DAYS Deidre Hall On The Passing Of Jed Allan: “We’ve Lost One Of The Really Good Ones”

Over the last 24 hours, the soap world has been rocked by the passing of one of their favorites, Jed Allan.  On Saturday, Allan passed away at the age of 84.  So many of his co-stars and colleagues have posted their remembrances and their grief, which Michael Fairman TV had continue to add to the original post on Allan’s passing.

But on Sunday evening, none other than Allan’s most famous romantic scene partner, Days of our Lives Deidre Hall (Marlena) came forth and shared her touching thoughts on Allan’s passing via her Deidre Hall official Facebook page.

Deidre expressed: “We’ve lost one of the really good ones. It’s been decades since I stepped on to the NBC sound stage to screen test for Marlena on Days of our Lives. I was given a 4-page scene to memorize and perform with Days’ dashing bachelor, Don Craig, played confidently by Jed Allan. Jed made it all look easy with his dark good looks, deep resonant voice, a naughty twinkle, boisterous laugh and his characteristic swagger. He used his charismatic charm to win audiences as well as cast and crew. He never tired of my lack of experience and taught by example. He was deeply devoted to his sons and his darling wife Toby. When he lost her, we weren’t sure how he’d go on, but go on he did. Jed was a giant in so many ways, witnessed by the huge emptiness he leaves behind.”

Along with her sentiments, Hall posted a clip of her and Allan as Marlena and Don; when the couple was breaking-up on the series, which is posted below.

Following Hall’s remembrances on Jed Allan, several other DAYS cast members past and present also took to social media to express their thoughts and grief on the loss of Allan including James Reynolds (Abe) who noted: “Jed Allen was one of the first to welcome me to Days of our Lives.. I am grateful he took a young actor under his wing.”

Gloria Loring, who’s character of Liz Chandler was romantically involved with Allan’s Don Craig related: “I just heard that Jed Allan, the former Don Craig on Days, passed on. Rest In Peace, my old friend. I loved working with you and will remember you with a smile in my heart.”

So, what do you think of Deidre Hall’s remembrances and statement on the death of her beloved co-star from DAYS,? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Terrific clip above. What year was that? Certainly a prime example of a time when daytime drama was at it’s finest.

I think you need to drop the g at the end of the name Don…its a little dirty sounding….Marlena and Roman were popular but Marlena and Don had a more realistic relationship-often feeling like a real couple at times…hated how they sent Don out to the mailbox and that was his ending…terrible!

LOVED Don and Marlena…The clip that Deidre shared is beautiful classic drama that I so miss and what DOOL was like at it’s finest unlike today for I cannot stand to watch DOOL now for it’s not the same…notice how beautiful the background music is in the scene and how it fit with what was happening? DOOL now has the worst background music and is very annoying…

Guys! For years I was hoping Jed Allen would come back to Days. His Don Craig was a great character and actually stood for something. Marlena and Don had so much chemistry together, and the loss of their infant son from SIDS has been called one of the most heart breaking moments in soap operas. I never cared for Roman Brady I, Roman Brady 2, or Roman Brady 3, but I will miss Jed Allen. His character, and his relationship with Marlena. They should have brought him back. I hope DOOL will write in Don Craigs passing, so maybe some of the fans who still remember him and Marlena might have some closure.

EMPIRE’s Final Season Cut Short Due To COVID-19; Series Finale Now Set For April 21

Will we now ever know just how the lives of Empire’s Lucious  (Terrence Howard) and Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and their dysfunctional family will resolve now that the series has had to scrap two of their planned episodes in their final season?  The sixth and final season was scheduled to run for a total of 20 episodes.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the production shutdown left them with only 18 episodes tht could be completed.

That means, as first announced during last night’s episode of Empire via voice-over: “Get ready for the shocking final three episodes of ‘Empire,’”  that reveal let viewers of Empire know there was change in plans.”  Now, the shortened season and series finale end on FOX on April 21st.

Reports also note that episode 19 was partially shot and that footage of that unfinished episode will be cut into the finale.

As to what happens with the character of Jamal Lyon played by Jussie Smollett, who everyone knows ran into significant trouble with the law; on last reports executives said he would not be back for the final episodes of the series, although there has still have been mentions of the character throughout season 6.

May Flights of Angels Wing You to Your Rest my Dear Friend. Your bigger than life, gregarious personality will leave a hole in our hearts forever. We are devastated-My great friend, co parent partner, and loving father to Kaya. That big belly laugh, bear hugs, bad puns, ability to harmonize to any song, great kitchen table singing-fests, and two steppin bad ass! “Johnny Numbers”, my All My Children soap stud, the great time keeper, Beatles fanatic ( I wish to God we could go back to “Yesterday”)… Kaya and I are beyond broken hearted, so stunned, sorry that my thoughts are a mess. You gave the best most beautifully written tributes, and I am at a complete loss for words right now for you. I hope Heaven has baseball and that your team always wins! The Yankees has just lost their biggest Fan. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

47th Annual Daytime Emmy Ceremonies Canceled Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

There won’t be any “And the Enmy goes to _” come this June, where NATAS had originally scheduled three nights of award presentations honoring the best in daytime programming at the 47th Annual Daytime Emmys.   The three-day event was slated for June 12-14th, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena. California.  Deadline broke the story of the decision to postpone daytime’s biggest night, for now.

NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp said of today’s decision: “These were extremely difficult decisions to make, but at the end of the day the health and safety of our event attendees and staff must remain our paramount concern,” NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp said of today’s decision. “We are closely monitoring public heath authorities’ guidance, seeking feedback from our awards communities, and evaluating the flexibility of our venue and production partners as we plan for the future in this unprecedented context.”

NATAS chairman Terry O’Reilly said on the change” “Given our concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided that we will not be staging the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in Pasadena this coming June.  As there are so many unknowns right now with the flow of information changing on a daily, almost hourly, basis, it would simply be irresponsible to move forward with our annual celebration of excellence in daytime television at this time.”
