Emma Samms on Her GH Return: “You’ll See That the Scenes are Both Funny and Very Dramatic”
Next week on General Hospital, Emma Samms makes another return as Holly Sutton. When viewers last saw Holly, she snuck out of Port Charles with the help of Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner), in order for her to go locate her son, Ethan.
Holly had been under the thumb of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) as part of his treacherous plan to retrieve the Ice Princess diamond necklace.
This time out, Samms will return to the ABC soap opera for a short-term run so the story can continue. Holly will use everything-but-the-kitchen-sink to keep her son safe, and to bring down her mortal enemy Victor Cassadine.
In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, hitting newsstands everywhere on Friday, Emma teased her upcoming scenes that will air shortly.
Samms expressed: “You’ll see that the scenes are both funny and dramatic and I think that’s one thing that General Hospital strives for, which is to have both humor and high-stakes drama. It’s great, great story and again, very fast-paced.”
Currently, Victor has kidnapped Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) and baby Ace, but Trina (Tabyana Ali) has stowed away on the Haunted Star, as well. Will all of this lead to a collision course with Holly, even though she is in another part of the world? Stay tuned.
Samms first episode back was slated to air April 17th, barring preemptions.
So, excited to see how Holly’s story plays out? Glad to have Emma back on GH for another stint? Comment below.
I’m so excited to see Holly again! GH got her return in 2022 right. I am hopeful 2023 will be written just as well.
So excited for her to be back! Now of tptb would work with her to do limited arcs and zooms 5o reunite Robert and Holly for good that would be our day! Throw in fixing Ethan’s paternity too!
Hopefully she is there to kill off Victor.
I wish she would stay and they could get rid of of Nina. I can’t stand her and she can’t act.
Hope the hook has a date with nina
Cynthia Watros is an incredibly gifted and talented actress. She is able to show her emotions without shouting it from the rooftops. Maurice Bernard loves working with her and says she elevates his own acting to a whole new level. Watros’s Nina is sweet, self-deprecating and comically awkward in her social interactions.
What OG Harry said.
I can get maybe not liking Nina as a character, I personally like her. But to say that Cynthia Watros can’t act, that’s crazy. Go on YouTube and watch some of her work as Annie Dutton on Guiding Light, which she won an Emmy for. She was good on Lost. Not to mention what she’s done on GH.
Thank you, Dan. I never saw Guiding Light but will look it up based on your recommendation. CW is very subtle and natural in her interactions with other characters. For instance, she was in a scene with her Aunt Liesl, who was mourning the loss of her daughter. Nina listened compassionately and was able to show sympathy using facial expressions(one of the hardest things to as an actor). At one point, Nina gently moves some hair that had fallen over Liesl’s eyes. I’m sure it wasn’t in the direction, but Watros’s natural instincts as an actor. It was a subtle action but a powerful action demonstrating empathy and compassion. Again, as an actor, she shows without telling.
happy to see Emma Samms back to GH, will Ethan show up to? just in case she needs to still locate him, I heard through reliable source that he was last seen in Roswell NM. just saying.
Love Emma Samms. She’s so pretty, and has a lovely, lilting London accent. I hope she’s starting to feel better.
Not excited at all. She’s always been a shady, untrustworthy, character and Robert deserves better.
Let he and Diane develop their relationship without deceitful Holly butting in.
I agree, Shari. She makes me uncomfortable and I just can’t trust her. Now, if Ethan returned in the form of Nathan Parsons, then we’ll talk.
I so agree. He’s such fun character and it would be great to have him back.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
