A tipsy Nathan almost tells Melanie he loves her when Stephanie interrupts. Stephanie and Melanie decide to take him back to Maggie’s to sober up. Upon their arrival, Nathan realizes he left his keys at the Brady Pub and Stephanie insists Melanie retrieve them. Melanie runs into Lucas, who tells her Nathan has been preoccupied over a certain woman. Meanwhile, Stephanie convinces Nathan that Melanie is deeply in love with Philip and is hugely excited about their upcoming wedding. When Melanie returns, Nathan abruptly leaves, unable to acknowledge his love for her. Alone with Stephanie, Nathan confides he can’t wait for Melanie’s wedding to be over. Later, Melanie tells Vivian she’s decided she can’t get married. Sami breaks from her passionate kiss with Rafe, unable to admit him back in her life. Rafe won’t take no for an answer and insists they were meant to be together. Meanwhile, Anna convinces EJ that he needs her. EJ can’t wait to disappear with Johnny and Sydney, and is delighted Sami’s break up with Rafe has caused her so much suffering. Vivian warns Victor about Kate. In turn, Victor tells Kate if she doesn’t behave he’ll make sure she’s not allowed at the wedding. Later, Kate tells Carly that she overheard Vivian talking about her and Melanie. Carly goes to Vivian, who reveals enough to convince her that she knows Melanie is her daughter. Carly races to find Melanie and warn her.

After an all night ice storm, Carly goes to the Kiriakis mansion to find Melanie, but slips and hits her head, knocking herself unconscious. At the hospital, Bo arrives and learns Carly has a concussion and slight amnesia – she can’t remember where she’s been. Later, Bo has to go out in the field and Carly slowly begins to remember her conversation with Kate regarding the connection between her, Vivian and Melanie and suddenly realizes why she was at the mansion. It was to protect her daughter from Vivian! Meanwhile, Vivian had Melanie spend the night to try talking some sense into her regarding her marriage to Philip. Clearly wanting to kill her at the wedding, Vivian does her best sell. She asks if there’s another man and Melanie admits there is. Later, Vivian paints a picture of how this guy clearly doesn’t love her and Melanie slowly gives in. Philip overhears Melanie say she wasn’t going to marry him, but she covers. Later, Vivian is about to place the comb in Melanie’s hair when Arianna and Stephanie interrupt them. Arianna slyly makes Vivian leave the room and the girls get Melanie ready for her wedding. Stephanie discovers the comb and nearly poisons herself but Vivian stops her just in time. Vivian learns Carly was at the mansion and gives Gus new instructions. Kate starts in on Philip and he orders his mom to leave him and Vivian alone. Kate refuses, but when Victor overhears her, he threatens her. He will find a way for Philip to cut Kate out of his life. Kate, in turn, goes to Hope, who has just rejoined the force, and talks about her concerns regarding the wedding, the gift, etc. Hope promises to look into it and later, she recalls running into Vivian with the gift and is extremely bothered. Brady calls Daniel on his desire to have kids. Daniel informs Brady it can’t happen. They discuss the option of adopting. Meanwhile, Chloe, loaded down with pregnancy tests, runs into Arianna. Arianna believes this to be a great thing, but Chloe isn’t so sure. Arianna urges her to talk to Daniel. Also, Daniel runs into Lucas and asks him to let Chloe spend some time with Allie. Lucas won’t agree to it and suggests Daniel and Chloe start a family of their own.

Brady and Arianna share a romantic moment and he gives her a bracelet that once belonged to Isabella. Arianna is touched and Brady promises there are no other women for him – just her.Carly frantically tries to call Bo to tell him that she has her memory back and that Vivian knows Melanie is her daughter. Unfortunately, Bo can’t be reached and neither can Melanie. Nathan admonishes Carly not to leave the hospital, but she decides to sneak out. She’s almost home free when Gus intercepts her. He kidnaps her and takes her to a darkened basement. Hope, with an assist from Ciara, finally learns that Melanie is Carly’s daughter. Hope tells Justin she’s afraid that Melanie is in danger. She leaves Bo a message, then crosses with Victor and speaks to him frankly regarding her concerns and his bad mood. He strongly insists that he would never let Vivian commit mayhem against Philip’s bride. Vivian gives Melanie her wedding present. She opens it and is stunned to find a beautiful comb. Meanwhile, Maggie is having a hard time on her anniversary and calls to say she won’t be able to make it to the wedding. Melanie is affected by Maggie’s cancellation and is plagued by thoughts of Nathan. Lucas tells Philip he thinks Melanie might still have feelings for Nathan. Naturally, Philip is upset by this and tells his brother if he wants to help, keep an eye on Kate. Kate, meanwhile, accepts Stefano’s offer to keep Vivian out of the limelight today. Chloe learns that she is pregnant! She tries to tell Daniel, but is unsuccessful. Melanie writes Nathan a letter, desperate to know his true feelings. She asks a reluctant Stephanie to deliver it. At the same time, Nathan goes to see Maggie and lends her the strength she needs to be able to be there for Melanie. At the hospital, Stephanie can’t resist temptation and winds up reading the letter just as Nathan catches her with it. Stephanie keeps Melanie’s letter from Nathan. After Stephanie leaves for the wedding, Daniel advises Nathan to talk to Melanie if he still has feelings for her. Vivian, via TV, reveals to Carly her plan to kill Melanie at the wedding. Vivian places the comb in Melanie’s hair, making sure Carly witnesses the fateful moment. After, Melanie feels strangely woozy, and believes it to be stress. In the basement, Carly is horrified, and with a mother’s superhuman strength, attacks Gus. Back at the wedding, Stephanie returns and tells Melanie that Nathan refused to read the letter. Melanie passes out cold on the floor while everyone waits for her to make her entrance down stairs. Hope notices a receipt Victor dropped that helps her put all the pieces together. She knows what she has to do. Meanwhile, Vivian gets a text from Gus to meet her in a basement. However, the text is from Carly, who has overpowered Gus and is setting Vivian up for a trap. Chloe is finally able to tell Daniel the good news. She’s pregnant! They are both very excited about the baby.

Sami and Rafe fully reconnect and go to the Brady Pub. EJ, after plotting to move to an island with Johnny and Sydney, runs into a happy Sami. He learns of Rafe and Sami’s reunion and his head spins. EJ tries to convince Sami to dump Rafe but she refuses. At the wedding, Chloe tells Arianna that she’s pregnant but asks her to keep it secret for awhile. Chloe runs into Lucas, Kate and Allie, and then receives harsh words from Victor. Philip rescues her and the two share a nice moment wishing each other the best. Just as Philip is about to go up and find Melanie, she shows up on Brady’s arm and the wedding begins. Meanwhile, Nathan takes off to see Melanie. Just as Abe asks if anyone has just cause to stop this wedding, Nathan shows up at the Kiriakis door. Chloe prevents him from interrupting the wedding and telling Melanie he loves her. Melanie puts Nathan behind her and marries Philip. Carly has it out with Vivian over trying to kill Melanie. Vivian confesses all. Melanie is probably dying as they speak. However, after figuring out where they are, Hope bursts in to tell Vivian she’s wrong. Hope reveals Victor figured out Vivian’s plan and switched the poisoned comb with another. Vivian panics. Gus shouts for her make a run for it, and knocks crates over on top of Hope and Carly. With Carly trapped and Hope knocked unconscious by the crates Gus toppled, Vivian heads for the wedding to kill Melanie. Carly frees herself, then takes Hope’s gun and chases after Vivian. Daniel finds Bo at the hospital and tells him Carly is missing. Bo finds a message from Carly on his cell to meet her at the basement.

Days Of Our Lives

Who is DAYS Gwen Really? What is Her Vendetta Against Abigail All About?

We have a new psycho in Salem, and she is played to perfection by Emily O’Brien who has been bringing her brand of quirky evil to the NBC soap opera as Gwen.  Soap fans, of course, remember her as Jana Hawkes on The Young and the Restless from 2006-2011.

Ron Carlivati and his DAYS writing team certainly have some tricks up their sleeve where Gwen is concerned as viewers recently found out she was behind slipping Abigail (Marci Miller) the drug months ago causing her hallucinations.

Photo: JPI

But Gwen is even much darker than we think, when several key clues and moments were revealed on Friday’s episode of DAYS when she went to visit her conspirator in prison, Dr. Rolf (William Utay).

During the exchange, we learn Gwen has been getting the mind-altering drug from one of Dr. Rolf’s concoctions.  She reveals to him that their plan has hit the proverbial snag.  The drug did not dismantle Abigail as she had hoped.  We also learn while she was in the mental institution – Bayview – that is how she tracked Rolf down by researching the drug he had created.

And it appears, Rolf hates Abigail too, citing he always saw her as  thorn in Stefano’s side.  It is then Gwen says he wants another dose of the drug to “melt Abby’s brain!”  Rolf says without anyone else to take the fall for it, he can’t come up with it.

He suggests to her to alter her plan and to instead destroy Abigail’s life piece by piece … and go for the long game instead of the short term – take everything that is near and dear from her including her husband, children, home, everything.

But, what does come to light is that even Dr. Rolf does not know why Gwen wants to destroy Abigail.  That is when Gwen shares she has very good reason to hate Abigail, and he, along with everyone else, will find out why when the time is right.

So, what are your theories?  Who is Gwen?  Is she a character with plastic surgery?  Could she be a sister no one knew Abigail had?  A former mental patient who Abby knew when she was getting help a few years back? And what is her gripe with Abigail all about?  Comment below!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sonny and Will Say Their Final Goodbyes and Leave Salem

Not a happy day for fans of Days of our Lives’ WilSon.  Although it has been known now for over seven months that Daytime Emmy-winners, Chandler Massey (Will) and Freddie Smith (Sonny) were let-go from the long-running NBC soap opera, it still was hard to watch them have their final scenes on Tuesday’s episode.

As was in the dialogue, the writers and the show left the door open for a Sonny and Will return down the line when Sonny uttered: “Goodbye Salem, for now.” And, as is with most DAYS characters, they seem to somehow return at one time or another.  But still, it looks like the soap has made the decision to rest the characters.

Before their final exit, Sonny and Will had a visit with Sami (Alison Sweeney) to tell her they are moving to Arizona. Sami is up to her eyeballs in trouble with the custody hearing for Allie’s baby versus Nicole (Arianne Zucker).  Will tells his mother he wants her blessing before they go, and that he already received a blessing from Marlena (Deidre Hall).

An emotional Sami tells Will how sorry she is for all the things she has done, and the mistakes she had made when she was younger and along the way that impacted him.  In tears, Will says he is going to miss her, and the two of then share a hug,

After Sami leaves to head to the custody hearing, Will and Sonny look at Allie’s baby and the two talk about how things worked out for the best; even though Allie did not ultimately let them adopt her child.  The two realize they are about to give their daughter, Ari, a new life and Will thinks another baby and a dog might be in their future, too!

Photo: JPI

Later, it’s time for one last look at Horton Town Square, and Sonny and Will remember their love from the beginning in a short flashback with a few moments of how they came together.

Will says it’s a tradition for when a Horton leaves Salem to visit the dedication to Tom and Alice in the ‘Square’.  Finally, it’s time for Sonny and Will to say goodbye to Salem for now as they walk out together..

So, what did you think of the final episode of Chandler and Freddie’s? Did you want more time spent on WilSon’s history in the flashback montage? Are you sad to see them go? Comment below.

DAYS Rob Scott Wilson Delivers the ‘Power Performance of the Week’

If you think you were emotionally drained watching Ben Weston battle himself for control – think of how draining it must have been for Ben’s portrayer, actor Rob Scott Wilson, or for the character of Ben himself!

Well, in the final three episodes last week on Days of our Lives, Rob Scott Wilson once again showed why he is in complete command of this complex character – a former serial killer who has fought so hard to redeem himself, married the love of his life, Ciara (Vicroria Konefal), only to have it all almost wiped out by a heinous plot by Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva).

Photo: JPI

Eve used drugs and torture techniques to try to drive Ben to kill Ciara as payback for him murdering her daughter, Paige (True O’Brien).  Weston was supported by some very fine scene partners in his performances: the aforementioned DePaiva, Konefal, and Kristian Alfonso (Hope); but it was Rob who drove the scenes and had the meatiest of material to play and boy, did he deliver.

Would Ben strangle his beloved Ciara with a necktie like his other previous victims? Wilson went from one minute being programmed to kill her, to another minute realizing he is in trouble … and so is Ciara’s life – so he tells her to lock the door of the bathroom and to not let him in! Although, as we saw, he eventually lost control and broke through the door and went to turn the lock reaching his hand from the outside to the inside. (Horror film moment!)

Later, when we see Ben crumpled on the floor in tears, Hope finds him, but her daughter is missing and Ben can’t recall what happened to her.  Fearing at first she killed Ciara, Hope is besides herself, and so is Ben.

From beat to beat, from turn to turn, Wilson was terrifying and heartbreaking all at the same time.  And with that, Michael Fairman TV names Rob Scott Wilson our choice for the Power Performance of the Week.

So, what did you think of Rob’s performance? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
