General Hospital
Debut of Katie Couric's New Talker revealed as Sept 10th! The future of The Revolution & General Hospital remains in question!
Looks like Katie Couric’s new talk show, Katie is finally sharing some major production updates … one of which is the new afternoon series has it’s official launch date, September 10th, 2012. The soon-to-be live weekday show has already been cleared in 94% of the country. And so a programming decision will have to be made by the network concerning what series to cancel, The Revolution or General Hospital, since Katie has nabbed GH’s time slot on ABC-owned and operated stations around the U.S.
Katie, executive producer Jeff Zucker, in an internal webcast to television stations that will air the talker, unveiled the show’s logo, and announced additions to the senior production staff including Director Joe Terry, who has spent the last 14 years as Director for The Oprah Winfrey Show and Co-Executive Producer Kathy Samuels. Samuels is a producer with nearly 20 years of television experience, including live television and daytime talk show programming at NBC, Paramount Domestic, and CBS, and has been a part of several successful launch teams, including Rachael Ray and Access Hollywood.
The webcast was conducted from TV One at ABC’s Manhattan headquarters, which will serve as home to the Katie set. The studio itself has a rich history, having served as the backdrop to the Kennedy/Nixon Presidential debates. Katie will broadcast live, weekdays in front of a studio audience.
“Katie and I are thrilled to share these updates with our partners and Katie’s fans,” said Zucker. “We now have our studio, a great-looking logo that exudes all of the qualities that we want the show to convey, and a terrific team with a diverse background of experience. We couldn’t be more excited about September 10. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
So as Katie makes her way into the daytime landscape arming herself with a powerful behind the scene teams, it would seem like a no-brainer for ABC to keep the surging General Hospital and cut their losses with low rated, The Revolution. But again, as we have all unfortunately learned, it does not matter how many loyal fans in the millions a soap has or the quality of the show. We hope the network may have learned from their mistakes.
However, remember Katie has come out and said she wants GH as her lead-in, not The Revolution! And clearly, there is a big built-in audience for her with the soap, which is surely lacking with The Revolution. Let us know your thoughts!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.

If ABC cancels GH with the ratings The Revolution have recently shown, I will never ever watch ABC.
I won’t either, not even primetime.
Agree, will give up GMA, View, Greys, Priv Prac, DWTS, Castle, Sunday A.M. George, WN Diane, OUAT, BOP, and more. ABC has already made the worst business decision possible by cxld AMC and OLTL, if they cut GH there will be no reason at all for me to watch anything on ABC ever again. I’m done with them for good if they cancel GH.
ditto!
ABC Daytime will be dead to me if they cancel GH.
It makes me SOMEWHAT hopeful this wont occur if Katie prefers GH to be the lead in to her show. It may mean she’ll pick up a fan base of grateful soap fans in the process!!!
Love the timing though….just learned today that Ricki Lakes’ show also starts in Sept, and FYI, she’s cleared for 96% of the market she’s in. I think they might be in compting time slots in some market, but not positive.
TV viewing is gonna get VERY interesting in the Fall!!!
I really feel Katie is the only person standing between GH and cancellation and that she has kind of gone from network to network and really has not caught on with viewers, and I really think this is her best oppurtunity to create a good relationship with a lasting audience, and i think she is smart enough to realize that.
I would consider watching Katie’s show only if GH is not canceled. Without GH I have no reason to turn on ABC during the daytime.
I agree. Come on, Katie. Please help us save General Hospital! Daytime viewers are the most loyal viewers out there!
Yeah,I agree with you,Jennifer… I’m big fan of GH for 31 before Robin Scorpio’s debut in 1985. Come on,Kate, don’t let us down or shut us down.. I did email to Paul Lee and told him our heart goes to General Hospital crew, writers, and famous great cast like Marice,Anthony(Luke) Geary and other great cast to put up good show and storyline are fantastic, too YAY!!!! 🙂 I told him let soap fans speak out to him or ABC, what’s their head and be smarter thing to do.
If Katie can persuade them to keep GH, I might watch her show, other than that, after GH is gone, NO MOUSE IN MY HOUSE, EVER AGAIN!!! Including Disney and any affiliations with the RAT CHANNEL!!!
I agree with Tammy, if they keep GH, maybe I would stay to watch Katie. If she had interesting guests on. Otherwise not interested, not really into news programming talk shows.
But once GH is gone, so is any loyalty or reason to watch ABC
biggest mistake abc did was let the rat channel buy them,I will never change my mind about katie couric I just dont like her.since they cancelled all my children and One life to live I have been boycotting abc/disney and I will continue to do so ,I watch general hospital at 3 then as soon as it is over that channel gets changed quickly.
hey barbara… remember when ABC was thee channel to watch?
Sunday was ABC Sports – the agony and defeat. Daytime was soaps, game shows… Dating Game, Newlywed Game, Let’s Make a Deal, $10,000 Pyramid, Password, Match Game
AMC, Dark Shadows, OLTL, Ryan’s Hope, Edge of NIght…
Remember their after school specials and how about those School House Rocks!
And years of great primetime shows – shows that stayed on for many, many seasons…. it’s all gone!
wikipedia’s outline for ABC includes this: 1965-1969: Success 1969-1985: Rising to the Top… and few years later, 1996-2003: Disney purchase and network decline and 2007-present: the writer’s strike and loss of steam
yeah – they need to put out bait and rat traps and get rid of what’s ruined them!
and did you know this — “In March 2010, Disney has considered spinning ABC off into an independent broadcasting company because, “it doesn’t add a lot of value to Disney’s other divisions.” um, excuse me, mr. IGOR, but you rats haven’t added any value to ABC!
Wiki says – They entered advanced negotiations with two private equity firms to sell ABC; however, the sale was canceled because of an attempted insider trade to the FBI by an ex-employee. What?
so from 2010 to present – do you think they’re tanking ABC on purpose?
Can anyone trump the Rat and resuscitate ABC?
like i said in other posts that i wrote. decision time in april for general hospital. there will be an annoucement and we have to take a really deep breath. hope for the best. if they cancel general hospital im done with abc for good. now its getting really good. picking up steam. abc listen to us please for once. please pick up general hospital for at least 2 or 3 years more. and its ratings will get bigger and bigger. cancel that horrible dreadful revolution. the worst show and horrible hosts. all gh fans like me and every else lets see what abs does. if they cancel our soap. there will be angry people including me. lets pray they renew our soap. katie couric get a life missy. you have enough money to live on. you are so annoying katie. i was a fan of katie when she was on the today show. when she left to go to cbs news everything changed for me. she got greedy and i was allergic in whatching her on cbs. big rumour right now. hopefully its true. jackie zeman could be back as bobbie spencer sooner than later. michael fairman love your interviews and im a big fan of yours.
” katie couric get a life missy. ” Lmao!
Bob Igler made a statement earlier. IMO (and I have really stayed positive) this show is over unless it gets picked up elswehere. He made excuses for The Revolution stating it will take time to pick up.. He isn’t giving up on getting rid of his final soap show. Personally, I think he is afraid to make the official announcement GH is cancelled until after May sweeps.
WHEN will we know if GH continues?????? THis waiting is a big, royal pain. I’m not a Katie Couric fan so I’m not going to be tuning in. I want soaps, not talk shows!!!!
Too many talk shows on already with even more on the way! They’re cheap! We need more scripted shows but they cost more so there won’t be as much $$$ left for the jerks running the networks who don’t care what we want!
I would hope that by now they have learned that Soap fans are serious when they say they will or will not watch something. Keeping GH on the air means Katie gets us as possible viewers.
Congrats, Katie on having one of the only shows that will have 6-month heads-up on a boycott before it even debuts. No one will watch this. ABC Daytime is a vast wasteland. When GH is off the air, I’ll tune out for good.
whoopie doo!! go home katie…no one wants another humdrum B~O~R~I~N~G talk show..theyve been rammed down our throats enuff…we have more news than ALL the worlds newspapers combined! Give it a rest…your ABC stole our Americana n we as a grp and as fans of Soaps…will never stop until true TV is returned…or brought to CABLE where our $$ paid stations give us what we pay for. ABC/Dismaldisney have ruined the ratings for themselves..boycott all the way…dare take GH off n ABC will b a ghost town…you alone cant have a gazillion followers to save abc…retirE from abc hunny….youll thank us later on! SOAPS NOT DOPES!
If Jeff Sucker is stupid enough to cancel GH and not The Revolution he should be fired. And as for Katie, I certainly hope she fights for a GH lead-in. I’m not a big fan of hers, but think she is smart enough to know that she will make some enemies of viewers if GH is cancelled, her fault or not.
We will not watch ABC anymore if they cancel General Hospital!! We have enought talk shows on tv, if they want to put on another one then cancel the Revolution and put katie there. DO NOT take the place of General Hospital!!!
I hate the waiting. If GH gets cancelled then I will never have another reason to watch ABC again.
ABC is the channel I watch the most: General Hospital, Modern Family, Happy Endings, The River, and so on. But I swear I’ll drop them all if they cancel GH over The Revolution. It would be worst than a slap to the face; it would be saying: “we’d rather take the worst show ever with the worst ratings ever than to keep a soap” and that would be bad business. I won’t encourage a sinking ship if that’s the mentality behind ABC and Disney.
Anne Sweeney, keep your words, you said you’d keep the most successful shows around, and lo and behold, that happens to be GH. So tough luck, try cancelling next year if you find better by then.
ABC WAS the channel I watched the most… see above how good ABC used to be…
i’m preparing to be disappointed – again – by Disney execs in charge
i’ll be heartbroken of course – OLTL was my all time favorite, GH was 2nd to me… but to lose again so soon after the other – like a nail in the soap opera coffin! and to me… that would be the final nail in any viewing of anything on ABC until Disney doesn’t run them anymore, and they get someone who cares about fans back in charge, and until they put soap operas into production…. cold day?
but I’d be thrilled if they decide to keep GH on tho!
but I’m prepared to watch CBS or NBS for a good soap – or I”ll just watch old OLTL and GH episodes (I have gobs) over and over, til i’m too old to figure out my dvd remote! ha!
you sure do your homework,I remember when abc was a class network, sad where it stands today, this is a reply from march 16 9:54 pm.Ive been boycotting abc/disney will continue to do so If they cancel general hospital I will be done .its sad that the soaps were destroyed because of money but what really bothers me is abc/disneys prime time shows ,ther will be alot of so called soaps on ,why couldnt they have just put one life to live and all my children on in the evening ?to bad they cared so little for us soap fans ,and as someone else said here not once did they thank us .
I’m sure, you will,Christy. I still taping everyday until Sept. 7. I love GH all my life since I was 16 years old kid becomes 47 years old man who like to watch quite adventure of Robert Scorpio and Frisco Jones!!! 🙂 not kiss or smooching stuff.. yucky(lol)
They better cancel The Revolution that show has been crap the very day it started…No one likes it and will never like it…. It makes sense to cancel The Revolution… But, ABC has no common sense!!!!!!!!!! They better make the right deceision with this one..And keep GH on abc…………..I have alway’s watched the soaps on abc for years…..Had no interest in changing…, ABC has 2 stikes on them already… I hope they are not stupid enough to make it three strikes!!!!!!! I am pissed off with them already because of OLTL….Never watched Katie Couric and I’m not going to start………..I stick to my guns about not watching Katie Couric…Keep GH on daytime where it BELONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again, they better make the right deceision & keep GH on over The Revolution CRAP SHOW !!!!!!!! That show sounds soooooooo BORING.. The whole concept is BORING.. (making wallpaper from children’s art))) . GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!! It insullts your intelligence…………..It’s that DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep GH on the T. V. ABC or prepare for WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i’ll watch katie if GH is still on, but chances of me tuning in to see katie are zero chance if its after the Revulsion. and i’ll give up the view too.
this katie couric stuff has me so upset I changed my daily e mail to abc/disney ,telling them to stop the head games and spit it out ,I want to know one way or the other if general hospital is gone,Im sure while I am writing this they are sending me my daily e mail telling me how much they care (THEY DONT) and how many letters they receive and cant answer them all, same thing every day well I wont give up. I do believe they should make up there minds just do it or dont.just respect us soap fans a little bit ,we have a right to know one way or the other,I hate abc/disney.
If GH goes so do I. No more ABC in my house, nothing. If Katie is smart she will make sure GH stays or the backlash is going to be ugly.
If those ABC/Disney executives have any brains at all they will dump that revolting Revolution and leave us General Hospital, If they want to slit their throats for the 3rd and final time, they might as well kiss ABC goodbye, look at the ratings now, THEY WILL GET WORSE, THAT IS INEVITABLE, LOOK AT THE NIELSENS now overall, they are one from the bottom already!!!!!
thats the problem with abc/disney they dont have any brains, there ratings are low ,I love that there doing bad in prime time to.I will never watch abc/disney again ,I watch general hospital thats it ,if that goes ,I wont have to worry about anything on that network.there programming is going downhill fast, when they choose to get rid of all my children and one life to live it shows they lost any class they ever had.money over the classic soaps ,you bet there isnt anyone at abc/disney with any brain power.
I think you should leave on GH since it has bee on much longer than the Revolution, Its has a much better following. Don;t take all the entertaonment from us older folks.
Sincerely Barbara
Maybe this is why Katie said to cancel The Revolution and keep General Hospital. As a soap fan, especially One Life To Live, I am not ready to sacrifice one show for another. I still want One Life To Live back. I don’t watch General Hospital, but I do keep it on to support the genre. But I don’t want to sacrifice one for another either. I hope that ABC brings back One Life To Live. I will NEVER watch anything that goes in it’s time slot. I don’t care what it is. Won’t watch!
There is no reason to cancel GH…give us a break. You have a 4pm time slot to fill so fill it with Katie. Have some loyality and consideration to the loyal fans of GH. We have been supporting the show for 40 years now show us some respect and consideration. ABC needs to listen up and understand that your ratings are dropping because of shows like the revolution, the chew and now katie, not because of GH or OLTL. Stop the nonsense and save GH. Theres enough to worry about in life and its nice to come home to relax infront of your tv to watch a fictional storyline from great writers. Enough with reality tv and keep airing fantasy tv like GH!!!!!
If ABC has ANY hope to stay alive, they will keep GH. If they make this HUGE mistake and cancels GH..then for me, they are done. I will eliminate all of ABC on all my remotes for all my TVs. ABC will be cancelled. just sayin’….
One of the worst days of my life was watching the last episode of “Another World” on June 25th, 1999 because I had been watching it for over 25 years, every day..without fail. I don’t think people who don’t watch soaps quite understand the ones that do. Watching a soap is unlike watching anything else, period. You adopt a whole bunch of characters into your life as family. You see them interact with each other every day, for 5 hours a week, that’s way more than any other scripted 1-hour weekly shows. You forge a bond with these people and among other things, it gives you something to look forward to every single day. Let’s face it, life is quite chaotic and sometimes downright painful. But many people find solace in turning on their favorite soap opera every day. I’ve never forgiven NBC for cancelling my all-time favorite show AW to make room for the stupid and totally ridiculous show “Passions”, which never picked up any kind of audience and was quickly canned. I have also been watching GH now for over 30 years and I swear to God I will never watch one single minute of any ABC or Disney-related programming if the almost 50-year old show gets cancelled to make room for another needless talk show! People need getaway and fantasy in our world today. We need an escapade to a different place where people come back from the dead, where fairy tale weddings take place, where interesting family dynamics of diverse characters keep us tuning in for more every day. I very firmly feel that if GH gets cancelled this year, it will cause a major uproar from decades-long viewers, and ABC, still reeling from the backlash of the demise of OLTL and AMC, will collapse, and perhaps rightfully so. I would sure love to know if any petition has been started to keep GH on the air.
i watched OLTL from the beginning and same with GH… thank god I’ve taped so many shows and kept them, I’ve got some of my old friends to watch whenever I miss them!
ABC used to be a great channel. Disney has changed that for sure! Aren’t there any relatives of Walt’s around that we could write to? and boy would they get an earful!
If General hospital is dropped, Katie will fail.
and this general hospital fan will help katie fail ,If general hospital is canceled ,there will be no reason for me to watch that network ever again.I dont get it ,I will never understand why abc/disney wants a women who brought the ratings down for the cbs news,if katie was a cute as she thinks she is the nightly news would have been no problem for her ,she was a disaster and they had no choice but to keep her for 3 long, boring years, shes a joke and she was paid good and now the rat channel will pay her 20 million, that 20 million could have gone to the soaps, because she is not worth that amount of money.I hope abc/disney looses big time in there choice of daytime programming.
I have only started watching GH since the integration of the OLTL characters. And I’m still beyond angry with ABC for canceling OLTL and AMC (even though I didn’t watch it). For over 30 years I’ve watched one soap or another (including The Doctors, AW, DOOL, Sunset Beach, Port Charles, OLTL and now GH). I love the soaps and I agree with so many who’ve already posted how wonderful it is to ESCAPE reality and delve into our fictional world. It is so very sad that the soap opera genre seems to be slowly dying, despite the large fan base. What is wrong with these networks? Oh, that’s right – they don’t care about us.
Dear ABC,
Don’t be completely stupid and make another terrible decision. DO NOT CANCEL GH!!!!!!! And while you’re at it – bring back OLTL and AMC. The Spew and The Revulsion are dreadful shows. I am truly embarrassed for you that you would cancel a high quality show like OLTL for such drivel as The Revulsion.
Yes, I know you won’t bring OLTL back. But please do not cancel your last remaining soap opera. Well, not unless you want a few million LESS viewers. If that’s the case, then go for it. With Cable and Satellite and the plethora of channels available these days – not to mention all the shows available to watch online – you can rest assured that if you do cancel GH, you will LOSS a substantial amount of viewers. COMPLETELY.
So, the choice is yours.
Choose wisely. (Hint: Soap opera fans are some of the most loyal fans around!!!)
Poor Walt must be rolling over in his grave at some of these business decisions made by Disney. Katie and others certainly can’t be feeling good about the hemorrage of soap viewers after the cancellation of OLTL. This information does not bode well for the debut of her show. Talk shows are struggling too (bye bye Rosie, Nate; Anderson is hanging on by a thread) and she can’t afford a weak leadin.
Here’s the bottom line for me. IF GH is cancelled, I will no longer watch ABC programming. IF GH is spared, I will give Katie’s show a fair try and I will watch the primetime shows I like (Revenge and Greys). Sorry ABC, I will never, ever, ever watch The Spew or Revultion.
Why don’t we fans, organize a News Conference in April; start planning it, giving people planning time to travel by train, motor cycle, plane etc…. We need to take our voices on camera LIVE. We can’t WAIT until aabc cancels GH, we have to GET STARTED now…… ! It will be broadcaste across the country to all the stations, local and affiliates and it will surely dampen Katie’s chances even more of other affiliates picking up her show. The Powers That Be, they HAVE TO start HEARING us and SEEING…….. us. We need to head to New York for a OPEN PROTEST.
Go away talk shows!! How many more are you gonna put on tv?!? We have enough already!! Katie has proven she cannot keep a steady job..enough of her! and all the other talk shows. Maybe soaps aren’t the answer either, but in our everyday crazy lives they are a nice way to focus on the fantasy world. The old commercial “calgon, take me away” is what soaps do for some of us..they take us away for just a little while so we can forget our problems for a half hour or an hour..what a nice escape! If I want therapy, I’ll watch a soap, not another talk show..And, yes, I too will be done with ABC and I have never cared for Katie, and if you’ve seen one talk show, you’ve seen them all!!
Hey ,I’d be the first person to say I like Katie – but Isn’t she a night time anchor ?
How much of a market share does she need to have?
Cancel that ridiculous Revolution and keep GH.
ABC/Disney Company if you will not bring back AMC and OLTL to their loyal fans you should at least let us have General Hospital to enjoy. We like the temporary escape this type of programming gives us. We have been loyal for decades! Why oh why do you want to turn away the most faithful audience you will ever have. We may not be the demographic group you want the most but you may be surprised at the purchasing power the little bit older audience! Grandparents and Aunts, Great-Aunts etc.etc… buy many of the products that your sponsors advertise to provide $$$ for your programs. Be smart and give us what we want to watch and you will get your most loyal viewers back. your sponsors and your television affiliates and you all will make more of a profit! It would be a win/win situation!!! All involved would truly be winners!!!
ABC/Disney Company, I was so disappointed when you took away OLTL……my favorite soap. I hope you will let GH continue (even in another time slot) as they have some awesome acting and greagt storylines. I know a lot of people agree withj me.
They can put ANOTHER new TALK SHOW anywhere they want. I WON”T be watching anyway.
I will never understand the decisions ABC is making about the daytime schedule. Taking a part of the modern day American fabric from loyal viewers was a huge mistake and they seem to be paying for that mistake. They are already suffering because of it’s bright decisions, and if they cancel GH, I would imagine they would lose even more viewers. I only watch GH now on that network. I don’t like being “handled” or “trained” and I don’t think this Katie thing is going to fly. How many networks has she been on?
I have already stopped watching ABC programming, other then now watching GH. I was a fan of Desp Housewives, but I stopped watching it. There was not much else on ABC that I did watch but they have had a few new shows this past season that looked like they would have been enjoyable but…sorry ABC… I did not even give them a second glance. It does not matter since there are sooo many options on TV now with the other cable channels. It irritates me that they have given up on their soaps yet they now want to launch a new night time drama about Texas… I would rather watch the show Dallas comin to TNT. Lets not kid ourselves… drama..? Just because it is on at night..it is still a soap. You just are playing it less and make less shows. They could have done that with OLTL. Put it on Sat or Fri when they have less viewers so I could record ti still.
definitely cancel The Revolution… leave GH alone..
I firmly believe that the Revulsion will be the one cancelled. AbC has gone down the tubes thanks to the boycotting and I will never watch anything on their network again except GH. Every show that they put on the air has some kind of boycotting going on. Why the hell do they put such horrible shows on tv?
Please do not cancel our only soap left!!!!! We need GH to stay!!! It’s been getting better and better. Cancel some other show but leave GH alone!!!
No thanks. Until Disney releases All My Children and One Life to Live back to Agnes Nixon, I won’t be watching Katie or anything else except for General Hospital and Nathan Fillion (formerly of OLTL) in Castle. I support my soap stars – ONLY!!!!!!
Looks like katie c will be on good morning america for a week, why couldnt abc/disney hire her to do there stupid morning show and leave our daytime soaps alone?I cant stand this woman all she is ,is another blabber mouth that I am not interested in what she has to say In the morning, before or after general hospital doesnt matter I wont watch.
OH, Poor katie couric and abc/disney ,she didnt do so well ,kc’s presence on the good morning america show not as good as the rat channel expected ,just wait mickey mouse if you kill general hospital there goes katies show what is it called again?Nope it wont do well in the 3 oclock hour or any hour ,I love hearing this, revenge is sweet .hey, if abc/disney didnt cancel all my children and one life to live and threaten to kill general hospital and replacing soapnet with another kid show I dont think they would be running into any ratings problems I would still be watching .not the talk shows ,but I wouldnt have a problem watching or trying out all your new prime time soaps,You know soaps that no one watches anymore,Is that what frons said?
No lead in pls I”ll miss days of our lives in our city keep gh in it’s time slot and put Katie in that stupid good afternoon America slot!!! I’m tired of the stupid talk shows! Enough already as it stands now I’m DONE WITH ANYTHING DISNEY!!! Over priced theme parks, radio, tv all of it! Soaps are tradition I used to watch with my grandma, mother,mother-in-law aunties everyone! When Luke and Laura got married I was in college and it seemed like everyone besides me worked their school class schedule around general hospital and especially that episode!! I think the guys in charge were not even born or very young to understand how important soaps are to many people! How much we like to take that time to escape into our favorite soaps… Not some STUPID talk show! If I have one more talk show stuffed in my face I will make sure my friends and family boycott all that is Disney also!! I know how to cook plus that all or most of them I see enough on food network I know how to dress myself! If I want to lose weight I will don’t need to be told how eat right and exercise HELLO!!! My self esteem is fine thanks.. And we have enough Hollywood shows on the air already! (Good afternoon America) Good morning America is enough already!! Knock it off already!! Are you people STUPID or you just don’t give a rats ass about the people who watch your day time line up!!! Not enough bitchin out about amc or oltl when you took them off? I guess you guys are STUPID!!!
