This week on ABC’s General Hospital, Finn (Michael Easton) is drinking again and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) seems to possibly catch him with someone else in the latest promo for the series.

Now comes word that Devon Ogden, who previously appeared on the ABC’s country music soap, Nashville, the smash hit drama, This Is Us and BET+’s  Sistas, will play the the short-term role of Barb in scenes opposite Michael Easton’s Finn.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Devon announced the news herself, saying “Back on the screen. I loved joining the cast of General Hospital. Catch my scenes this week.”

When not acting, Ogden is a luxury real estate agent based in Los Angeles. Soap Opera Digest revealed that Barb and Finn will definitely be in each other orbit. Is Barb the potential one-night stand for Finn further putting distance or breaking up he and Elizabeth once and for all?

Share your theories via the comment section below. Now check out the teaser from GH for the action in Port Charles for the week of June 3-7.

Whatever gets Elizabeth away from Finn for good works for me. Pair her with John/Jagger or anyone more dynamic.

I don’t mind Elizabeth and Finn together as much as some people, but I love the idea of her and Jagger together. I think they could be an interesting couple.

I feel the same but my sympathy lies with Finn. He needs to get away from the boring, condescending, patronizing, judgmental, cold fish aka
Elizabeth. She gave him about as much compassion on the loss of his father as one would give a flea. Yet she had the nerve to accuse him of overstepping her “boundaries” when she stalked herself, burned down Franco’s studio, clobbered Chase over the head, while Finn never once judged her or was harsh with her, but slept on her couch to offer protection and took care of her boys when she committed herself. Ugh; he can do so much better…I’m hoping Michael Easton isn’t leaving and they give him a loving relationship. I’d actually love to see him back with Alexis; they have actual chemistry and get each other. It’s not the one-way street it always is with Liz.

Agree, wholeheartedly!

Thanks Violet. 😉 I honestly don’t know how anyone could prefer Liz over Finn. He’s the epitome of goodness, of compassion, and he’s stood by her side through every trauma, from her grief over Franco, to her breakdown, to her feelings about seeing her parents, and all she’s done is pushed him away. And now when he needs her most, she’s clutching her pearls while giving that Liz scowl, and ordering, not gently suggesting, but ordering him to get to a meeting, and then completely ignores his grief & goes straight to “Violet just lost her grandfather.”

I liked Liz back in the day; haven’t really liked her much in years. I’d hate to see her leave just because I’m used to her being there, like a comfy couch that doesn’t add much to the scene but adds a sense of familiarity. We’re losing too many vets so I like her presence, I just don’t like her. lol

U cant forget she even killed his wife. Yeah, fin’s wife, she killed her when she was little.

Elizabeth did not kill Reiko. She did push her causing injury, but Reiko died from the disease Finn was unable to save her from.

She didn’t kill her directly, nor would she ever mean to, but wound up needing a blood transfusion which is how they said the got Blackwoods Syndrom which she died from.

Ugh; can’t edit here. Reiko needed a blood transfusion from the injuries she sustained when Liz pushed her down the stairs, which is how Reiko contracted the disease that killed her.

That whole storyline sucked and should have gotten the writers fired. After all that Liz went through, it was all to boost the Finn character and destroy Jeff Webber. If I remeber right she had repressed memory of finding Finn’s wife in bed with her dad, they argue and she falls down a flight of stairs. It happened when Liz was like 15yrs old. Her mother did something to make her forget the incident happened, then they send her off to live with Audry, while they run off to wherever and abandoned their daughter. How much older is Finn and his wife if she was cheating on him with Liz’s dad when she was 15. Plus Finn could also have fathered Chase after his one night stand with his dad’s wife. You want to blame someone for that convoluted story, blame Frank and the writers.
Becky did a great job with the poorly written material, but she deserves better than being Finn’s sidekick.

I didn’t say anything about Rebecca Herbst as an actress; my comments are about LIZ. And everything we talk about in reference to stories and characters is of course attributed to the writers whether we like or don’t like the character and/or a story since it’s all a creation of the writers minds! And what I said was Finn stood by her through it all; so whether you think the story was convoluted or not, it doesn’t change the fact that Finn, as a character, is a very good man. He’s a good soul. He’s attentive, loving, and supportive. And she’s not. She’s judgmental. She has conditions all the time. There is no excuse for her lack of compassion, her lack of barely any emotion at Gregory’s death, nor her lack of love & support toward Finn at the loss of his father. He wasn’t even drunk when she walked in. He wasn’t out of control. The “normal” reaction was the one Alexis, Chase, and Brook Lynn gave. Support, sympathy, love, and shared grief. Liz’s reaction was as I said, judgmental, as if she was saving Violet from an abusive father who she must take from him, on the heels of his father’s death. It was vile.

As I said, I haven’t liked Liz in years. I find her to be boring. She was boring with AJ, boring with Franco, and now boring with Finn. I know that fans of certain characters who don’t like how the character is being written or think the actor is being attacked, like to use that phrase, “propped up for.” No; Liz’s story was not to “prop up” Finn. It was just the story. And Finn, didn’t cross her “boundaries” as all the Liz fans claimed incessantly on X aka Twitter. He was a loving, attentive, man concerned for the woman he loved. She was scared, she was being stalked, her life could have been in danger and the lives of her sons. In real life, if a person in a relationship with someone who was going through all of what Liz was going through just stepped away or didn’t care, he or she wouldn’t be worth the time of day. But instead, all the “I am woman” viewers were like, “how ‘dare’ Finn help her. How “dare” he not respect her boundaries.” It was annoying and hilarious to read.

I don’t care about the Liz stalking herself story; I almost forgot it. Was it riveting or compelling? No; it sucked. But a lot of the stories do which is why the search for new writers seems endless. What I DO know is that Liz is never portrayed as a loving romantic partner; not like Willow for Michael or Nina for Sonny or Brook Lynn for Chase or Sasha for Brando, Sam for Dante, Portia for Curtis, Molly for TJ, even Blaze for Kristina, etc. Those couples flirt, they admire each other, they confide in each other, support each other. Liz reminds me more of Joss in relationships; she gives ultimatums. The man has to walk on eggshells or they’re out. Joss wasn’t there for Cam when Franco died; she was too busy telling him he better not blame Jason or he could see himself to the door. And Liz? She was too busy ordering Finn to get to a meeting without stopping to show an iota of love and compassion for the devastation he felt over the loss of his father. And then Finn apologized to her! That was the epitome of “are you freaking kidding me?” that I felt toward the writers. It was like hearing Nina apologize to Carly for the 1000th time and Carly rolling her eyes as if to say, “You again? Yes; I know you were wrong. I’m never wrong. We know that. Now run along…”

Why not Jack Brennan, He’s Dynamic

Jack seems to be earmarked for Carly. Run Jack, while you can.

I think no one had better chemistry with Finn than Hayden. I wish GH could/would bring Hayden back.

Finn and Elizabeth together is like watching paint dry.

Everyone will hate me for this, but that’s how I feel about Chase and Brooklyn. I like each one separately, but not together. I see no fire, not even a spark, sorry, guys.

I agree 100%

What happened with the eccentric guy who when he arrived at GH Finn was accompanied by his bearded dragon service lizard, Roxy? This is not a guy to run around and have affairs.

Totally out of character – but whatever breaks Finn and Liz up I guess.

I feel like Finn and Elizabeth fit. Both boring on the personality side of things. Being safe all the time, considering everyone else over them as a couple. Needs to be switched up or spunked up. And what is it with all this facel hair on these men, they look so old with the stables. It’s like the forgot how to shave. And Ava needs to come clean with sunny about meds. Hasn’t she learned anything from Nina. Been a fan of GH 50 years

I read some nasty comments about Elizabeth and you people saying it couldn’t be more wrong. She went there as soon as possible and she was thinking about Violet as well. He was so cruel to her, it put me in shock. Anyone who would tap a tree for syrup (new aphrodisiac?) as foreplay really has a good and patient heart. Elizabeth is one of the most sympathetic, empathetic person on the show. Finn got rid of her like nothing, she was willing to help and would have been there for him. She needs someone who will make her feel alive and bring out that side of her. I love the actor, but let Finn go, Liz. He wanted her, he got her and trashed her. I feel bad for his loss and even relapsing but she deserves a flirtatious, steamy man.

You did very well as I was not fond of you after Elizabeth burst in.. your words were very mean spirited.. so great acting in the role. Love to see you on again. Lol

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
