This is a hard one for those who have loved the performances of two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

The actress, who announced that she has made the decision to leave the top-rated CBS daytime drama series, posted to her Instagram and social media accounts a video on Tuesday sharing that she is at four days and counting (as of yesterday) before she wraps.  She writes, “Saddest countdown… 😔 #youngandrestless#4moredays”

In her post, Davidson relates that the first time she walked into the CBS soundstages she was 23-years-old, and that this place has, “Changed my life in every single way.  I met my husband here, too.”

On Wednesday, Eileen added another video stating that it is now three days away from her final Y&R tape date, as she reminisces about bringing her then young son Jesse to the studio every day.

Sad to hear Eileen is wrapping at Y&R?  Watch the videos below and then share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Eileen’s getting out while the gettin’s good – “Y & R” under Mal Young is a large trainwreck!!

TRUE! Rey, Arturo, and LOLA are taking over!

Yeah, AVP. Shawna’s birthday ‘bash’ came to an end when I FF’d……so boring!! And then Devon just happened to find a list of plusses on what a good girl she is?
This JT idiocy has a long life…..will it ever die?
Furthermore, I feel that I’ve been asleep for years and woke up to find out Victor has a brother? …..first time I’ve heard of this!! What did I miss? When did I miss it?
I said this a few threads back; Y&R is now “The Rosales Family Show”. Ugh!!

Any scene with Devon, I fast forward. He always looks as though he is smelling something foul. He’s never quite sold me that he is a billionaire. & why is Sanctimonious Nate being thrust down our throats, the same as the new family in town-NO. THANK. YOU. Once Eileen leaves, there won’t be a reason for me to watch the show.

Making Devon Katherine’s heir was the biggest mistake TPTB ever made…..he still looks twelve to me, AVP.
I had such high hopes for Mac to return ( Ashley Bashioum) and be the heiress…..much more deserving than this little boy dresses in executive clothing.
On another note…..Rey and Paul are duping Sharon? Gimme a break!!
Are we to believe they suspect ‘something’? Stupid tease…

Don’t forget the very boring Tessa….she belongs in your grouping of Newbies who are taking over! The show would have done better to return Adam, Ronan, Chance, Kevin, Michael, Mark, and Paul with good well written storylines! Why can’t TPTB find good, imaginative writers that can write for our brilliant ensemble cast???

Eilleen is a y n r legend!
Her and peter bergman are eachothers best screen partner and ‘ jackie’ will be lost without her
..the writers messed up when they didnt continue the touching relationship her and Victor shared. More than even Nikki i found Ash to really humanize Vic and they always had a soft spot for eachother . The anyomosity that the writers put upon them was unfortunate as i enjoyed the occasional sweet scenes when Vic seemed to still care for her.
Her countdown vid seems really final but i hope not! Theres still so much story for Ashley especially now with Dina back after all those years
Ash and Eilleen will be missed terribly. Shes vital to y n r!.. heres hoping we can still find her on Days or rhobh!!

I HATE that we’re losing Eileen. She’s so much a part of this show’s halcyon days and her absence will be sorely felt. They’d better get Traci back pronto because it seems like they’re out to eliminate the Abbott clan altogether. And replace them with, what? The Rosales family? Nate? For the first time in over 30 years, I really fear for the show’s future. Other than Nick’s sexy transformation, I’m bored stiff these days. Letting Eileen Davidson go, especially after the losses of Mishael Morgan, possibly Doug Davidson, the infrequent appearances of Lauren, Michael, Jill, Gloria, and Traci is idiotic bordering on fatal.

This is so tragic. I’ve always admired Eileen and loved the character of Ashley.
In the past, she has left before, and after some time, has returned. I hope this
will be true now. Maybe she just needs a break (she does work rather hard and has for many years) or the show has definitely decided to “go in a different direction” and push for new families, new faces, etc.

I am sorry she is leaving for now– because this is the what her fourth time leaving? I will have to google it– I know each time a star leaves they truly think it is their last time, and perhaps this time it is– all I know each time the character Ashley is not on canvas the show suffers for it– I don’t know what is happening behind the scenes but if they are truly driving away their vets this show deserve any fate it gets.

Okay I google it– she left once on her own, then was fired twice and this time is leaving on her own–

0ohh she just now finished filming–
that means she’ll be on scree for another month.
I have been waiting for her to be gone.
I used to sorta like the ”character” Ashley..
But–
ever since the actor went to the Housewives, I saw her a slutty cheep like ..
I could never fully erase her stint in housewives from my mind. eeeseeehhhhy !

Anyways, I wish her the best ..

Your comment makes no sense besides the fact thats its unnecessarily negative: ” slutty cheep like”..as she was neither slutty or cheap but rather down to earth and very modeston rhobh, She was very loyal to Lisa Rinna and had a sincere friendship with Erika. Actors have lives outside of their soap characters…sorry Eilleen didnt live up to your high expectations. ..
You must also think y n r is really exciting these days if your waiting for Ashley too be gone as you say
..not sure we watched the same rhobh or watching the same y n r!

I definitely thought the RHOBH was a step-down for Eileen, but the description above is not what was portrayed on-screen by Eileen. She was classy and sophisticated. I think the money was hard to pass up ($750K/season?). She learned pretty quickly that it wasn’t the right gig for her.

The House Wives are disparagingly offensive and The wives are disparagingly offensive lol
Dressing scandalously, revealing large portions of their body to get attention, distastefully revealing at times, actually eeshh..
They are not the pillar of respectful/dignified society and that’s the draw..
the wives are not a convent of flying nuns they are sluty.
If they weren’t sluty their audience would not tune in to witness their drunken stutyness LOL

The actress is a very good actress and I wish her well.
Nothing against her with exception of her entering the House Wives bad move it soiled her imo.
We will be seeing Ashley for another month, enjoy her last month, she is bringing her A game ending; she will give us a great (acting) exit.

And yes-
I see Y&R as being the best it’s been in a long time 🙂

Why, su? Yet, you praise “Sonny” as being one of GH’s anchors?( paraphrasing). Oh, I forgot….you adore mobsters? LOL.
I never watch/watched “Housewives”…. so, I guess, my mind hasn’t been tainted.
Oh, SuzieQ!!!! Eileen is one of the best actresses on soaps—I have witnessed a few “Ashleys” breeze through the Y&R stage….but, none was as remarkable as she.
❤️

Hi Celia 🙂
yes, Eileen is a very good actress, no doubt for sure and she should have never enter into House Wives; can’t wash that ish off lol
Ahh my Sonny lol at the least he’ll never enter House Wives ahaaa!;)

SuOOO, I do understand your comment, and although , I wouldn’t use the exacact words in describing Eileen, I did feel her image got a little soiled being on the RHWOBH. After two seasons, I could not stand those women, nor the lives they led, and while not judging, I just didn’t care to see anymore of them. We may never know the real reasons for Eileen leaving Y&R, and I am not quite buying her “wanting more time with her family,”but I am betting it had a lot to do with Mal Young, making everyone’s lives hell, including the cast. When you see how many favorites we’ve lost, with the list getting longer. He’s tossing a lot of them to the sharks, and the others are jumping overboard,as a way to get away from that bad old sea captain. Been so many, pick anyone! Sorry for rambling, but I will miss Ashley, as she’s been a part of the Y&R as we knew it, for so many years. They say everything has to change, but this is too much.

hi Violet 🙂
Y&R has seen many greats marching out the exit door, something seems wrong.
You have near a month with Ashley and we know her exit story will be dramatic I’m sure she will give us one helluva exit by giving us her best acting-
((hope her exit script will do her justice..

suOOO Hope you are right, and they do something worthy of her talents, unlike Paul, that every time I see him, I wonder if its his last time. Ray seems to have taken over his office, etc. Wonder what will become of Chris when Paul leaves.

I grew up watching Eileen on Days, so like James E. Reilly at the time, I think Eileen should play all the roles all the time. Having said that, I’m not that sad to see her leave Y&R. While I love Ashley Abbott, I don’t believe Y&R has given her a single second of screen time since she returned in 2014 that is worthy of her considerable talents. It just seems like Y&R has kept her contracted to prevent her from being able to work on Days (or elsewhere) long term. That is not that enjoyable to watch. So while I have no use for Y&R without Eileen and will not be watching after she leaves, I’m excited to see what she does now that she is in control of her time.

Same here, lieueitak…..late 80’s/early 90’s….I was about four years old…..believe it or not, I remember…..
Love her!!

Tooooooo sad …… Y&R will NEVER be the same without this lovely Lady ❗️❗️❗️

Hello, lovely lady, yourself,
I love Eileen….this woman has everything; beauty, charm, style and talent.
You are soooo right…..she will be missed!!
A bientot, ma belle amie!!
❤️

CeeCee, Kisses tooooooo U sweetness ‼️

Yeah but we still have Tessa!

Tessa’s a Messa!

A whole lotta messa.

HaHa, you guys…..Tessa the messa is up to no good!!

LMAO–Thanks I needed that I don’t think I laughed this hard in a long time

Timmm, must U remind us.

Hey, seriously, is there anyone out there that thinks Tess is on the up and up? I did for quite a whike, until my daughter and others telling me she’s evil, etc, etc,

Seriously, is there anyone out there that thinks Tess is as honest as she says she is?

Deceptive & Dishonest for sure…

The main problem with Tessa and her sister Crystal is we dont know them. Therefore, any trouble either of them are in, who gets a crap!

Sad.

I am devastated and will pray for Miss Davidson to return to Y&R some day. She is Genoa City legacy and royalty. There is so much Ashley Abbott story to tell. I am upset we have had not more reunion/reconnection time with Dina (so deliciously played by Miss Marla Adams) and I hope there is some reconciliation among Abbotts as Ashley departs. Story wise, I can accept a recast. We did twice before in the persons of Brenda Epperson and Shari Shattuck. I love Miss Davidson’s confidence and vulnerability, personality points she plays equally well. Please, Y&R producers/writers, do not destroy a beloved legacy created by the primo talented Bill Bell. Part of the joy of serial drama is consistency, maybe moreso than wholesale change. There must be the character, shared history, and familiarity to hold it all together. I can accept new people and families — that is part of the world turning, my children — just not at the expense at the people and stories that mean so much to us.

How many times has she left the show at this point? Hard to believe, however, it’s been THAT long since she first joined the show. I remember one of her first on-screen boyfriends, that guy who worked in the Jabot lab (I think the actor’s name was Jay Kerr or something). The REAL Mamie and Jack (Marguerite Ray and Terry Lester) were still there, and Deborah Adair was Jill at this point. [By the way, I recently saw clips of Jill #2 — Bond Gideon — on YouTube. She was quite good! I don’t know why she nor Tammy Taylor (the original, spunky Patty Williams) were replaced.]

The beautiful women that have been on Y&R and are my favorites, Jaime Lyn Bauer, Eileen Davidson, Heather Tom, Nina Arvensen and Sharon Case that really stand out in my opinion…I love Eileen Davidson and she will be missed very much…I will say it again, Y&R hasn’t been the same since 2006/2007 when Kay Alden and a lot of the behind the scenes crew were let go along with the beautiful classic background music…I will also say again that CBS/Sony DO NOT care or they would listen to us viewers since the beginning…Eileen, I wish you nothing but the best…Oh, Patty Weaver too, miss her singing on the show…
