then edited out of the episode. There are all sorts of rumors that Dena Higley is gone from DOOL, which makes sense to me if these story decisions were mostly hers. I always liked Chandler, and if he’s returning as Will, I’ll be very happy. As for Ken Corday, if it turns out that Will is alive after all, then he needs to never say again that a character, once dead, is going to stay dead. I didn’t believe him then and I’m going to have a hard time believing anything he says in print going forward.

i started watching dool recently during their 50th anniversary, and for those dool fans i would be happy for them, it looks like this guy was a real talent having won the emmy 3 times, i never saw him so i can’t speak i saw the last guy playing the character and how he was brutally killed off and i know that upset long time fans. so hopefully they will get this character back with the actor everyone seems to favor. although this show needs to get back on schedule like the other shows, i hear casting 5 to 6 months in advance at its a real killjoy to have to wait to see some one come or go. i’m puzzle on how filming so in advance saves them money ? what happen when something isn’t working and its drag out because of their advance schedule? i’m sure they could lower cost but go back to filming 3 weevils out or something i would think it would benefit them more to be able to cut off something not working then to keep it on for half a year.

Please, please let this be true. I hope they somehow find a way to bring Will back. Will and Sonny – and at the end, Paul – were the characters whose story kept me hanging on, even when everything else was boring me to tears. And right now, everything is boring me to tears. After the initial barrage of death and destruction and returns (and exits), the wheels started coming off the car right before Daniel’s death. But in the last two to three weeks, the wheels are fully off the cart with ridiculous stories, boring stores, and non-sensical stories coming at us every day.
While I would hope that this is true and Sonny and Will are coming back full time – if they can’t come back full time, I would like and appreciate a story that would give them a proper, happy ending – even if it ushered them off the canvas (clearly, I’ll take any scraps I can get at this point).
Freddie and Chandler are most likely back because Vincent Irizarry (Deimos) tweeted a picture of Vincent and Judi Evans (Adrienne) together on the Club TBA set. In the background is Freddie and a couple others of which one with his back turned looks to be Chandler.
BTW, Vincent’s tweet was in honor of working with Judi at DAYS after last working with her at Guiding Light 30 years ago. Apparently they played a couple named Beth and Lujack. Do they ring a bell? Did lightning strike back then? Could he same happen with Adrienne and Deimos?
For some time i commented Will was possibly alive…he survived the attack, was in a coma, the funeral staged. he is in hiding for his protection from Ben, Sami had him in a clinic and used Dimera money for his care…hope im right on all of it…Corday said no more back-from-the-dead but my theory what might of happened would make sense.

Is the answer. Similar vibe between Beth-Lujack and Patch-Kayla: Good girl, bad boy; opposites attract; etc. Lots of adventure and drama. Judi and Vincent were dynamite on GL. If they were given story together on Days, I’d have to watch again just to see them in action.

I have posted before about resurrections overused as a plot device. This would disappoint me and sour me some on DAYS. Now, I have no problem with an actor returning as a new character. God knows, forgotten children and dubious parentage are soap tropes we cannot let go. Regardless, Chandler Massey was an excellent Will Horton and his scenes with Freddie Smith were wonderful. Their story had such promise but I am afraid writers and disappointment by many in Massey’s replacement erased all that good. Guess we will see, no?

They could pull a Dallas or St Elsewhere and have the whole murder spree be in Ben’s mind. Especially with Kate Mansi leaving as Abigail it would be a different way to write her off the show. Abby leaves town and that caused Ben to have a mental breakdown and imagine doing all those awful things.

So Ken Corday said characters that are dead stay dead, so the only way this can work is either the character Will did not die and his death was staged for his protection, which might explain the pathetic funeral they had for the character at the time, OR CM is going to be a different character, and if he is playing a different character will that character be gay or straight?
My money is on Will’s death was staged, assuming all these rumors are true. If this was the plan all along then I would be ticked at them for making viewers go through all that trauma for naught. If they are back paddling to correct an error in judgement by killing a legacy character in the first place, then I can excuse the old back from the dead device in this case— and if they are in the mood for fixing mistakes, let Stefano be alive because having Hope murder him was the dumbest idea since killing Will.

I hope Chandler Massey is returns back to the show as Will this year and he’s better than Guy Wilson right after his character, Will was killed off and murdered by his half cousin’s ex-fiance, Ben Weston, who’s the Necktie Killer until he died shortly last year back in October and Will is a legacy gay character on the show.
But the only thing is, we graphically saw Will being strangled to death by
the criminally insane Ben.
It’s not like Will was feared “lost at sea” and found on a deserted Island and it’s not as if his plane went missing “without a trace”.
Then again it’s a soap so who knows, I guess the writers can come up with
whatever they want, but personally the credibility of the show I feel becomes compromised when they clearly depict a death and then retract it.
I would love to see Chandler Massey back at days as Will Horton,but I can’t figure out how that could happen with the way he was killed off.Also I do believe Ken Corday did say that if they died the character would stay dead.

While I did enjoy Chandler in the role of Will Horton, I must admit, I was impartial to Guy Wilson’s portrayal. But, even I must admit, killing the role of Will off was a mistake that should’ve never happened. So I hope that Corday has gone against his dead-stay-dead comments this once, and allows for Will to return.

Well Jim it is not my intention to discourage or disagree with you but we saw the life CHOKED out of him in such a graphic manner we saw him gasp his last breath while Ben mercilessly strangled him – we saw his eyes cross and his breathing ceased.

It’s not as if his car “rolled off a cliff” and exploded but no body was ever recovered. It’s not as if his plane was “feared lost”. It’s not as if he was thought to have drowned at sea. He was strangled in front of our own eyes, much to our chagrin and horror I should add. So now if the writers decide that “guess what, he wasn’t really killed” it kind of causes some of us to watch the show with wary attitude.

If Will is alive and Sami knew and was hiding him, at least that would be one explanation for why she seemed more concerned about finding EJ than the “death” of her son.

There are documented cases of people awakening from comas with their sexuality changed. And amnesia isn’t necessary for that to happen.
Fair enough. If you are talking about traumatic brain injury, yes, you are correct, a person’s sexuality can be altered because for that to happen the brain has to be “rewired.” But I’m not sure that would be a good story choice. Too depressing to think about poor Sonny having to face a Will who’s not attracted to him anymore. And watch Will struggle with that… Days is depressing enough without bringing Will back just for another downer story!
I can only hope. While I really like Chandler, I wouldn’t want to see him back as any other character than Will. Any other character would be like pouring salt in the wound.
I just have to roll my eyes. I’m sorry; I know this is overall a good idea in terms of righting a HUGE mistake.
But how about TPTB stop making these huge, avoidable mistakes (because who, except TPTB, didn’t see that killing Will was a mistake?) and get things right the first time? That way we don’t have to put up with storyline nonsense like whatever it is they’re going to do to get Will back on the canvas?
(As an aside, I’m not sure gay viewers who stopped watching are going to forgive them and come back in droves after the shabby way Will was treated. We shall see. They had better make this REALLY GOOD.)
Was it a huge mistake, Michael? Or was it DAYS’ master to lure Chandler Massey back? DAYS could’ve collected info showing most people didn’t like Guy Wilson and missed Chandler Massey. DAYS already decided not to recast Sonny because they knew the recast Will wasn’t working and Freddie Smith was open to returning. Freddie could’ve agreed on a long-term contract if Will was back in the form of Chandler. DAYS could’ve “killed Will” to force Chandler’s hand.

Chandlers brave performance really resonated with me brought me back to days full time and will again!… these days too much rafe / hope, ava/ patch/ kayla not enough of eric, nicole, jenn!

Nothing against the actor BUT Days is hiring too many right now and the show again losing sight of its core will be unrecognizable. Now Brady is worthless as he morphs into Daniel please have both go away!!!! Our Steve deserves better than to be robbed by writers of his street savy just to promote stories for a couple of women! I hope this is true. I strongly disliked Guy Wilson as Will, but it was a horrible mistake to kill the character. It was senseless and cruel. I’ll gladly buy Will’s resurrection.

But, Will Horton was a crucial character to the show for so many reasons. So, not to enumerate every single one, I will say, as I said over and over before, Will was the only male scion left carrying the Horton name in that age group. Unless Mike Horton has had a male offspring to continue the legacy?

I had no idea Mike had a son, nor that he was married to a Jewish woman. That is irrelevant anyway….I started watching Days only a few years ago, after College. I watched as a little girl with my Gran, but facts are very hazy for me now. I get all my info from her. My grandmother forgot to mention that fact. The only thing she told me was that when Mike was brought back, he was much younger than what he was supposed to have been.So, I guess Jeremy would be able to carry the name.

Is he Will or Will’s twin? Maybe he’s a doppelganger. If he’s Will, will he remember his prior life…his family and Sonny? If he remembers Sonny, will he still have feelings for Sonny or gay feelings in general. Would Will be accepted for his change?
I wouldn’t consider it to be homophobic if someone were to suggest such a storyline or to write one…I would consider it soapy good fun! I also don’t consider it homophobic for DAYS to have “killed Will.”
If Will wasn’t “killed,” then we wouldn’t be going on a new journey that’s about to take place if in fact “Will” does return…If not for the “death/murder,” Chandler Massey may have never entertained the idea of coming back.

Are we sure Will was killed off because he was gay? Or is it just speculation. I hope TPTB were not that short-sighted.
As I always contended, Will was fired because he was/is in the wrong profession. He lacks charisma and savoir faire…not a good actor, in my opinion. However, it was the wrong move to have killed him. He could have been sent away with Sonny and then, after a time, recast.

Often in soaps, nothing is as it seems, much like in real life and behind the scenes at the soaps. DAYS is privy to more information than the viewers, which could’ve been why “Will” was “killed.” It simply could’ve been for future storylines.
As I said higher up, amnesia wouldn’t change your sexual orientation. (Amnesiacs forget facts, but their sexual attraction wouldn’t disappear. Straight people wouldn’t have amnesia and wake up with gay feelings, for example.) BUT to expand on my earlier story idea that someone keeps insisting Will is straight and confusing him, they could convince Sonny that to help Will’s “recovery,” he must not tell Will who he is or about their relationship. Yet Will is drawn to him anyway, and — voila! — you have a love story all over again!
@4ever DAYS: There are plenty of reasons why Will’s killing seemed homophobic and all those reasons have been mentioned on the internet. Thankfully, Days seemed to have realized its mistake. Guy Wilson was not the right actor for the role, but they didn’t need to kill Will.
I wouldn’t consider suggesting a storyline like that homophobic, but it’s not realistic. Amnesia wouldn’t change your sexual orientation. I doubt the show would ever go for a storyline like that. If they’d do an amnesia storyline, they could just have him not remember Sonny. Same story, no mixed messages to the audience.
Of the four remaining soaps, “Days” has demonstrated a particular willingness to trample upon and rewrite character history for the sake of their latest plot line, so if this news is true it wouldn’t surprise me a bit. On the other hand, it could just as easily be a P.R. guy earning his paycheck.

Chandler Massey has an interview appearing in the next Soaps in Depth on stands next Monday. Hopefully this will provide some answers.
I’m not so sure if I really want THIS writing regime to touch (and ruin) the gay characters and storyline any more than they already have. They had an obvious agenda to destroy this epic and historic storyline in the most violent manner from the start and exclude the gays from the big anniversary, so I don’t see them suddenly write for equality. If Will and Sonny don’t come back LONG-TERM and in a true FRONTBURNER storyline like in 2013-14, when Days hit this decade’s best ratings, I’d rather not want Griffail to even touch them. We don’t need a short-term appearance or some kind of fake “closure” only to send them away AGAIN. Sadly, Freddie Smith has obviously moved on from Days and from what we know, it’s not very like that he’s going to stay long-term. So, if Days was really serious about bringing Will and Sonny back, they would have recast Sonny. There are many great young actors out there who’d make a perfect new version of WilSon. We want them front and center of the strory, where they belong, and for good!
Ditto. Even under the previous writing team, it was disappointing to see Chandler bring this character to life, and then right at the zenith of the character’s development, the writers shoved the character to the back burner.
Chandler’s talents often were wasted on mundane drivel, while overlooking the smörgåsbord of potentially interesting and meaningful story lines available. This appeared to be a direct result of the negative viewer reaction to one very-brief, very-chaste dream sequence showing Will and Sonny in the shower.
I’m totally in favor of the story ideas others have presented here.
Additionally, I dearly would like to like to see a Will & Sonny Remarriage Ceremony – only this time done correctly, the way it should have been done right the first time, with Chandler.
If Chandler returns, then I will start watching Days again.
In my mind, I have chosen to believe that the entire recast was just a bad nightmare that Chandler’s Will had on the airplane while traveling to Paris, where he now is living a perfect life with Sonny and Ariana.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him come back,but geez why say he is dead if he wasn’t going to stay dead,Hey I know someone stolled his body from the funeral then help bring him back to life. if I can recall we never did see him in a coffin the coffin was closed wasn’t it… Or maybe maybe the whole thing about Will being dead was a set up by the poiice in order to catch Ben who knows,stranger things have happened before..I do remember to at first Sami didn’t show much of any emotions even her mom said that too,she needed to cry.Well where there is a Will there is a way lol
