The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced on Monday that Daytime Emmy Award-nominated and two-time News & Documentary Emmy Award-winning journalist Deborah Norville will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Honor at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, taking place October 17 in Pasadena, California.

With a remarkable career spanning more than 45 years, including three decades as anchor of Inside Edition, Norville is the longest-serving female anchor in American television history. Under her leadership, Inside Edition became the nation’s number one daily newsmagazine and one of the top five programs in first-run syndication.

“It’s an honor to celebrate Deborah Norville’s extraordinary career,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS. “Her legacy extends beyond her historic tenure; she’s brought intelligence, integrity, and compassion to her reporting, shaping how millions of viewers understand the world around them.”

Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Deborah Norville added, “When I first walked into a newsroom as a college student, I couldn’t have imagined a journey that would span more than four decades, take me around the globe, and introduce me to so many remarkable people. The Lifetime Achievement Honor is an extraordinary capstone, and I am grateful to NATAS, my colleagues, and the viewers who have welcomed me into their homes for so many years.”

Norville joined Inside Edition in 1995 after a distinguished run at CBS News as an anchor and correspondent. She also served as co-host of NBC’s Today, anchor of NBC News at Sunrise, and the host of Deborah Norville Tonight on MSNBC. Norville was also the host of the nationally syndicated Deborah Norville Show on the ABC Talk Radio Network.

In addition, Norville’s journalism career began at WAGA-TV in Atlanta while still a student at the University of Georgia. This fall, she returns to television as host of The Perfect Line a new syndicated game show from CBS Media Ventures, while her former position as host of Inside Edition is taken over officially on-air tonight on the August 18th episode by GMA3’s former co-host, Eva Pilgrim.

Deborah is also a best-selling author and she currently serves on the board of the Broadcasters Foundation of America and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Women Corporate Directors, and the New York Women’s Forum. She also appeared on The Young and the Restless back in 2003.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, and entertainment news.

This year marks the debut of several new categories, including Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series, Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, and Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre.

The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held as a single ceremony this year on October 17, 2025, and is produced by NATAS. Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong serve as executive producers, with Rachel Schwartz as the Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards.

So, what do you think of the decision to honor Deborah Norville with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards? The naming of Norville receiving the night’s most distinguish honor follows John Aniston (ex-Victor, Days of our Lives) in 2022, Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children) and Maury Povich in 2023, and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, The Young and the Restless), Edward J. Scott, and Lidia Bastianich in 2024. Comment below.

  • My blood pressure is through the roof. How could the academy not give the award to Deidre Hall? She has no emmy, next year she celebrates 50 years joining the show.I will not watch this garbage award show. The exclusion of Bold and Beautiful in the best drama and and actor categories is outrageous. Also,Best court show nominees have 2 court shows that are phony actor court shows produced by byron allen.Best Legal court show with nominees that are phony shows. How could Collen Zenk not be nominated for best guest performer along with judith chapman. It is disgusting.I want this academy to change the nomination process. The problem is the actors do not watch the other shows. They do not know everyones work. The people like Michael and soap opera digest, daytime confidential and soap central should pick the nominees!
