Donny Boaz Reveals He is OUT at The Young and the Restless
Monday will mark the final airdate of Donny Boaz as Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless. The actor revealed he is no longer with the CBS Daytime drama series via a lengthy.post on his Instagram account on Sunday.
Recently, Boaz had to be replaced during Chance and Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) wedding when the actor contracted the coronavirus, but has recently returned to taping new episodes.
According to his post, Boaz was let-go sharing it was not his decision to leave. Then, giving a timeline of the events that transpired, reasons for his departure, and a special shout out to the show and the fans for the opportunity to be on the top-rated soap.
Here is what Donny shared: “Sad news: Tomorrow, Monday, 02/01/21, as of now… will be my last air date on “The Young and The Restless.”
I’d love to say that this was my choice, that I’ve booked the next big project and leaving of my own accord… but that wouldn’t be the truth.
Here’s what I know…
Dec 22nd: I received my schedule with filming dates through March 2021.
Dec 23: filmed our last day of 2020. Flew to Dallas for the holidays with family.
Dec 24th: At 4pm, I received a phone call, from the powers that be, telling me that Y&R was not going to renew my contract for another cycle.
Merry Christmas. I was told that Chance is NOT being replaced or killed off, he just disappeared?
Reason for my departure:
“Due to the cost incurred because of Covid testing, production is to let go of 4 or 5 contract players. And due to the writers and future story line… I didn’t make the cut.”
I thought for sure Chance and Abby just married, having a baby and Victor Newman, The Godfather of daytime tv, saying “Welcome to the family, son,” that I was safe… I was wrong.
Regardless the reason... I am not angry or bitter. I am sad. I invested a year of my life into a storyline and didn’t get to see it through. Overall, I am grateful and thankful for this amazing opportunity.
Perspective: A lot of people lost their jobs in 2020. I feel blessed to have had a job during the craziest time of our lives. I know that I’m walking away from this better at my craft than before I started. 108 episodes. I want to thank #yr for this amazing opportunity. I want to thank the fans. You all have been AMAZING. Thank you. I want to thank everyone associated with Y&R, my cast mates and the crew. You will be missed. I want to thank my agents and manager for bringing this opportunity into my life. We are optimistic for what is to come. @mel_ordway I know I said I wanted us to be the greatest daytime tv couple ever, I aimed high, I’m sorry we didn’t get to see it through. Working with you has been my absolute pleasure and I can easily say that you are one of the greatest actresses I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. You deserve an Emmy… this year. And… that’s a wrap. I am now a free agent. Time to get to work.”
So, what do you think of the departure of Boaz? Will the show ultimately recast although Donny indicates he was told they would not? What did you think of his farewell message on his Instagram account? Comment below.
Note: Boaz later revised his Instagram post as below.

To be honest, I am not surprised at this exit. Anthony Morina and Josh Griffith missed the mark with Chance’s return, and I do not believe for one second they won’t be recasting. If anything, I foresee Justin Gaston returning to the role, given the positive reaction audiences had to his being temporarily in the role. My question is, who are the others to leave? And, I can guarantee they will cut the wrong people, and are pissed at Donny Boaz for revealing this information.
hope it is Sally
Sally, definitely
I hope it’s Summer and her ever growing inflated lips! Those lips are starting to remind me of the man eating plant from A Little Shop of Horrors!
Harry
You are too funny but right.
Agree! Sally needs to go. Gloria too!
Considering Judith Chapman (Gloria) is recurring, she would not be included in the supposed four-to-five regular cast members to be axed. However, Boaz did recant said-statement, so I do believe it might have been false to grab headlines.
Me too.
Yes..Sally and Gloria seeve no purpose!
I like Gloria. She’s a classic. I would love more scenes between Gloria and her sons.
I agree, Harry. Gloria brings a much-needed touch of old- school-soaps class to the show. Sally? Not so much. I’ve known too many people like that, just “yessing” everyone to death while plotting behind their backs.
Please let it be Sally
Yes she needs to go as much as Amanda needs to go to.
You are wrong from the get go on this. Donny Boaz was amazing. If you ever watched Days when Justin played Ben which only lasted a short time and brought in Robert Scott Wilson (top daytime guy in soaps) no charisma on a soap. Good looking guy but definitely not a better half for Abby on YR. Sally Gloria anyone but Donny
I totally concur, Rebecca. He has a way of emoting compassion and love in his eyes when he interacts with Abby. While I was not thrilled with the baby storyline, Boaz made it interesting. He also made Abby more interesting. I’m sorry to him go.
I read that Nina is returning, which leads me to believe that it’s due to Chance’s disappearance… or murder (the ominous phone call in his final scene suggests he’s bolting to protect Abby or he’s dead. Either way, it’s sad to see him go– those scenes when he spilled the beans about HIS medical situation were compelling.
Donny was amazing. He is one of the reasons I watch Y and R.
Justin Gaston was better in the role of Ben before he was recast, and the role was dismantled into a shell of what it could and should have been. And, as I mentioned above, Judith Chapman (Gloria) is recurring, so she wouldn’t be included. As far as Robert Scott Wilson being the “top daytime guy in soaps,” I find that laughable and completely false. Over-rated and completely tone-deaf, especially when it comes to COVID and its reality.
I agréé
I loved Donny Boaz as Chance. Missed him when he was sick and Abby’s husband filled in. Glad when he came back.Him and Abby were the perfect couple. He is leaving at a horrible time. I was so excited that they would have the baby as Mariah would be the surrogate. So, no replaced Chance and not recast of a Chance and not died off-Paul sending him off on a long assignment abandoning Abby for now starting today and Abby crushed for sure.
I thank this is not fair or rt. I really like this story line why would you all take him off & in the middle of a story completely i don’t know if I even want to continue watching Y&R. You all could have removed Sally any if her story lines are all deserving i didn’t like her on B&B & now I don’t like her here. This is so sad. PERIOD!!!
I am sad to see(Donny) go. I think he and (mel) make a very nice couple. They fit together like a hand and glove. I do not like when they replace characters from couples like this. It screws up the couple. I don’t think it is right to get rid of him like this. I DEFINITELY WOULD RATHER SEE HIM ON THE SHOW THAN THE WOMAN THAT PLAYS MICHAEL BALDWIN’S MOTHER. I DO NOT CARE FOR THAT PARTICULAR CHARACTER ON THE SHOW. Why did they bring her back
yes I would rather see Sally and Gloria both go I don’t particularly care for either one of their characters and I do not like Sally on Young and restless
Why are you upset with Donny revealing the information that others will also be let go?
I’m not; who said I was?
I guess crossing over Bill, Don Diamont from B&B was more expensive then they realized. Obviously Nina is back to spirit him away for an intriguing, edge of your seat, can’t wait for tomorrow storyline that will only happen off screen LOL. It will be can’t miss. Oh my days. Just bring back that awesome comedy duo Pratt and Phelps and be done with it .
Phelps and Pratt we should be so LUCKY
God help us. Phelps started the decline of Y&R over seven years ago. She dumped many popular actors to replace them with her favorites from General Hospital & Guiding Light. It was downhill from there.
Don’t get me wrong they made plenty of mistakes as well. However it was FAR more entertaining to watch than
what we’re currently being spoon fed.
Y&R has a small cast of characters some of these actors are top notch treat them as such. It starts with a good writing team.
Um, no, she did not. She was hired to do the job Sony Television wanted; if anyone began the decline, it was Maria Arena with her insane plot-driven stories.
I am not defending that regime by any means….but Phelps didn’t really dump any long term vets. When she first came on, several actors were let go, but all of them were relative newcomers that were not really clicking with the audience. Those were some very expensive actors, and the cast was bloated. The serial killer storyline of 2015 only really killed young newbies.
I’m mad can they ever let anyone be happy
Business is rough enough I’m sure show business is even tougher Being a critical care nurse all my adult life and peeping for it before that… I know how it has to be just so! Don’t be pissed at Donny He’s just informing others of what is on the way He had no invitation
Sally needs to go and they need to find someone to replace Chance not leaving Abby in the air it’s not fair to her charat
Frankly, I don’t think Boaz cares if he pissed off the executives at Y&R. They’ve screwed over so many actors during the years, it’s time karma bit them. Griffith & Morina have wrecked this show. I see the actresses that play Sally, Lola, & Tessa as being expendable too. If Summer got the boot, it wouldn’t bother me one bit.
Agree with you Jennifer W
Agree!! Lola is useless and Summer is so annoying I can’t hardly stand to watch her. They had the perfect Summer before they got this stupid Hunter character to replace her. They can also get rid of Elena and Nate they’re useless too. I love Danny, but I never thought there was any chemistry between him physically and Abby. They weren’t the right matchb from the start. But, he’s an awesome actor and I really like him. However, the casting was never good. And that just became painfully obvious when her husband had to take his place while he had covid-19. They need Sally to add some Flair But, they can get rid of Tessa. They can get rid of Lola and they can get rid of Chloe. My God is was ACCIDENT – Let It Go! Get rid of Nate and Elana. They can get rid of Devon’s actual family, but they keep the damn nurse. So stupid. Bring Tracy as a regular! You need a matriarch and she is perfect. Where is Noah and the other characters that should be there instead of all these newbies that mean nothing to anyone just taking up space and ruining the show.
Did you know that Justin Gaston is really Ordway husband in real life.
Well, what a sad surprise. Will miss you Donny. You were the best Chance. I don’t know how they can just get rid of him when just starting this new and boring baby SL with Abby. Maybe Abby will fall in love with Mariah and they will raise the baby together. Far-fetched? Stranger things have happened.
I think Donny made the Best Chance & couldn’t wait till he returned. I can’t believe they let him go. SO SAD & MAD.
Right? It IS a soap opera lol
Sorry to see him go. Hope there is a fan campaign to get him to stay. I think they trying to put Abby real husband on to stay because that is who replaced him when he was out temporarily. I want him back. I like his character and his presentation.
Abby wanted her real-life husband to have the job and big paycheck. All politics. As usual. Will not watch storyline anymore.
I doubt TPTB would listen to Melissa Ordway like that. I doubt any soap actor has that kind of control, especially in 2021 and at CBS.
Please rethink that. So boring.
I am super surprised. How can Chance just disappear? Are they actually going to recast with Melissa’s husband. Honestly didn’t live Donny in this role, but Chance needs to stay. Chance just married Abby and is trying to have a baby with her. I don’t understand.
Doesn’t make sense at all what is really going on?
They have to recast the role. You can’t have this surrogacy story line and chance nowhere to be seen. He would be there every step of the way to support Abby. The reason they have given for letting him go is rubbish.
I am not happy with this decision. I love Danny as Chance!!
I really thought he played the role of Chance very well and Abby and Chance made the perfect couple. Sorry to hear he was sick with Covid 19 and I’m sure we will see him in future roles.
Oh yes, hate to see him go! He played the part of Chance so well. He and Abby were so good together! Didn’t care for her husband when he stepped in. His acting skills are not natural like Donny’s.
Agree
So sorry to hear you are letting Donny go. He was the best actor for the role. Hope you get rid of Sally and don’t bring Theo back they bring nothing to the show! I’ve been watching this show since it started and I’m considering quit watching it since you sure don’t know how to keep a good actor like Donny! Think about what you are doing to the show !!!!!
I loved Donny! He was the best Chance. I thought Melissa’s husband was a terrible actor. The interaction between Melissa and her husband did not seem real. You are making a terrible mistake!
I’m not happy either you played the part perfectly. I pray they change their minds. You are Chance
I really, really liked Donny Boaz in this role because he really makes this story line bearable. I am so sick of Abby wining. He is so personable handsome. I didn’t like the guy who played his part while he was out sick. He was boring and just tolerable. Don’t mess up a good thing!
I agree….not happy with this move…Adam story is getting old and boring…Chance and Abby are great together…canned Danny and brought back Theo…boring..really writers???
They need to send Gloria talking about cutting people they brought her back! Theo suppose to be returning they full of it, but doing these crossovers they bringing Moses on soon Y&R just want get rid of people using covid as an excuse but getting rid of the wrong ones!
I, too am not happy with decision to let Danny go…he was genuine..
Get rid of sally.. she is a zero
Thanks
I do agree with you!!’
Well, that came out of left field!!
I’m a little disgusted with again another bad decision .waiting on a baby and now breaking up a family life?what kind of trashy decision is this??cmon Y and r your loosing your credibility..This is sad and not something I think I want to watch anymore!!!Getting Boring!!!
I’m so sad it really don’t want you to leave. You are a great actress. I pray that y&r change their mind and keep you. I love to see you on y&r. I’m going to miss you.
Since DOOL is on fire lately, I would love to see him join the show. Great actor. I’m not sure which age group they would cast him, but could he be an aged Johnny DiMera?
Maybe it’s just this picture, but he looks older than Allie and they are twins.
Phil
Sammy had Allie with Lucas and Johnny with A.J .They are not twins.
Allie and Johnny are twins. Lucas is Allie’s father and EJ is Johnny’s father.
Momo
My bad, sorry. I didn’t start watching until after 2000.
Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with it all. 🙂
Way too old for Johnny.
If Y/R is having to cut contract players due to cost of COV-ID, don’t you think Days and others will be doing that in the future? I can’t see them affording to bring anyone else in especially with the cost of actors such as Ali Sweeney..lol
Scratching my head. WTH?
I hope they are recasting. Chance is an important legacy character. And I want to see Jill and Nina return for guests appearances. They aren’t going to live forever Y&R
I have no problem with a recast. You can’t watch soaps and not accept that actors leave roles for many reasons.
This Is Just B.S. They..had Chemistry.SMDH.Why!Why!Damn Damn Damn
I hope they don’t bring back the real life husband. Ironically, I didn’t think they had much on-screen chemistry, and he didn’t present as a likely former federal agent/now cop.
Totally agree…much more chemistry with Danny…his face is sooo Expressive, and he is gorgeous…he radiates positivity!!!!
I didn’t enjoy Justin when he was on Days. I don’t think he’s that great an actor. I do think down the road they will recast the role and maybe get someone who will accept less money and be okay with not being on contract.
What is wrong with the powers to be! What a shame to let Donny Boaz go. He’s been a bright light on this show. Wish him the best! Someone will hire him quickly because he’s good. Shame on Y&R
SHAME ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS I LOVE HIM FOR ABBY YOU NEED TO RETHINK KICKING HIM OFF THE SHOW
I agree, he is a good actor and plays a good part, hope they are not getting rid of him and replacing him with abbys real husband, he didn’t play the part well at ALL…. And Chance would not just leave Abby, he was so in love with her, thats not his character, they are making a big mistake. Because of covid you don’t cut back the only things alot of people look forward too… WRONG MOVE
That’s it. We get used to a good actor on the show and they start pulling this again. Get rid of Lola or the new redhead. Ok stop watching after 44 yrs
Absolutely bad decision. They should send Chloe, Tessa, Elena and Tracy away too
Dee
Right you are. And let’s add Gloria and the new grown up Moses and I just read that Theo’s coming back to cause more trouble with Sally. Can things get any worse?
I am not happy with Y&R why have them get married go thru with them trying to have a baby and then fire him young and the restless I never have understood your reason but dam keep chance what the hell you guys doing!!!
I dont even want to watch Y&R anymore now. They take away all the good ones. Smh……
Loved him as Chance, such a great actor. So sad! With the Corona virus, the soaps & the way they are forced to act in drama scenes, it’s not the same.
I had just about decided to stop watching y&r and this made up my mind! Really stupid storylines and I am just done!
Wow, so tired of the poor choices on these soaps. Think I’ll take a long break!!!
Me Too! A break is definitely needed and maybe more realistic writers!
Not happy. Liked having him/his character. Same old people over and over I guess. Show is so unreal these days anyhow.
Oh no!!! I love you as Chance I for one am going to miss you. You did a tremendous fantastic job I hope one day they see their errors and hire you back we as fans are going to let them know how dumb this move is!!!!
A stupid decision and I liked him very much.
Not happy at all. What a dumb decision. Probably the best actor on the show.
That is just wrong! These writers need to go!
I don’t watch Y&R, but based on appearance he might be a good recast of Eric on DAYS
Phil
Oh please no! I can’t stand Nicole. I don’t think there is one man left in Salem that she hasn’t slept with or been married to. Now I’m just about sure it’s Rafe’s turn.
To each their own, Nicole is my favorite character along with Abby. Ari Zucker is amazing.
Anthony Morina and Josh Griffith need to go LIKE YESTERDAY, they are only destroying Y&R period. WAKE UP CBS Y&R is in LAST PLACE when you have DAYS way ahead of Y&R you need to get rid and fire Josh & Anthony. GH is running along with DAYS in viewers and all.
Wow to let this fine actor go is stupid and dump. He is awesome and the chemistry is awesome with his partner.
CBS DO SOMETHING get off YALL’S BUTTS !
Not happy at all with this decision. Donny played Chance very well. They were a great couple. Hope the writers change there minds. So sorry Donny..we love you! Guess it’s time to quit watching..dumb decision.
I love Chance and his character. Am really disappointed you are letting him go. Loved watching Abby and him together. He is a great actor.
I agree!
There are others I’d rather they let go- Lola.
And even some Newmans, but that would never happen.
It’s all about money $$$..
The top brass doesn’t see the characters/actors as we do.
They have no connection, they are about the dollars.
The finance dept decides who to cut.
too sad, I liked Chance/Donny..
But- now they have need to pay for Moses.
and the new redhead..
Y&R has always had a revolving door.
ie(all of Victorias lovers to be husbands.
If you are not an Abbot or Newman you will be a short stay.
Anyways; Y&R has been horrible this year-
so, no loss to me who goes because I’m not interested in Y&R any longer to make mention of. It has been junk.
Su000,
Y&R has been boring a true snooze fest..
as I mentioned before Pratt & Phelps should be running the show.. these current WRITERS are officially recognized as being the WORST. Abby and real life husband had no chemistry whatsoever on screen business & personal don’t mix.. Hope they don’t replace Donny W/ her husband. If CBS is having so called money $$$ issues of Y&R then they should cut its Executive Producer, he’s running this show into the ground.
I would rather Mal Young return as executive producer with a dual team of head writers. In truth, I was not a fan of Jill Farren Phelps’ style as executive producer (though she did the job she was hired for), and, while Charles Pratt, Jr was a pretty good head writer, I barely remember his storylines in the long run.
Bad decision to let him go. Please please don’t recast the role with her REAL HUSBAND! It is strange to say but they didn’t have great chemistry on screen.
Why set you up only to knock you down in the end and out the door.I wish you all the best of luck in your acting career and stay healthy too.
RCJ/LEO
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Y&R is full of bad decisions. Danny and Melissa were the bright spot of the show since they broke up Kyle and Lola.
Any happy, young couple is doomed on this show. Best of luck to Danny and I wish the show would reconsider.
Wonder who the other 3 or 4 are?
What a shock, this came out of left field and makes absolutely no sense. This is Abby’s best pairing ever – so much chemistry between them; a lovely wedding and, much as I hate the baby sl, they’ve had a lot of screen time. He’s joined the Newman/Abbott family and now he’s gone. Terrible decision – and I can think of several who need to go before someone in his position – Sally being the first. I’m so fed-up with decisions like this.
Not often you find a humble actor in Hollywood. Thanks Donny, you were good as Chance. You will not go long without a job. Maybe Jax on GH has a brother he never knew? You would be great as his other brother!
Timmm,
I vote for replacing deadbeat Brando W/
Donny. I’m sure Frank V. can squeeze a few $$$ more bucks out of ABC’s budget
conservative till to make it happen.
Thats a good idea Fancy. Brando is too wooden!
Several years ago I would have said this is the Abby curse! Think Stitch and Scott abruptly gone when they got involved with her. Somehow I have this strange feeling it probably has especially how bad it is now that it has to do with remarks he made on Twitter! Yep good old Twitter gets you all the time very sad but I tell you just talk about a sandwich you ate on Twitter that’s the only thing that’s safe these days!
I read that he aired his conservative politics on Twitter. He liked a post that somebody made replying to EB about the election. He signed a new contract in October. His Twitter incident was in early December. Somebody actually came out on Twitter and told him he better not piss EB off or he would be fired. He was fired on Christmas Eve.I will no longer be watching….sick of the cancel culture! Also the actresses that play Mariah and Tessa were on Twitter making rude comments about him. He is a Trump supporter.
Timmm,
Better yet… if Billy Miller chooses not to reprise his role of Drew then Donny B. would be a perfect fit. Sam & Drew are better suited since she’s moved on from Jason. Pairing Jason & Britt is a smart move. Finally Dante and Lulu need a chance to get it right this go round..When she wakes up it has to be original Lulu Julie B.
You nailed it!
I HATE 2C this Chance leave!!! He was the BEST!! Him and Abbey made the perfect couple. THAT IS REAL TALK. Y&R you messed up on this one. You should hve gotten rid of Gloria. We hardly ever see Paul. Surely there were other characters you could have let go!!!
Loved Donny in this role of Chance. Rather than getting rid of 4 or 5 contract roles, why not simply get rid of Michelle Stafford. I’m sure her salary is probably at least 3 or 4 times the others, and I cannot stand her since her return in the role post Gina. I know she is the original Phyllis, but her current approach to the role is super annoying and not pleasant or interesting to watch.
Definitely, Margherita!
Margherita,
I agree. Her “approach to the role has always been annoying and what else you said! It disgusts me every time she lures Nick into her bed and he goes like a little whipped dog. I’ve lost respect for him and it made me mad watching Victoria apologize to her.
I can see #YR, #CBSDaytime and #SonyPictures being royally pissed at Donny for revealing insider info that shouldn’t have been made public. If I were an exec at any of those 3 mentioned above blacklisting Donny because of what he did. I’m just surprised that all parties concerned were able to keep his departure from the show under wraps until yesterday.
IF it is even true… especially since soon after posting, he removed it from his post.
Sorry to see donnie go he’s the best chance they ever had he captivated the fans and kept their attention him and Abby together is like Victor and Nicki together young and restless producers better change your mind on letting him go
I have been a Y and R fan since 1973 and there has been many idiotic decisions made since the early 2000’s. It has truly been getting harder to watch the show. All my friends that shared conversations about events on the show stopped watching because of the decisions made regarding the various characters.
Now the other side of the problem is , Donny traveling during the holidays bringing great risks to himself and everyone else around him. Last year is the first time I have not traveled due to COVID19 and I don’t intend to take any chances of exposure. If he had taken COVID19 seriously, this would’ve happened. You are contagious before you have any symptoms and before you are detectable. If the CDC says don’t travel, then maybe you shouldn’t. Y and R have lost me as a viewer. Good luck to you all.
Kathie…I like Donny as Chance, but like you was disturbed about him mentioning his travelling during the holidays. It makes me angry. Especially for all of us who are playing by the covid restriction rules.
Let Chance STAY. Love him & Abby together
Worst decision ever. Chance and Abby are a great storyline and the only one worth watching. While he was out, he was missed. His replacement was not even a good actor. But the same writers probably write Bold and the Beautiful and it has been steadily going down hill. Get rid of Victoria, she is not that great of an actress, boring and snooty. Y&R’s loss of Donny will be someone elses gain and I’ll swith to that show.
Well that really sucks ……I really liked him as Chance on the show…..thanks alot guys
That sucks…..another mistake like when you ,killed off Billy`s little girl. DONNY WAS GREAT& SO CUTE.
Once again they got it wrong! Please don’t say he will be replaced with Melissa’s Ordway’s husband, because he was not believable in the role. The show is experiencing so many missed opportunities. Devon’s what the hell were you thinking moment with Elena was ridiculous! This is the woman that he told MANY times that nothing was happening with Amanda. But, the first chance she gets she sleeps with his cousin – Easily forgotten? HELL NO! Jack and Sally? The recreation of the John and Jill storyline. Come on Y&R, give us better than this!
LEW S
Agree, especially how they’ve ruined Elena’s character. First she cheats on Devon for feeling so insecure so what is really her excuse for cheating on Nate?
Current writer’s are LAZY .. dialing it in.. No
creativeness. Same old since they’ve been at the helm.
I think that the Devon and Elena moment will probably result in a pregnancy, and who’s the daddy storyline…
Get rid of Sally FF though all her scenes useless character. Hey get rid of the writers and their crummy written ruining great love storylines.
What??! I love him as Chance. And how are they just going to have him “leave” when they have the baby storyline? Geesh some of these storylines are just stupid
This is an absolute disaster for Y&R. Your ratings will drop dramatically. You see what happened to Day Of Our Lives when Cierra was gone. SHAME ON YOU FOR LOOSING THE BEST MALE ACTOR EVER. Why didn’t you get rid of Kyle and Summer instead?
I agree – I missed Donny when he was off – Chance & Abby were believable as a couple- great acting skills for sure. Guess Y & R is not looking at quality of skills
sorry not going to have the pleasure of seeing you or listening to lines, I think your great being Chance, darn shame!!!
Y&R is stagnant..stories are unimaginative…same old over and over again..
Honestly this writing team is LAZY! They truly missed the boat with Chance’s
comeback…missed opportunity, one of many.
Really going to miss Chance. Donny is the best Chance they ever had.He and Abby are such a good couple. Y and R are making a big mistake.Didn’t like her husband as Chance no chemistry.Bring Donny back!
I am shocked we’re losing Donny Boaz as chance Renew his contract Please don’t get a dark-haired actor thats to short playing Abby’s new husband Why would you make chance just disappear when she’s trying to have a baby Come on writers of the show step up your game
This is very sad news I was really happy for Chance and Abby.Chance are an awesome young man they should have let him stay on the show for sure. Chance I wish you well and God has better plans for you. You are awesome we love and will miss you
I like Donnie and the roll of chance and I think he and Abby makes such an adorable couple I would rather you get rid of Sally Gloria and possibly even Adam I don’t particularly like those characters I don’t know why you have to get rid of good actors and good parts and bring in the ones that people don’t particularly care to watch you’re going to lose a lot of your people that love to watch the show
I can’t believe this. I loved watching Chance and Abby getting together and planning a future. What’s going on here?
I am sad by the news Donny Book Boaz is leaving. I loved watching him with Abby! He was so sincere. He and Abby made a great TV couple. He will be missed.
This makes me sick! I have watched Y&R since I was a kid and I am 66 now. I am so disappointed with the show. I loved where their storyline was going and I love Donny Boaz.

Hayden Panettiere Remembered: ‘Guiding Light’ and More Stars Mourn Her Loss in Wake of Tragic Death

Tributes continue to pour in from the entertainment and soap opera community, and especially from former co-stars of Hayden Panettiere, who died on Sunday at the age of 36.
Panetierre was best-known to soap fans for her roles as as a young Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light and Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live, and as an adult in ABC’s music city primetime soap opera, Nashville where she starred as Juliette Barnes opposite General Hospital alum, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville).
As previously reported, Panettiere died on Sunday afternoon, August 16 in a home in Greenville, South Carolina. The coroner released an official statement on Monday, which read in part “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies.” First responders rushed to the scene after a 911 call about a woman who was unresponsive from an overdose and in cardiac arrest.

Now below, check out some of the heartfelt remembrances for the extraordinarily talented, Hayden Panettiere from several of her Guiding Light co-stars and more. Michael Fairman TV will continue to add to the list of tributes throughout the next few days as they become available, as well as keep you updated on any further developments in Panettiere’s death.
Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines, GL): “Hayden played my daughter for 3 years. She was the most brilliant child actor I’ve ever seen. The things she could do, the way she could remember 20+ pages of dialogue, day after day. Even on days where the director would come out between dress and tape and make huge cuts to the scenes, Hayden, never once forgot a line or missed her blocking. The adults would, but not Hayden. I felt blessed to work with her. And always perfect in her playing of the scene.”
Connie Britton (Rayna James, Nashville): “This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak.
I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔”
Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines, GL): “Hayden Panettiere was my granddaughter on Guiding Light. She died at 36 and was such a star.”
Rebecca Budig (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL, now Taylor, B&B): “I remember working alongside her..loved her and her family. She and Beth were spectacular together. So sad for her family and those who knew and loved her.”
Karla Mosley: (Dani Dupree, BTG) “This is awful awful news. Blessings to her soul and all who loved her.”

Bethany Joy Lenz: (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL) “There is nothing that posting pictures on the internet can do. I avoid it usually in moments like this. But Im here with my head in my hands and I don’t know what else to do in aside from praying for her soul, which I have done and will continue. I’m crushed. I knew the wild little blonde. Was she nine? Ten? I was eighteen. She ran through the Screen Gem studio hallways at 222 E44th St. laughing and playing games in between Guiding Light blocking and camera rehearsals. Long, unruly curls trailing behind her. She knew her lines and everyone else’s. Her intelligence was astonishing. She understood scenes and nuance and human struggle like no child I’d ever seen on camera. And she’d sit with you for a great conversation, then giggle and go play. We’d connect on and off over the years, like the cousin in the family reunion who got famous and life moved her away—but I always felt such joy seeing her when we were lucky enough to cross paths. We’d make a pact to talk soon. Lunch. Dinner. Somewhere we could curl up into a corner—but we never quite made it happen. I mostly stayed up to date through mutual friends.”
Lenz continued, “I don’t understand how this is real. Everything seemed to be turning around. She was coming BACK to life, wasn’t she? It’s too young and there’s still so much more life. And her daughter…. Hayden, you are surround by love. I’m sorry for every moment I didn’t reach out or check in. This can’t be real. These are moments of how I knew you, in glimpses over 26 years. I don’t know how to process this. I am praying for you to know the peace of God now and always.”
Brittany Snow: (ex-Daisy Lemay, GL) “I was lucky enough to play your sister for 3 years. I related to you so much in so many ways. Ways that I never even told you. Your talent was remarkable & so was your determination to be a bold, bright shining light. And you were. Always supportive, curious, funny and brave. You will always be remembered undoubtedly for your undeniable strength and spirit 💔.”

Charles Esten (ex-Deacon Clayborne, Nashville): Patty (Esten’s wife) and I are stunned and saddened at the loss of our dear and beautiful friend Hayden. I will never forget the first time I met her. In a sound stage office in Hollywood, I was finishing up my very first NASHVILLE audition. I had read two Deacon scenes before pulling out my guitar and singing two songs. I said my goodbyes and, hoping I’d done well, went to open the door to leave. Instead of swinging all the way out, the door bumped into somebody. Kinda hard.”
“To my complete surprise, It was Hayden Paniettiere, who – in full Juliette Barnes mode – had been listening with her ear to the door. Instead of looking even a little bit caught, her face instantly bloomed into the most beautiful smile. Eyes twinkling, she clapped her hands and said, “That was so good!!” I can promise you that in that moment, there was nothing in the world I needed to hear more than that. I told her that, along with my HEROES-watching family, I was already a big fan of hers, and that I was grateful for the very kind words. It was her turn to go in, so as I went to leave, I said a jokingly cocky, “See you on the set!”
“I was, of course, many auditions away from landing that incredible role. But when I finally did, and showed up in Nashville to start work, she walked right up to me, pointed in my face, and with that magical grin said, “See you on the set!” From there, we became fast friends, working very hard to play those 2 troubled Nashvillians, but always having fun and laughing a whole lot along the way. She was, of course, extraordinarily talented, infusing her larger-than-life character with all the heart, charisma, humor, whip-smart intelligence, and flat-out magic that were, alongside whatever troubles and pain she carried, a part of her own personal palette. What a great gift it was to act with her, sing with her, and to just be her friend. She was always extremely kind to my family, especially my wife, Patty, who I’m certain she liked even more than me.”
Together, we are heartbroken that she is gone, and praying for her family, and for all those who, like us, will miss and mourn her so dearly. God bless you, Hayden.
Rest In Peace and Light ❤️
Emme Rylan: (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, GL et al.)” So very sad. Rest in peace sweet soul.”
Bryan Craig: (ex-Morgan, GH) posted a text exchange via his Instagram story he had with Panettiere where they laughed about her making fun of his hat. He wrote: “Love you Hayden. Rest in peace Angel.” Craig later added, “Cherish the moments with people you love and care about. As cliche as it sounds. Send that text, get that cup of coffee, tell them you love them and you’re proud of them. You may not get the chance again.”

John Oliver Recaps His ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’ Soap Opera Experience on ‘Last Week Tonight’

Last Week Tonight host, John Oliver had his soap dreams come true on not one, but two long-running daytime dramas, heralding it his “hot soap summer” on the Sunday night, August 16 edition of his HBO series.
As viewers recall, Oliver’s tour of soap duty began back in March when he made a request and an offer to appear in any daytime drama that would have him with certain conditions, which included: having a ridiculous and over the top character name, a juicy storyline, and a slap.
Both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital came a-calling for Oliver, taking him up on his offer and in short order. Oliver appeared on GH in the role of the head of the WSB named Z on episodes airing July 2-6, and then on DAYS in the role of Salem’s chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, in episodes that streamed the week of August 11.

FIRST STOP, PORT CHARLES
On Last Week Tonight, Oliver shared that both soaps delivered, and then launched into a comedic send-up complete with clips from some of his scenes. Starting with General Hospital.
Oliver said, “To General Hospital’s credit, they met all my requirements and more. First, my character got to arrive by a helicopter flanked by a pair of armed goons. And I got to do a dramatic walk during which I bravely shot in the general direction of a guy who was already on the ground. It’s called being an action star, by the way, unless you’re me or Vin Diesel, you really wouldn’t understand. And then in my next scene, I revealed my true identity. (Oliver played the scene where Josslyn wakes up in a hospital bed with Z standing at the side of her bed introducing himself).
He continued, “As for getting slapped, well, they knocked that and me out of the park too, because it turns out that agent’s mother was not happy with me,” explained Oliver, as they cut to the slap of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) in the WSB Port Charles bureau office on Z. Oliver screamed, “YES! It has everything! A slap, a dramatic closeup, and me doing a voice so wrong, it is genuinely embarrassing. That was my honest attempt at an American accent. I can’t tell you why it’s southern. I can only tell you I was trying my hardest.”

SECOND STOP, SALEM
Then, came John’s wrap-up of his role of Devlin St. John on Days of Our Lives, the town’s chief city water inspector. “It is on Days of Our Lives I appeared in scenes alongside soap legends like Jackée Harry (Paulina) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). And the Days of Our Lives team met my demands in a whole different way because instead of being an international spy boss, they wrote me a character a little more my speed.”
Cut to a clip of Oliver introducing himself as Devlin St. John to Rita. He explains, “I’m the only thing standing between this town and a catastrophic plumbing failure. A literal sewage apocalypse. They made me Salem’s Chief City Water Inspector, which let’s be honest, is perfect casting. If you’re going to bottle my essence and sell it as cologne, it would be called ‘Chief City Water Inspector.'”
DEVLIN’S WIG
The late night host also clarified all the reports, that the wig he wore for his DAYS character he actually brought from home. “Now, as for the hair, I agree, it’s absolutely incredible. It’s been reported this past week that it is a wig I brought to set from home. And while it wasn’t technically from home, we did actually provide that wig, and for good reason,” joked Oliver. “I’ve seen myself act. I knew the hair was going have to do 90% of the work. I’ll be honest, I was going for a healthy John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH) look, but instead, it appears I ended up looking more like Tina from Bob’s Burgers.”

“And if you’re wondering whether I got slapped on Days of Our Lives, not only was I slapped by a man wearing elegant silk pajamas (EJ), I also got to slap him, which felt utterly incredible. But wait, I was also stabbed with a syringe and not once, not even twice, but three different times. And if that wasn’t enough, this happened too.” At that point, Oliver played the clip of Rita using the taser on Devlin.
JOHN OLIVER LEAVES DOOR OPEN FOR A SOAP RETURN
The now late night star-turned-soap actor concluded his segment with, “Are you not entertained? Watching that makes me feel the way I assume Matt Damon felt after seeing the first cut of the Odyssey, both proud and impressed that my body could even do that. Which again, you wouldn’t understand. You’re not an action star like I am now. ”
As he ended his recap, Oliver thanked both soaps for playing along, and noting that neither DAYS or GH actually killed him off! Could a John Oliver return happen down the line? Stay tuned.
Watch John detail his soap dreams come to life on General Hospital and then Days of our Lives below.
