Daniel Hall Cast as Y&R's New Scott Grainger!

Photo: IMDB
Lauren’s s0n (Tracey E. Bregman) is coming back to the canvas and Genoa City on The Young and the Restless!
In an exciting move by head writer Sally Sussman, Scott Grainger (the son of Lauren and Dr. Scott Grainger Sr. – formerly played by Peter Barton) is now being played by actor Daniel Hall.
The character of Scott Jr. was last seen on the soap opera back in 2006 when the character moved back to Toronto.
Scott was last played in the young adult version by Blair Redford. According to Soap Opera Digest who broke this casting news, Hall has already began taping scenes in a top secret storyline.
His previous credits include as stint on Guiding Light, as well as performances on primetime’s Mad Men, Graceland, and Quarry.
So intrigued that Scott Grainger is back on Y&R in the form of Daniel Hall? What will this mean for Lauren? Who will Scott’s love interest be? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section below.
I forgot she had another son!! Still remember Fenmore.
Wow! He looks like Poldark, Aidan Turner!
HE DOES! Not that I have ever watched that series but I heard great things.
It’s fantastic. If you have OnDemand see if you can catch up. It’s worth it!
I was kidding. I am obsessed with Poldark!
Hmph! How would I know that???!!! LOL!
But can he scythe, Addison?????
Such a young Mom with an adult son! Unbelieavable!
Well, she is 53. A great looking 53 but still….
IRL Tracey has a 25-year-old son.
Not so young, Kalle. Amelia Heinle has a 21-year-old son. She’s only 43, so…….
Amelia will turn 44 in 2 days, she was born March 17, 1973 🙂 She has son named August, from her first marriage to Michael Weatherly. She was 22 when she got married, she was 23 when her son was born and she was 24 when they got divorced 🙁
Top secret storyline? I can only hope that means it involves the return of either Sheila Carter or Drucilla Winters…
SHEILA PLEASE!!!!!
No thank you to Shelia!!! She’s had more returns than Macy’s.
Didn’t Sheila most recently have plastic surgery to look like Michelle Stafford? lol. Phyllis?
No! No more Shelia. Anyway, I thought they killed her off.
Terrific news,. Alan yes I agree with you time to bring back Sheila Carter, Drucilla Winters and Nina Webster. That would make my day.
I agree, Claudio. But, how will they manage to bring Sheila back?
I can understand bringing back Drucilla and make it plausible and credible. She went over that infamous cliff ( I wonder if it is the same fatalistic cliff from which Hilary toppled? LOL), buther body was never retrieved.
I would love having Nina back, with both her sons, my friend!!!! If only…..
Something very curious, Claudio….I was watching a rerun of ‘Diagnosis Murder’ and coincidentally “Sheila”/Kimberlin was the guest-star, interacting with ‘ Drucilla’/Victoria.
I had almost forgotten what incredible talents they both are!!!!
That would be a dream come true!
Sheila died a few times in Y & R and again in Bold & Beautiful. Drucilla would probably have to be a recast as the one who played her is suing Y & R.
This better mean that Sheila is coming back. For one thing, I still think her supposed demise was horse picket since she and Lauren would have had the catfight to end all catfights. Getting shot came across as lame. Let’s not forget Daisy got out of the institution because her “mother” got her out. That told me back then Sheila is still around. Maria Arena Bell was going to bring Kimberlin Brown back but she got fired before that story could be told so when Jill Darren Phelps came on, she scrapped Maria’s stories. It’s time we got closure to the Sheila/Lauren story the right way.
I do NOT want Shelia back.
Sheila would have to be a recast to since she ended up on the wrong side of Hollywood’d “Wall!”
Timm, I do not want Shelia back period, it has nothing to do with the actress who plays her but more to do with boring redundancy. I was not a Shelia fan and this feeling of mine started long before her RNC appearance.
NO, to Sheila! She has out lived all of her nine lives. I never enjoyed her.
One of the things I most hated about this character is that Lauren seemed to have no story if Sheila was not tormenting her.
Lauren has made a glorious come back and she’s done it all on her own and it has nothing to do with Shelia or with a man.
In the spirit of the late and great Mary Tyler Moore, I will say that “she just might make it after all.”
Nice looking man! Is he for Phyllis or Sharon?
Can they re-cast Chance next? Genoa City should have a living Phillip Chancellor, and another guy , a touch younger than Scotty will be. Chance could be paired with Hillary to annoy Jill & Devon, or Chloe, Abby, Summer, Chelsea, or Mariah.
I agree he is a good looking guy but I think he should get his hair trimmed a bit. I think the guy who plays Victoria’s son Reed is good looking as well but I guess the longer hair is in style. I would just like to see a little more of the face. JMO
At least Reed is the right age, but this guy doesn’t look any younger than Lauren.’ Couldn’t find his age anywhere, his best kept secret.
Phyllis and Sharon have daughters old enough for him. Maybe Abby, Summer, Hillary, Lily, Chelsea or, Mariah.
No please it looks like Summer may be on a vacation or busy with her other show. Please let her stay there.
Please do not even whisper the dreaded name of “summer” because I never want to see her again in GC… Scott looks like he is a tad older than Billy, Daniel and Kevin so he is probably age appropriate for Lauren who was a young first time mother… Lauren is only a tad older than Phyllis… I would love to see Scott with Mariiah A at least for a while!
I agree, He looks as old as Lauren and I voul not find his age. Please let Summer stay whereever she is. I would like to ser Frucilla come back and jookup with Neil. Neil needs a storyline.
great to see some old characters coming back to life and the family tress getting there leaves back,
ive hated how y and r over the years has forgotton so much hystory,,
would love philip to return to the show and have the gay storyline written well and informative ,,,they past regimes really played and ruined storyline hystory , it would be great tohave the new team flush this character out,,,,maybe philip and scotty the next super couple,,,just saying
Phillip and Scotty are related; Phillip is Jill’s son and Scotty is Jill’s nephew, so they’re cousins. They can’t be paired romantically
yes but apparently they are un doing jill being a fenmore
They should write that story then, because watching the connection be ignored on screen is frustrating in this Fenmore story. The last story was that Jill owns 50% of Fenmores and is Lauren’s sister. Noe Lauren’s in this huge crisis and not speaking to, or mentioning, Jill at all. How stupid.
Has anyone else noticed that for the last year or so Victoria has been picking up the same stuffed animals in her living room?
Toddlers do not play with stuffed animals, they sleep with them.
What she should be picking up are Leggos, dolls, games, etc….
It is great, Feeling Randy, however, there is an influx of male characters and not enough female characters.
GC is turning into Alaska as far as the male/female ratio is concerned.
Wow good news who was is father and I just cant recall
His father was Scott Grainger, Cricket’s half-brother. After the whole baby switch, Scott was diagnosed with a terminal illness but before he died he revealed to Lauren that he’d known Sheila Carter hadn’t died in the farmhouse fire and begged Lauren to give Sheila a second chance and move on with her own life.
Nice. Always like seeing returns with ties to legacy characters. After being banished by Chuck Pratt, it’s great to see Lauren being featured again. I’m enjoying her business story and her mixing it up with Phyllis, Jack, and Gloria.
New many for Phyllis? LOL
Looking forward to Scott coming back to Genoa City.
Go figure! Hiring a legacy character with ties to the canvas and ripe with potential!! That hasnt been done so long on soaps I forgot how good it felt!! Keep up the good work Sally!!
Okay good but where are the Chancelors? THAT along with the Newmans and Abbotts are the heartbeat. Now, I love Michael and Lauren but we need the core back. Jeanne died but the others are still floating out there. Bring back the original Tucker, start a love triangle between him, Jill and Colin. Oh, and have Tucker put Devon over his knee and whoop his azz!
I agree, I think Tucker should be recast and brought back. I would also like to see Brock back in town, and maybe Michael E. Knight can return to the show and play him. That would be a real treat.
It would also be nice to see Chance, Mac, Daniel and Heather back. The 20-30 age group needs to be buffed up. I wouldn’t mind seeing Hilary kick the can, she’s hard to tolerate, and Devon needs to be saved from what’s been done to his character.
I know that Beau Kazer( Brock) died, Jimmy. But, I’m not sure if Brock, the character died, as well. Did he? I think he did because I remember Mac being heartbroken. I was so young, I may be wrong.
But, I would love to have him and his daughter back. However, I will only welcome the original Mac, Ashley Bashioum.
Erika Slezak should come back as Katherine’s long lost younger sister….or sister-in-law. She could perhaps play Phil Chancellor’s long lost younger sister coming to town to claim to what she thinks is rightfully hers. I would love to see her battle Jill and Ester in the Chancellor mansion.
From your keyboard to Sally’s ear PLEASE!
You got it, Timmmy. To me, Mac will always be the rightful heiress.
Catherine must be rolling in her grave, non-stop, knowing that her billions are being wasted on this weakling, Devon.
Never trust a femme fatale with your money…. My father’s philosophy, that is. LOL.
That’s exactly what Devon did. “Divan” is something on which we sit. When I see Devon, I automatically think of a sofa.
An uncomfortable sofa!
Great! Y&R is going from strength to strength. Good move!
How old is Scott?
I didn’t watch when the character was previously on.
Considering they SORAS’d the character, Scotty would be in about the same age group of Chloe/Kevin/Mariah/Devon/Hilary.
I don’t think that Chloe and Kevin are in the same age group as Mariah, Devon and Hilary, Jimmy. I know Mariah is only in her mid-twenies, or so.
Chloe and Kevin are hitting 40.
Scotty is supposedly 33—-
Sometimes the chronological order of the characters’ ages makes no sense. It’s a soap!!!!
Sorry. I do believe I misspoke. Scotty was born in 1991. But, as I said, age becomes irrelevant in soaps.
To be honest, I forgot Lauren had this son!!! See what all the crazy years have done to our Genoa City families. So mixed up and scattered! I like that Lauren’s place in town is more secure and focused. Miss Bregman has been a treat to watch as Lauren (even when the plot lines do her no favors) for many years. And this character has an aunt in Christine Williams. Maybe we can see some friendships grow among Scott, Noah, and other young guns. Also, I wonder if this the focus on Fenmore will lead to correction of the wrongheaded plot that made Lauren and Jill sisters.
Y&R is making some positive moves and I find myself watching more and watching more thoughtfully.
Wow, this casting was a bit of a surprise. I had no idea that the show was even considering bringing Lauren’s son back after 11 years.
Is this for a long term role?
If not, who cares who his “love interest” will be?
Since I wasn’t watching when this character was around before, I don’t know if I am interested in him or not!
This actor does look a little old to be Lauren’s son.
This is Awesome News! I’m LOVING Y&R with the new writing regime. The respect to the shows history is amazing. Bringing this character back to the canvas will open so many opportunities. I wish they would consider bringing the character of “Ronan” (Jeff Branson) back for “Phyllis” (Gina Tognoni). Just a thought.
This is wonderful news, lets hope he can act. The long hair needs to go, but he is a good looking man.
LOL. Not to be confused with me, Rebecca1…I LOVE long hair on guys!
I was gonna say! Thanks for the clarification Rebecca 1!
LOL…you know me too well…Addison. Ahem.
Finally some LGBT storyline?
Wow great news!!! Is Sheila on her way back?
HERE COMES SHEILA!!!!!
OMG How many times can Sheila die?
I think he could be a potential love interest for Mariah… depending on age, maybe.
OH, I am loving this idea/
I’ve only been watching 10 or 12 years.
Can someone tell me who Lauren has been married to and who her children are? I know of two. Scott and Fenn.
Thank you!
Hi, Mark,
I haven’t watched for much more than you have, Mark. Half my life, actually, LOL.
But, from what I heard, Lauren was a naughty girl…
I know she was married to Paul Williams? She also married Scott’s father twice and now Michael. There may have been other marriages, but my grandmother does not believe so, albeit she has had a trillion and a half affairs, ( not my grandmother; Lauren). LOL.
Those are her only kids. Lauren was a big ho. Scott…Paul…Danny….Jack…Brad…Eric Forrester…I know I am missing at least one.
Then there were those twins….Rush and Johnny….played by Anthony Addabbo who recently passed away. Then there was that psycho Shawn…cant remember if Lauren actuslly spresd for him. And her bartender boink Carmine. Wow Lauren…..she needs to settle her kettle!!
When they brought Daniel back a few months ago I loved seeing him with Mariah. I was hoping he’d stick around. Being Kevin’s best friend I think it would have been so interesting to see Kevin’s reaction. As for Scott I hope he’s paired with Mariah. She really needs a relationship.
Yes, Nikki. I liked Mariah and Daniel together, as well.
This guy is really good-looking. Who will be his love interest? It’s not as if there’s that much of a choice. LOL.
Now, more intersestingly is the return of Dylan. I was under the impression, this would have been it…..but, here he is.
So, he will leave incognito….get plastic surgery to erase any trace of Dylan/Derek and return when the time is right ( that is, if this character will still be visible). Will Sharon go with him?
Viable, not visible.
I hope they bomb the coffee shop with him, Hillary, Summer, Fake Red , Fake Billy, Devon and Cane in it!
@Ghlover.
Huh? What possibilities. From where I’m standing, you only give one possibility. Make Reed gay. Sure it’s possible, but I’m with Jenny: why?
Never cared for Daniel BUT him and Mariah hit it off and I was hoping he would reconsider and stay!
They could team him up with Noah who has has dismal luck in the love department…
Yea, what ever happened to his little Latin seniorita? Can’t remember her name.
Please, Sally, let this be an LGBT story line revolving around Scott. I had so hoped when Reed was brought back that he was going to be gay. What is Y&R’s hangup with this? It is 2017, and your gay fans are waiting to see Genoa City reflect the real world. If anyone can write a poignant, powerhouse gay story, it’s Sally.
Y&R is #1. They dont have to appease fans, they have to appease sponsors. Not saying its right, just reporting how the network feels. They are still afraid of losing the grandmas and highly religious folks.
A well done coming out story for Reed isnstill very possible. Well done, it could reach all different people. Religious parents have gay children too you know. They might like to see how Victoria would handle this. Would she be supportive? Would she be angry at her son ? At herself, for her reaction? Would Billy be able to bring them together? How would Victor react? You see… so many possible things
Reed was just seen making out with a blonde girl! Quit trying to make a straight 15 year old gay!! Go to OutTV or cable or internet porn for that. And no I am not homophobic. Let us not forget that Adam did some pitching back in the day! Make Aram gay and really rock the show!
Oh, Jenny…..I am not homophobic either……I have talked about Adam pretending to be gay, ad nauseam. It was a bust.
Besides, I don’t think Y&R wants to go there, again. They tried with Rafe, remember? I really liked that character. But, the storyline fizzled and he disappeared.
I DONT care what anyone chooses to do with their love life BUT come on, the kid is fifteen Chad! SOME guys who watch Y&R watch it for the wrong reason! Justin Hartley is super hot BUT he is not gay, watch the damn show for the character and the story line!
I hope this means Kimberlin Brown is coming back, I love Sheila’s stories!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

To mark the occasion, the cast, crew and creative team of General Hospital celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony on the Prospect Studios lot in Los Angeles back on Monday, June 1, 2026.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?
The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
