Rafe2 sneaks into Fay’s hospital room and begins to smother her with a pillow. She tries to fight back, but in the end, he kills her! He quickly exits her room as her monitor alarms go off. Despite Carly and Lexie’s best efforts, they cannot revive Fay. Nicole and Taylor are led to believe their mother died of a stroke, and they ultimately decide to forego an autopsy. Lexie breaks the news to Roman about Fay’s demise. Rafe2 is relieved to learn that Fay’s death is being chalked up to natural causes. Remembering her mother’s last words to her, Nicole vows to uncover EJ’s secret. Meanwhile, Taylor allows herself to seek comfort in EJ’s arms. Vivian has fun tormenting Chloe, then sneaks into Stefano’s house with Gus. Chad discovers her, and then Stefano berates her. Gus has better luck and informs Vivian that there was recently a prisoner in the DiMeras’ basement. Philip takes Chloe out for an open mic night at the Brady Pub. She sings and begins to find her joy again in music and in life. Rafe2 decides not to tell EJ and Stefano that he was responsible for Fay’s death. Meanwhile, Nicole and Taylor console each other as they grieve over Fay. Nicole, however, can’t stop thinking about their mother’s last words – that EJ has a secret. Nicole confronts her husband, who insists he has no idea what Fay was talking about. Privately, EJ is worried. Later, Nicole overhears EJ tell Stefano he thinks Fay was trying to tell Nicole about Rafe. A masked man follows and threatens Melanie, and tells her to drop the reward for information on Arianna’s hit-and-run. Dario saves her, but the man escapes. Melanie and Dario go to “Rafe,” who is not at all interested. Dario decides he will get to the bottom of this himself – and Melanie insists she will help him. Carly feigns an elbow injury to get a prescription from Lexie. Daniel catches her with the pills and insists on looking at her elbow. Carly snaps at him. Daniel and Jennifer are forced to face their attraction, but each discount it as a “rebound” thing. Each privately resolves to stay away from the other.
Nicole eavesdrops on EJ and Stefano as they talk about their secret that involves Rafe. Before she can get the full story, EJ and Stefano are alerted to her presence. Nicole covers. Meanwhile, Rafe2 and Sami have it out when she learns he asked Johnny to fetch him a beer. A frustrated Sami decides to take her children to visit her brother, Eric, for a short break. Rafe2 is secretly triumphant; convinced this is the final nail in the coffin of their marriage. Sami goes to EJ to let him know she’s taking the kids out of town. He pretends to be sympathetic to her troubles. At the same time, Nicole decides to investigate EJ’s secret regarding Rafe. She drops by the loft to question Rafe. Rafe2 misreads her intentions – and pulls Nicole into a major kiss! Bo and Hope are ready to start over as a family, but Ciara misunderstands and uses an opportunity to run away with Theo. The kids hop on a truck headed out of town. A horrified Bo and Hope soon realize what has happened, while Ciara and Theo make camp in the woods. Carly struggles to keep her cool as Daniel offers to examine her “injured” elbow. On edge, Carly blows up at him. She doesn’t want Daniel to find out she faked the injury to get pain medication. Jennifer arrives, and she and Daniel express concern for Carly’s emotional state. Carly warns them to back off – and then pops a couple of pills in her office. Under the calming influence of the drugs, she later apologizes to both of them. Daniel senses something is wrong, but Carly insists she’s just upset about Nicholas rejecting her. Later, Daniel and Jennifer continue to fight their feelings for each other.
Nicole slaps Rafe2 for kissing her. She thinks he’s using her again to get info on EJ. “Rafe” denies this and blames his accident for his behavior. He and Nicole agree not to mention this to EJ. Alone, Nicole is still determined to discover Rafe’s connection to EJ. Meanwhile, EJ tells Stefano that Sami took the kids and went to Eric’s. Later, EJ comforts Taylor in her grief over Fay’s death. He then goes to Rafe2 to congratulate him on driving Sami away. Cocky Rafe2 lets it slip that Nicole dropped by to see him, which worries EJ. Meanwhile, Nicole tells Taylor that the secret Fay spoke of has to do with Rafe. Bo and Hope search for Ciara and Theo, convinced they haven’t gone far. Hope finds a note from Ciara and realizes why she ran away. Meanwhile, Lexie comforts Abe, who grieves for Fay, as well as Brandon, the son he never got to raise. Lexie reminds him he has a second chance with Theo. Hope calls Lexie about the children. Abe and Lexie show up at Bo and Hope’s house. Bo reassures everyone the children will be found. Meanwhile, Ciara and Theo are farther away from Salem than everyone thinks. Ciara is confident her parents will get along better now that she’s gone and she vows to stay away forever. Abigail invites Chad to join her in a summer internship at the hospital but he says he’ll be working at DiMera Enterprises. Abigail tries to hide her dismay but Chad realizes she’s worried he’ll be asked to get involved in the shadier parts of the business. Chad admits he wonders about that himself. When Kate and Stefano join them, Chad says he’s reconsidering working for his father. Kate and Stefano realize Abigail has influenced him. Kate, off her own anger towards Chloe, advises Stefano to get Abigail out of his son’s life before she turns son against father.
Bo and Hope continue to frantically search for Ciara and Theo. Abe and Lexie check the hospital, then she breaks down and he consoles her. Bo and Hope grow closer as they work as a team to find their daughter. Meanwhile, Ciara refuses to answer her phone when Hope calls. She insists Theo not answer either. Later, Ciara falls and is knocked unconscious. Theo panics when he can’t wake her. He’s torn when Hope calls again, wondering if he should go against Ciara’s wishes and answer. After hearing from Rafe2 that Nicole came by for a visit, EJ fears she overheard him and Stefano talking about replacing Rafe. Stefano says they have to get the imposter out of town while Nicole is in Chicago for her mother’s funeral. That way she can’t question him any more. EJ and Stefano tell Rafe2 to leave town for good but first he has to play out all the goodbyes to make it look authentic. Nicole almost voices her concerns about EJ to Taylor but decides to keep it to herself. Taylor covers her feelings for EJ in front of Nicole. Taylor confesses to Maggie she’d like to have someone special in her life, especially at a time like this. At the mansion, Nicole talks with a vision of Fay and theorizes that EJ caused Rafe’s car accident in order to get rid of him. When EJ returns home, he and Nicole play a game of cat and mouse, trying to get information out of each other. Taylor returns and senses the tension. Nicole secretly wants to question Rafe more about her theory, but is thwarted when EJ says they have to leave for Chicago immediately. Alone, Nicole guesses she can wait to talk to Rafe until she gets back.
Rafe2 decides to ignore EJ and Stefano’s warning to play things out – he’s leaving immediately. He packs up and heads out, only to be stopped by Gabi and Will, who decided earlier they need to have an intervention to get Sami and Rafe back together. Philip relays the bad news to Chloe that Social Services is still denying shared custody. He leaves to talk to a lawyer and runs into Kate. They have it out over Philip getting sucked in by Chloe again. Kate then approaches Chloe, who is drowning her sorrows at the bar. Kate blasts her for being a horrible mother and vows to keep Chloe out of Philip and Parker’s lives. Chloe throws a drink in her face and storms off.
Days Of Our Lives
How John Oliver’s ‘Days of Our Lives’ Guest Star Turn as ‘Devlin St. John’ Came to an End

‘Last Week Tonight’ host, John Oliver wrapped his three-episode run on Days of Our Lives on the Friday, August 14 episode of the Peacock streaming soap opera, where viewers learned the fate of his character, the Salem chief water inspector, Devlin St. John.
Oliver got all of wishes granted and got to revel in some soap tropes on Friday’s episode which included: a slapping fest, a mind-erasing drug and case of amnesia, and exiting through a Days of our Lives staple … the cryogenic chamber! This leaves the door open for Devlin St. John return down the line, since many characters come back to life from years on end in the said chamber.
Here’s what went down! In the pick-up from Oliver’s cliffhanger earlier in the week, Devlin St. John was drugged by EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney). Now Rita prepared a syringe filled with CRS-17 to wipe out the last 24 hours of his memory, so the water inspector would get out of EJ’s way. However, there was a twist!

DEVLIN ST. JOHN MUST BE DEALT WITH
Before the drug took its full effect, a dazed Devlin woke up very disoriented, believing he had been ‘compromised.’ Next, we get (as previewed), the showdown between Devlin and EJ, where Devlin stands up to EJ telling him he will not allow him to “gut” his brain, and calling him a “budget Bond villain!” In return, EJ calls Devlin a “sanctimonious little parasite,” which leads to St.John slapping EJ and vice-versa.
From there, things take an even more over-the-top soap turn. After his 24-hour amnesia took effect, Devlin managed still hear incriminating intel within the DiMera mansion. Rita realizes she must get rid of St. John for good, but she has developed feelings for him in short order. Rita admits she has developed a crush on the chief water inspector, so she cannot bring himself to kill him.

JOHN OLIVER TO ADDRESS DAYS AND GH ROLES ON SUNDAY’S LAST WEEK TONIGHT?
However, next Rita has Devlin in a wheelchair and brings him into EJ’s underground cryogenic chamber. Once he is physically in the chamber, she kisses him on the lips, before she shoves him into the chamber with her parting words, “All you need is faith that you’ll return one day.”
Thus ends the soap opera journey of John Oliver from his three-day guest stint in July on General Hospital in the role of Z, the head of the WSB, to his campy role with the wig he brought to set as Devlin St. John on DAYS. It was back in March, Oliver revealed his list of requirements to any soap opera that would have him: a soapy name, a dramatic close-up and tag, slapping, and a juicy storyline.
Hopefully, Oliver will finally talk about his experiences on Days of Our Lives and General Hospital on this Sunday’s episode of ‘Last Week Tonight on HBO which should be a must-see.
So, what did you think of how John Oliver’s Devlin St. John was written out of Days of Our Lives? How did you like his run on DAYS as compared to GH? Both very different, for sure. Let us know via the comment section below.

Jacob Martinez Make His Debut on ‘Days Of Our Lives’ as Javi Hernandez: What Were Your First Impressions?

On the Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, July 1 episodes of Peacock’s Days of Our Lives, Jacob Martinez was introduced in scenes as the new Javi Hernandez. The actor finally made his on-screen debut as the successor in the part to Al Calderon.
In the story on Monday, we meet nuJavi sitting at the Brady Pub when his ex Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) walks in and it turns out they both came to the pub to get a chicken soup order for Chanel, and shared how they both offered to babysit Trey while she undergoes chemo.
The two have a banal chit-chat, when things take a small turn when Leo asks Javi how things are going with his new boyfriend Gus (Michael Ocampo), since the two live and work together, but Javi ain’t playing this game, and shuts Leo down.

JAVI REFLECTS ON HIS PAST AND LOOK TO HIS FUTURE
Later as Javi and Gus make out with each other while on duty at the hospital, Leo happens to wander by trying to have someone get him home from slipping on some slime earlier and taking a little fall at the Brady Pub. Gus offers to take him home, but Leo turns him down.
Then on today’s episode, we see Jacob Martinez getting more to say in a monologue of sorts when talking one-one-one with Gus at their place with Gabi.
Javi reflects on the difficult time he had with his mother, once she found out he was gay and how she could never accept him. He went on to say that once his mother died, he felt free. He tells Gus he feels bad that back in Texas, he always wanted to be with him. The way his life went at the time, instead he wound up having a child with Silvia, who gave birth to their beloved child, Solana, who tragically died.
Later, Gus questions Javi’s feelings for Leo. Next, Javi pulls Gus in for a kiss to show him he is all about him right now and the two head off to the bedroom.
So, what did you think of Jacob Martinez’s debut as Javi? What were your impressions? Do you like his take so far on Javi? Do you want to see Leo back with Javi, or Javi making things work with Gus, or do you care at this point at all? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section below.
Days Of Our Lives
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.
Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall). Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.
So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.
