‘Dancing with the Stars’ Waltzes its Way Back to ABC

In a surprise turn of events, the long-running celebrity dance ballroom competition, Dancing with the Stars, is returning to ABC following its one-year detour to the streaming platform Disney+.

According to Vulture who broke the news, the Disney powers-that-be have decided it makes more sense to meet audiences needs wherever they are.

Therefore, moving forward for its 32nd season, DWTS will air live on the ABC network and continue to stream live on Disney+.

With Bob Iger back in charge at Disney, the business units are determining how content gets distributed, and they feel the show belongs at ABC.

Previously, DWTS was the first live series to debut on Disney+ and the first live streaming reality show in the U.S.

Now, with Julianne Hough set to be the new co-host joining Alfonso Ribiero, looks like there are several other changes underway, including that this will be the first season without former head judge, Len Goodman, who decided to leave the show after last season and recently passed away.

Last season’s Mirror Ball Trophy winners were Mark Ballas and Charli D’Amelio.  Who might compete this year? Time will tell.

So, what do you think of Dancing with the Stars returning to network TV? Will it make you watch the new season? Comment below.

Hilarious. Guess the move to exclusively stream did not work out in their favour for the long-term.

I’m so happy about this change. I was hoping for this to happen

YESSSSSSSSS! Can’t wait! I missed it being on ABC!

smart news abc because i don’t know what demo you thought you were reaching on disney plus and with tyrA gone and julianne in that seat it’s a smart move for the network sadly len goodman is gone but this is a smart move for abc

Yes will watch. Hated streaming and glad Tyra is gone.

I am thrilled this is moving back to ABC! Didn’t watch it last season – did not like the host, and didn’t want to subscribe to Disney+. I am excited to watch again with Julianne Hough co-hosting the show. Yay!

Yes I’m back watching Dancing.

I will watch once again since they have new hosts and have moved back to ABC. Hopefully they will have great contestants also.

Excited to see it back on ABC! Hope the celebrity contestants are folks I am familiar with!

Sooooo excited DWTS is returning to ABC!! Love that series! Would not watch it when Tyra Banks was on (she was horrible!!!) let alone pay for it when it went to Disney.

I’m so happy. Missed it. But not pay for it. Thanks for bringing it back.

Now that it is back on abc and Tyra is gone I will watch it.

AGREE!

So glad it’s coming back home where it belongs. Thank You ABC. Missed you guys.

Wonderful news. Thank you!!!!

Smart Move! Too bad they moved to begin with. I’m sure they lost a lot of viewers. Will miss Len Goodman. R.I.P. Hopefully he is dancing in the heavens.

Yes, can’t wait. I hope it’s true because I canceled Disney+, it wasn’t worth it to watch one show.

Yay, time these networks listen to their audience. So glad it’s back where it belongs on ABC network

I am extremely happy that Dancing With The Stars is returning to ABC as it is only right that we who don’t watch Disney + at least still get the opportunity to watch what we’ve been watching for years as before.

Yes, I am so glad he’s coming back to the regular TV. I missed last year because I don’t get Disney+.

Yes I will start watching it again.

Will definitely watch it again now that it’s back on ABC

I am glad. I have Disney + but I still like it better on ABC…

I’m very happy it I returning to ABC. I love the show and couldn’t watch it last season. Thank you for bringing it back where it belongs

They forgot about the rest of us not into streaming. I will probably watch again.

This makes me happy…I missed seeing it.

So glad Dancing With the Stars is going back to ABC. We are retired and live on our SS..can’t afford all those $ stations. DWTS is a favorite program.

Definitely a good move, not everyone can afford to get the Disney Channel.

So happy Dancing with the Stars is returning to ABC ! Some people couldn’t afford the extra price of Disney +. I throughly enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars!

VERY HAPPY!!! YES I WILL WATCH NOW.

I will watch it again because Julianne is co-hosting. I have not watched it since Tom was fired. A very bad move

It is about time DWTS returns to ABC. I have watched that show from the very first , loved it but don’t have the Disney
channel and Iam too old for learning how to stream.
Thank you for giving us back something worth watching.
So sad Lynn Goodman will not be with us but would bet he would be glad to be back on ABC.

So glad to hear DWTS is returning to ABC!! I do not have streaming on Disney so was really upset to not be able to watch this show I always loved@

Absolutely!!! Thank G-d!!!!

Yes yes yes. Thank you for moving back to ABC & getting rid of Tyra!

Am so happy. Being on a limited income, couldn’t afford it.

Oh, yeah! And glad Tyra is gone. She was a distraction, wore unflattering costumes and was not very good.

Have not watched since Tom left, didn’t care for the new hosts, guests or anything else. Will miss Len of course but will give it another try. Have not really seen much of Alphonso since his days so long ago on Silver Spoons. I knew he had talent then.

ABC/Disney Upfronts: ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 35 Adds ‘Savannah Bananas’ Jackson Olson, ‘The Bachelor’ Franchise Spin-Offs Not on Fall Schedule

On Tuesday, May 12 at the ABC/Disney Upfronts, there were several headlines coming out of it for the upcoming 2026-2027 television and streaming season.

First, Savannah Bananas second baseman Jackson Olson will be taking some swings on the ballroom dance floor when he joins other celebrities already locked in for Dancing with the Stars season 34.

Olson will join already confirmed reality stars: Maura Higgins (The Traitors and Love Island) and Ciara Miller (Summer House). The full cast list and their pro partners will be announced on September 2nd.

SAVANNAH BANANAS COME TO DISNEY+

The news of Olson who has also become a social media influencer, comes out of the Disney upfront that also revealed that Disney+ will become the exclusive home of the Banana Bowl streaming live this October, hence the tie-in.

The Banana Bowl will feature the top teams in the Banana Ball league facing off for the season championship. Known for blending athleticism with entertainment, the game will include one of the biggest performances the league has ever seen, bringing together all six teams, along with its signature on-field showmanship.

NO BACHELOR FRANCHISE THIS FALL

Meanwhile, ABC revealed that a new season for the troubled The Bachelor franchise offshoots is not on the fall schedule where they usual place: The Bachelorette, The Golden Bachelor or Golden Bachelortte are no where to be found. This is the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic that there will be no Bachelor-branded series on ABC’s fall schedule.

Photo: ABC

The Bachelor will return as usual in the midseason in 2027, Grant Ellis was the lead as the man looking for love and vying for a woman’s heart in 2025.

All this, amid the turmoil surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette being pulled and currently never seeing the light of day after the domestic violence surfaced with her throwing a chair towards the direction of her child, while she got into a melee with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

Ari Goldman, SVP, Content Strategy and Scheduling said of removing The Bachelor from the new season ABC lineup, “We’ve had to take a look at just managing the franchise properly. These shows have enormous fan bases, and we were so thrilled the year that we were able to launch Golden Bachelor and have it stand out in that fall season the way that it did. But I think that the usual cadence that we like to find ourselves in is really the flagship series in midseason and then having some summer edition, which we have already locked in on Bachelor of Paradise for next season. So this is more of a return to a steady state on the franchise.”

So, what do you think about Jackson Olson from the Savannah Bananas joining the new season of Dancing with the Stars? Do you like how the show is making efforts to cast social media influencers and talents with a mass number of followers to draw eyeballs to the reality-competition series? Meanwhile, are you for or against even The Bachelor coming back in 2027, or do you think its time to rest the entire concept all of its spin-offs for good?
