General Hospital continues to add new characters to the canvas. Now comes word of the arrival of Monet, a savvy lawyer played by Blythe Howard. Look for Monet to debut in Port Charles next week on the Wednesday, September 23 episode.

According to TV Insider, “Monet arrives in town as a litigator who recently joined Miller & Davis, the firm run by Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and meets with a Port Charles resident in need of legal counsel.”

In a statement, General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini shared, “I am very excited to welcome Blythe Howard to the cast of General Hospital. Look for her to have an unexpected connection to a beloved Port Charles resident.”

FROM TELEVISION TO CANCER SURVIVOR TO GIVING BACK

If Howard looks familiar you may have seen her on several television series including: Yellowstone, Power Book IV: Force, Walker, 9-1-1: Lone Star, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, CW’s Dynasty, Silicon Valley plus David Fincher‘s Mindhunter.

Blythe is also a cancer survivor having cofounded Chemo Queens with her sister Kelsey Howard. The company creates products for people undergoing cancer treatment, including a patent-pending cold cap design.

In recent months, General Hospital has brought in several new actors for brand new roles or recasts. They include: Alimi Ballard (William Baines), Jonathan Bennett (Joe Fitzpatrick), Kearran Giovanni (Dr. Nichols), Dean Geyer (Tristan Roberts), Kelly Kruger (Serena Baldwin), Kayden Brennan Tokarski (Scout Cain) and Troy Lennon Appel (Hudson Parker). You can now add Blythe Howard to this list.

So, who do you think Monet has an unexpected connection to that is a “beloved” Port Charles resident as teased by Frank Valentini? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.

Did Tom Hardy have a child with Simone ?

Yes, They had a son named Thomas Hardy Jr. He was the original “TJ” but they ruined any chance of that character ever returning by giving those initials to a completely unrelated character. Who himself has now vanished without a trace, and doesn’t even seem to be mentioned by the other Ashfords anymore.

um the character could go by his given name Tom, so his initials doesnt’ stop the character from ever appearing on the show, thats just silly.

Jordan’s sister?

Do we really need another lawyer? Although Scott has vanished and Diane seems to be headed that way, too, we’ve got more lawyers than doctors on this show.

She is attractive, but what number newbie is this? The cast is too big, with two many new characters we know nothing about, and they really don’t hold the attention. Kelly Kruger arrived on the scene with so much fanfare in July, but so far nothing!

Should have been a Keesha or Maya recast. However, this cast is far too bloated. Focus on who you have already.

A resurfacing of Keesha Ward would be interesting timing right about now, considering Jason & Britt have apparently split up.

Though Keesha was with “dorky Xmas sweater” pre-brain scambling Jason Quartermaine, and was sadly rejected by the “new” Stone Cold Jason after the crash, Jason is probably as close right now to his teenage self as he’s ever going to get, so who knows what might happen if his “first love” suddenly appeared out of nowhere?

Of course the Keesha & Jason thing all happened before it was revealed that Bradley Ward was Edward Quartermaine’s son. Keesha was from a different branch of the Ward family tree, so she and Jason weren’t actually “incestuous”. But with relatives in common, it might look a little cringy now, if they were to get back together. But no more than Danny & Charlotte who ARE actually related.

I would just love a revival of the Ward family, which would also be an extension of the Quartermaines. It is a shame that they seem to be completely removed from the canvas, yet we are left with the Ashfords.

Clearly Jordan’s sister

For Hell’s sake this newbie invasion is 666% out of control. Add this to the few remaining pre Feb 2012 characters being writter extremely out of character, and this show is becoming more unrecognizable all the time.

I think she will be related to Jordan

Or maybe has a past with Isaiah..

While that was my initial guess, I’d certainly argue that Jordan isn’t “beloved”. She’s barely “beliked”.

Is this going to turn into a black soap opera if so I’m done watching and I have watched General Hospital for years how sad

WTAF?

Don’t you have a cross burning to get to?

Bye, racist. Hope the door hits you on your backside on the way out.

Yeah, seven main characters make a black soap – WOW!

The role of Dottie Simpkins is being played today by Colleen Behnke.

What’s sad is that you felt a need to make such a comment.

Yeah, that’s her! Hey Colleen/Dottie, Did ya hear on Y&R they are giving your favorite character Nick Newman, an African-American love interest? I guess you’ll stop watching that show too?

But… he’s cuddly?

HA!!!!!

It’s sad that the moderators allow these racist comments to go through.

yeah, GH doesn’t need kkk members watching so bye “karen”

Bye

I hope the show can find a way to go on without your viewership.

They’ve had more people move into Port Charles in the last six months than I’ve had in my neighborhood in the past 10 years.

“Beloved” resident of PC might mean Stella Henry….think she and Curtis’s father had one nite stand efore he left…and she gave child up for adoption

Marshall and Stella had an affair? Good guess I guess.

Can you just get rid of willow, Nina, and Drew and then bring the new cast of people on , It getting so boring that none of those cast members have been held accountable for there actions, why or why must you drag this on for years.

I totally agree with you. I’m sick of Nina, Willow, and Drew.

Is GH slowly setting the stage for a new show and eventually all the legacy characters will disappear? The characters are all changing, history is constantly being rewritten and it seems fans wishes have no meaning any more. I doubt Jack would have been written out, CERTAINLY the arc with the e extremely unstable Charlotte would NEVER have bren considered and I hope there is tremendous backlash sent to GH, ABC and Disney for allowing it. I am not a prude but this was SO wrong on SO many levels

Regarding Charlotte, Valentin should listen to Lulu ‘s concerns and the problem isn’t Danny. She is part Cassadine.

Genie Francis

On Friday, October 30, Genie Francis will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremonies. Ahead of her honor, Genie sat down with Extra host and Dancing with the Stars judge, Derek Hough to discuss her legendary soap career and enduring on-screen partnership with the late Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer).

Speaking of joining GH as a young Laura Vining when she was just 14, Francis admitted,  “It was so scary, I mean you don’t know what you don’t know. If I really knew what I was in for I would have been terrified.”

Genie will be presented with her Lifetime Achievement Award by her husband of 40 years, actor and director, Jonathan Frakes.

Commenting on being the recipient of the Daytime Emmys highest recognition, Francis expressed, it’s “a wonderful feeling of accomplishment,'” and on receiving the award from her husband, “It feels incredibly safe and takes a lot of my nerves out of it because I know he’s another one who’s just not going to let me screw up, right?”

THE LEADING MEN THROUGHOUT HER LIFE: JONATHAN FRAKES AND TONY GEARY

Speaking of feeling safe, Francis echoed that sentiment when getting teary-eyed over reflecting on her time as the all-time soap opera super couple, Luke and Laura with Tony Geary. Genie reflected, “I’m going to cry. He (Tony) made me who I am today. I learned so much from this man. He was so loving and so kind. She added about the famous dance at Wyndham’s department store between Luke and Laura, “If I was in his arms I could do it.”

That sentiment carried on for decades with Geary. Francis even admitted to Derek Hough, a secret, “I wear Tony Geary’s cologne. I just remember hugging him and smelling him and I said, ‘Oh, it smells so good.’ And he told me what it was and he said, ‘It’s unisex. You can wear it.’”

Up until now, its hard to believe that Genie has only won once at the Daytime Emmys. It was back in 2007 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category, where once on-stage to accept the gold statuette, she acknowledged Geary.

Genie continues to be humble regarding the impact and lasting impression she’s made on the soap genre saying to Hough, “I’ve never gotten my impact. I just don’t get it.”You can check out Extra’s segment with Genie Francis below.

Now weigh-in; are you happy and excited to see Genie being honored for her decades of work in the soaps? What has been your favorite storyline of Laura, or Luke and Laura through the years? Let us know via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Chase and Brook Lynn Sign Divorce Papers; Are You Glad They Ended Their Marriage or Hoped for a Reconciliation?

Chase and Willow

Any hopes for a last minute reprieve were dashed when filled with sorrow, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) signed their divorce papers in front of a judge in the Dominican Republic on the Monday, October 26 episode of General Hospital.

The judge asked if they really wanted to go through with this, as a teary-eyed Brook Lynn and Chase both hesitated to sign the court documents. They admit that neither of them wants to get divorced, but they both came to the conclusion that too much mistrust has permeated their relationship, and too much has happened between them to stay married.

With that, Brook Lynn decided to put her pen to paper first. She signs the divorce papers. Next, Chase follows suit. They look at each other with tears in their eyes that their marriage is officially over. When the judge went to filing their divorce papers, Chase and Brook Lynn agreed to split custody of baby Phoebe straight down the line 50/50.

THE END OF THE ROAD

Next, the judge returned and gave each a copy of their paperwork. Chase says to Brook Lynn that he thinks that they should each fly back to Port Charles separately, and that he would take another flight home. Chase says goodbye to Brook Lynn and exits. Now alone looking at the empty room, Brook Lynn utters,“Goodbye, Chase.”

Later in the episode, as Brook Lynn flies back home to Port Charles alone, she listens to the message from Tracy (Jane Elliot) telling her she is doing the right thing by divorcing Chase.

Cut to: an emotional Chase who went to the beach. He looked at his wedding ring. Mourning the loss of his marriage, Chase buried his ring in the sand, at the same time Brook Lynn was removing her wedding ring on the airplane.

The drama won’t stop from here for Brook Lynn, because as teased in the GH video spoilers preview for the week, Jude (Wil Traval) will come calling wanting to see his “daughter,” and potentially staking claim to baby Phoebe!  As for Chase, now that he is a free man, will he begin a relationship with his ex-wife, Willow Tait (Katelyn McMullen), with whom he has been completely duped? Stay tuned.

So, were you happy that Brook Lynn and Chase actually ended their marriage? Were you hoping that the two would reconcile at the last minute and realize love can conquer all, or do you think they were being adult about the situation that they couldn’t get out of their own way and feelings to make their union work? Share your thoughts in the comment section. But first, check out the scenes from Chase and Brook Lynn’s divorce and its aftermath below.

Then, in women 25-54, Beyond the Gates scored a 0.32 ratings share; that’s 0.05 points more than GH who came in with 0.27 of the ratings share and up + 0.02 week-over-week.

So, what had viewers tuning-in to Beyond the Gates the week of October 5-9 2026? For starters: Hayley Lawson Hamilton’s (Marquita Goings) blackmail plot falls apart as Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) intervene to stop her in her tracks. Meanwhile, Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) proposed to Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) in the Big Apple.

In addition, Smitty (Mike Manning) refused to participate in Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) upcoming political press conference due to liability concerns, and Andre (Sean Freeman) confronted Dani (Karla Mosley) about her near-death experience the night of the tornado and what it has to do with her ex-husband, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett)!

GENERAL HOSPITAL

Over in Port Charles and General Hospital, the ratings week saw a slight uptick in total viewers of +6,000 with a total viewer average at 1,898,000, and up overall +20,o0o year-over-year.

In story, GH brought viewers, ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) breaking off her secret romance with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) as she seemingly struggles to believe his professed innocence in the prison beatdown of Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Then as Sonny cannot get a single person to believe that he is telling the truth, his ex-wife, Carly (Laura Wright) shows up and stands by his side.

Elsewhere, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Brook Lynn) marriage continued to crumble, as Lulu (Alexa Havins) published explosive allegations that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison), after recording Sidwell in his hospital room, who later denies he said anything about Willow and Drew to Lulu.

As per usual, the number #1 and number #2 soaps of the week were The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. The sister soaps also saw the gap close between the two for the top spots with Y&R adding the most viewers for the week with both soaps losing the most viewers for the ratings period.

In total viewers, Y&R came in with 3,015,000 while B&B 2,628,000, which means there is less than 400,000 viewers separating the two.

So, what do you think of how Beyond the Gates outperformed General Hospital in the key demos for the week of October 5-9, 2026? Do you think its just a matter of time before Beyond the Gates overtakes General Hospital in total viewers for the #3 spot, or do you think the iconic daytime drama series can stave them off and maintain its hold on #3 in the viewership?
