A tipsy Nathan almost tells Melanie he loves her when Stephanie interrupts. Stephanie and Melanie decide to take him back to Maggie’s to sober up. Upon their arrival, Nathan realizes he left his keys at the Brady Pub and Stephanie insists Melanie retrieve them. Melanie runs into Lucas, who tells her Nathan has been preoccupied over a certain woman. Meanwhile, Stephanie convinces Nathan that Melanie is deeply in love with Philip and is hugely excited about their upcoming wedding. When Melanie returns, Nathan abruptly leaves, unable to acknowledge his love for her. Alone with Stephanie, Nathan confides he can’t wait for Melanie’s wedding to be over. Later, Melanie tells Vivian she’s decided she can’t get married. Sami breaks from her passionate kiss with Rafe, unable to admit him back in her life. Rafe won’t take no for an answer and insists they were meant to be together. Meanwhile, Anna convinces EJ that he needs her. EJ can’t wait to disappear with Johnny and Sydney, and is delighted Sami’s break up with Rafe has caused her so much suffering. Vivian warns Victor about Kate. In turn, Victor tells Kate if she doesn’t behave he’ll make sure she’s not allowed at the wedding. Later, Kate tells Carly that she overheard Vivian talking about her and Melanie. Carly goes to Vivian, who reveals enough to convince her that she knows Melanie is her daughter. Carly races to find Melanie and warn her.

After an all night ice storm, Carly goes to the Kiriakis mansion to find Melanie, but slips and hits her head, knocking herself unconscious. At the hospital, Bo arrives and learns Carly has a concussion and slight amnesia – she can’t remember where she’s been. Later, Bo has to go out in the field and Carly slowly begins to remember her conversation with Kate regarding the connection between her, Vivian and Melanie and suddenly realizes why she was at the mansion. It was to protect her daughter from Vivian! Meanwhile, Vivian had Melanie spend the night to try talking some sense into her regarding her marriage to Philip. Clearly wanting to kill her at the wedding, Vivian does her best sell. She asks if there’s another man and Melanie admits there is. Later, Vivian paints a picture of how this guy clearly doesn’t love her and Melanie slowly gives in. Philip overhears Melanie say she wasn’t going to marry him, but she covers. Later, Vivian is about to place the comb in Melanie’s hair when Arianna and Stephanie interrupt them. Arianna slyly makes Vivian leave the room and the girls get Melanie ready for her wedding. Stephanie discovers the comb and nearly poisons herself but Vivian stops her just in time. Vivian learns Carly was at the mansion and gives Gus new instructions. Kate starts in on Philip and he orders his mom to leave him and Vivian alone. Kate refuses, but when Victor overhears her, he threatens her. He will find a way for Philip to cut Kate out of his life. Kate, in turn, goes to Hope, who has just rejoined the force, and talks about her concerns regarding the wedding, the gift, etc. Hope promises to look into it and later, she recalls running into Vivian with the gift and is extremely bothered. Brady calls Daniel on his desire to have kids. Daniel informs Brady it can’t happen. They discuss the option of adopting. Meanwhile, Chloe, loaded down with pregnancy tests, runs into Arianna. Arianna believes this to be a great thing, but Chloe isn’t so sure. Arianna urges her to talk to Daniel. Also, Daniel runs into Lucas and asks him to let Chloe spend some time with Allie. Lucas won’t agree to it and suggests Daniel and Chloe start a family of their own.

Meanwhile, Maggie is having a hard time on her anniversary and calls to say she won’t be able to make it to the wedding. Chloe learns that she is pregnant! She tries to tell Daniel, but is unsuccessful. Melanie writes Nathan a letter, desperate to know his true feelings. She asks a reluctant Stephanie to deliver it. At the same time, Nathan goes to see Maggie and lends her the strength she needs to be able to be there for Melanie. At the hospital, Stephanie can’t resist temptation and winds up reading the letter just as Nathan catches her with it. Stephanie keeps Melanie’s letter from Nathan. After Stephanie leaves for the wedding, Daniel advises Nathan to talk to Melanie if he still has feelings for her. Vivian, via TV, reveals to Carly her plan to kill Melanie at the wedding. Vivian places the comb in Melanie’s hair, making sure Carly witnesses the fateful moment. After, Melanie feels strangely woozy, and believes it to be stress. In the basement, Carly is horrified, and with a mother’s superhuman strength, attacks Gus. Back at the wedding, Stephanie returns and tells Melanie that Nathan refused to read the letter. Melanie passes out cold on the floor while everyone waits for her to make her entrance down stairs. Hope notices a receipt Victor dropped that helps her put all the pieces together. Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Stacy Haiduk and Linsey Godfrey Deliver ‘The Power Performance of the Week’

Fans of Days of our Lives knew when the mother of all showdowns was going to go down, it would be the payoff they had waited for – the rightful bio-mom would finally hold her baby in her arms!

In emotional and top-notch performances from Stacy Haiduk (Kristen) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah), Kristen finally comes face-to-face with baby Rachel, who Sarah had kidnapped, although Sarah believed for so long that she was raising her daughter, MacKenzie.   When she learned the bombshell truth, that the child was not hers and that her baby died, she took off with the little one to Europe.

On last Tuesday’s episode, an overwrought and pissed Kristen tells Sarah: “Where the hell do you think you’re going with my baby?”  Sarah calls the child her daughter.  Trying to reason with her Kristen knows Sarah loves Rachel.  Then, Sarah goes on how she was there from the beginning and helped the baby through cancer.  Kristen knows and appreciates that, but also says it should have been her that was doing all of that, and all of those moments and more were stolen from her.

Sarah calls out Kristen and says she is incapable of being a good mother. Cornered Sarah says she will scream if Kristen tries to take Rachel out of her arms.  Kristen relates that her baby is alive and she’s so very sorry that her joy is Sarah’s mourning. Kristen truly thanks Sarah for everything she’s done the entire time to raise her little girl,  But, she asks Sarah to please hand over her child.  Sobbing, Sarah finally does just that.

Next, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Xander (Paul Telfer) show up at the scene, and for the first time, Brady and Kristen hold their daughter. Their joy turns to more sorrow when they realize Kristen can never go back to Salem. If she does, she will be sent to prison for stabbing Victor (John Aniston).   When Brady agrees to disappear with her, Kristen won’t  let him do that.  Brady says that if he has to let her go to protect her and their child, he will step aside.  In another heartbreaking moment, Brady tells Rachel he loves her and says his heart will be with her, always.  Kristen promises to give her the life she deserves and the two say goodbye!

Later, Sarah returns to Abigail and Chad’s apartment where she tells Rex (Kyle Lowder) what happened and that she handed over the baby. She cries as Rex holds her as Xander (Paul Telfer) arrives, and Sarah is not-to-pleased to see him!

All complex emotional scenes, that is why Michael Fairman TV names Stacy and Linsey are Power Performances of the Week.  Let us know what you thought of their big scenes via the comment section below.

DAYS Eric Martsolf and Stephen Nichols Named ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Last week’s Days of our Lives provided quite the backdrop for some stellar performances, as we had previously noted earlier in the week here.   However, there were a few scenes and moments that just stood out to us, that even when we watched them back for a second or third time, still got us choked up.

First, Daytime Emmy winner, Eric Martsolf (Brady) really deserves some major kudos here for his understated and effective work when Brady is finally given the truth – that his daughter Rachel is alive – and his brother Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) child, Mickey is the one who really died in a nefarious baby switch scheme thanks to Xander (Paul Telfer) and Victor (John Aniston).

Not only did Martsolf convey the joy that his daughter was alive juxtaposed with months of angst that preceded it, but he also showed the heartbreak knowing that Eric and Sarah’s (Linsey Godfrey) child did not survive.  In scenes with Arianne Zucker (Nicole), Greg Vaughan, and later with Stacy Haiduk (Kristen), where Brady tells Kristen their child is alive, Martsolf delivered.

Then, there was Stephen Nichols (Steve), who did what he does best, showing the vulnerability of Steve Johnson.  In key scenes following surgery to rid Steve’s head of the chip that made him believe and act like Stefano, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) tries to explain her new relationship with Justin (Wally Kurth).  That alone is a shocking moment for Steve … and then he cannot understand how his sister and Justin broke up.  That is when Kayla has to tell Steve that his beloved sister, Adrienne (Judi Evans) had passed away a year ago following a tragic car crash.

Steve is overcome with emotion and tears, as any brother would be who loves his sister, which made this all the more realistic.  It was heartbreaking watching Steve try to deal with finding out Adrienne was gone and then blaming himself for not being there for her.  It was made all the more hankie-inducing in a later scene, when he hugged his brother Jack (Matthew Ashford), as the two mourned the loss of their sibling.

Heartbreaking DAYS: Steve Learns Adrienne Died, An Anguished Sarah Lays Into Xander, Brady Tells Kristen Their Baby Is Alive

If you caught Tuesday’s episode of Days of our Lives, it proved to be one of the more dramatic and emotional episodes of the year in soaps; featuring stellar performances from the cast.  First, knocking it out of the park was Stephen Nichols (Steve), who while in the hospital and regaining his true self back, learns from the love of his life, his sweetness, Kayla (Mary Beth), that she has moved on with another man in his absence.  Then, when Kayla admits she has been involved with Justin (Wally Kurth), he immediately questions her, “What about my sister? Did they split up again?” Confused and shocked, he tells Kayla she would never have an affair on Justin.  With nothing left to do but tell Steve the truth, Kayla has the painstaking task of telling him that his beloved sister, Adrienne died and the events that led to her death. Steve is gut-punched and breakdowns in tears over his sister’s death and that he was not there for her.  When Steve says she was such a good sister it is crushing moment as he says he will always love her.

Later, when Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Jack (Matthew Ashford) visit Steve in his hospital room, Steve hides his face.  Jack learns that Steve knows about Adrienne, as he sees Steve just overcome with grief, and goes to hug and comfort his brother.  Jack also tried to help Steve understand how Justin was devastated when Adrienne was killed and that Kayla was grieving the loss of her relationship with Steve, knowing she signed the divorce papers and he went MIA from Salem and did not contact her.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) is supposed to start her wedding to Xander  (Paul Telfer), but now she is armed with the truth that he switched her and Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) baby, with Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) … and her little girl actually died.  As Justin presides over their nuptials, Sarah is filled with moments of anger, hatred, and shock towards Xander.  He is not sure what is going on with her.  When it gets to the vows, Sarah finally blurts  “How could I marry you after what you did?” It is then he learns she knows he switched babies and let her fall in love with a child that was not hers!

Sarah reveals to Xander that Eric told her everything on how he covered his tracks and passed off Brady and Kristen’s baby as hers, Justin leaves and once he’s gone, Xander tries to explain he did the switch for her, because he loves her and she had gone through so much.  Sarah, who is an emotionally fragile state, hears Xander suggest that they take Mickey and run away.  She tells him she is going upstairs with Mickey (Rachel) and when she comes down she wants him gone and she never wants to see him again.  Realizing he has been found out and his plans have blown up in his face, Xander collapses to the floor.  Upstairs with the baby, Sarah doesn’t know how to let her go.  And in the cliffhanger of the entire episode, an overwrought Xander turns and sees that Eric has showed up, ready for a confrontation …. and to see Sarah.

Brady, who has been through an emotional rollercoaster learning from Eric and Nicole (Arianne Zuvker) that baby Rachel is alive, and that it is now his brother, Eric who is grieving the loss of a child, goes to find Kristen to tell her the shocking, and yet wonderful news.  He finds her at the gravesite of their believed-to-be-dead daughter.  As she continue to grieve the loss of their child, it is then Brady tells her that their little girl is alive!. Kristen begins to understand the revelation when Brady reveals that “Mackenzie” has the same birthmark as Rachel. and he has DNA test results to prove she’s theirs.  At first, Kristen is too scared to believe this could be true, but she reads the DNA results and is overjoyed.  Just then, Eric and Nicole arrive at the gravesite. Brady hugs his brother and Kristen tells Eric how sorry she is, even though she knows he does not like her for what she has done in the past to him.   Then, Eric and Nicole have a moment at the gravesite, as an emotional Eric says goodbye to his daughter.

Later at their home, Kristen says she wants to go get Rachel.  Brady says they need to give Sarah and Eric a day to grieve before barging over to the Kiriakis mansion to claim their baby.  Kristen tells Brady she is not sure she can wait another day.  When she starts questioning how the hospital messed up the birth of the babies, it is then she learns that Xander was behind the baby switch; and as expected, that was not going to sit well with Kristen!
