Rest In Peace to a true Salem legend, who could even rock a Devil suit at the age of 96. Doug will be missed.

Condolences to Susan & the rest of their family, and the Days cast & crew.

I had a feeling this was coming, simply because of his appearance during the Christmas episodes (filmed some months ago), but it just felt… final in a way. RIP to him, and my condolences to Susan and their family.

What a Gentleman, this is a big loss.

I’m sobbing as I write this. I was 12 years old in 1974 and my school had this weird system where some students went to school at night. I was one of those kids. My friend told me I should watch Days of Our Lives to see Doug and Julie. My Mother watched ATWT so I had never seen them. I tuned in.
I was completely hooked. I loved the story so much. I was there when Addie died and pushed the stroller away with Hope inside. I knew that meant Doug and Julie could be together. I’m still watching and the rest is history.
I’m grateful I got to see Doug in the Christmas show. He spotted Constantine a mile away. Con knows Con!
I’m so sad Bill Hayes is gone. What a delight to watch him sing. Those were the Days, my friend, Those were the Days. ⏳⌛️
My heart goes out to Susan. ❤️‍

It was always such a comfort to see him on the show. So many things change and having Mr. Hayes on DAYS as Doug was foundational. He will truly be missed. Hugs to Mrs. Hayes and the DAYS family.

SO sad to hear of his passing.May you rest in peace Bill.

The issue of Broadway World includes an obituary for Bill Hayes focusing on his stage work, which I confess was more extensive than I was aware. It offers a link to a video of him with actress Isabel Bigley in a 1953 scene from “Me and Juliet.” Video quality is poor, but the artistry of the man still shines through.
