General Hospital has recast the role of Sonny and Alexis’ daughter, Kristina, with Daytime Emmy-winner, Kate Mansi (ex-Abigail, Days of our Lives).

Mansi will take over the role on-screen beginning the week of May 22nd.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the actress is currently taping scenes and episodes at the GH studios.

Kristina’s previous portrayer, Daytime Emmy-winner, Lexi Ainsworth, who played the role on and off since 2009, last aired on April 27th.

As for Kate Mansi, she began her daytime run as Days Abigail Deveraux from 2011 and stayed with the show till 2016.  She later returned to the part from 2018-2020.  She was replaced by Marci Miller both times during her departures from the show.

Now the question becomes, with Kate Mansi in the role of Kristina, what will become of the character?  Will we see a different side of her? Who might she become romantically linked with? Share your thoughts on this casting news via the comment section below.

While I am gutted for Lexi Ainsworth⏤who I’ve only liked since her return in 2015⏤I cannot hide my excitement at Kate Mansi being cast in the role, especially since I never saw Mansi returning to daytime, especially on another soap opera outside of DAYS OF OUR LIVES. There is contention for this casting: was Ainsworth unavailable, fired, etc. but it’s my belief they’ve wanted Kristina around for a while, and Ainsworth has been unavailable while seemingly being in Europe, and when she’s back in Los Angeles she is openly available, and comes to play. And you don’t temporarily recast a role with a major name like this, and not state it’s temporary! I’m wishing Mansi luck in the role and have hopes this could mean more Kristina Davis in the coming months!

Now… produce a new cast shoot so we can get new images of Mansi, ASAP! And let’s get Kristina, the superior Davis daughter, back at the forefront.

I like both actresses but favor Kate whom I understand will be carrying her sisters baby. That should be quite a story.

I agree Scott, Kristina is superior! Helena can come pick up Molly and Alexis and take them to the basement of Cassadine island and stay there!

Wow! Very interesting!! I can see her as Kristina.

I loved Lexi in the role of Kristina. I think Kate looks too old for the role; she almost looks like a peer of Sam’s.

agree…They aged Kristina with LM and she didn’t even last a whole year before bringing Lexi back. Frank is making a big mistake…but Lexi deserves better treatment and she will have it.

I agree. I wish Lexi all the best if leaving was her choice but if it wasn’t it will be very difficult to accept another actress in the role.

Agreed! You can see Lexi’s response on her IG

I loved Lexi as Kristina; no news on why she was recast? And if Kate left DAYS several times because she didn’t want to be tied down to daytime soaps, I don’t see how GH is banking on her sticking around. Also looks too mature for the role; more like Sam’s age rather than Kristina. Interesting and surprising.

Kate Mansi is 5 years old than Lexi but still younger than Kelly Monaco so it works age wise. That said, the Davis Girls actresses are a pretty tight group. Also, Lexi is the only one who had chemistry with Maurice Bernard. It should be interesting

Love Lexi Ainsworth and so disappointed for her!!

I thought we were told Lexi was given a bigger part on the show. Now she is gone. Confused.

They said story was coming up for Kristina – not necessarily who plays her.

Why??? Lexi was fabulous and had such a great connection with everyone. Was it Lexi’s choice to leave?

Don’t know about this one….

For one thing, they tried a Kristina recast before and it was a complete failure. Then they brought Lexi back and have failed to write for her ever since, which is probably why she’s leaving.

As for Kate Mansi, she was good on Days. Until she got bored with it and wanted out. Then wanted back in. And created that whole “musical chairs” scenario with Marci Miller where you didn’t know which one it was going to be from one year to the next. Then suddenly neither one was available, so they slaughtered the character and implied that she wasn’t somehow eligible for the “Rolf Zombie potion” treatment, even though she was a DiMera by marriage.

Kate does look passable as the sister of Sam & Molly and the daughter of Alexis and Sonny, so she’s got that much in her favor, I guess. Not going to say I’m not going to be a little pissed off if they’re suddenly willing to write for her, when they wouldn’t write for Lexi though.

Have they lost their ever-effing minds recasting Kristina?!?!?!?! There better be a good explanation for this like Lexi not wanting to continue or having a major conflict. Lexi IS Kristina! She looks like a Davis girl! Fans have been with Lexi for YEARS! Lexi has chemistry with Maurice as her father! Infact, she has chemistry with everyone on the show! WHY?!? WHY?!? WHY?!?

I saw Kate on DAYS and she’s a fine actress but she is NOT Kristina!

What the H precipitated this disastrous decision? We deserve an explanation!

Really burnt up about this if you can’t tell.

bummed too, hope Lexi wasn’t fired and that she just couldn’t commit. still Kate could’ve been cast as a new character. damn I’m really bummed out about this one.

Lexi posted a video on her Instagram. She said she was looking forward to the story. It doesn’t sound like it was her decision to leave. I’m pissed! I’m also kind of wondering what brings Kate to GH after not wanting to stick around at DAYS. I mean I was a bigger fan of Marci Miller anyway! Still there’s no loyalty or dedication there!

I kinda hate to see the present Kristina leave, but I know Kate very well from Days of our Lives. I Love, Love Kate and think she is an Amazing actress !!! I ‘m just not happy that she will be taking such a minimal role. Kate is a main star actress !! ❤️❤️

I want real Kristina back already! Didn’t care for Kate’s Abby on DAYS. Kristina was my favorite of the sisters not anymore. An explanation would be nice!

She hasnt been on in a long time. You can get use to Kate. She is a really good actress and will make the role her own.

Good luck girly you are in for a rough ride! I would not take this job for a million dollars you are acting against vampire Nancy the complete nut job ! Prayers are with you

Lololol! !!!!!

I don’t watch Days but I did see a few weeks of Kate’s Abigail back in the day, and she is a fantastic actor. I’m guessing the Lexi does not have the time to commit to a big storyline, and thus GH has chosen to recast if they are developing a more significant SL. I just wish that we had known when Lexi’s last airdate was back in April. I think Lexi will go far with whatever endeavors she is seeking, and Kate will fit right in at GH, with a hopeful significant role in PC.

why Kristina? did Lexi not able to commit? is the character going full time? I pray they didn’t fire Lexi, hope she couldn’t commit and that’s why the role was recast, because Lexi was wonderful, she grew up on Gh and she’s a great Kristina and won an Emmy .I don’t like this. really sad no diss against Kate, never really seen her on days but I’ve heard good things about her, just wish she wasn’t taking over for Lexi.

Nope Lexi posted on her Instagram that she had been looking forward to the pending storyline. Seems like it wasn’t her decision. Shame

So was Lexi fired?

Just when I become impressed GH is writing stories for the younger Davis daughters, they end up recasting one of them. I think Lexi could have handled the upcoming storyline and it sounded like she was looking forward to it. Which makes me think it wasn’t her choice to leave.
I love Kate and, although I don’t want GH bringing on new characters, I would have made an exception for Kate. I’d rather Kate portray someone new than portray Christina. It must be awkward for Kate on set right now. Both ladies deserve better.

Lexi, good luck! Kate, welcome to the GH family. I love this move. Kate is an excellent actor and I hope they expand on her character and make her more equal to Michael and Dante. Give her front burner stories. Put her in the business and let her work along side her dad. Michael and Dante never wanted anything to do with Sonny’s mob dealings. Let Kristina strong arm some of these heavies around town and make them wish they never met her. Love life? Maybe she is written again to be heterosexual? I dont care, whatever. Maybe bisexual. Who cares, let this talented actress act!

I’m so glad they are going with Kate i watched her on Days she is an amazing actress. This is going to be great, she is going to take Dex from Joss can’t wait to see her work

More likely that Kristina and Dex are related than a romantic pairing with this recast. (Is he Courtney’s son – making him Krissy’s cousin?)

Mansi is 15 years older than McCoy. They’ve kind of put Dex in the younger zone. While Ainsworth could straddle that line, Mansi can’t.

Loved Lexi playing Kristina, but excited to see Kate Mansi take over her role. Should be a great storyline and hope they pair Kristina with Chase.

Things are getting complicated over there. I like Kate but not sure how she’s gonna fit as Lexi but I guess we’ll see as she’ll be carrying Molly’s baby I hear. Even more complicated is Haley in rehab for her DUI. Is Kate still married in real life? Her husband has disappeared from her IG account. (Kinda sounding like a soap opera )

RATINGS: ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Remain No #1 and # 2, ‘General Hospital’ Only Soap to Lose Viewers

The latest Nielsen ratings data is out for the week of April 27-May 1, and three out of the four network daytime dramas posted gains in total viewers, while one showed a loss in audience numbers, which may come as a surprise.

Let’s take a look at the ratings period with data from Soap Opera Network and then provide some context. The Young and the Restless remained as per usual in the top spot coming in at 3,14,000 on average total viewers slightly up +20,000 more eyeballs for the week.

In story, Y&R served up Matt’s plot to blow up the Newmans inside the abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Vegas, Sienna believing she killed Matt, only for him to be revealed alive with a severe contusion on his head by week’s end, Nick going on a bad drug trip thanks to the fentanyl laced with something else via Matt, and Cane and the Winters family learning that he is a donor match to save Malcolm’s life, while Sally got engaged to Billy.

FASHION HOUSE PROBLEMS

Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful clocked in with 2,795,000 viewers for the week up +38,000 from the previous ratings period. In story, The Bold and the Beautiful gave viewers; the fallout from Katie’s successful fashion show for her new fashion house, Logan. Dylan continuing to be freaked out. This time when doing her work at Forrester Creations, out from the clothing rack comes somebody that scares her enough to have her let out a blood-curdling scream. In addition, Liam suggested to Hope that she consider coming to work for Logan where she will be appreciated, after Steffy tells her that ‘Hope for the Future’ is back-burnered for now.

General Hospital, which many have considered being the most entertaining on a consistent basis with their storylines, most likely lost some viewers for the week because on Monday April 27, the show was preempted for a special report on the attempted shooting at the White House Correspondence dinner. If viewers did not catch it on Hulu, it aired on the network after Nightline on Tuesday at 1am. In total, GH was the only soap to lose viewers for the ratings week. GH tallied -1,809,000 which is down from the previous week by -168,000.

PAYBACK AND A SHOCKING REVEAL

In story that week, Carly’s double life with Brennan and Valentin caught up with her, Michael initiated a strategic plot against Willow, and Josslyn found herself in immediate danger after a run-in with Cassius.

Beyond the Gates, while having two days of the week fully preempted for UEFA Champions League soccer games, actually increased its viewership. BTG tallied 1,655,00 total viewers which also boasted the highest audience gains across any soap adding +42,000. In story, the soap opera spotlighted: Ashley stealing antibiotics to keep Grayson alive, Smitty zeroing in on a possible suspect in the plasma ring, Vernon taking over Martin’s debt to Joey Armstrong, while Kate recognized a name tied to Lynette’s finances.

It should also be noted for the ratings week; The Bold and the Beautiful once again topped Y&R for the top spot in the key Womens 18-49 demo and in the Womens 25-54 demo, Beyond the Gates once again bested General Hospital for the 3rd spot.

*Nielsen ratings are based on the Live+Same Day Big Data+Panel model.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Would You Be Down With a Dante and Elizabeth Romance?

Published

on

By

On the Friday, May 15 episode of General Hospital, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) shared a heartfelt talk on trauma. Dante is so concerned for Rocco (Finn Carr), and how it affects someone for the rest of their life, which is something Elizabeth knows all too well, but got through it.

It all begins when Elizabeth shows up at Dante’s office ready for her date with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst). How beautiful she looked did not go unnoticed by Dante. When the talked turned to how Dante told Rocco that he knew his son shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), he admits he is scared for his child, because he lost his innocence with the emotional baggage he now must carry forever of shooting someone.

Dante notices how Rocco is becoming more and more withdrawn and he wants to know how to help him. Elizabeth bring up how she can absolutely relate to trauma at a young age, just like Rocco. However for Elizabeth, her trauma came in the form of a brutal rape by Tom Baker. Speaking from experience, Elizabeth details that it was her friends and family like Lucky and Bobbie who helped pull her through. She encourages Dante to continue to show up and be there as support for his son.

SPECIAL DELIVERY

Next, an officer delivers to Dante the evidence from the pier shooting, which Dante plans on destroying. Before she leaves for her date with Ric, Liz reassured Dante he is doing the right thing to protect Rocco and she has done the same. She has left no record of Rocco’s hospital visit the night of the shooting. Liz leaves for her date.

THE WRONG SUSPECT

Then, Cullum storm troops in to Dante’s office demanding the evidence that the PCPD must have collected at the site of his shooting. Dante says that the evidence must be misfiled in the warehouse, but they will find it. However, Cullum realizes Dante is stalling and lying. Before heading to Dante’s office, Cullum paid a visit to Carly (Laura Wright) and saw a photo of Danny with Jason, triggering him to now believe that Danny may have been the person who shot him in the back on the pier!

DINING WITH RIC

At dinner at Café Cherie, Ric handed Elizabeth the folder with the priceless piece of artwork he’d purchased for her through Ava. Elizabeth loved it and went over to Ric and planted a kiss on him.

Will GH move Elizabeth into a romance with Dante? Do you think Liz and Dante make a cute couple? After today’s episode, it’s clear they very much like and admire one another. GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante Tells Rocco He Knows He Shot Cullum and Will Protect Son

Published

on

By

In well-played scenes on the Thursday, May 14 episode of General Hospital, Dante (Dominic Zampogna) finally had a talk with his son, Rocco (Finn Carr) informing him that he knows the teen shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Rocco has dreaded his father finding out, because he is the acting police commissioner of the Port Charles PD and feared his dad will have to arrest him for the crime.

Dante asks Rocco in his own words to recount what happened the night on the pier. He assured his son, he is not going to arrest him and noted there are very extenuating circumstances surrounding the crime.

Courtesy/ABC

FATHER AND SON

Rocco explained how he followed Britt  (Kelly Thiebaud) to the pier. Then, how Cullum attacked Britt. Jason (Steve Burton) showed up and fought with Cullum and how the gun came loose. He remembers the other weapon Cullum pulled out to kill Jason and that’s when he shot him.

Next, Dante explained that he was proud of his son for saving Jason and Britt’s lives. He also tells Rocco that he is very concerned in Britt’s involvement in all of this stemming all the way back to the Five Poppies, and feels she is still tied into everything that is happening.

Dante tells Rocco that nobody else can know about this involvement in the shooting. He also touchingly said, that he is his father, he will protect him. However, Rocco is worried that if the truth came out that he shot Cullum, his dad would be in serious trouble for covering up a crime. Dante tells Rocco, he should not worry about that right now, but he needs to stay in Port Charles so he and his mom can keep him safe.

A SHOCKING CALL

Suddenly, as father and son hug it out, Dante gets a call from Justine (Nazneen Contractor), alerting him to the fact that she just met with Cullum and he is looking for the evidence and the file from his shooting. Dante rolls his eyes, knowing things are about to go from bad to worse, and how is he going to keep his son safe from the evil WSB Director?

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Dominic Zamprogna always delivers a nice counterbalance to the often histrionics of other characters in Port Charles in his portrayal of Dante Falconeri. So that, when Dante breaks or gets emotional, it counts. Finn Carr has continually shined in the storyline as Rocco continues to teeter on the edge of knowing what he has done and being wracked with guilt. Next up has to be Danny learning his brother is the reason Jason was carted away. Stay tuned!

So, what did you think of the scenes between Dante and Rocco? How on earth will Dante keep Rocco safe? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
