Days Of Our Lives

Days of our Lives Only Nominee for 25th Annual GLAAD Media Award For Outstanding Daily Drama Series!

Days of our Lives once again was nominated this year for the GLAAD Media Award! The GLAAD Media Awards honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of this important award 25th which recognizes powerful and important media stories from 2013, which has been a historic year in the fight for equality.  Unfortunately, the only daytime drama series currently telling a same-sex storyline is Days of our Lives with the love story of Sonny(Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey and now Guy Wilson) and the issues these two characters face within the town of Salem.  No other daytime soap opera has a same-sex storyline currently on-air, so by default DAYS is not only the sole nominee, but the winner in this category.

That being said, DAYS does richly deserve this award for keeping Sonny and Will a vibrant part of the tapestry of the canvas of Salem.   To view the complete list of GLAAD Award nominees click here!   The GLAAD Media Awards will be held on April 12 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California,  and in New York City on May 3 at the Waldorf Astoria New York .

So what do you think about DAYS nomination/win?  Let us know!

I guess Felix and Brad and Lucas on GH didn’t make the cut for this year’s award– maybe next year. Hopefully this year the GH writers will invest some time in fleshing out these characters and giving them a decent story line.
