David Lago, Kelly Kruger & Lauren Woodland Back To Y&R For Series 45th Anniversary!

More “blast from the past” returns from The Young and the Restless.
As part of Y&R’s 45th anniversary week beginning on March 26, look for none other than David Scott Lago (ex-Raul) and Kelly Kruger (ex-Mac), plus Lauren Woodland (Ex-Brittany) to be part of the on-screen celebration.
Lago won a Daytime Emmy for his role and was with the show from 1999-2004 and then once more in 2009.
Kruger played Mac from 2002-2003. Both characters have connection to J.T. (Thad Luckinbill).

As for Woodland, she played Brittany Hodges from 2002-2005 and left the series after her on-screen hubby, Bobby Marsino (John Enos) was killed in an accident.

So excited to see Raul, Mac and Brittany on your screens again? Comment below!
I want real Mac, Ashley Bashioum!!!
I think she’s a doctor now, but I would have been so excited to see her onscreen again.
Mac was Katharine’s granddaughter? What were her big stories?
She was apart of the “Glo by Jabot” storyline and the teen scene with JT, Raul, etc. And then her return in 2008 was a major happening at the time, despite the awful writing.
Hi, Mark Y,
Other than Michelle Stafford ( Phyllis) , Ashley Bashioum was my favorite actress on Y&R….it was a time of ‘growing up’ for me…..I did grow up watching this show, LOL.
Mac played an important role, not only as Katherine’s granddaughter, but also in the way the found each other.
Mac’s dad was, actually, the apple of Katherine’s eye…but, was some kind of missionary and only visited GC once in a blue moon.
Trust me, read up on the back-history….you won’t regret it.
Mac was also involved with Billy….truly loved each other, but through lies and misconceptions, Katherine and Jill thought they were mother and daughter, at the time….so, poof went their relationship….by the time they realized they were not related by blood, their love had fizzled….
I miss those days so much….stars in my eyes….
No big, big stories, per se ( The Young And The Restless), yet she was instrumental to the ‘YOUNG’ scene of Genoa City and all that goes with it. She was also credited for bringing joy to Katherine’s life, as she had no grandchildren……’Tis my misfortune Devon showed up. HaHa.
The rest is history…LOL.
Mac fell in love with Billy Abbott played by David Tom at the time. They eventually married but divorced when they realized that Mac and Billy were blood relatives through Katherine’s son Brock.
Inwas just about to type your exact words, Leila…..I want Ashley….not the same. No one else will do!!
I was…correction.
@Cathy.
Thanks, Cathy….you have a better recollection than I, LOL.
I had forgotten Billy and Mac were once married. Supposedly, at the time, Brock and Jill were half siblings…..until they were not, LOL.
So what is the occasion that brings all these Ex-Y&Rers back?
If you read the article, you’d know: it’s for the 45th anniversary celebration of The Young and the Restless.
I did read the article Scott. I understand it’s fir the anniversary of the show. But what is happening in story to bring at least six former characters back is screen? A funeral? A wedding?
That has yet to be divulged, likely due to keeping spoilers out of the press. But, based on social media, it seems to be some kind of celebration of sorts.
I”m reading on line its for JT’s funeral.
OK…here it is…
1. David Lago (Raul)…TOTALLY!!!!!
2. Lauren Woodland (Brittany)…HELL YEAH!!!!!
3. Kelly Kruger…NO THANK YOU!!!!!
4. I am SUPER EXCITED about Meg Bennett (Julia) returning to Y&R for the 45th Anniversary…YAY!!!!!
5. Most of all, BRING TRICIA CAST (Nina) BACK for the celebration!!!!!
Later.
Agree with your list and comments, Jay…
Brittany? Bad girl, LOL….nasty, nasty, meanie…DOUBLE LOL.
Kruger? Nah….I am assuming Mac is coming to cause a little stir for JT and Victoria?….not in a bad way, since Mac was always a good person. I only wish it could have been Ashley ( the original).
You know what would please me more than anything, Jay?….if some kind of clause/glitch was found in Katherine’s will. Devon should have really gotten one dollar, not all those other zeros attached to it.
Mac should have been the heiress.
Later, my friend.
I’m with you, Celia! Mac should have inherited it all!
@Ron.
Hey, Ron,
Even after all this time, the fact that Katherine left all that money to Devon, still rankles and festers. ….especially because Katherine had legally adopted Mac, so to keep Amanda’s ( Mac’s mother) rapacious hands from Mac.
I guess it’s because I never understood the reasoning behind it. Katherine was head over heals ‘in adoration’ with Mac.
The only thing with which I can reconcile myself is the fact that Katherine felt guilty for having given her son Tucker away? And, she made amends by endowing Devon with the bulk of her fortune?
Perhaps, my feeling this way is coming from my subconscience—could it be I have heard this from Katherine herself?
You know what would really please me, Jay? ….for Mac to take up with Billy—reacquaint themselves with what they once had. Won’t that collapse Phyllis’ house of sticks!….a huff and a puff, that’s all it’ll take.
Where is Ashley Bashioum??? She was the REAL Mackenzie that everyone loved. Sorry but Kelly Kruger was awful. Never liked her or Clementine Ford.
They should’ve called up Ashley Bashioum. And if Ashley wasn’t available, Rachel Kimsey for second choice.
Kruger was likely called in because of her real-life relationship with Darin Brooks, who is Wyatt on The Bold and the Beautiful. She is a fine actress and will do great in the role once again!
Mac should be back. What about her kids?
I’m loving this right now. So many familiar faces and the characters that they once portrayed. It’s fantastic. I get the upset about Kelly Kruger being Mackenzie, however, she was my favourite actress in the role, despite my dislike for the role of Mackenzie as a whole. This is going to be a beautiful celebration and I’m hoping that some of these returns are more than guest spots, and might lead to long-term returning stories. Thank you, Mal Young, for doing this for us!
I also find it laughable that **some** fans are claiming these recently-announced returned characters aren’t “important” or “fan favorites” because they’ve never heard or seen them. Learn your history before you make yourself high and mighty, because all of these characters are rooted in the history of The Young and the Restless, and I cannot wait to celebrate its 45th birthday!
This makes me wonder if indeed JT is dying? They all came back for a funeral? I hope one of them asks Billy why he is sleeping with the chaperone of Glow by Jabot Ms. Phyllis !
It definitely is not for a funeral, that’s for certain.
HaHa…too funny, Kay….Billy should be twenty-five, yes? Phyllis should be in her early fifties…Daniel was born when she was working for a DNA lab in NYC. She was all about getting and trapping rock star Danny Romalotti….and she did. She lied about Daniel’s paternity and sank her claws and fangs into him.
Chronologically, the ages are all WRONG!! Phyllis stopped aging untill Billy caught up to her. LOL.
So, yeah….Phyllis was Billy’s, Mac’s, Brittany’s, Colleen’s etc. chaperon at most events. Ha!
Too bad they don’t bring back Tom Bierdz for a day or two as Phillip Chancellor II,and even the guy who played his son (and left the show to go into the militar). Phillip II could come back from Australia and reconnect in a bro-pal way with Cane, and perhaps give him some advice and support. Also we learn that he and Nina have become great friends, that she visits him frequently down under and has even written a book set in Australia (perhaps loosely resembling Phillip II”s story and how he and Cane became friends there).

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
