The secret is out, confirmed, and now the next step is for fans of NBC’s Days of our Lives to get their first look at Daytime Emmy winner, and soap vet Vincent Irizarry in his new role as Deimos on the daytime drama series come mid-January!

After having to hold the big news for over a month, Irizarry took to his facebook page to relate his thanks and support to his long time fans and supporters who have continually rallied for this talented acting gem.

Vincent posted: “Finally!!! I’m able to share with all of you what I’ve been excitedly holding in for over a month now, that I’ve joined all the incredibly talented people in Salem over at Days of our Lives!! I honestly couldn’t be happier to be working with such wonderfully gifted people, all of whom who have been so warm and welcoming. I’m equally thrilled to be playing a character I’ve already loved playing these past weeks, with scripts that have been so wonderful, I’m excited each time I open a new one to find out what the writers have in store for me next, and alongside actors I have so much respect for. What a true, absolute pleasure it’s all been!!! Thank you so much, all of you, for your tireless support of me and my work throughout all these years together. I’m truly, truly touched by the overwhelming expressions of kind thoughts and well wishes by so many of you throughout all the social media outlets. As it has been throughout so many times in my life working on shows such as this, because of you all, my cup truly runneth over… Can’t wait to see you all in Salem!!! ‪#‎DaysOfOurLives‬”

What did you think of Vincent’s message? Excited to see the actor who has wowed audiences on Guiding Light, Santa Barbara, The Young and the Restless, and All My Children shake up Salem?  Comment below!

DAYS is really on fire. Please do not drop the ball, DAYS team, with too much stunt casting or lack of solid stories involving core families and histories. DAYS remembers the humanity better than the others. I like Salem more because it reminds me more of the lost ATWT and AMC.

Congrats to Vincent Irizarry. I am not familiar with his work because I didn’t watch those other soaps during his time there. But I wish him well in Salem!

I have missed Vincent Irizarry for years from AMC. I’m so glad he’s coming back to us on this show. I just hope they don’t hook him up with Sami. (I know, broken record: I really don’t like that train wreck of self-centeredness and destruction, Just my opinion and fear.) But I’ll be so glad to see him!!

I can see them putting him with Eve or Jennifer maybe. Vincent has chemistry with almost everyone. He and Finola Hughes were my favorite until Lindsay Hartley joined AMC and became Cara Castillo. I so wish that they had not killed off Arianna!

I can’t wait to see him share scenes with Judi Evans since I was a huge Lujack and Beth fan when he and Judi were on Guiding Light

They’re really getting a lot of great actors. The downside is we have to wait another 6 months before we see him onscreen!

When Prospect Park’s poor attempt at reviving ALL MY CHILDREN On-line failed, I felt badly for actors who were misled and left in the lurch, including Vincent in his role of a calculating Doctor. I am glad to see that he has been picked up by DOOL, I knew it would just be a matter of time before someone snatched him up –
he will be a welcomed addition to Days.

He is a wonderful actor and I hope they won’t cast him as a villain no one will like. Although he can handle any role they give him.

I am SO looking forward to his arrival. He has really been missed in daytime.

If there is one other actress I would like to see join the show, it is Colleen Zenk. I think she is a powerhouse, stunning woman.

Not a Days fan but I am a big fan of V.I. I never understood why he was not picked up earlier. I wanted him to go to Y&R. I have gotten bored with Y&R and no longer watch. I am enjoying Dynasty and The Doctors reruns. I never watched those two soaps so I am having a lot of fun watching them. I am still missing AMC and wish it would come back with Vincent!

Beloved Soap Stars Left Out of 2021 Primetime Emmy Broadcast In-Memoriam Tribute

Last night, during the presentation of the 73rd annual Primetime Emmys broadcast on CBS, the annual In-Memoriam segment brought with it so many households names in a year that saw so many legacy talents and more pass away.

The tribute was performed by Leon Bridges and Jon Batiste to Bridge’s song, “River”, and as the images of the departed played across the screens from Cloris Leachman to Cicely Tyson, to Ed Asner to Michael K. Williams, and more, it was clear that several of the major late daytime soap stars were not included in the on-air tribute as well as other omissions.

Now granted, we know they will all be a part of next year’s 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in-memoriam segment, but still these actors were a part of this community and not only appeared on the soaps, but other shows as well.

Those that daytime fans noticed were not included were: Michael Nader (Ex-Dex Dexter and Dimitri Marick, Dynasty and All My Children) Stuart Damon (Ex-Alan Quartermaine, General Hospital), Ray MacDonnell (Ex-Joe Martin, All My Children) and Jay Pickett (Ex-Frank Scanlon, Port Charles).

From primetime MIA action were: Michael Constantine (Ex-Room 222), Tanya Roberts (Ex-Charlie’s Angeles), Director, Richard Donner, writer Larry McMurty, and DMX, to name but a few.

However, the Television Academy did list all of its members who died on their website in the In-Memoriam section, because due to time constraints, they could not possibly showcase everyone.

What do you feel about the omissions of Nader, Damon, MacDonnell, Pickett, and more from the In-Memoriam tribute? Let us know in the comment section, but first watch the segment.

AMC Alum Sarah Michelle Gellar Reflecting on Her Time on Soaps: “Anything I Can Do to Continue the Legacy I’m Very Proud Of”

Daytime fans knew of Sarah Michelle Gellar her way before her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, when she stepped on to the small screen as Erica’s (Susan Lucci) troubled daughter Kendall Hart on ABC’s All My Children.

Gellar played the role from 1993 to 1995, and made a brief return in 2011 as the show came to its conclusion on ABC. Additionally, Sarah won a Daytime Emmy for her performance in the Outstanding Younger Actress category in 1995.

Sarah has partnered with Lysol for their brand’s Disinfecting Wipes “Buy One, Donate One” program. where now through September 26, whenever a pack of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes is purchased, another pack will automatically be donated to an under-resourced school through the Kids In Need Foundation.

The program is aimed to help curb the spread of illness-causing germs in schools this back-to-school season, a total of up to 16 million packs of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes will be donated to Title I schools across the country.

The program is the latest component of Lysol’s HERE for Healthy Schools initiative. Started in 2019 with the mission to help curb the spread of preventable illness and to help kids miss less school so they are able to learn, grow and thrive, HERE for Healthy Schools has provided educational materials for students and Lysol disinfecting supplies for educators and administrators to more than 49,000 schools across the country. This year, HERE for Healthy Schools is focused on helping to protect children, educators and parents as they make their big return to in-person learning in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with TV Insider on the partnership, Gellar recalled her time on the soaps and how it changed her career and outlook, noting: “it was the training ground for the rest of my career.”

She went on to say: “I made incredible friends at that time and I learned incredible work habits, and soap operas are an intense amount of work, and I’m incredibly grateful for that time and the people that I met.  We live in a world now where my kids don’t even really know what a soap opera is, so anything I can do to continue the legacy I’m very proud of.”

So, do you remember Sarah’s time on AMC? What do you think of her thoughts on her time on the soaps? Comment below.
