DWTS Jack Wagner, "I am actually under contract to ABC, so if GH wants to call, they can!"

Last night on season 14 of Dancing with the Stars, the former star of General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful and Melrose Place, Jack Wagner danced his heart out in the second week of the ballroom dance competition.  But, is it good enough to keep him from getting the boot on tonight’s Results Show?  The judges seemed to think so, although they gave a few tips to Wagner to not over-dance, since he is such an engaging performer to watch.

Now, as to the question that all of soapland is wondering, if Jack is coming on to reprise his role as Frisco Jones on General Hospital?  Wagner told ABC Soaps in Depth,  “I’m prohibited from doing anything but dancing with Anna Trebunskaya (his DWTS dance partner)  right now at all.  Except maybe for going to the grocery store and feeding my kids!” No Port Charles updates. I’m actually under contract to ABC so if General Hospital wants to call then they can call.”

Watch Wagner’s dance after the jump from last night’s competition on Dancing with the Stars, and then let us know if you think GH exec, Frank Valentini should call Jack and try to negotiate tobring him on to the show when DWTS has concluded!

I wish Frisco would come back and help save Robin, which in turn could help save Maxie.

That would be so cool.

I would absolutely love for Jack Wagner to return to GH as Frisco Jones. Frisco and Felicia are my all time favorite GH couple and always bring excitement and interest to the show. GH has improved so much and now they have the opportunity to keep that going by bringing Jack back.

I agree with you. It would be a travesty to get this close to something that even 3 months ago would have been unthinkable and let it pass by. It’s the right time for GH and Jack to come to an agreement and get this going. It’s not like anything in this genre is a given anymore, so I think time is of the essence.

Supposedly they offered him a short stint like his ex-wife he wanted a contract they did not offer it, everybody they do not have the money to give these guys a contract MB,SB,TG etc cost a lot and how does Frisco fit in anymore? Mac has been Maxie’s father forever. Soaps are a dying breed RC &FV are doing everything possible to save it but they are working on tight budgets etc. maybe it is because I have owned a business for so long the economy is suffering you do what you have to do they are not going to waste a large contract on someone who does not fit on the canvas anymore. I like Jack Wagner but you can not turn the soap backwards Brad Bell released him for one reason could not afford him and he quit writing story for him long time ago.

Interesting. Do you have a source regarding JW wanting a full time contract? JW mentioned in an interview (on Access Hollywood) that he rejected GH offer due to his heavy schedule (it wasn’t his exact words, but something like that).

general hospital is on a budget abc/disney.doesnt want them going over the costs they were given, the rat channel would rather put there money behind there precious prime time soaps then keep the classic soaps that have been on for close to 50 years. They canceled all my children and one life to live so they can line there pockets with more cash ,Your right they are getting richer while our soaps are getting poorer ,So keeping all these characters it wont happen unless the rat channel Has a change of heart and I dont think that will happen anytime soon.Maybe after jack is done dancing with the stars ,which by the way is going down in the ratings this week they did.He can show up in port charles.

Hollywood Studios, Producers & Guilds Send Plan To Gov. Newsom and Gov. Cuomo For COVID-19 Production Restart Guidelines

On Monday, the two states with the most television and film production in the United States (California and New York) received a plan from many Hollywood studios, producers and the entertainment and production guilds of a plan and outline to be able to rejigger and restart production of your favorite shows and films.  This includes the soaps: General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of our Lives.

Via Deadline: In an effort to get the industry moving-forward again where jobs were lost or put on hold, and production were completely stalled out-of-the-blue, the guidelines submitted by “The Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee Task Force (the “Task Force”) is asking for consideration and adoption for the resumption of motion picture, television, and streaming productions in an environment that minimizes the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19,” says a report for Governors Gavin Newsom of California and Andrew Cuomo of New York.

You can read the details of the report here.  While there has been no word from the Governors and their offices if they have seen the report, bets are that several more steps will be needed before anyone would head and report back to a set yet.

GH's Steve Burton and Maurice Benard Deliver "The Power Performance of the Week"

As one would expect, limiting contact, social distancing, regular temperature checks, ways to handle props, and a COVID-19 compliance officer for all productions are part of the proposal.   As well as virtual writers room meetings, avoiding filming on-location as much as possible and filming in front of large audiences.

So, glad to know that this major step has been taken to try to get production back on track in Hollywood and New York? Comment below.

GH’s Steve Burton and Maurice Benard Deliver “The Power Performance of the Week”

Last week, as General Hospital aired the final episodes they had in the can, prior to the coronavirus TV production shutdown, viewers of the series were left with a one-two punch of gut-wrenching performances from Daytime Emmy winners, Steve Burton (Jason) and Maurice Benard (Sonny)

Burton, also received great news last week, when he found out he was again Emmy-nominated in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, while Benard, told fans he did not submit himself in the competition this year, when they were wondering where his name was in the list of the finalists in the category.  However, Maurice won last year for the second time in his career, for Outstanding Lead Actor.

Now on last Tuesday and Wednesday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama series, Jason was trying his best to break it to Sonny that Sonny’s dad, Mike (Max Gail) is not going to get any better as he continues to decline from Alzheimer’s disease, and that Mike is waiting for Sonny to let him go.  Sonny is devastated sitting with Mike watching him being completely unresponsive.  He tell Mike he will be back to see him tomorrow, as he leaves Mike reaches out his hand slowly.

Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) has just told Jason that she believes the signs are all there that Mike is on his final decline and battle with Alzheimers. Mike is unresponsive, not eating. and slipping away quickly. She believes he wants to let go, but is holding on for Sonny’s sake, something that tears through Jason.  Knowing Jason was told something by Elizabeth, Sonny asks what it is.  That is when Jason tells Sonny he thinks Mike is waiting for Sonny to let him go.

An overcome Sonny tells Jason that he worries that Mike might still want to fight, but for what? He is a shell of himself and has no memories.  It is then that Burton as Jason, in a touching performance, tells Sonny what he’d want if he were in Mike’s place. Jason reflect that he wouldn’t want machines keeping him alive or his kids having to go through what Sonny is having to deal with right now   Jason goes on to say that even when Sonny put walls up between himself and Mike through the years, that Mike never stopped trying to break them down.

Once Jason leaves, with tears running down his cheeks, Sonny sits with Mike trying to come to terms with what he must do now.  Will Sonny let Mike die and spare his father any further misery … or will he try to prolong whatever time Mike has left?
