DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Bo and Hope Renew Their Vows Before Leaving Salem; Peter Reckell & Kristian Alfonso Make ‘Bope’ Timeless
In an episode entirely devoted to Bo and Hope (sprinkled in with some newly-created ‘black and white’ flashbacks of a young Tom and Alice Horton), Days of our Lives served up a long-awaited happy ending for one of the great soap super couples of all-time, while leaving the door open for return appearances down the line.
While the on-screen returns of Peter Reckell (Bo) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope) were short and over only several episodes, the takeaway for ‘Bope’ fans is: Bo is now out of his coma and on the mend. He has his memories and mind in tact, and can now spend the rest of his life with his “Fancy Face” as they sail off to new adventures wherever it takes them.
The episode also served as the counterpoint to how their love story ended a few years back, when after Bo was awakened from a cryogenic state (thanks to the evil Megan Hathaway DiMera) and his memory was scrambled, making him do things more like a “Kiriakis,” he was almost reunited with Hope. However, he was shot and landed in a coma, thanks to his son, Shawn (Brandon Beemer). Fast-forward to 2025 and Wednesday’s, June 18th episode, it was simple and aimed as a love letter to longtime fans of the couple who wanted to see them together, happy and reunited.

In the story, Bo surprises Hope at the Horton house with an impromptu renewal of their wedding vows. As they flashback to their wedding and what they said to each other in the past, they say it to each other now in the present. In one of the more touching moments, Bo has a wedding ring for Hope, and when she opens it, she is reduced to tears realizing it was her mother Addie’s wedding ring. Bo reveals he had help preparing this from their son, Shawn.
Then, in another surprise, Bo shows Hope a photo of the the “Fancy Face” and says he took it back from Shawn, who is not using it at present, since he is so busy working in Salem. Bo shares that he thought it would be a great opportunity for them to sail around the world, and to have a new adventure together.
Sadly, Bo admits that the one thing John’s death and his near death have taught him is to live each day to its fullest, without regret. Now, he wants to make new memories with Hope since they missed out on almost 12 years together. Hope is touched, and is excited about the prospect to be with Bo and sail around the world with him.

The story of Bo and Hope is juxtaposed by the returns of Zach Chyz and Sydney Kathrann Smith as a young Tom and Alice and their love for each other. In a touching moment, Bo has a suggestion for Hope … what if they follow in Doug and Julie’s footsteps and settle in the Horton family home some day, which Hope loves.
In the final scene, Bo and Hope are now sitting in front of the plaque dedicated to Tom and Alice Horton at Horton Town Square. They reflect on how goodbyes never get easier. Cue the Bo and Hope love story montage. As viewers see memorable moments over the years from their adventures, romance, struggles, almost divorces, and the death of their beloved son, Zack.

Back in the present, Bo and Hope shared that they’ve had amazing memories together and so many more to come. “So long, Salem,” Bo says as they get up to leave. However, Hope adds, “Until next time.”
While it is always difficult to see iconic stars Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso exit DAYS, it should also be noted that through their scenes, on-screen chemistry and the flashbacks, that Bo and Hope are truly timeless – a couple brought to life by two actors over decades that always has the ability to make us smile or make us cry. As Carol Burnett would sing, “I’m so glad we had this time together.” Let’s keep the faith that maybe another return will be made down the line, but at least, we leave their story for now knowing Bo and Hope are well, in love as ever, and enjoying life together.
So, what did you think of the DAYS episode devoted to Bo and Hope? Were you touched by Bo’s gestures for Hope including: renewing their vows, Addie’s wedding ring, getting back the “Fancy Face” etc? Will you miss Peter and Kristian? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
Honestly didn’t see the point of the fake “flashbacks” with the Tom & Alice standins. That seems like something that would have fit better in the upcoming 60th anniversarry episodes.
Other than that a good compilatiion of Bo & Hope clips, and at least this “visit” ended on a good note. But still a bit of a ripoff… after months of buildup, they were around for what? 4 episodes??
Was actually hoping they might stick around since they were supposedly going to take over John’s role at “Black Patch” detective agency, and look for that necklace that Little Dougie stole from Julie.
Now there’s a useless character who should be on his way out of Salem immediately. Him and Fake Phillip.
I don’t think a whole episode was necessary. Especially so much of it was just I love you over and over. No need for a speedy return …
It helps people believe in true love Over 42 years it rekindles their spirit of being loved
Loved it you can’t deny the chemistry they have together.Kust wish they could have stayed longer. Hope the powers that be bring them back sooner rather then later
It impressed me that Peter Reckell can still pull off shirtless scenes at age 70. Most American men can’t….. maybe standing up…. but not lying down in bed!
Peter obviously takes care of himself.
Love seeing Peter and Kristian!!!
But will admit this was a flop for me. Very little screen time, anti-climatic, dull, lackluster scenes. They missed a LOT of beats that could have been explored. Mainly that they have been separated for 12 years! Hope had other relationships and a lot has happened and none of that is even mentioned. It was all just roses and sunshine and felt a bit insulting to watch as a long time fan. They need a storyline next time and more reverence and angst built in to their writing. It felt rushed and just like they are being retired and put in the old shelf.
No matter what you do some people will never be satisfied. The Bo and Hope dedication was just that dedicated to Bo and Hope. It was wonderful finally seeing a soap couple for once having a happy ending with no drama. I never thought it could be done but days pulled it off. I enjoyed the memories and hoping they will return one day. Thank you
There is never enough time to watch Bo and Hope and their love story and the adventures they still have on the show hopefully. Bring them back soon for a while
Will miss this iconic TV couple. Made for some memorable moments on Australian soapie viewing. Thankyou for these moments.
So glad days gave these two wonderful actors the opportunity to come back and renew their love story. They definitely were a big reason days had so many viewers back in the day.The had a lot of great story lines and adventures. They deserved the respect to finish out their love story which has been dangling on for years.Hope to see them on again.
Loved it. Bo and Hope are Days of Our Lives and Timeless characters.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Favorites Making Returns: Alison Sweeney, Christie Clark, Chandler Massey and Bryan Dattilo

Great news for Days of Our Lives fans, now that Ryan Quan is co-head writer of the long-running soap opera. Coming in June of 2027 (since DAYS tapes ten or so months ahead), you can look forward to the returns of Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton).
The foursome is back on set and began last week to tape their upcoming story arc, according to TV Insider. As to what exactly is going on that brings sister Sami and Carrie’s history back up, as well as Will and Lucas’ is only being teased at this time, but suffice to say, it should be intriguing.
Alison Sweeney explained on being back on set, “It was a lot of dialogue and emotion, but with all the best actors to work opposite, we fell into it as if no time had passed. It was really wonderful.”

As to working with the longstanding rivalry of Sami and Carrie, Alison added on working with Clark, “So, it really does feel like we’re sisters. It’s so fun, and she’s such a good actor that she makes everything so natural that you can really disappear into those stories.”
JUST LIKE OLD TIMES
It also seems like the deep-history, which often had the sister fighting for the love of Austin Reed, but that might not figure into the equation this time, or will it?
Alison indicated what she thought of the scripts she was given. “I felt like when I read it, it was a page-turner. I was very excited. There’s a lot of history here, and a lot of things that haven’t been said. So, it’s really not like, ‘Oh, rehashing stuff.’ And now having played some of the scenes, I’m psyched.” Sweeney added, as for the men, working again with her on-screen son, Chandler Massey and Will’s on-screen father Bryan Dattilo, was also extra special.
The last time DAYS viewers saw Sami on the canvas was back in November of 2025, when she revealed she has gotten engaged to never-before-seen Dante Vitali. As for Clark, she last visited Salem for the episodes surrounding John Black’s memorial in June of 2025.
Chandler Massey’s Will Horton last made a visit to Salem in November of 2025 when he attended the gala for the Tom Horton Free Clinic as part of the soap opera’s 60th anniversary celebration. Bryan Dattilo was last seen in December of 2025. So, by the time we see all four again it will be close to two years since they were on new episodes of the series. Time to look forward to June of 2027.
So, excited by the news of Alison, Christie, Chandler and Lucas making a return to Days of Our Lives? What do you think the story will be involving, Sami, Carrie, Lucas and Will? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Alum Al Calderon Talks On His Daytime Emmy-Nominated Scenes as Javi Hernandez (Exclusive)

Last Tuesday, Al Calderon scored the first Emmy nomination of his career for his role as Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives.
Calderon name was announced as one of the performers competing for gold in the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30.
This week, Calderon chatted live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel for a one-on-one conversation where he discussed: his nominated scenes and time on the Peacock streaming soap opera, his decision to leave DAYS, his role of Nico Silva on Brilliant Minds and its sad cancellation, plus his passing the torch of Javi to Jacob Martinez, who took over the role on-screen on the June 30, 2026 episode of Days of Our Lives.

JAVI REVEALS TO LEO THAT HE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO DIED
Al revealed the scenes that comprise his now Emmy-nominated reel have at its epicenter the heartbreaking moments from the September 12, 2025 episode. In it, Javi shares for the first time to Leo (Greg Rikaart) that he had a daughter named Solana, with a woman he was seeing named Sylvia. One fateful day, Sylvia left their child in a car when she went to work and the little girl died. Javi had blamed himself for not being the parent to take his daughter to school that day since he was hungover the night before, therefore it opened up the opportunity for something to happen to the his child, and it did.
The multi-talented actor/singer explained his reel: “It was the scene where he is talking about his daughter to Leo. I also included the scene where Javi goes to talk to Melinda (Tina Huang) and to see if it would be a viable option to adopt, because I wanted to introduce the subtlety and nuance of why Javi kind of has this whole connection to Tesoro, in a way.”
It is true that Al can bring the tears and make us cry right along with him during his run as Javi. To that, Calderon added, “I’ve read the comments that I’m a little bit of a crybaby, so I didn’t want the entire reel to be of me crying, but I wanted it to show a little bit of an emotional range of the restraint that Javi was feeling so I included that scene
In addition Calderon shared, “I also included a really beautiful scene with Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez, DAYS) where I’m looking at photos of Tesoro, and of course, Javi is crying. I just wanted to show the relationship between Javi and his family as well, and as I mentioned the reveal of the child that he lost.”

ALUMS AL CALDERON AND ALICE HALSEY REPRESENT DAYS OF OUR LIVES IN EMERGING TALENT CATEGORY
In a twist of fate, Calderon is also nominated in the Emerging Talent category with Alice Halsey who played Rachel Black. Halsey is currently starring in the reboot of Little House on the Prairie in the lead role of Laura Ingalls on Netflix.
As to his hope on Emmy night, Al expressed, “Of course, I want to win, but Alice Halsey is going to give me a run for the money. And if’s not me (who wins the award), it better be her!”
You can check out the full interview with Al below.
Now let us know, do you remember Al’s emotional scenes when he explained to Leo he had a daughter who died, which made it all the more heartbreaking to not end up with permanent custody of Tesoro? What do you think of Al’s chances to win the gold based on his Emmy scene selection? Do you miss him as Javi? Weigh-in via the comment section.
