Extreme Makeover handyman, Ty Pennington to try hand at daytime talk show?

How would you feel if Ty Pennington the fix-it guy, Mr. Extreme Makeover, would come to daytime with his own talk show?  Better idea than the new CBS gabfest, The Talk, slated to replace ATWT, with mommies, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and company?  Well according to Deadline.com,  “Pennington’s contract with ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ends in spring of 2012. So the host and his management team have been working for a number of months on a daytime format they are getting ready to take out for a Fall 2012 start date. Managers Bill Stankey and Drea Bock are currently exploring other networks besides ABC as well as syndication and cable partnerships with alternative revenue streams being a major component to the show.

Discussions are taking place with several major sponsors. Stankey took Joy Behar from daytime to primetime and kept her in both time slots. Team Ty hopes to do the same, in part because of preliminary audience research conducted by a network and an independent web based research firm. Meanwhile, Team Ty claims Pennington’s Q scores run higher than all daytime’s hosts with the exception of Ellen DeGeneres. Pennington started out on TLC’s Trading Spaces and has become a familiar pitchman for advertisers.”

So would this be a viable soap alternative?  Let us know your thoughts.

I would check it out as long as it’s not in the OLTL or GH time slot. Same reason I don’t watch Ellen D who I love because she’s in the OLTL time slot in my viewing area. Martha Stewart’s show is moving from ABC as is Oprah so both the 10 AM and 4 PM time slots will be opening up. If the show is in either of those time slots I would tune in.

Guess they’ll give anyone a talk show, other soaps have better start preying for a miracle.

As the World Turns Cast To Perform Virtual Reading Of Final Episode

In a once-in-a soap-lifetime event during the Covid-19 pandemic, the cast of As the World Turns will reunite for one night online for a virtual reading of the CBS daytime drama’s final episode that aired back 10 years ago this past September,

This livestream event is for a good cause and is brought to you by former ATWT cast member, Trent Dawson’s (Ex-Henry) theatre group The Katonah Classic Stage.  Dawson is the artistic director there.

Over 26 veteran cast members from ATWT, including Larry Bryggman, Don Hastings, Kathryn Hays, Elizabeth Hubbard, Michael Park and more are set to participate in the reading plus some surprise guests.

The show will be streamed  n The Locher Room YouTube channel, 0n Wednesday night, October 28th at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST, where fans will also  have the opportunity to comment and ask questions of the cast,

The event is asking for a $15 donation to be able to see it and you can click here for more info!

Working with Katonah Classic Stage (KCS), a professional, nonprofit theatre group an hour north from New York City, Dawson is hoping this event will help those in need.  KCS has access to outdoor performance space that can provide a safer, more  socially-distant experience for the artists and the audience. The fundraiser not only  applies to salaries, but to health care as well; without employment most artists are ineligible for health coverage during a time when such insurance is critically important.

So what do you think of getting these beloved stars from ATWT together for a good cause to relive and read the script of the final episode from Oakdale? Comment below.
