EXCLUSIVE: GH’s Adrian Anchondo Previews Marco’s Involvement in ‘Who Shot Drew?’
When the action picks-up this week on ABC’s General Hospital, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) will be back in the story, and we haven’t seen him since two major crimes were committed in Port Charles: Judge Heran was murdered and thrown into the pier, and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was shot twice in the back in an attempt on his life.
After all, things really kicked into high gear when Marco ran to Drew to tell him that Judge Heran accepted a $1 million bribe to rule in Michael’s favor at the custody hearing for Amelia and Wiley. Marco wanted to pin everything on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), who in his mind is the responsible party for the death of his mother, Natalia Rogers-Ramirez (Eva LaRue). Problem is when his dad, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) found out what he did, he shouted as his son that he ruined all of his plans to bring Sonny down. Next thing you know, the judge is dead and Drew has been shot.
General Hospital newcomer, Adrian Anchondo chatted with Michael Fairman during an exclusive conversation now on the Michael Fairman Channel, where he discusses not only his current storyline, but his co-stars including his on-screen love interest, Van Hanis (Lucas), the exited Eva LaRue, Carlo Rota and more. In addition, Adrian teases what’s to come and what fans should be on the lookout for as the suspect list grows and grows for who wanted Drew dead (although nobody could blame anyone for doing).

Anchodo spoke on why Marco spilled to Drew that Judge Heran was bribed and his alter-ego’s true reasons behind it, “I think it’s that that built-up rage and that built-up pain. He couldn’t wait for his father to make a business decision. He wanted him to act from his heart, the way he acted from his heart when Marco came out to him, you know, accepting him and loving him right away. I think that Marco is questioning, ‘Where are you?’ That’s why Marco creams, “I don’t care about those piers. That’s not what we’re talking about here. I thought we were on the same page about what this punishment (for Sonny) has to come from.” I think, in the end all that mattered was that Sonny was punished and hurt. Marco just wants the healing process to speed up faster. I don’t know if Marco is going to realize that a lot of this pain might be coming from his own guilt.”

Coming up, might Marco use his legal expertise to further bring down Sonny, or someone else related to the ‘Who Shot Drew?’ attempted murder case? Anchondo teased, “I think that you will start to see some interesting relationships form because of Marco’s work and because of his emotions and his relationship with his father.”
While the jury is out on how Marco’s moral compass will be comprised, if at all, by his next actions, Adrian suggested, “I think (viewers will feel) some annoyance, maybe. I think that like many of the characters, you’re going to question motives, and you’re going to question their intelligence and what their intentions are. (When I found out) I thought, ‘Oh, this is an interesting twist! Where is this going to go?’ I’m also really excited about this explosion between father (Sidwell) and son (Marco). I think it could be the start of an unraveling of a relationship.”

Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) is already in the hot seat for his disdain for Drew, and for benefitting if the Judge could never admit she took a bribe. Some believe Michael or Sonny might be framed for this act.
Anchondo weighed-in on how Marco views Michael, “I think that Marco might actually relate a little bit to Michael. Not only just being a son of someone who’s ‘horrible,’ but I think that, Marco probably sees Michael as someone who is just doing the best they can with the hand that they were dealt.”
According to Anchondo, fan response has been swift. They want Marco to be a good guy! “I was at the General Hospital Fan Club Event recently, and the fans said, ‘Please don’t turn bad,” recalled Adrian. “Everyone wants Marco to be really good. I think the interesting thing about soaps is that there’s a little bit of good and bad in everyone. I saw online someone say online, ‘a hero and a villain’s origin story is pretty much the same.’ They all start off that they were hurt by someone. They were an orphan, or the system brought them down, or something was taken away from them, and they grew up in poverty, whatever it might be. But what makes the hero or the villain is how they choose to respond to their stresses and to their pain. And in any moment, someone who is a hero could be a villain, and someone who’s a villain could be a hero in the same. In that same week Marco was lashing out, he also rescued Kristina (Kate Mansi) from the fire at Charlie’s.”

Viewers have yet to seen where Marco was the night Judge Heran was found dead in the pier and Drew was shot. With this being Adrian’s first soap opera whodunnit storyline, he summed it up best, adding, “I think everyone’s ties make them a suspect on this show, which makes it so much fun.It’s like a never-ending Clue.”

I love Marco and wish he had more choices for lovers other than drippy Lucas. If Lucas were still played by Ryan Carnes, the heat would be off the charts!
I hope Ricky Martin does make an appearance as Adrian suggested in the interview. What a hot love triangle that would be !!

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Josslyn is taken aback. Ava courts a new ally. Jordan and Anna catch up. Isaiah vents to Lucas and Elizabeth. Michael questions Jacinda.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80
Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.
PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
