As of today, Canadian viewers will no longer see All My Children and One Life to Live carried on FX Canada.  In a statement, by FX Canada’s parent company, Rogers Media they related the following  “Due to changes in production beyond our control,  FX Canada will no longer be airing All My Children and One Life to Live. Beginning Monday, May 20, back-to-back episodes of critically-acclaimed series 30 Rock will air from noon to 1 p.m. ET on FX Canada.”

A Prospect Park rep told Soaps in Depth, “The terms of the F/X Canada deal stipulated a five day run. Now that the shows have been reduced, the agreement is no longer valid. However, the great news is that Canadian viewers can now access the shows via iTunes Canada.”

Yes, On-Air On-Soaps can confirm that All My Children and One Life to Live are available in Canada on iTunes! Well, this saddens me as I have been regularly watching the shows on FX Canada and enjoying every second. I purchased a multi-pass on itunes for the next 20 episodes, but I have to say, if a free option is not brought to Canada I will likely bow out eventually. I love both shows, and even more since (as far as I’m concerned) the writing has improved vastly. BUT… Fifty bucks for 100 episodes seems like a lot overall. I hope that PP is working on another option and am sticking with it for now. I guess I’ll see what my Canadian viewership future holds?

ps–this news coupled with the dialing back of episodes is starting to make me very uneasy. Are things truly as solid as they say? I’ve been trained by ABC over the years, so naturally I get weary/suspicious with these kinds of things. Hoping for the best. 🙂

I am truly becoming scared that this project is in serious trouble. I will be beyond devastated if it all falls apart and all of those ill wishers are proven right. I myself watch the episodes here in the states on Hulu plus as well as purchase episodes on Itunes. I do not understand what couldbbe going wrong, any business model takes into consideration every conceivable possiblity before launch, was this launch before being truly ready? The news we have been receiving lately makes it a challenge for loyal fans of both shows to keep the faith.

It is in serious trouble. Next will be US fans having to pay then cancellation this summer. The lawsuit against ABC & the timing was fishy. The episode changes per week were troubling. This news just proves PP doesn’t know what it is doing.

You have no idea what you’re talking about

No, she’s pretty much right on the money.

They should have started out with fewer episodes then increased them. I really think this puts them in jeopardy. People could lose interest and Hulu and iTunes could drop them. And it really sucks that we lost John Starr and Todd on GH because of a show that now only airs 2x a week.

agree wiht you 200%.. It”s like they are teasing us !!

I’m already losing interest. I bet a lot of people are, too. I haven’t even watched today’s and its usually the first thing I do. I was so excited the first couple of weeks but its going to be too slow paced to enjoy it now. I’ll still watch for now, but I don’t see it lasting and keeping the momentum of the last 3 weeks. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted!

Nice way to try to spin this. The good news is that you can pay for the shows Canadian fans instead of watching them for free! Aren’t you happy? This is ridiculous. First PP sues ABC in an attempt to get more money, now they lower their episode count knowing full well this will affect their contract with FX Canada and inconvenience their fans. Is PP that desperate for cash???? Regardless of how this gets spun, PP has no idea what they are doing or is looking for a short term cash infusion. This will not be a long term endeavour. Why, if they wanted cash so badly, didn’t PP revive AMC and keep earning money with OLTL characters on GH. Surely that lease would have garnered them enough money to begin this venture slow and steady? Instead they chose to fleece the fans. Get ready USA fans. Selling the shows without free access is coming next!

There has never been a free option in Canada…..maybe you were lucky enough to already be paying a TV package that included the channel so it made no difference to you, but many had to pay extra to upgrade packages, get cable boxes, switch providers etc.

Lisa, you are incorrect. FX Canada was free with Shaw basic digital cable service. I too had it included with my cable on FX Canada channel 156 at no additional charge ever. I called shaw to make sure this was not just a promotion and no it is part of your regular cable package. Very few people in this day and age do not already have digital tv in Canada so yes but same as ABC you were paying a Cable provider somewhere. But point is it was on cable this was excellent! This was how I watched every day as well and am most disappointed. NO I definitely will not purchase through I tunes. There are other options for free. Look me up on facebook any Cdn”s who need help with this. PP really shot themselves in the foot with this FX Canada deal. FX Canada gave them a real sweet deal and was airing the shows not once but 4times per day plus 2.5 hrs straight on Saturdays. They will lose millions of Cdn viewers over this I know. But as I said I will still be watching but not on I tunes.

Lindy,

I am not incorrect as FX Canada cost me $100 cancellation fee with Bell, a set up fee with Rogers and more. Several people have said they had to pay to upgrade their packages as with companies like Rogers FX Canada is part of the VIP cable package and they only had the basic package. So while it may have been free to you as your cable bill already included the station, which you’re lucky it was, for many this was not the case and they saw an increase to their monthly cable bill just to get the channel or to switch providers.

Yes it was never free in Canada . Hook- up fee of $100 , then box rental of $74.85 plus specialty pkg. of 29.85 every three mths.

This doesnt sound good…if fx canada drops the reboots it seems doubtful a u.s. cable will pick up the reboots in sept….i hope im wrong but this isnt a good sign…i feel cancellation by end of the year…!!!

i knew something was wrong when they lost one of the writers early on…

The first problem with the reboots is they took too long coming back and some viewers lost interest. Second soaps need network exposure…not everyone has internet. The fox network shouldve aired these reboots exactly the way pp planned them…actor pay cuts, filmed in conneticut, and aired 4 times a week with FRi airing a recap storyline of each show…the cursing, explicit sex scenes, should be dropped to attract the viewers who did not tune in because of it. Cut the gloominess and violence in half(the mob violence under guza nearly killed gh) replace this with more family drama, romance and even a little campiness to lighten up the show. Make it fun to watch. OLTL needs less Shelter and when its shown how about better song choices…not so loud…we want to hear the characters talking. I dont mind the human trafficking storyline on amc but lets not make it the shows main focus…have the teens in love triangles similiar to amcs early days…id rather see Miranda turn into a young Erica instead of teens with sex on their brains! Give us an Erica, Philip, Tara, and Chuck type storylines…dont have Brooke so goody…make her more like her snobby aunt Phoebe(How i miss these type of character you love to hate) Make Dimitri Celias benefactor and have him more like conniving Palmer who tries to keep Celia away from Pete ect…i want pure escapism and good old fashion soap opera character driven storylines more like they were in the 1970s. I dont mind some real life drama thats informative at times but at the same time i need to escape the horrors of the real world like the soaps used to do for me!

Also how about some in place advertising…oltl could show Jeffry and Destiny at a Subway or Mcdonalds and Janes on amc could serve coke or pepsi products…i know these shows already seem to have too long commercial breaks but the added in place advertising could generate more money profit for these shows which is greatly needed…

Also publicity gimmicks like Jcows guest appearances as Shelters bartender should be dropped, and it would save pp some money as well…get a cheaper extra for the part.

I agree with pretty much everything u said. I had been thinking of Phil & Tara, Jenny and Greg, etc. too

jenny greg angie and jesse and tad the cad…those were good memories too…they just cant write the soaps the way they used to…the best we got is rc at gh…he falters here and there at times but still manages to keep me entertained.

Amen to each and everything you wrote! It’s nice to know someone shares my opinion of the show’s direction exactly. Yes, it was a wonderful escape each and every day . Thank you for your wise and intelligent view on these matters. Yes, indeed, “All My Children” certainly had it going on back in the day!!!

First of all, I don’t blame FX Canada for deciding to discontinue airing AMC and OLTL. I was so grateful to them for taking this on and being able to actually view on my television rather than on line. It was like a dream come true! Wow, it was great while it lasted but Prospect Park shamefully did not fulfill their part of the contract. I think this turn of events by PP causes me to be more saddened than when the shows were cancelled in 2011 and that’s saying a lot! I’m not ashamed to admit I was devastated with the loss of “All My Children” after having watched for decades (began watching in 1974.) I did not watch “One Life to Live” but surely can appreciate how those fans are feeling also!
After so much excitement and such an enormous feeling of gratitude to Prospect Park for bringing back the “Magic,” all I can say now it is plainly and simply …..One Big Slap in the Face!!! Talk about opening old wounds!! This turn of events is unbelievable and to say I am bewildered is a total understatement!!! Unless things miraculously change somehow, I guess it’s good-bye for me but not before adding that this has turned into a real nightmare and I’m sorry also for all the other dedicated fans of both shows, who I know full well, are feeling as frustrated as I am. Frustrated doesn’t even begin to describe how miserable I feel in comparison to the level of exhilaration I felt that afternoon on April 29th (my birthday to boot!) when I sat down and welcomed home my dear friends from Pine Valley! How did things go so wrong so quickly? SO SAD!!!!!!!!

My sentiments exactly! I watched both shows since the beginning and when they were cancelled, I lost my best friends; I was devastated. I was thrilled FX was hosting them and signed up for that channel immediately. I can’t afford iTunes so I’m devastated again and have a channel I will no longer watch. So sad.

I think the first problem with the reboots was PP biting off more than they could chew. I read the suggestion here – they should have kept OLers on GH and launched AMC while still receiving revenue from ABC for leasing the 3 OL characters. It was silly to launch both shows at once & even sillier to sue ABC right before the launch. It reeked of desperation and made it seem like the programs were already in danger. They could have launched O L after the AMC launch, after they began making a profit.

PP lawsuit was a big mistake…they argued gh wrote for the ol characters without their consent and gh had to write them off as if they were never there but then the oltl storylines included what mostly happen with the Todd baby switch storyline anyway! At first i put most blame on abc but now pp are the biggest idiots here…they shouldve allowed all three characters continue on gh, and used them on oltl when they were needed…both shows couldve benefitted from crossover storylines as some fans wouldve followed John, Todd and Starr on both shows…John and Natalie couldve appeared together on both shows but now its too late and pp will be the biggest looser in the end…i still think PP shouldve renamed both soaps maybe as Pine Valley and as My Life and aired them once a week as one hour soaps like the ones in primetime such as the Dallas reboot.

In my opinion, for the shows to succeed, Hulu should be viewable, legally in Canada, until then….. Firefox + Media Hint = Hulu.

Iceberg dead ahead!

this is way too soon for everything to be crumbling. something’s amiss…

Well, I guess I have watched the last of these shows. I pay enough for cable and internet as it is, not going to pay iTunes to watch. Was a faithful viewer of both shows on FXCanada. Thank you, Prospect Park for taking them away from us, yet again. For those of you fans in the U.S.A., get ready, cause this is the beginning of the end.

Shut the hell up!

That sucks for Canadian fans. Hopefully this will change in a year when PP is able to keep up with the demand.

I CAN NOTa fford and will not be viewing the soaps on ITunes.

I will be downloading the new episodes on iTunes as soon as they become available, still waiting for today’s episode to be posted. However still disappointed and upset over the fact that myself and many people had to pay a lot of money to switch providers (contract fees are $100 alone) and that was only good for three weeks.

I can’t afford to watch them via iTunes and am heartbroken FX Canada removed them… I HAD to have this channel when I found out FX Canada was hosting them, now I have a channel I no longer care to watch ever again!

Sorry FX Canada, it was you I was blaming for no longer hosting my soaps but as I’ve read comments here, I see that it is PP I should be blaming. However, when it’s all said and done, I no longer have soaps to watch so I’m the loser in all of this. I’m losing my bf’s once again.

I am so disappointed that AMC has been removed from FX Canada. I was so enjoying watching it again. I have been watching since it started and it became part of my life. First it is cut back to 2 episodes a week and then taken of FX. I am not sure what I will do now. Are we going to lose AMC again?

these dumbass kiddie story lines are what killed oltl in the first place! there are so many talented older actors on the show that dont get nearly enough story lines! they should also learn that the annoying music they play drowns out the characters voices and makes people want to turn their computers off, not watch!

Amen to that!

Come on have faith and be happy w what we have! 2.00 a show is cheaper then going to the movies! Whether it took a year or two we HAVE THEM BACK!

If you want to send me the $8/week, then I will gladly watch on ITunes. Personally, I can’t afford it.

I’m right there with u on cost situation. That’s $400 + per year – that would take me to a lot of movies ! Sad to say I’m gone as a viewer unless its back in TV or free thru the Internet. This totally sucks. Some said it perfectly earlier – ice berg dead ahead !

That is 2.00 for 20 min. (minus the commercials)! Too rich for me. Unfortunately it is dead for me unless it is brought back to cable, which I pay dearly for already!

this stinks fdor the Canadian viewers. If some one is one a tight budget they will not be able to view it. I know I would not be able to. But I am loving the show!

I was watching both soaps on FX Canada. It was great seeing them on television again. It is really unfortunate that FX Canada has decided not to continue with these soaps. I will not be paying to view them through iTunes. Hopefully, there is an outlet where us Canadians can view for free.

No matter what happens, and I hope OLTL survives, I think all the actors were there and present ready to make this work.

OLTL was suppose to be set in real time, a year and a half from where ABC’s ended… they failed to say that there would be no expiations as to Victor, Starr, Jessica, and John. I think this left a big hole in the first two weeks of the reboot. It seemed OLTL was finally starting to get some stories of their own going, but it should make the most of the time that is left to get the original viewer re-hooked, the show has such a rich history to draw from. We just have to look at what Frank and Ron have achieved with GH.

I think that the writers should hire Erika Slezak to co-write the show, Jerry VanDorn just stated on Fridays recap show that she remembers most ever storyline vividly. Myself, I have viewed since 1978.

I am so ticked off as I pay so much for my cable and internet and can not pay any extra !!!!! I was enjoying the 2 programs as well as the others on fx canada I will no longer watch that channel !!!!!

I’m not sure why you are pissed at FX Canada. They entered into an agreement with Prospect Park for so many episodes a week, it was not fX Canada that cut down to 2 episodes a week, it was Prospect Park.

Something is really wrong here. I’m afraid to get too invested now. What could have happened in 2 short weeks that made everything crumble? Whole thing is absurd. I think that prospect has to be totally honest with us. Their survey had no validity in such a short time frame. I feel bad for the actors . i think they were stunned by this also. Although I have to believe they were warned of this before it went public. So will someone out there let us know what gives.

That’s exactly how I feel. This is disgraceful to the fans and to the actors/film crew to reboot this whole thing – for what? I don’t trust PP to make sound business decisions. When ABC cancelled AMC the fittest time around – on principal I stopped watching ABC entirely. So ultimately they lost me at the expense of all their other shows because I banned their entire network. I’ve watched AMC for 40 years. This whole thing disgusts me.

***if anyone remotely connected with the show reads all of the comments here, then you should make sure the powers that be reada them.

Angela I also have banned ABC/ Disney. PP has always been connected to ABC. I think they are just using this as a tax write-off.

As of last Thursday, I stopped watching. Lost interest in the storylines and unfortunately, for me, they are not getting better only worse. And now with all this backstage drama going on, it does not bode well for the future of this endeavor. It was a noble experiment but I don’t see them making any changes that we actually bring viewer in – just drive them away.

totally agree

Me too! I was disappointed with the story lines and was hoping that the were still setting the stage for more juicy, intriguing plots. I guess we will never know in Canada unless we PAY.

I specifically added FX Canada to my cable package so I could watch AMC and OLTL. They have both been fantastic. I really like the pace and story lines. I will remove FX Canada and go to iTunes to view. Is there any possibility of Netfix Canada? On Hulu in the US how long can you access shows? Just wondering.

I’m in Canada and i watch on hulu…for free….all i did was download Hola unblocker…which is FREE and it makes Hulu think you are in the US. Easy as that!

please tell me how to do this! I’m in Canada too and I have been watching both these shows since the beginning, I’m so upset FX Canada will no longer host them.

just add Media Hint to your firefox or chrome browser… does not work with any other browsers.

I will continue watching both shows online and I hope everyone else supports both shows also.

I have said from the beginning that I would be willing to pay a subscription fee. When I heard PP got sponsors to help offset any cost for the viewers, I was thrilled obviously, but mentally I was prepared all along to fork over a little money. But then I didn’t know what was happening here in Canada, until voila, FX Canada came in and saved the day….which, for me, was no additional charge since I already have a box that gives me those higher channels. Total wIn-win!

Now that I’m going back to plan A, I am still ready and willing to pay. It’s $20 every 6ish weeks for both shows, now that they’ve cut back each show to only twice a week. I can swing that. Not everyone can, and I understand that. And I feel really badly for those who signed up for a cable package to give them the channel, or switched altogether from another carrier, just so they can be included and watch their shows too. But for me, I am more than happy to pay a little to support the cause and enjoy my shows. It’s definitely worth it for me, and I just really hope it’ll reflect well for PP.

Just want to add, I put my money where their mouth is. I am now subscribed on iTunes Canada.

Also, as unhappy as Canadians may be at this news, try and keep in mind the bigger picture. A year and a half ago, we were all so upset that ABC could just toss away our soaps like the last 40+ years meant diddly squat. Don’t let this news make you feel as badly as that did then because they’re not the same news! Nothing is dead, no one is pulling the plug. Just keep supporting the shows! In ANY way you can. But please don’t lose sight of what truly awful news feels like, to an inconvenient and costly annoyance that this is.

Wow, the ship is gong down faster than I predicted. I do not know a single person talking about these reboots. I do not know anyone talking about daytime soaps like they used to years ago. Oprah was right and as a long time fan of all my children it pains me to say that. I decided against watching as the shows will not last. Will they have enough money to edit what has already been filmed. When will the checks start bouncing.

I was viewing AMC on FXCanada every eposide including Friday.I was so sad to think I may lose AMC again. Happy I have found them on itunes.
I feel sorry for the fans that signed up for FXCanada to have them cancelled. PP is to blame and I have a strange feeling about all this.

PP big mistake was its lawsuit against abc…they shouldve allowed GH keep the characters of John, Todd, and Starr, especially since oltl used most of their gh storyline anyway…plus it was good publicity for both shows with the crossover references…now pp is the biggest looser here. what abc shouldve done was air the 30 minute reboots for 6 months from sept. to jan. then aired the chew from feb. to august. with oltl and amc returning every 6 months with new episodes…and then the chew would air for six months with its new episodes ect.

I have to say I think I’m done…I was over the moon when it was announced that FX Canada was going to carry the shows.
But with the scale back now ,I don’t think I’m going to bother.

Oh yes, the scale back! Do they really think we are all so naive to believe what they are trying to insinuate as to the reason for this turn of events? Here we were all being teased about the prospect of many of our favourite actors returning to the show. Why would they??? How can one expect any of them to have any meaningful story line when there is simply not enough time to devote to them. Can you even imagine, Erica, Jack, Tad, Kendall, Crystal, Jake, Amanda, just to name a few rejoining a show that is on twice a week for less than a half hour? Where on earth would they find air time to make things interesting with the daily goings on in the lives of these much loved characters?
There is something missing in this recipe and the proof is in the pudding! Lets face it….. The show requires a lot more time not a lot less!! Viewers will soon find themselves bored stiff continually watching the same story line day in and day out! There is simply not enough time to inject other interesting happenings with many of our former favourites because it’s simply not fesible! Oh how I miss so many of Pine Valley’s former residents and can only hope things will go back to the way they were. Trying to remain optimistic but it really is becoming increasingly more difficult!!

I agree. The marketing logic of PP escapes me. They should be trying to get these two shows out to every free medium they can possibly get their hands on. Not trying to sell the shows direct to the viewers thru iTunes & the like. The shows should be making their money on advertising sponsorships. Various sites display the show and viewers end up buying something thru the site = advertising dollars = air time. The more viewers the more sales. It’s a simple concept really. Whomever they have in their marketing dept should be fired. A few small changes to the way the shows broadcast could make them very successful.

WHAT! Only 1 hour a week? hum scary. So they why could we not have Todd, Star and John back on General Hospital it sound like there isn’t going to be much room to tell the stories of all the Characters it 2 episode a week??? 🙁

So disappointed at the recent events and many changes. I must admit I wasn’t happy to see FX Channel had the rights to AMC and OLTL solely. I am hoping this will lead to another station picking this up if not before but definitely by Sept.

I was really enjoying them on FXCanada, so I’m disappointed. I’m a Shaw subscriber, so that channel was already included in my digital package. I bought the multipack for both AMC & OLTL on iTunes, but it’s now 6pm Mountain time and today’s AMC is not yet available, which is ridiculous. I’ve canceled the automatic renewal on iTunes Canada as I won’t be watching via them if that’s the kind of service they’re going to provide. Instead I’ve downloaded Spotflux and have signed up for hulu.com Congrats Prospect Park, you’ve turned a lot of Canadians into illegal downloaders 😉

I’m devastated to find out that FX Canada will no longer be hosting AMC and OLTL. Please bring them back, please! It was perfect the way they were playing, I could catch it 3 times a day; if I missed the noon time episodes I could catch them at 5:00pm or 4 am. This worked perfect. Please, I don’t want to loose them again, have a heart… PLEASE!

I watched on FX Canada. I will definitely not be paying to watch online since my cable bill is already enough. If it comes back to tv I will be happy to watch.

What a disappointment! Hopefully something can be worked out with FX Canada to bring the shows back. It looks like I won’t be watching the show. For the computer novices out there (like myself who barely know how to retrieve emails) I’m sure most of us won’t be seeing the shows on ITunes. Just when things were getting interesting. I thought the ratings were supposed to be good?

I was so saddened to find out that I just added the fx package to my already high cable bill just so that I could watch my beloved All My Children again only to find that they have now taken it away from us again. This show has been the perfect escape from my life. For one hour a day to nothing to 1/2hr to nothing again. My heart goes out to all of the Canadian fans. I guess we just are not important enough. SO SAD! I will now have to cancel FX that I just signed up for. I do not have an ipod or iphone so I will not be able to watch…..

Why couldn’t they just show AMC/OLTL from noon to 12:30 p.m. followed by 30 Rock from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.?

Who watches reruns of 30 Rock? If you didn’t watch before they ended I’m sure there are no viewers at 12:00 or 12:30…

Exactly. So FX Canada should continue to show the PP offering from noon to 12:30 p.m. weekdays, along with I-tunes for those without cable. I’m tired of childish corporate responses.

Wow – after three weeks, the shows release cycle has been cut in half, and they’ve lost their Canadian distribution platform. Clearly, the number of people streaming and downloading are coming in FAR lower than Prospect Park ever anticipated. That’s the thing with internet distribution – the numbers are exact, and aren’t disputable (unlike TV ratings, which take a sample and extrapolate). My guess is that the shows won’t go back into production in August.

I am so disappointed that AMC has been cancelled on FX Canada. I was so excited to see this show again, but will not be paying a premium on ITunes to see it. Please bring it back…..Thanks.

I got myself and other fans to subscribe to FX Canada specifically for the 2 soaps! No sense pinning a channel on one’s show as they are more and more proven unreliable. They didn’t even give them a timely fair shake for viewers to come back!

I was so happy to have OLTL back and was able to watch FX for free as part of my cable package. Would have continued to watch, but will not pay iTunes to watch which means I cannot support my fave show. So sad.

Really disappointed losing AMC all over again… Bought the newest Shaw Direct recordable receiver PVR630 $299.00 because AMC could only be viewed on FX Canada with this newest satelite receiver and now it’s cancelled.
You can’t change your minds like a yoyo, promise episodes then cancel.
I guess this is the trend nowadays, like marriage, you promise to stay together then all of a sudden it’s over.

That just totally sucks!! I had to buy an additional package to get FX Canada to watch OLTL and AMC. but now I am cancelling it. Watching through itunes will be too expensive. Come on get your S**T together. I am a loyal fan and not impressed

I think that what fx did was totally uncalled for… They said.. Isn”t it funny that it”s alway someting that they do not want to take the blame for . Therefore they always say that it was something beyond their control That is a lot of rubbish Last and formost I just wanted to say that there are a lots of programmes on fx that make no sense… I AM ONE ANGRY WOMEN !!!!!!!!
you should all be ashamed of yourselves.. Bring back ALL My children and ONe life to live !!!!!!!

I am extremely disappointed…..

Get this guys! Here I am a mature grown woman having raised three grown, wonderful children and now the mother of three dear, sweet kitties ( they are my babies now) and not to forget the fact that I do, indeed have a wonderful husband with whom I have shared almost 40 years of marriage. Life surely has been good to me and continues to be so. However, just moments ago I found myself bursting into tears. This is not something I make a habit of doing but pride be darned. This whole business with “All My Children” has been one big roller coaster ride…….with the cancellation of the show in 2011, to the almost return shortly thereafter, which did not come to fruition. That was a disappointment to say the least! Earlier this year, I get the news that the show is genuinely being resurrected and will premiere on my birthday, April 29th. Wow, an indescribable feeling that can’t be put into words! Actually sitting down in front of my own TV to watch “All My Children” on FX Canada was amazing to say the least!!! I, in no way blame FX Canada for discontinuation of my , let me say Proud Pleasure . The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of Prospect Park. They did not honour their contract , which seems very foolish to me, therefore why wouldn’t FX Canada pull out!. Guess I should really get to my point. This show found a place in the hearts of so many die-hard fans for many, many years and like myself, I know they too grieved over it’s demise. Yes, it was like a miracle to be reunited with our dear friends of Pine Valley. I don’t think any network, etc. can fully understand the magnitude of our love and devotion to this show. I had been perusing the web to find out anything I could about the show since I have not seen the last two episodes. It sounds rediculous but when I saw the return of Billy Clyde Tuggle, I just lost it! For years I have wished that he would somehow reappear and now here he is in all his glory……what a fine, fine actor and so fun to watch and chuckle over. I always wondered if Mr, U would one day return…..remember when he jumped from a plane? His storyline was connected to Opal, but I’m sure those who remember him, know that already. The tears that I shed were solely due to this emotional roller coaster I have already referred to. Like the situation of so many others, money is not all that easy to come by and there is always something that takes a much needed priority. Had the show , as I had expected it to, been aired through out the week , I could see myself dishing out the cash to be able to Watch. Here in Canada, if I am not mistaken, it is $1.99 to view each episode on iTunes and with only two half hour shows per week, accompanied by the real possibility that things could very easily come to a screeching halt (and I do apologize for insinuating that) I ask myself, ” Do I really want to put my heart out there again only to be devestated all over again?” Prospect Park has led us down the garden path and have never fully understood how much “All My Children” really means to those who have lovingly followed it for such a remarkable length of time! I can’t even fathom why ABC let the show go. Sure wish they had used better judgement. One last comment before I go……as for trying to garner a younger audience, that has never really been a problem in my opinion. My kids became fans just because the show was on each and every day while growing up. It just gets passed down from parent to child and no one had to do any arm twisting! I’m pretty certain this pattern could not help but be repeated. I do apologize for this terribly long comment which lends itself to possibly being ignored all together but it feels good to express my frustration! I hope you forgive me, for being so long winded, it certainly wasn’t my intention when I began this comment. All the very best to my fellow friends of Pine Valley and God Bless!!!

I agree with the above comment. My sentiments exactly. Was a viewer since 1974 and was sad to lose both shows. I wrote to MoreAMC on the day Billy Clyde returned to welcome him back and also to thank them for airing on FX Canada. Well I guess this is good bye again to me as I am on a pension and will not be ordering from iTunes. So sad.

Well I can see these shows wont be around much longer.!!!!

I am very unhappy about this. I was a loyal viewer of AMC for 29 years before it was cancelled. I loved the show and it was part of my daily routine…eat my lunch while watching it. It was difficult adjusting to life without it! However, I did and accepted that it was gone. THEN it comes back! And on TV too! Yes, it was only half an hour but better than nothing. THEN I have it yanked away from me again. Despite how I feel about the show, I refuse to pay the ridiculous fee iTunes wants to charge. So bye bye AMC….again.

This sucks!!!!!!! I am a long time fan and was very sad when it was cancelled. I have been watching faithfully everyday on FXCanada. Now??? Well I guess I get to go without because we all don’t have the luxury of being able to afford it online!!!!!!!

So I guess it’s farewell to Pine Valley and Llanview for me!!!

Was so pleased when I heard All My Children was on Cogeco cable 410 fx Canada that I subscribed to this station but now it has been removed I think I no longer like this station. I can watch it when I am in the USA online but in Canada they want to chage me extra again to watch it. What ‘s next.?

I feel when they took it off ABC and put on some dumb cooking show I refused to what ABC in this time slot.

All my kids growing up which are considered the younger generation grew to love this show.. My husband would not go out if he had to miss the show. Sorry they had to cancel it.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
