Former GH Star Kelly Sullivan Lands New Role On The Young and the Restless!

For all of us who have been waiting for acting spitfire Kelly Sullivan to re-appear on our daytime screens, it’s finally happened! And for those of you who have been hoping that it would be Y&R that would be a fit for Kelly’s talents, your wish has come true.
The former General Hospital favorite and Daytime Emmy nominee, where she played Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri is said to have been cast in a recurring role (for now) on the CBS sudser named “Sage”!
According to Soap Opera Digest the character is: “Intelligent, competent, discreet, and reserved. However, that reserve masks a well of passion and fire beneath the surface. She’ll do anything for those she loves.” Kelly revealed on her great casting news: “I’m incredibly honored and flattered to even be considered to be part of the ‘Young and the Restless’ family. I’m also thrilled to be working with (Executive Producer) Jill Farren Phelps again like we did on GH.”
Sullivan begins taping on September 24 and look for her to first appear on-screen on the October 28h episode of Y&R!

The thing is that there are only 4 remaining soaps, so the ones with the extra income and higher ratings in the 18-49 demo, are signing vets left and right and trying to lure more ratings..I must give credit to B&B, they are no overcasting and there ratings are fairly solid…It is not a casting war between GH and Y&R, its just 4 soap, and lots of actors in need of work.
This is FANTASTIC news! Kelly Sullivan is a pro at what she does, and her talents were wasted once Ron came on board with General Hospital. The character of Kate could’ve been so much more than a cornered character with DID. Hopefully the writers at The Young and the Restless can write for her, which I know they can!
I also saw Kelly as a potential replacement for Michelle Stafford’s Phyllis, so this is great! I need her to debut now! I’m ready to be WOW’ed!

it was definitely ass kissing all the way around. JFP has been trying to get her on board at Y&R for awhile. She’s a good actress but I’ve heard she’s a trainwreck as a person. I prefer to see people who who are likable on screen and off screen. She seems to just be using this as a way of pedaling her business venture anyway, which is a bit off putting.

She was insanely phenomenal as Connie/Kate on GH!!!!! I could see her being a good rival for Phyllis too!!! Just keep her away from Nick and keep him with Sharon!!!!
I thought she would have been cast as Stitch’s ex. That seemed logical to me. Oh, well. I am glad she’s back on my screen. Not only is she beautiful, but also talented.

When you put it like that, no, not really. Not that SB, TR and KS aren’t great actors – they are. But BM, MS and ER were fantastic on Y&R and they are sorely missed. Whereas, if SB left Y&R, I wouldn’t care too much because he hasn’t made the powerhouse impression BM and MS did.
Damn I forgot Tristan. So it’s 4-3 in GH favor.
Tristan is worth about a thousand of Michelle’s, and if you’re going to apply this stupid scorecard business to the two soaps you need to factor in the writing.
In that case, Y&R wins.
Y&R can have emme rylan back, i prefer the original actress, julie marie Berman, not that emme is bad, if she was playing another character i would like here, i just don’t think she makes a good Lulu. YR can keep Steve Burton, i do think Billy Miller will make a great Jason. wish we could have Tristan back and Kelly Sullivan on of GH biggest mistake in firing, how insulting to fire an actress for doing a great job, leave a bad taste with me for RC and FV. I’ve never seen Michele Stafford on YR before, and some don’t seem to like her on GH but i’m enjoying the crap out of her, i’m not a fan of the storyline, 20year in a coma is beyond stretching it, but love her with Rosalynn, they are a hoot, and her over the top acting is ok by me considering what they have her playing. to me she’s a keeper. lastly i’m not sure i’m really enjoying all the swapping these two shows have going on, looks fun all the tit and tat but its going overboard, pretty soon the shows will have to swap names if they keep this up.

Killing off Connie was one if the most pointless plots ever under RC / FV. Regime , the storyline was pointless and letting go of such talent was just plain stupid , actress as talented as Kelly Sullivan don’t grow on trees so I find it hard to believe they let her go.

There are a few options open for Sage. She could be a lawyer hired by Michael and Avery as they venture forth with their new partnership in a law firm. She could be Kelly’s and Stitch’s long, lost sibling….or she could be Austin’s mother? Phyllis’ nurse? So many possibilities.
Great news. GH was so foolish to let her go. I loved Megan Ward’s Kate but was won over by Kelly Sullivan’s charisma and acting prowess. She’s really very good.
Give her a decent storyline, please! And maybe pair her up with Steve Burton because while she’s a sweetheart, Avery is as dull as dishwater. I’d like to see Burton paired up with someone who can jolt him out of his somnolent state.
With more than usual dull, lifeless characters on Y&R, a pod people storyline could bring “life” to the show…I always liked “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” We can keep score cards for who we think came from pods! What do you think?
Love KS, however, aren’t there enough blondes on the show. We really need some new men for all these girls instead of the same old switching back and forth. Give us another Dylan or Ben.

The only way y n r needs another character is if she s a foil for the boring cane / lily marriage! Maybe she s an old flame of cane s and has some dirt on him. Huh? So, how does that make Kelly a foil to a marriage, no less? One cannot be a foil to an abstract. One is a foils to a character…to boost the main protagonist’s qualities….AND, usually of the same gender, not the opposite sex….

Mixed feelings– love the actress, just not sure if Y&R really needs another new character at this point in time. But willing to see who Sage is and how she fits into the canvas and whose orbit she will be connected to. Last week on a different post I did state it was Y&R turn to snag a former GH cast member– and they did. Now it is GH’s turn — my guess the actress who played Chloe will turn up on GH sometime soon— anyone else agree?
It most likely will happen sooner or later…im suprised Brandon Barash didnt show up at Y as the nuAdam…but there are only 4 soaps left so if an ex soap star doesnt make it to primetime or movies, and need an acting job, where else are they going to go but another soap…these things are getting to be more interesting than the shows we watch…lol

There you go, there you go! Y&R got one of GH’s finest actress’s. She is so freakin good! For those of you who are not familiar with her she will blow your socks off! She will bypass recurring! She would have been a great Kelly. Her and Peter would have been gold! She may be part of the new Jabot perfume story? I would like her to be a former flame of Dylan since Joe Clark is coming to town.
She’s not needed, especially knowing she’s a FOJ. I hate that Phelps keeps bringing people on.
She may be a fine actress. I know nothing about her, so that’s a plus for me. Willing to give her a shot, but never at the expense of YR characters that currently aren’t being written for.
She is needed for all the GH lovers that dabble in Y&R. As you can see, it’s all about GH.
The only GH actors who’ve been lucky enough to sign with the #1 soap on the air are those who’ve worked there with Phelps. None others are there.
And GH fans who also watch YR do so to escape the crazy that GH can be sometimes.
Out of work Days actors are salivating about trying to get their foot in the door at YR!
I would have used her as a recast for McKenzie and have her team up with Jill & Cane to take back Chancellor from Victor Newman. That would definitely be a storyline worth telling. I happen to like the character of Cane and he has been on the back burner long enough and you will never convince me that Katherine would leave her business to Victor or all her money to sniveling Devon who she knew two years . She adored Brock and Mac the writers dropped the ball on this one.
She is a great actress. I am happy that she is on Y&R. I would love to see a scene between her and GT.
This is AMAZING news all around! I actually let out a loud “YES” when I read the headline.
It’s quite clear to me that she will be involved with Adam, for their first tape dates line up perfectly. I would be surprised if she’s not mixed with up with Adam when he returns…only thing we can do is wait and see.
Makes sense. She is a powerhouse. Her and Michael Muhney would have been great together. We’ll see if her and Justin can connect.

Wishful thinking I know, but I hope the writing will improve to help all of the actors still there too.
Why did GH even kill Connie off? It was extremely needless and because of that decision, GH lost one of its best actresses. Kelly Sullivan really took the character of Kate/Connie and flew with it, it was great watching her every day. Her death hasn’t changed anything except it gives Olivia something to preach about and Sonny now has leverage on Ava. In fact, it contributed to the death of another great character, A.J. And, moreover, Ava still hasn’t payed for what she did and it’s been a year now! So why did it have to happen?
Regardless, I’m sure Kelly will do great on Y&R, but they better have good material for her, and they should offer her a contract sooner rather than later, otherwise they might lose her like they lost Emme Rylan when she came back.

GH has Robin bring her back from death….with AJ of course played by Michael Muhney… Connie / Kate was so great with Sonny…they had a special something that he has not has since the old days of Brenda. They had a special magic. Really cant stand Olivia at all. She needs to go off into the sunset with someone somewhere! I fast forward through her every scene… hope Ned is not stuck with her.

She can get in line behind all the other characters on this show in search of a story (Noah, Courtney, Dr. Barton Shelby, Kevin, Leslie, Summer, Tyler, Abby 3.0, Jill).

Yeah I had high hopes for Dr. Shelby and Tyler bringing more African American/Ethnic story to the show… but they (especially Barton) are just fillers.
Barton is a good actor but he gets thrown in with the Winters family and thats punishment!
Don’t watch Y&R, but I’m very excited for her. She is a wonderful, power-house actress! Viewers should be thrilled.
With only 4 daytime soaps left, seeing actors show up on different shows doesn’t surprise me at all. To me it’s not so much a “casting war” as limited opportunities and shows capitalizing on established daytime actors. Soaps have always been a roating door. Just my perspective. As for Kelly, I enjoyed her on GH. I was hoping she would show up on Days as a recast of a character we haven’t seen in a long time– or a character deeply connected. YR already has a lot of talent on the canvas but I’d rather see Kelly on the show than no where, or better yet I’d rather see her on the show than less deserving actors.
With only the 4 soaps left there are many out of work soap actors..

I have said it before, and now again – can’t believe the continuing addition of new
characters, while current and established ones are not being written for enough.

The new regime has written for the veterans more steadily and better than Maria’s regime ever did before.

For example, Barton. He has been onscreen for all of 15 minutes it feels
like, since his first appearance. New characters come aboard only to
be soon backburnered…then another new character comes…and so
on and so on…
I would like to see more s/l involving Noah and Courtney, for just one
example. Courtney was brought on, then nothing much happened with
her afterward.

I agree k/Kay. It always puzzled me why the Duchess would leave the company to Victor and her billions to Devon. Unless, of course, it was done to ease her guilt in giving up her son. You certainly came up with the perfect descriptive word for him…sniveling. This guy has no charisma, no drive, no personality. I do not see him as a businessman…a man, period.
I wish they would bring Mac back. I loved that character. And, Brock!!! Loved him too. Such a positive aura about the character. Who knows, maybe there will be some clause in the will that was overlooked or something, where the money is really Mac’s . Things like that happen on soaps , anyway. That would be a good reason for Mac to reappear. Indeed, it may, possibly, also help boost the soap’s rating.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)
It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.
TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.
That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES
GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.
Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.

Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.
Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.
Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Britt Reach an Impasse; Is This the End of Their Relationship?
On the Friday, September 11 episode of General Hospital, Jason (Steve Burton) and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship becomes strained to potentially the point of no return.
Things take a turn when an unglued Britt having been traumatized by almost being killed by Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) asks Jason to back her up with the PCPD when she reports Anna for attempted murder.
However, Jason told Britt, he can’t. Jason shares that he does not believe Anna would have gone through with shooting her. Therefore, Britt was not in any real imminent danger. Britt is flabbergasted and hurt that Jason is refusing to tell the police what he actually witnessed for himself on Mount Emerson.

BRITT WANTS BACK UP FROM JASON
Jason counters that he can’t believe that Britt would want Anna punished. or sent to prison, or a mental facility after the trauma she endured while being locked up and mentally tortured while at Wyndemere.
He asks Britt, “How could you even say that you want her locked up or prosecuted for what she did when you knew she was being held prisoner and you did nothing to save her?” Britt is stunned by Jason’s response.
Coming up, official General Hospital spoilers share that on the upcoming Monday, September 14 episode, Jason confides in Carly (Laura Wright), while Britt is stung. In the video preview that aired at the end of the Friday, September 11 episode for this coming Monday, Britt says to Jason, “You don’t believe me. Do you?”
General Hospital head scribes, Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte previously teased in their fall preview of the soap, “Britt and Jason have come a long way and fought a lot of enemies to be together. But the most stubborn obstacle to their happiness isn’t without, it’s within. Decisions Britt made to stay alive while under Cullum’s thumb will come back to haunt her and may prove too difficult for this unlikely couple to survive.”
