GENERAL HOSPITAL: Alexis Accepts Julian's Proposal, Patrick Fears The Worst Has Happened To Robin, Sam Admits Her Feelings To Jason!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Let’s start by recapping two of our favorite lines on Monday’s episode of General Hospital!  Just before hitting the red carpet at the Nutcracker Gala, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) says to Franco (Roger Howarth):  “Hi. Who are you wearing  … and do they know you are discreating their brand?”  This is followed up by Franco, who whispers into Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) ear while he and Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) are posing for a photo opp, and Liz despite herself  joins them:  “See, all you have to do is show up with two people that everybody hates more than you and you end up looking like Malala.”  While those were some more lighthearted moments, there was plenty of drama going on and even a marriage proposal!

Courtesy/ABC

Patrick (Jason Thompson), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) are shown a poloraid photo no less, of what looks to be a very dead Robin (Kimberly McCullough) by Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche).  After he explains to the Scorpios and Dr. Drake how Helena (Constance Towers) held Robin to find away to give her some sort of eternal life through her research, a duplicitious Jerry is soon surrounded by his henchmen.  After a fight with Jerry’s goons, Robert gives Patrick a gun and tells him to go search for Robin.  At the end of the episode, Patrick finds her, but we don’t know what he sees on the other side as the show fades to black.

On the couples front: in a heartfelt proposal at the Nutcracker Gala, Julian (William deVry), after getting permission from the Davis girls, asks Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to marry him.  She answers in true Alexis-fashion, but is overwhelmed with joy and accepts Julian’s proposal telling him she has never loved a man like she has loved him.  It was nicely played by Nancy Lee Grahn and Julian Jerome, and we are sure the Julexis Army was cheering loudly.

Meanwhile inside the gala, after a tipsy Liz lashes out at Laura (Genie Francis) in front of Jason (Billy Miller), he leaves to get some air. He happens upon Sam (Kelly Monaco) also outside the gala having a drink since she was upset seeing Jason looking at Liz.   After Jason and Sam start-up a conversation, he notices she doesn’t have a ring on her finger from Patrick.   Sam says, “We mutually decided to end things.”  Jason asks, “Why?”  Sam responds, “Because I loved him, but not the way I love you.”  How will Jason respond to Sam’s admission?

Courtesy/ABC

And in a nicely played moment by Laura Wright (Carly) and Maurice Benard (Sonny), Sonny is clearly uncomfortable going with Carly to the Nutcracker gala, because he can’t dance with her while he is stuck in a wheelchair.   Carly is understanding and in touching moments tells Sonny she loves him.   She then goes to the gala and Sonny stays home.  Later, we learn something must be up with Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) when she visits Sonny, and takes  a selfie with her dad.  That moment seemed to indicate she had some ulterior motive for doing that. What is Kristina up to?

The episode also featured Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) in a Santa disguise to get close to Sabrina (Teresa Castillo), and Michael (Chad Duell) realizing from key intel from Monica that Sabrina must be lying about the patenity of her baby! Additionally, while the gala continued on, Paul (Richard Burgi) and Ava (Maura West), who can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other are getting busy with one another in a hotel room.

So, what was your favorite moment from Monday’s episode?  Did you like the major Julexis scenes?  Sonny and Carly? Jason and Sam? Patrick, Anna, and Robert against Jerry?  Liz being tipsy?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I really don’t like this..
Married couples get back burned because they are boring and hard to write for outside of love problems..
The vivid Julian and Alexis will be grandma and grandma lusty sex and excitement gone.. Married couples are written one way= boring.
We have to wait the usual 3 months to their break up / same old stuff from the 80’s….

J&S are a horrible match for GH..
They are grandma’s writing the same scripts from the 80’s..
GH needs young blood writers, men in their 30’s, modern guys that can write 21st century media/stories.. GH needs man power..

Some memories of J&S;

Michaels ED/erectile cancer (stupid & dull/ no drama

Avery the cupcake queen. Avery cooking and baking in every scene her cupcakes (WTH that was that junk/ no drama

Fen doing dope and dull prisons scenes/ no drama..

Gave Devon Billions of dollars he did absolutely nothing with it/ no drama

Put Phyllis in a coma/ no drama

Jack killed a prostitute, still no drama

Gave Sharin electroconvulsive therapy.. lol

Who is Summers daddy DNA stuff/boring

The music box story.. worst soap story of all time and no drama..

And the ones I missed on the the 2013-2014 list I slept through it..

(J&S will kill GH.. It is not meant be a love-in, it is GH for godsake!

Again, your facts are way off. Big shock. LOL. Nearly every one of those stories you mentioned were penned by Josh Griffith. He handed over a MESS of a show to the ladies, and they were just starting to make it really good when Pratt took over. Similarly they were handed an unwatchable steaming pile from Carlivati and have been faced with the DAUNTING, Hurculean task of turning GH around. Take your own advice Su….a) It’s only a soap b) If you don’t like it, don’t watch.

Hi Dylan.. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
well,
I went by the dates.. 2013 to 2015

Passanante was named head writer of The Young and the Restless, working alongside Shelly Altman. Passanante’s tenure was from December 23, 2013 to March 18, 2015,

Dylan, THANK YOU!!

To be fair not all those stories you mentioned were J&S, many of them were Josh G. but cling to the hope if the ratings for GH continue to drop no doubt a change in head writers will soon follow. I know it is my Christmas soap wish that Pratt is lure away from Y&R so he can inflict his brand of writing on a soap, by your own words needs his ‘manly’ touch.

Hi Mary SF.. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

GH really stinks, now ..
I can only hope for a save from new male writers to up the game!

Timmm
Timmm

Regardless of who wrote what, your point is well taken, the stories were horrific! I will give Jean and Shelly credit on writing Julian’s proposal. It was sweet the way he asked all of Alexis’s daughters for permission and then popped the question. We hadnt seen ANY of that with Ron. su0000, have a Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! 🙂

(LOL Ron saved me from the mush but- he did have his share of Robin & Patrick mush he put on me.
RC wrote love mush on OLTL, but GH was not a OLTL type of soap..

J&S Interview with MF-
The first time since 2002 that a GH head writing team is women.

When asked if they feel their take on the GH canvas will be different because they are women, Altman responded: “I don’t necessarily. I think each individual writer brings his or her own experience to the table.
Jean and I are both women and we are both mothers.
You can’t help but have some of that influence your ideas, your thoughts.
We will approach everything from a woman’s sensibility because we are women.”

Again;
”We will approach everything from a woman’s sensibility because we are women.”

that ^^^^ is not GH …

DYLAN
DYLAN

Actually, THAT is GH. GH has been revitalized and restored in its long history mainly by women! First of all, as the show was nearing cancellation, Gloria Monty came in and turned it around and made it number one. Then in 1993, two women named Wendy Riche and Claire Labine came in and turned the show into the hallmark, the Gold Standard for what soaps were, are, and could and should be. The ratings soared, it was critically praised, and won Emmy’s galore. After that, Phelps came in, and love her or hate her, she helmed the show for over a decade and won many more Emmys and produced some phenomenal sweeps stunts and disasters. So in fact, Su, that IS GH…powerful talented women running this show is nothing new. It has been the men running the show who have been disappointing…Guza, Wolf, Carlivati, etc.

Tristan
Tristan

Dylan, thank you for saving me from having to write a history lesson for Su000. I don’t understand the disdain for female writers. They are the reason that GH became the cultural institution it did. J&S are trying to restore that tradition and salvage what had become an unwatchable macho mess. It was Gloria Monty who created the template for action/adventure in daytime. A woman did this. Not a man. A woman!

su0000
su0000

J&S are women writers but nonetheless are doing GH no good.. they are a horrible match for GH..
(they stink lol)
YAWN SNORE COMATIZED..

Dylan I’m no fan of phelps but your right on about what you wrote, what in heavens does su0000 smoke? She’s obsessed with carlivati, why ? I don’t know.

Lew S.

Thank you again!!!!

su0000
su0000

Yes. GH has had women writers, and they were above snooze
No histor need simply observation.
The few other women writers brought on action, climactic build up and suspenseful endings, and GH was entertaining..
J&S are far writing anything entertaining. And far from the women writers before them on GH.
I said nothing of other women writers, I am not concerned about them they are not writing, now.

su0000
su0000

hey DYLAN..
Jean and Shelly together are nowhere near to being as good as ”Gloria Monty ”.
No comparison. Gloria was in a class of her own but J&S can never be as Gloria Monty .
J&S stink writing for GH.. YAWN ..

(I would give a piece of gold to Gloria Monty back) but- not going to happen.

Timmm
Timmm

Tony Geary is daytime royalty and he couldnt put Gloria Monty on a high enough shelve in regards to her talent and place in daytime history so that there says enough for me. Its not the gender, its the talent!

su0000
su0000

hey Timmm..
True..
My granny soap neighbor has mentioned many times of the great
…. Agnes Nixon…
((J&S are nowhere near her league))

I did like Guzza, he mixed it up, np yawning..
GH has some great male writers..
Thing is.. I believe J&S are the only female HW left from the 20th century, and they are a bad match for GH..

RME at the speed Sam went from begging Patrick to not end it to pretending her engagement ended my “mutual agreement.” Also how can she spend a year around a person, feel nothing for them and then suddenly declare to be in love with him. She loves a memory, not a man–and certainly not the man Jason is now

I just HATE that we’re recycling old fan wars and storylines. And the energy between Jason & Sam is SO low, that the only chemistry created is the kind that will induce sleep.

Anne
Anne

ITA about Sam and Patrick. She changed almost instantaneously. Writing like this cheapens the show. It’s like they are stringing together scenes with no continuity.

Lucy D.
Lucy D.

That’s what I think. It’s like the childhood game of telephone. Someone writes one day, someone writes the next day and no one knows what the other is doing.

There is something seriously wrong with this show.

Ces
Ces

I agree Lucy. She doesn’t even know this Jason and they have limited chemistry. I don’t know if it was the whole year he spent with Liz or the fact that Kelly M. seems half asleep in most her scenes, but the two together are making me sleepy too.
Kelly M. had way more energy & chemistry with Jason T. IMHO

Lucy D.
Lucy D.

On another board someone named them Sambien. That’s so true.
There’s no chemistry, no energy–no engagement.
Maybe this is BM trying to channel a borg, but I’m bored

I loved, loved Julian’s proposal to Alexis and her response! Full of heart! I was crying and cheering at the same time! I hope GH gives us a beautiful wedding to match. And I know they can’t be blissful forever, but I hope for a while they can take on life’s challenges together, the way Dante and Lulu used to…..

I loved the Julexis stuff. The love of a good woman has redeemed a man. How refreshing and inspiring. It was great to see the Scorpio clan together, if a little familiar. FH and TR are so good.
I guesS Sabrina is in trouble now that Monica spilled the beans about the baby being due in a few weeks. That SL is so OOC and whack. aNother budding family I enjoy is Tracy and Paul. Not crazy about her being played. Again.
Julian asking the Davis Girls if he can marry their mother was brill. Kristina’s moment with Sonny was very sweet, too. Love #GH and the cast. Everyone looked gorg at the Gala.

Shay
Shay

Seems you’re as impressed by the prospect of this ludicrous marriage as I am, jimh, you naughty, naughty boy!!!!!

Harry
Harry

They don’t fit, so you must acquit! For me, Alexis and Julian just don’t jive as a couple.
William deFry is a pretty boy and clearly spends a lot of time making himself look younger. Nancy Lee Grahn is ten years older than he is and she looks her age. Do not call me an ageist,–Nancy looks terrific, but she looks her age, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, the ten year disparity in their ages looks to be close to fifteen years due to the TLC William gives to his body and his face (he’s so vain, he probably thinks this post is about him).
I love May-December romances but we are to believe that Jillian, er, Jullian, is a couple of years older than Alexis. And when Julian is in the same room with Sam, I half expect her to seduce him the way she did Ric. Julian and Sam look to be about the same age and I sometimes forget he is supposed to be her father. All this is fine and well but we as viewers are supposed to turn a blind eye to their age differences–no one is to notice the elephant in the middle of the living room.
Add to that, Julian is a career criminal and a killer. Isn’t Alexis always lecturing her daughters about staying away from the bad boys? Is this a case of do as I say, not as I do? I think Alexis is a huge hypocrite, and I wish to God they would put the more interesting, the more dynamic Dianne front and center while back burning Alexis. Oh, and I hope someone kills Julian just as he had Duke killed. And this time, I hope Julian stays dead. I really cannot stand that swarmy, smirking bastard of the waxen chest.

Jimh(leave it to beaver)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all posters!!!

Shay
Shay

Oh, Harry, you dear man! What a superbly put post….I shall consider it my Christmas present from you, since it says so much better that which I have been expressing for years! You have it exactly right, even if I don’t harbor the same amount of animosity for Julian that you do. (Mine is solely directed at that over-sexed slave to her libido, Alexis!) But you have called it all correctly….right down to demanding a more prominent presence for the delightful, delicious dynamo Diane Miller! (She’s simply awesome!) So thank you, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and keep up that signature rapier sharp commentary that is yours and yours alone, Harry! You truly are the gift that keeps on giving to us here at MFSoaps!

rebecca1
rebecca1

One other note Harry…how is Alexis a hypocrite? First and foremost, she is and always has been a great mom. Whether it was pressing her daughters to get a great education…akwsys emphasizing the importance of school…completely there for Christina when she was attacked by her boyfriend…always a sholulder to lean on when any of her daughters is upset…she’s all maternal. As for “bad boys” every woman on GH has slept wifh one or more, married or dated one or more…including Anna and Laura. The only reason Alexis is FINALLY with Juluan is because for now at least, he really is, true to his word, out of the mob. We cant help who we’re attracted to or fall in love wifh, so I dont fault Alexis. I give her credit for giving Julian an ultimatum about his life and him caring enough to get out (of the mob). Obviously that can change but Im talking about what’s trasnpired. Nothing hypocritical about Ms. Davis…

And this isnt to you Harry but another poster who I’ve refrained commenting to, about, around or anything else. Your comments many times are naive. Theyre insulting. You attack other losters for their opinions and fhen get all haughty when they respo.d. yes…you are ageist. Alexis is not “trying to compete with 20-somethings” and whatever else you wrote about “Alexis thinks she’s a babe” and “does flips in the bed to show off her unattractive tatas”. How JUVENILE and judgmental are you!? You stated on another post that a sity year old woma should stop chasing her dreams…because she’s sixty! She should just give it up! Another poster took offense at rhat and explained, that o.ce again you have implied another ageist comment. Cumulatively you have stated that couples over 40 shouldnt be all over each othef physically, they should “act their age”, people over that age shouldnt and wouldnt be so hot for each othef…past a certain age people shouldnt have career goals or dreams, women shouldnt show cleavage after their 40s because to your eye they’re not youthful enough to be seen…your list goes on and on.It never ends! And then you jump on the defensive Aand say youre entitled to your opinion! If we could gather how many people youve attackex for liking a ztoryline you didnt approve of it would be a pizt in and of itself!

And lets not forget how you stated to me once that if I responded to your posts…your parents who are lawyers would get justice! Ive refrained from reacting to anything youve posted not because Im intimidated…I just agree with whomevef accused you of being unbalanced and manipulative.

Harry..love ya but I dont know what filter you’re looking through…

First. William DeVry looks every bit of forty-sonething. I’d believe fifty something. I find him good-looking…I think he has a phenomenal body and he works out like a madman to get and keep it that way. Kudos. But his face shows his age…handsome but weathered. Compare him to Roger Howarth…they’re about the same age but Roger has a much more youtful appearance. So does Tyler (NIC)…Sean Kanan, Steve Burton, etc. All these guys are in their forties and look younger…facially…than William DeVry. I have no problem seeing DeVry as a young-ish dad to diminutive Kelly.

Nancy doesn’t have a noticeable line in her pretty face. I think they’re perfectly matched aesthetically..though I think they could update Alexis’s style. Weight has something to do with it too. Alexis with Nina’s body would seem younger….

I had a much harder time believing Milo and Epiphany…but if we assune that was for comedic effect that would be insulting to the actress…which I don’t condone.

Some fans “people watch” these characters as they would in real life and judge. Alexis and Julian find each other attractive. They love each other. As I said to me they look the same age…though William’s body is killer. Put him shirtless next to Ryan Paevy and he’d appear to you more like a man creeping up on fifty…with a great body! Even Nancy’s joked about how built he is…

They’re seen more these days conversing…sharing situations that arise with Sam…Juluan trying to win over Molly, Alexis not running away from ior scheming to keep Olivia’s baby hidden from him but instead prepared to help him get partial custody at the time Olivia was preventing it…

Finally…why do we judge couples by who we think looks better together…or who looks youngef, older, thinned, heavier, etc. I like to feel a connection. This couple interacts so naturally togethef…when they share they feel like a “team.” This is a couple that has remained true to each other. I really hope they dont throw Olivia into their path…just because they shared revenge sex and had a son…

CeeCee
CeeCee

Hello, Shay:
I am back from the city….now going to my parents’….did you miss me, babes? LOL. I have yet to receive THAT comment you mentioned on the ‘ROBIN’ thread…..that’s’ ok. It must have been a doozy.
I would like to point out that when you and I said that Julian was not the appropriate stud for ” I-think-I-am-such-a-babe; I-can-do-flips-in-bed, show-off-my-not-so-attractive-tatas……still-young-enough-to-rival-any-twenty-year-old, and then some”, attitude……we were accused of being ageists. I was even called mentally unbalanced and manipulative. Or, Julian and Sam being father and daughter is a joke!!!!!! Now, some who were sore or offended by that are more or less saying the same thing. What gives?
Again; have a jolly Merry Christmas, amica mia! and to all posting friends. Especially you, of course, Timmm, Fanny , Suzie Q, Harry, Ces, Jimmy…..who did I forget? Sorry!
Oh, this is for Harry. I know you are not serious cwhen you say, “….but there is no accounting for taste….” HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I will laugh it off. I may not necessarily like Nina’s infantile behavior, but I love Michelle Stafford. I cannot turn it on and off as some people. I am true blue. Not many people like Jen Lilley….she is my second favorite soap star….and I love the character, Theresa. These women are gems. I am pretty confident I have exquisite taste. I went to finishing school with Emily Post….HaHa. Merry Christmas, my friend…..all is well. Love you!!

Am I the only one who misses Ron Carlivati? This show is so blah without him. I just want to see the end of Jason Thompson’s episodes and then I’ll probably stop watching. The only thing that would keep me watching is if Lucas and Brad had a front burner story, which I know will never happen.

Alan
Alan

You are not the only one missing Ron.

This show is a hot mess: no suspense, no surprises, no drama but plenty of Sonny. I will also stay tuned until Jason Thompson leaves and then tune out. I can’t believe One Life To Live was cancelled for this…

Tristan

Well, the ratings have rebounded since he left GH. So, I would suspect that fewer miss him, and more are relieved by the turn around by the new writers.

su0000
su0000

I MISS RON !!!
J&S write Harlequin style, they are not the right writers for GH..
GH is now totally anti-climatic..
GH is running out of gas .. GH has become unrealizable.

GH was always a nontraditional outside the box soap,
GH is now being mushed in with the other soaps and losing its unique identity..

I am FF now, and never with RC did have need to FF..
RC made me cry made me laugh made me WTH and even HUH and some ohh my gods! and always entertained me!

RC trilled me with on the edge suspense and surprises and made me wonder whodunit..
I had fun watching GH, now it’s rather a chore to get through the dull mush..

Alan
Alan

I’m not really sure being down 171,000 viewers from last week and 390,000 viewers from last year is rebounding or a sign the new writers are an improvement…

Timmm
Timmm

I love Brad! I thought they were going to bring his family into the picture?

Timmm
Timmm

I love Roger Howarth. I just wish he didnt portray Franco, my least favorite character, well, except for Levi!

Robin’s “Dead” photo looks like she is on a ride at Disneyland!

Julian asking Alexis’s daughter for permission to marry Alexis was great! Give credit to the new writers for writing this and the actual proposal which was great! I love this non-mob Julian!

I loved Sam’s confession to Jason.

I always liked Sonny and Brenda together but as Sonny has aged he and Carly seem more like husband and wife and looking back, Sonny and Brenda was more of a long term tryst!

I dont remember Sonny and Kristina being this close before but their scene with the selfie was great! What I think is happening is they are tying these two together closely because something bad is going on in Kristina’s life and it will force Sonny out of his chair and into action!

I wish Carrrrrrlos Claus would just stuff Sabrina into his bag and take her out of the country with him!

I hate that Ava is spinning her web once again and catching Paul in it! Not that he is a saint but you know this will come back to haunt him AND Tracy gets the short end AGAIN!

In other words, Monday’s show was excellent!

Shay
Shay

@Timmm…..I love your Carrrrrr-LOS! suggestion!

Harry
Harry

Ehhhh…sorry, Monday’s show could have been excellent but missed the mark.
Unlike Su00, I do not blame the writers and have come to the realization that it’s not the current writer’s fault anymore than it was Ron’s fault.
Case in point–the scene with the reuniting Scorpio family “hath all too short a lease.” I felt like something was missing. Sure enough there was a beautifully poignant and sweet scene which transpired between Robert and Anna yet Mr. Varni opted to cut that fan loving scene in order to give that repulsively repugnant Ava and Paul more air time. WHY? I do not know what kind of addled pea brain would make such a decision. No one likes Ava and Paul–NO one. While I think Nina and Franco and Jullian and Alexis are horrid, and totally devoid of any romantic chemistry,I admit there is a SMALL smattering of fans who kind of enjoy them. (I do not understand why but there is no accounting for taste). While no one likes Paul and Ava while everyone adores Anna and Robert so I ask you why Varni would make such an idiotic decision. The scene in question is all over social media if you’d like to look it up and incidentally, it was only 47 seconds long.

Ugg! Sent too soon…daddy and lol, son…not sin…sweaters.

Point is, if Dante and Lulu were engaged, had children…then Valerie had a one night stand with Dante, had his son…and then spent Thanksgiving with them…bought Dante a matching Christmas sweater.. she’d be all over Valerie like white on rice. Oh wait ! She already is… Back off of Julian Olivia…Alexis has been adorable and gracious as ever…

Timmm

I’m HOPING that Olivia and Alexis will just have a quirky relationship because of the boy and there are never any sexual undertones on Liv’s part. HOWEVER, this is a soap so I fear that a triangle could be on the horizon!

@Rebecca1.
Good Heavens! I just came back from a very long sojourn in Italy to find this obscene writing from what sounds like a mature woman? I beg you, where were you bred? That is the nastiest piece of work I have ever read against another poster. Shame on you. As a 68-year old grandmother, I can say that. It seems to me you are the unbalanced one. Shame on these people too for letting your insulting comments get through. I hope they are fair and let my comment get through, just like yours. You are obsessed with this girl.

rebecca1

Well hello Nonna…I thiink I know what youre referring to…and honestly? I could care less. But just as an exercise in futility. Lol…I’ll recap.

Your precious granddaughtet or whatever she is to you..attacked me on this site when I posted, not to her…but my opinion, on fhe kidnapping story on GH. I liked the acting…the intensity. Out of the blue your precious one started accusing me of liking babies being hurt! Sarcasm and accusafions spewed forth…all because I “dared” like a story she didnt. Thus began our mutual hostility.

She continued to make digs at my posts…when I mentioned my admiration for rhe character Alexis…she proceeded to insult rhe actress…and rhe character as old, too old to be sexual, should be home knitting booties, shouldnt show cleavage…again…because theyre “unattractive” and too old to be seen. Other middle aged characters shouldnt be lusting after each other either…nor should people over 50 or 60 still pursue their dreams. She’s been accused of ageism by several posters…yet continues to make the same remarks…stating she’s entitled to her opinion…yet continually berates posters she disagrees with.

Lol, she has told me she and her co workers sit around and laugh at my posts; her sister who doesnt post here made a very specual appearance to tell me off…and now you! I havent directed any posts to her in a long time. I have read them though. I’ve seen where she’s antagonized other posters who have accused her of being ageist and judgmental…so much so that she suspected they were me going by another name!

I couldnt resist my one post where I agreed with what someone else thought about her posts here and the umpressuon she gives to those of us who have been recipients to that side of her personality. Her wrath. Yes, she has another side for the posters she “loves” and who love her. One in particular i have no doubt will welcome you back, ask about your trip…and then lroceed to agree wurh yoy amongst her wink…wink digs. Im familiar with the routine.

This is a soap site. Not many are interested in her vacations, her husband’s job, her looks, (self described beauty), his looks, family outtings…yet we’re subjected to pages and pages of it.

Finally…you wanna talk about maturity? The fact that an almost 30 year old woman complains about anonymous posts to someone who is just a poster on a soap site..and then her sister, her nonna feel the need to defend her is beyond insane, infantile and ludicrous. Frankly, you all need to focus on issues a tad more important. Lol…on all the sites on the worldwide web…Ive never seen family rushing to attack a poster because they didnt like what was said, If every family member got in to defend her “victims” of attack, there’d be no soap time. Look to thyself, abd yours.

Nonna

I have no idea what you are talking about. I have been away for over a year. My granddaughter is in Milan in medical school. Her name is Alida and she used to post as FAS. I have no idea who this girl is. Never posted at the same time. I have caught up, by reading all the comments. Go back and read then tell me who the instigator is. You are a bully with no life. Mean, mean spirited.
It looks to me like whatever this girl said to you was in her own defense from your insults you hurled at her. I do believe you are jealous of youth. So much so that you copy her expressions verbatim. You even remember her age. Most people would forget that.
You are either a liar or senile. You are the only one who calls people ageist. You attack Harry, sooo, Shay, and so many more. You lord it over everyone as if you know best. I am surprised no one has put a stop to your rants. You say you avoid her. You just made references to her on Harry’s post right here on this thread.
Yes, you need to focus on more important things. But, it seems to me you are the one who will not let sleeping dogs lie. I repeat, I am strictly going by these posts. Everyone like the very people you repudiate. I read comments from last year and you accused her of needing a psychiatrist. Her husband suggested you be her psychoanalyst. You then switched your anger at him. He did what any other husband would have done. He defended his wife. Shame on you. So mature. Let it go. Someone needs to put you in your place.
Please do not answer me.
You are an instigator. Over what? A floozy character? Not too many fans like Alexis. The character dresses inappropriately for an attorney and acts the trollop. Why does that bother you so? You are not so innocent. You put in digs and innuendos at every opportunity. You have a persecution complex. It really is annoying and depressing reading your posts when you put your war paint on. I also see that she avoids you like the plague and tells you not to reply on her inbox. I just read that. So, why do you do it?
I am not surprised her sister or whoever told you off. I read it and you deserved it. You have a forked tongue. But I am a proud Italian and I ain’t afraid of no words or no Rebecca.

rebecca1
rebecca1

Nonna…lol…not only is it just a tad insane to go back and scour posts from a few years ago…but if you’re going to do that at least understand what you read! From what you just hurled at me I’ll assume reading comprehension isn’t your strong point? By the way…Harry, Su and I play very nicely with each other.

Perhaps you need another vacation?

What has happened to Laura? I don’t remember her being so, I don’t know what the word is I’m looking for, but drab ? agreeable? book of knowledge on everything? What is it? Why can’t I like her right now? I need her to have a love interest, quit calling Jake “Little Jake” and quit being this voice of reason to Liz, Nick & Lulu, it’s nauseatingly boring.

it’s taking her long enough…

I agree that Laura should have her own story but until then Im enjoying her presence. She’s one of the few sensible, grounded people on the show and true to character. She was always the voice of reason…the comfortin force-source that Lucky, Nicolas and Elizabeth went to.The show needs that and she does it so well. And she looks gorgeous! She’s lost weight and seems to have shed years as well compared to a previous return.

Ces

I also enjoy Genie on the show, I just don’t remember her character to be so annoying. I am looking forward her having her own storyline. She did look great at the party; wish we saw more of her doing something other than babysitting that tart Liz.

I agree Laura looks fantastic. She has been the voice of reason for years (when she was on the show). Down to earth den mother. I like that side of her and her support of Liz was very generous But I do agree she needs a love interest (not Scotty!) and soon!

Whoever thinks the ratings are up isn’t reading them right. Are they up from when Ron was fired? Yes. But the last ratings were down almost 400,000 from last December when Ron was writing.

As I said the other day the latest ratings were down a lot from the week before and the other 3 soaps were up. That was the week it was everyone’s turn to yell at Liz.

I’m not worried GH is going to get canceled because ABC has no clue what to do about daytime. But I am worried about the show. It’s turning back into the Sonny & Carly Hour and Carly has never been so disagreeable. I LOVE Laura Wright, but I’m about to start FF Carly cause I can’t stand her in banshee mode.

Timmm
Timmm

I’d rather see Sonny and Carly everyday as opposed to Nathan and Maxie or DOGnte and Valerie!

Lucy D.

Well there are certainly other choices. And the rating decline when the show is all about Sonny. It’s time the show focused on its younger core.

rebecca1
rebecca1

I feel like there’s a romance on the horizon for Maxie and Dillon…

Alan
Alan

The mob stories drove the ratings into the basement and yet the show seems hell bent on bringing the mob (which Ron wisely back-burnered) back to the forefront,

GH’s biggest weakness is its inability to adapt — it gets stuck in a groove for years at a time with a certain formula (love on the run stories, campy spy stories, mob stories) NEVER once realizing the reason any of those stories worked the first time was the love story they were built around.

Oh and if the new head-writers are bringing a woman’s point of view to the show, then why is Tracy being written as a half-wit being played by yet another man? Why is Monica thanking Carly (who helped Sonny cover up murdering AJ) for convincing Jason to attend the Nutcracker Gala instead of telling her to stay away from her only surviving child? Why is every woman being declawed and turned into a spineless wimp whose sole agenda is gaining the attentions of a man?

su0000
su0000

It is no longer the 80’s.. J&S are stuck in the 80’s..
The way of life and entertainment media has greatly changed..
There are no love couples, love gone wrong, shows/series on TV..
The top 15 shows are not about couples if even any at all..
The past 5 years blockbuster movies have no love couples and their problems, nobody would pay to see couples, they want action..
Couples are no longer popular in media.

windows 3.1 didn’t even exist in late 80’s..
In the 90’s peoples were wowed to play solitaire on their pc’s, if they had one.
An iphone was on Stak Trek..

The soaps are being written by old writers from long past eras..
The same stories/scripts are being used as in the 80’s..
Soaps need to get into the 21st century or die.
Soaps need new vibrant 21st century writers, young blood writers, with new ideas a new way of writing/storytelling…

Lucy D.
Lucy D.

I agree. I assume women are still a big part of soaps’ audience an d I find GH to be not very supportive of them. Tracy has been a dithering fool for too many years now in pursuit of some, well you know what (not sure what I’m allowed to say here). Carly has become a harpie shrew–all to protect Jason’s privates from Liz. Sam’s talent as a PI is dressing inappropriately, getting Spinelli to do something illegal and having Jason rescue her.

Monica’s dialog with Carly was shameful–as if the show was written and produced by people who’ve never watched it before.

k/kay
k/kay

Totally agree about the dialogue with Monica & Carly I guess their characters have been invaded also. Yesterday when I was out shopping on the radio came the song I’m Still Standing by Elton John and I thought would that have been funny if Liz had jumped up and starting singing that at the Gala. Just want her begging and the chasing after Jason over I need for Sam & Jason to get back to comparing hand guns. LOL! Merry Christmas to all!

tatiana
tatiana

Liz hit a new low in yesterday’s show by throwing Laura under the bus with Jason. What a crass move especially after Liz all but blackmailed her into keeping quiet with the threat that people would find out about Nikolas’ attempt on Hayden’s life.
Laura had the decency to apologize to both Liz and Sam about keeping quiet and finally Liz had the decency to apologize to Laura. She finally apologized to someone for her reprehensible actions over the last few months! And I don’t mean her teary “Sorrys” to Jason that are designed to manipulate him not apologize.

I am sick of these “poor Liz” moments, like we should feel sorry for her because she is all alone now. She has no one to blame but herself. She needs to pick herself up, put her big girl panties on and take responsibility for her actions! Apologize to the people she has wronged and leave Jason alone while he is trying to decide who he is and what he wants. She needs to go home and take care of her boys and put her kids’ needs above her own for once. She needs to grow up! Then she can seek redemption if she wants because then she will actually deserve some.

tatiana
tatiana

Sorry – I meant Laura had the decency to apologize to both Jason and Sam.

su0000
su0000

Liz played a good game to catch her man..
Woman are natorious for their man traping games lol / fact
and some will throw everyone under the bus to get their man.. ahaa!

All IS FARE IN LOVE AND WAR..

Liz lost a battle but not the war, not yet..

Laura was all up holyer than thou in their faces yet the evil in her came out, she lied and joined the deceiving game.. Apologizing does not erase what she did. nope.

(by the way.. Laura has lied and deceived to get her man..
and she threw her son Nicolas away, she did not raise Nik, Laura gave Nic away to run off with an ass.. A horrible mother! ))

tatiana
tatiana

Liz played an unfair and disgusting game to catch her man. She stacked the deck which is nothing more than cheating. I keep hearing on these sites how its okay to play games, to lie and cheat to get what you want. Because everyone does it, especially women it seems. Well I do not subscribe to that theory and I do not believe all is fair in Love and War. I don’t think you do deserve to win without integrity. I know some do but its a hollow victory in my opinion.

In any case, I will get off my soapbox now…lol. I do not really care what other characters have done. It is not a defense of Liz’s actions and I stand by my rant that she needs to do some serious growing up, make amends, put her children’s needs before her own for once and then begin to move on with her life.

Yes Laura has made mistakes but she has always tried to take responsibility for her mistakes. Which is why she went along with this lie…to try to protect Nikolas and continue to try to make it up to him that she left him behind. She knows she can never fully make it up to him but does her best to be a good mother now. I commend her for making the effort.
And let’s call a spade a spade. She did not give Nic away to run away with an ass. She escaped from being kidnapped, held prisoner on an island, raped repeatedly and then forced to give birth. She left him behind to escape imprisonment knowing that Stefan would take care of him.

Apologizing does not erase what one has done but its a start. Its better than blaming others for your failures and actions. I believe most people should have a shot at redemption and they have to begin by understanding what they did wrong and who they hurt, taking responsibility for those actions and then apologizing and making amends.

Welcome back, CeeCeeGirl! Of course, you’ve been missed! (If you’ve any doubt, just check out this thread…..LOL! Seems like “deja vu all over again,” eh? R.I.P. Yogi!) At any rate, Merry Christmas! Yes, it does seem like there has been a lovely turnaround on the notion of Alexis and her boy toy, Julian….at least by some. Maybe it’s the increasingly absurd storyline we’ve been subjected to with Ms. Davis and her ridiculous, overtly sexual antics with her mismatched mate that are finally bringing certain viewers around to our way of thinking….I can only say “welcome to the club!” As for the idea that we are being ageist?…I still have to reply with a heartily resounding NO to that proposition. Know what???? I absolutely adore most of the “mature” actresses on GH…they are a fabulous, eclectic bunch of women….Anna, Laura, Dr. O., Tracy, Diane Miller, Monica! And I would very much welcome a full-on romantic interest for any of them, complete with a healthy dose of physical elements…but I can safely say that none of these lovely ladies would debase themselves in the manner that Alexis has with her tacky, revealing get-ups and raunchy, unabated quest for sexual satisfaction that truly doesn’t even rival that of any of the younger generation of lovers in Port Charles. I mean, WHO else feels the need to constantly roll around on the floor and engage in repeated rounds of heavy breathing activities at the drop of a hat? No one! Even Brazen Hayden hasn’t shamelessly mounted Nic as frequently as Alexis has jumped Julian’s frame. That’s just a fact, and if one cannot admit that it’s seamy, disgusting—not to mention, tedious!— conduct, well, too bad! But enough for that matter tonight….it’s Christmas Eve! (Whatever happened to holiday truces? Great warring nations could capitulate to a “timeout” for this one sacred night, so why not here?) I’m so glad to hear you are gathered with your family for this magical evening….do you do midnight mass? Sadly, this time-honored, cherished tradition is becoming more scarce with each passing year in my area, so it’s no longer on the agenda, but there was something so uniquely beautiful to the pageantry of this custom….I shall always miss it! Having said that, I’m sure your little ones are bursting with excitement over Santa’s imminent arrival….how precious! Seeing their sweet little faces with expressions of sheer delight and wonderment will be your greatest gift tomorrow morning….although I’d be willing to bet your dreamy doctor is no slouch in the “clever present” department, either! (You must tell next time we “get together!”) Oh well, I must be going…..simply wanted to once again wish you a Buon Natale, mia amica! Have a superb holiday weekend and send my best to your family! Ciao!

@tatiana.
I absolutely love and agree with your post. You have expressed my thoughts a hundred times better. Liz’s warped thinking; what made Laura leave her baby ( something I did not know); Liz’s manipulation of Jason, which is such a foreign concept to me etc.
Everything you say is en pointe…..from A, meaning Ava….whose original storyline was so compelling and engaging, has now diverted to being Paul’s sexually perverted toy. Ugh!!!!…..to Z, that is, my addition of a comment on Johnny Zaccara, whose presence makes me smile, but, also adds question to the weakness of his storyline, nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed your well-thought-out posts. Happy Holidays.

It is interesting that someone takes every opportunity to bash the new writers of GH, but fails to realize the previous stories under Carlivati were considered campy and uneven. Stories went on forever. The ratings were dropping for quite a while, which brought about Carlivati’s firing. Maybe another nail in the coffin was provided by Anthony Geary’s dislike for RC. The new writers are trying to do their job and I don’t think they should be blamed for stories they inherited from the previous writer(s) at Y&R. Romance has and ALWAYS will be a staple of soaps, with a little action and families thrown in. Love it or leave it.

su0000
su0000

What RC did not do;

RC did not break up Dante & Lulu and give us this awful love triangle. J&S put them there because that’s what they wanted.

RC did not make Lulu off tilt.

RC did not give us Paul licking all over Ava’s body. ish..

RC did not give Ava custody of Avery.

RC did not give us a bipolar Morgan, perhaps he was just really messed up, we’ll never know.. J&S gave him bipolarism

RC did not make Carlos Sabrina baby daddy.

RC did not make Jax and Scorpio look like ol’ mellowed down buddies.

RC did not make Val a cop attached to Dante’s world.

RC did not make Jason have a blank memory for the past 3 months- he’s been written by J&S into this no drama dull triangle.

RC did not make Laura a conniving liar holding secrets.

RC did not neuter Julian and turn him into a do nothing grandpa.

RC did not neuter Sonny and turn him into a disabled love-guru..

All those ^^^^ were in J&S hands to do as they please, among other stories…
((horribly boring dull anti climatic stories by J&S.

RC did not make me FF and nodd-out.

Lew S.

Happy Holidays Su!

tatiana
tatiana

I am not here to root for either writing team as I do think GH has been pretty bad for months and is not getting any better in my opinion. But Su, many of the story points mentioned above were given to us by RC. They were conceived and began airing during his writing regime. The day to day material of the new writing team began in mid October or so and most of these stories began earlier than that. It takes more than a month or two to change the direction and trajectory of a story line and of a character. It looks to me like they are still following RC’s story board.

Dante and Val had already cheated and Dante was already lying. Val already worked with him and was already in his orbit. The new writing regime made sure their secret was exposed and broke up Lulu and Dante. The secret was going to break them up no matter what. What J&S has done badly since then has been allowing Dante to walk around in a fog, continue seeing Val and assassinating this once endearing character.

The Morgan is bipolar story started back in the summer and had been starting and stalling for months. J&S put an end to the “is/isn’t he?” seesaw and made him bipolar and are dealing with the fallout. Again following RC story board. Its not like RC would have made him NOT be bipolar. That’s not a story.

RC made Jason have a blank memory for almost a year so that the drama was already gone and he further assassinated Liz’s character. J&S brought the secret out and are following the same dull, no memory story. Apparently Jason has a flashback today so we can always hope this story will move forward in the near future.

Granted, RC did not give Avery to Ava or put her together with Paul. But he did get her out of jail and was planning some kind of story line for her. Ava needs to seriously go away. Worst character ever on this show. She makes me root for Sonny…ugh!

Laura was already lying and Julian had already left the mob. Jax and Scorpio are geriatric so they will never be or look as dangerous as they did.

For the most part, I do not see any differences in characters or story line from what RC had already put in motion. Hopefully we will begin seeing original material soon.

Nutcracker Gala !

Monday’ ep:

Liz: are we seeing layers and added dimension? LOL… Liz imbibes and gets tipsy!
may not have been to my liking… that she “embarrassed” herself… w/Jason and Laura…

Alexis and Julian : it’s been eon since I’ve seen a – human’ ness – to Alexis … watching her ; as Julian is proposing… was quite touching…. albeit ;

Julian: “you are off the charts, sexy” quite the stretch, NO?

“Carlos” : as santa baby ! his neverending devotion and endearing Love… for Sabrina and their child…. swoons me

GH ! please do not send this couple off in to the sunset… I love them!

Tuesday’ ep :

Nicholas – vs – Jason : gideons trumpet … GH is treating us to a whalloping GOOD TIME; with their hottest LEADING MEN

GH ! you are in the “right” arena… in pitting these two men adversarial ! testosterone machismo sexy mindset … with equal gusto !

well… not yet… to my liking… because my hat is tipped for Tyler Christopher’ Nicholas Cassadine! GH do not let up ?!?!

with Nicholas going over the balcony… at the Metro Court !?!? argh! are they going to render him defenseless? GH ! give these two a fighting equal chance… there is so much more to tap with endless potential… sigh! at the very least… this is where Hayden will truly fall in love with her man … and thereafter… it’ll be a hold holds barred front… Nicholas, Hayden, Laura, Franco, Liz – vs.- Carly, Sonny, Jason, Sam

no contest…

GH ! your plot points drive me NUTS ! perhaps this is all good and well. why does everything revolve in and around LW’ Carly?

Monica tells Carly about the sonogram…. blah, blah, blah! Sabrina was wrong in not telling Michael from the start…. OK end of story… as Carly loudly and uninterestingly will more than likely drive it home… for her dimwitted son…. argh! he can’t act when he is faced with anything more than a dutiful son

CARLY again! rears ugly (she spots Sam and Jason “bonding” on the balcony… and tells Liz off ; about leaving Jason alone! Laura Wright always has to be the end all be all… of story

she just mows over everyone… it’s all we know now…. why can’t other characters drive and carry story? are they not as talented?

HOTTEST COUPLE : Nicholas and Hayden ; Franco and Liz ( with Nina and Dr. O)

CUTEST w/DRESS : Jordan and Christina

General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Lucas Gives Wiley To Michael; While Willow Learns the Devastating Truth

Friday’s episode of General Hospital, brought the highly-emotional moments viewers had been waiting for all-week long; following the year and a half reveal that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) and Brad (Parry Shen) engineered a baby switch with Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) dead baby, Wiley being passed off as Michael (Chad Duell) and Nelle’s newborn, Jonah, and Jonah being raised by Brad and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) as Wiley.  Now with the truth out, it was time for two of the heaviest beats of the story to be played out.

When Willow comes to at the hospital with Chase (Josh Swickard) by her side, needless to say she is dazed and freaking out that Nelle took Wiley.  Chase tells her he has some things to tell her and it’s not going to be easy to hear. Willow braces herself and then Chase tells her the story of the baby switch and how her baby died a SIDS death while at Brad and Lucas’ and then how the babies were switched.

Photo: ABC

In a heartbreaking and powerful performance from Katelyn MacMullen (yes, she is our pick for “Power Performance of the Week”), Willow struggles to come to grips with the truth and starts to realize all of Brad’s machinations, as she thinks back to herself how could she do that to her son … to trust him with Brad, only to have the little infant die.  The devastation played by MacMullen, whose Willow, now must realize her baby never lived the full and happy young life she thought, was gut-wrenching.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Michael Blasts Brad As The Truth About Wiley Comes Out

Meanwhile, in yet another top-notch performance, William deVry (Julian) showed the pain and the need to unburden himself as Julian talks to his sister. Ava (Maura West) and spills what happened.   He goes so far to admit to Ava that he knew what Brad had done. Ava cannot believe he did not go to Sonny (Maurice Benard) right away with this Intel, but Julian just could not do this to his son, Lucas and rip the baby from his arms.  Julian says he will face-off with Sonny and not leave town, if it comes to that.   Ava says they have to come up with a way to silence Brad … before Brad gives up Julian’s part in the whole baby cover-up.

And in yet another masterful performance, we have to give it up to Chloe Lanier.  Who can play Nelle and spin stories and the tears so well, that if you did not know this pathological liar you would think she is telling the truth. When in opposing holding cells at the PCPD, Nelle lays it on about Brad so that the guard can hear them. She blames Brad for being the instigator in the baby switch and taking advantage of her – a distraught new mother, confused and dazed on the route where the baby switch happened.  It works! Brad is moved to a different cell and thinks look very grim for him.  Nelle smiles through her crocodile tears!

Then, in what we all knew had to happen, and even so, was still as heartbreaking as ever; Lucas spends his final moments with Wiley as his father in the kitchen at the Corinthos’ along with Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) and Carly (Laura Wright).  Lucas starts to tell his mother and sister, all the things Wiley needs and likes, such as having a story read to him.  All of this brings the tears as they know Lucas has to give the child back to Michael; who has been robbed of a year and half as the baby’s rightful father.

Michael tells Lucas they will work this out, so Lucas remains a constant in Wiley’s life. He also tells Sonny and Sasha (Sofia Matteson) he feels so badly for Lucas, but they tell him to be happy for this chance to have the son he grieved for.   In the end, a tear-filled Lucas hands Wiley to Michael as everyone watches on in sadness for one father … and joy for the other.  Ryan Carnes was poignant in the scenes; as was Chad Duell.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Michael Blasts Brad As The Truth About Wiley Comes Out

FINALLY! On Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital, Lucas (Ryan Carnes) memory is jogged just enough that he clearly remembers Brad’s (Parry Shen) shocking words before their car crash; where Brad confessed that Wiley was Nelle (Chloe Lanier) and Michael’s (Chad Duell) biological son.

At the Corinthos home, Lucas stands up and announces to Michael that Wiley is actually his believed to be dead son, Jonah. Carly’s (Laura Wright) mouth drops and then she takes over getting to the root of the truth of the baby switch.

Brad is cornered and left with no choice but to fess up. He explains how Wiley died when he was no longer breathing, and how he was driving with him, when he ended up on the route where Nelle left Michael to die in the car he was driving (Michael recalls this bit of Intel in a flashback).

Then, Brad explains how Nelle appeared with her newborn baby and claimed the whole thing was engineered by Nelle …  and how he was so upset and panicked, that he went along with her plan.

Michael lets Brad have it for all of his lies and machinations, and the pain it has inflicted on so many people for over a year and half.  How on earth could he do that? Carly also lays into him.

Meanwhile, Sasha (Sofia Matteson) has urgently called Chase (Josh Swickard), who leaves “Wiley” and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) behind, and heads to the Corinthos’ where he hears the whole sad truth about the baby switch.

With Chase gone, Nelle goes looking for “Wiley” who is with Willow, and the two get into a major throwdown catfight.  Nelle comes out the victor and goes to get her baby ready to leave town with her son.

So, what did you think of how the truth finally came out?  What did you think of Michael’s tirade on Brad? What do you think will happen next? Comment below.

GH’s James Patrick Stuart Talks on Valentin’s Downfall and Potential Rise to Power

After all his bravado, machinations and lies to keep the woman he loves, and believing he was the rightful heir to the Cassadine fortune, suddenly it all came crashing down for Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) on recent episodes of General Hospital.

Payback can be a bitch, but for Valentin; who’s past has been fraught with numerous physical and emotional tribulations since his childhood, he now finds himself at the lowest point in his life; losing Nina (Cynthia Watros) who’s now taken up with Jax (Ingo Rademacher), realizing he is the biological son of the evil Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), and not Mikkos, and having all his best laid plans and misdeeds backfire.  (Remember, he shot and “killed” Nikolas, and set up the ruse that led Sasha to pretend she was Nina’s bio-daughter.)  Now, enter Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier), who could very well hold the ticket, to Valentin’s rise to wealth and power all over again.

Michael Fairman TV chatted with James Patrick Stuart to get the lowdown on: those heavy and emotional scenes opposite Constance Towers, working with Cynthia Watros as his newest Nina, if Valentin might really kill Jax the next time he thinks about it, and what about a potential relationship between Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin?

Not many can play bad as good as James in this industry.  He does it so effortlessly and still brings out the humanity in the guy that has t-r-o-u-b-l-e written all over him.  Here’s what James had to share about all of Valentin’s recent dramatic moments, a tease of what’s to come, and much more.

Photo: JPI

Valentin’s world has imploded at the moment.  When did you initially find out that he was going to turn out to not be a true Cassadine heir?

JAMES:  Well, there were some clues dropped by Frank Valentini (executive producer, GH) back when we did the gallery auction where Helena’s portrait went up in flames.  Frank looked at me and goes, “Hey, Jack Nicholson it up.  Have some fun!  You’re not going to be feeling pretty good for a while.”  (Laughs)  I’m like, “Oh … what are the plans?”  He pulled me aside and goes, “Yeah, you’re going to lose Nina, but you’re going to try to take over ELQ.  That’s when I started to go, “Wait a minute!  That sounds to me like Valentin’s losing his money.”  (Laughs)  With the character of Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) coming back; it’s pretty great.  I think the writing was on the wall there.  I put it out on twitter the other day.  I said, “Look what they’ve done to my boy.”  Somebody chimed in, “They gave him a storyline!” (Laughs)

Who doesn’t love to see you, James Patrick Stuart, play tortured soul?  They audience loves to see you get the opportunity to go to those depths in your performances.

JAMES:  It’s been really interesting for me.  I’ve had a lifetime of playing bad guys because the line was always shorter. (Laughs)  Everybody wants to be Tom Cruise, but the Alan Rickman’s of it all, to me, were what was so interesting.  Early on, you play one dimensional kind of twisting of the mustache, tying a woman to the train tracks.  After a while, you start to watch the truly great actors.  They start to take you on a ride.  If you’re paying attention, you start to feel what it would be like to be that damaged, and that’s why you do it.  Then you start to see the vulnerability. To me, I thought, “This is a great time in my life because I’m ready to do that.” A lot of people say, “I don’t understand.  I feel like that makes no sense. because why would I root for a person who behaves like this?” and that to me, I feel is the greatest compliment of all.

So much happened recently to Valentin in one fell swoop; he overhears Nina telling Ava (Maura West) she kissed Jax, then he envisions shooting Jax and then he is drinking himself into oblivion and he gets a “visit” from Helena!  But … the scenes between Valentin and Helena really summed up the bitter truth for him, wouldn’t you say?

JAMES:  Yes.  In the “Helena” scenes, it all basically is revealed.  It all comes down in a moment where he “sees” her.  I think he realizes with the DNA test; he’s not the person he thought he was, but he certainly had no idea that he had her blood in his veins.  The truly tragic moment of the evening is when it dawns on him that he has a daughter with Helena’s blood in her veins.  Now, he would kill her a thousand times over in that moment.  He can’t do it.  He’s fighting phantoms.  That’s the bottom below the bottom, and things got worse than he ever thought they would get.

Does Valentin have any idea then, who his biological father could be?

JAMES:  I don’t think so.  I don’t believe so.  I know I don’t.  I think once he realizes that Helena is in fact the mother, I think he’d rather just go into oblivion.  I think at that point, he’s out of answers.  Enter Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) …which is wonderful because I think the world of Nancy, and she saves the day.   Alexis basically talks him out of hurting himself, telling him to count his blessings that he is not a Cassadine, etc, which was a really sweet moment.

I assume, when you have this kind of material to play, it must be exhausting, but exhilarating at the same time?

JAMES:  I think that’s exactly right.  As an actor, I think you want to do this stuff.  Maura West and I compare notes all the time.  I think it can be kind of emotionally draining.  You do feel it, and I felt it when I had spent a lot of time with Nina and Valentin, and when the actresses changed, and we brought Cynthia Watros in.  I worked twice as hard to make sure that Cynthia’s landing was as easy as possible, and I really grew attached to the Nina and Valentin connection.  So, when Jax steps in, Cynthia’s love life means nothing to me, I don’t care about that, but Nina’s love life means a lot to me!  And it bums me out, and I don’t know that I’ll actually be watching any future love scenes between them as much as I love them both!  I have a deep attachment to the Valentin connection to Nina.  So, the lines get burred because we just play these characters so long.

What was it like sharing those tough scenes with Constance? No one can play icy, evil villainess like her … and yet in real life, she is such a gracious and kind-hearted woman.

JAMES:  In real life, Constance is such a sweetheart, and she’s so grateful to be there.  She was so ready to work, and rehearse, and play, and find the stuff, and she was great.  I’d been in scenes with her before.  Last time, we didn’t really talk to each other.  I was with the hump.  I was being Valentin pre-surgery.  It was some sort of moment in a graveyard, but this time we actually got to interact with each other.

You look at Valentin, and he’s not had the greatest life.  Do you bring his entire back-story into your performance; such as when he was deformed with the hump and how he had to literally reconstruct his life both in the physical and in emotional ways for many years?

JAMES:  Absolutely.  It’s the brokenness that he’s making choices from.  He was never truly and authentic person to begin with which is why his love fell apart.  He’s always been faking.  He’s always been putting on a show.  That’s not sustainable in matters of the heart.  It was unbelievably easy for Jax to swoop in, because it was inevitable that things were going to fall apart.  Of course, that anger and that brokenness were what lead him to want to kill Jax.  There’s no question.  He was prepared to do that.  If you look in the eyes in the fantasy sequence in the shooting, he just wanted to watch him die.  He wanted to watch the light go out in Jax’s eyes.  He was so furious … and even more tragic is … that was all he could think of, and somehow, he realized in that moment that wouldn’t work, because he’d lose his daughter.

Anna and Finn (Michael Easton) just kind of busted up.  Do you think Anna and Valentin will hookup? There is a connection and a history between the two of them whenever they seem to be in proximity of one another.

JAMES:  Personally, I’m waiting for that.  I hope so!  There is a finesse and elegance to that woman, and not only that, there is an effortless to the connection between Valentin and Anna, if one can say that about one’s own coupling.  I love to look at it!  I think we go together like a wink and a smile.  I just find that chemistry really great.  I think that’s mostly Finola, though.  She can probably have chemistry with most anything.

Valentin was going to leave Port Charles with Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez), after Nikolas revealed all and the fallout began.  Interestingly enough, it was Anna who came to Valentin’s side and tried to talk him down from fleeing with his daughter and showed such compassion for him!

JAMES:  Wasn’t that great?  She was the one who got him.  She was the one who was able to calm the beast.  There was no one else he would have listened to.  In the moment in the police station, after Charlotte had been kidnapped, and there is that moment where Anna has that bruise, I thought it was such a tender moment.  I just said, “If I kiss my finger and touch your wound?” and she’s like, “Do it.”  It was just this moment where we had been bitter rivals and enemies for so long, but he just adores her so much it’s undeniable that he sees her wounded and wants to make it better.  It’s floating out there waiting to be done.  I know that everybody knows it.  It’s just a matter of what the right away to go about in the writing would be.

Photo: JPI

So, you’ve worked opposite two acting dynamos in the role of Nina – Michelle Stafford and now, Cynthia Watros.  Was the transition difficult for you when Cynthia came to GH?

JAMES:  It wasn’t.  It was scary because Michelle Stafford wasn’t just one in a million, I mean, she is one of a kind.  The last thing in the world that I would ever want to consider doing myself was recast that actress.  So, my deal was (and I’ve said this to Cynthia) I said, “I have no control over this.  All I can do is make the landing as easy as possible for Cynthia.”  We did a lot of photoshoots together, and I had flowers waiting for her, and I did everything possible to make sure that she knew that she had a friend and that she had somebody that was going to make it as easy as possible.  It was rough because a lot of the trolls on social media were just awful to her… just brutal, and she goes, “I have thick skin.  I can take it,” and then a week later, she goes, “I’ve closed all my social media accounts!”  (Laughs)  It’s been fun to watch those guys turn around and go, “You have a really special person.”  That wedding stuff was just incredible!  She came so prepared and she knocked it out of the park.  Cynthia has been wonderful.  I love them both.  I love her the reddest, and I love Michelle the bluest, and together I love them the purplest.  (Laughs)

It’s interesting that all the women in his life such as Anna and Nina, all have a soft-spot for Valentin; even though they don’t necessarily want to be with him.  These ladies are just drawn to this dysfunctional guy.

JAMES:  Don’t you think?  Is it that you want to help him, you want to fix him, you see the potential, you want to help him despite himself?  I think that’s what it is.

Courtesy/ABC

Do you think Valentin’s still going to try to win Nina back, or is that done?

JAMES:  I don’t know.  I do know that the Valentin I know will never shake Nina, and when he loves, he loves forever.  He can be simultaneously in love with Anna whenever she’s near.  I don’t believe he ever truly got over Nina hearing his story and his brokenness and still loving him twice as hard.  Years ago, there was a moment where he said to her the stuff that he’s never said, and Michelle beautifully kissed my tears away and said, “You’re beautiful” to me.   I think in that moment his fate was sealed.  I think he knew that this was his woman forever.  So, I just don’t think that that goes away.  I think he will always carry a torch for Nina, for sure.

Do you see Valentin becoming darker and darker now that he had found out he is Helena’s offspring?

JAMES:  Well, yes and no.  I remember watching these scenes and we’ve done a lot of this stuff, and you know how easy it is to sort of go, “Let’s go dark, let’s go dark, let’s go more dark,” and after a while, I go, “You know, maybe he does learn something.  Maybe there’s hope for this guy after all.”  Of course, more bad stuff will happen to him, and he will do more bad stuff, because that’s just who he is.  A leopard can’t change his spots, and those are his survival instincts, but there are some new colors, and it’s all a direct result of all of just these horrible things that have happened to him… mostly learning that he is part Helena and he can’t undo that.

Photo: JPI

We saw that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) called and then goes to see Valentin, because she wants to sell her shares of ELQ.  So, obviously he has the potential to become really rich here which is what would give him his power back.  How do you think that will go over with the rest of the Quartermaines? (Laughs)

JAMES:  (Laughs) A lot of the Quartermaine actors have been asking me that in the hallways of General Hospital!  Isn’t that interesting how he’ll just sort of switch families? (Laughs)

Of all the people, just as Valentin’s life is in the gutter and he is at his lowest, who should show up with a sort of lifeline, Nelle! How will he go about attempting to gain control of ELQ?

JAMES:  Valentin knows he has to get the majority shares to gain a control of the company, and he has to do it fast before people see that he’s doing it.  So, that’s where Michael E. Knight (Martin Gray) has been.  He’s gallivanting the states rapidly accumulating shares.  (Laughs)

Photo: JPI

It’s been so fun seeing you and Michael Knight on-screen and on a daytime soap together again, as so many remember you as Tad Martin and Will Cortlandt on All My Children.  How has it been getting the chance to work with Michael?

JAMES:  My God, are you kidding me?  He taught me!  He’s the guy who taught me.  I didn’t know how to do this.  Nobody instinctively knows… this is a very unique art form.  It’s more Jazz than anything else, and he showed me how to do it!  Walt Willey (Ex-Jack, AMC) showed me how to do my hair, and Michael Knight taught me how to break down a script!  And, what’s so funny is he is still doing it.  In a scene on GH, when he threw in that line, “From now on, you pay in advance,” I just about fell on the floor!  I thought, “There he is!  That’s the Michael I’ve always known and loved.”

Photo: JPI

Who would have thought that you guys would get to share scenes like that again on soaps?  You just never know in this life who may be wind up back in your orbit.

JAMES:  It’s incredible.  That’s what we say all of the time… “Who would have thought?”  You could never plan something like this and that we’d still be doing it at this point.

Now with Lulu (Emme Rylan) learning that Valentin is not a Cassadine, and Nina apparently moving on to a relationship with Jax, what do you think it will mean for their relationship in raising their daughter, Charlotte?

JAMES:  I think in the short-term, Valentin’s shelved any ideas of getting her out of Charlotte’s life.  He’s sort of putting out the fires in his own personal life.  Charlotte needs a mother in her life, and he’s quite willing to share custody as they always have been.  She seems to be looking at this as an opportunity to paint him as an unfit father, and she wants full-time custody.  So, we’re back to that again.  It looks to me like Lulu is kicking Valentin while he’s down.

It was so nice to see you, and some of your GH co-stars such as: Steve Burton (Jason) and Maurice Benard (Sonny) show up for Y&R’s Eric Braeden’s (Victor Newman) 40th anniversary on set celebration at CBS.  It was quite the event; speakers galore, and so many from our industry and beyond in attendance.

JAMES:  It was pretty profound.  Eric has always been kind to me.  I only worked with him on one movie, a western, called The Man Who Came Back, and that was probably 12 years ago.  He has been so complimentary of me in interviews and in his book.  So, if he does that with me, I can only imagine how many dear, dear friendships he has.  So, the fact that everybody showed up like that from the president of CBS Entertainment to local councilmen, and that they were willing to do be there for 2 hours was really proof of how much they love him.  Peter Bergman (Jack, Y&R), who I don’t even think was working that day, came in for it and spoke at the event. There was so much respect shown for Eric and what he has meant to this medium.

Your album The Apple Tree was so well-received, and everyone always loves seeing you get the opportunity to sing on General Hospital as well.  Will you continue to put out more music in 2020?

JAMES:  Yeah, that’s the plan.  I have another one that I’m working on.  I have a bunch of songs.  I’m in no rush to get it out.  Unfortunately, I lost Glen Roven, who wrote the cello part for Book of Love, passed away right after the Nurses’ Ball where I played Book of Love, which is really heartbreaking, and then, Michael Sherwood, who helped me with a number of songs on the record passed away right after The Apple Tree came out.  So, I’m a little gun-shy.  But, I’m planning on having something out by December for Christmas.

In closing, what would you say the fans should look forward to in the weeks ahead from Valentin?

JAMES: Look forward to that moment where Valentin is so low that there’s nowhere to go but up!  The comeback is going to be one for the books.

So, what do you think of how Valentin’s life hit rock bottom?  Do you think he will ever win Nina back? Do you think he will takeover ELQ? Share your thoughts on James’ recent performances and his thoughts contained in this interview via the comment section below.
