General Hospital Casting New Young Female Contract Role! Who Would You Suggest For The Part?

Courtesy/ABC
Another new character is coming to Port Charles very soon! According to Soap Opera Digest, General Hospital is casting a contract role for a young female.
The casting call that has gone out relates that the ABC soap opera is looking for a gal described as “complex late teens Caucasian female who is beautiful and dynamic.”
The role is to start to shoot brand new episodes of GH two months from now. Thinking late teens or early twenties, who do you think the character will be brought in for?
Let us know your thoughts … and who would you like to see on GH from daytime or primetime to fill this part? Comment below!
Yes GH needs to increase 18-49 demo. Someone for Morgan. Loved the actress who played Langston on OLTL.
You don’t think a woman blackmailing a 70 year old man for sex is going to increase the 18-49 demo? 🙂
I don’t think you need to add more young characters to attract that demo. And 18-49 year old viewers aren’t necessarily looking to watch teenagers or characters in their early twenties. GH has young characters already on canvas who they don’t write for and give real story to.
TJ’s recent story was a plot point so Jordan can owe Sonny. He’ll get involved with Sonny now but will be MIA soon enough. Molly is non-existent. Morgan and Kiki are useless fools. They just keep adding cast, piling on, underutilizing the cast they have and are incapable of telling engaging stories.
They have enough younger characters already if they would write properly for all of them and integrate them properly. As mentioned TJ and Molly who are very young. Morgan and Kiki (although she’s totally useless and I’d be for a new character if she replaces her).
Then you have Maxie, a little older, who is reduced to hanging out in bed with Nathan (also replaceable) and being the character who catches viewers up on what everyone else on the show is doing. Michael and Sabrina are young and have good chemistry, they actually are getting a story now.
Then you have Liz, Jake, Sam, Patrick, Nik. All attractive, all mid to late thirties. Young enough to engage the 18-49 demo; they are in the 18-49 demo. GH doesn’t need new characters to attract viewers. GH needs better writing and storytelling to do that. And casting more actors from other soaps has not been an answer either.
Also, there’s another casting call out for a late 20’s male as well. TPTB just seem to be spinning in it with no real direction.
You nailed it Matilda! You’re exactly right.
I believe there is a Tony Geary interview somewhere (can’t remember how old it is) and he was explaining writers get residuals with every/any new characters they bring to the canvas. I got the impression “character creation” was a competitive thing among the writers. Heaven forbid they focus their time on and receive residuals for “character development” and good story telling among the existing characters. It sounded like the staff writers turnover in droves and don’t stay longer than a few years. I read something where Tristan Rogers explained soaps today are owned by such huge corporations now but in the 80’s and 90’s and earlier, soaps had more freedom and better budgets. Not in so many words, Tristan was saying there have been too many cooks in the kitchen for a while now. “Art by committee” never works well. Tristan also explained social media has taken the place of tv ratings. He explained a crappy show can stay on forever as long as people are commenting about it on social media. Whether the comments are good or bad doesn’t matter to them. Pre social media, bad comments forced tptb to take a hard look at their show before it got cancelled. Now all they care about is if people comment at all.
Agree on most of your points.
Beth…really interesting comment. I’m sure Nancy Dillingham will agree with many of it’s points.e
Perfect, Thomas!
Hey, can anyone out there tell me who the actress is that is playing Jennifer Smith? She seems familiar, but I can not place her.
In the mid 80s Holly played the roll of Ivy (recurring stat) on DOOL and then moved on to play Cassie in OLTL(she took over the roll) for a few years. I believe she was on Baywatch for a year and has appeared on many other television shows throughout her pretty extensive career, which also includes work on the big screen in the 90’s.
I’m surprised RC hasn’t written Valerie and Dillon hooking up, yet. But clearly they want to create a new character or bring in Serena finally. So, the girl who played Langston would be a good choice.
But they really need to bring back Kristen Alderson because this new Kiki still isn’t any good. And the bad writing isn’t helping any.
As a writer, it’s frustrating to see so many formerly intelligent characters turned into instant idiots. Prime example is Silas Clay. A Doctor who managed to have Sam investigated and proven unfit to raise his nephew then has a slimy affair with the scam artist herself.
Why? What was the point of putting those two characters together when it was a bad joke the first time around when they both appeared on Port Charles? Michael Easton is a fantastic actor but looks decidedly out of place with KM who obviously needs cue cards and a teleprompter to recite her own lines.
The writing is just as bad no matter who he gets paired with lately. I was surprised he decided to re-sign with the show. It’s been going downhill and is only a matter of time before it gets canned with FV and RC in charge.

Agree!
Yes, Claire! Yes, Denisefan! The writing is very bad. I watched GH regularly. I stopped – there is not even one storyline that interests me. I wish that Jean Passanante, the writer that moved from YR to GH, will make a difference.
Agreed!
The writing is not bad!! I love Ron and we should be gratefull to him because if i remember correctly not that many fans were happy with Guza or JFP and under them GH had less than a year… So I say Thank you Ron and Frank for the return of vets, of the nurses ball, the Jeromes and thank you for Lucas and Brad.
KM is not a bad actress – I love her! She was great with Easton on PC, though I didn’t enjoy her character with Silas as much as John. She can act am with pretty much anybody, including Tracy – really enjoyed those scenes.
I hope it’s one of Lucy’s daughters.
I had no idea Lucy had more than one daughter.
You may have something there, C. It could be that due to this Nikolas/Quartermaines/Lucy imbroglio regarding ELQ, there is a good chance Lucy’s daughter also comes into the picture. Perhaps Lucy ceded some control (share) to her daughters? Ergo, the need for a new actress.
On the other hand, it could be Tracy’s granddaughter.
CeeCee, wasn’t it you that was such a big fan of young Patricia on the anniversary show, Chloe Lanier? I was too and would love for her to be a regular cast member. GH needs this demo bad!!
To the best of my knowledge Lucy had two miscarriages, and became the surrogate Mom to Dominique and Scotty’s baby…who became known as Serena. Since Dominique died, I think Lucy considered Serena as her own.
Lucy has had so many sides to her personality on GH. She started out as a understated librarian, and “oh” the places she’s been and trouble she’s caused. She’s a real survivor and far more interesting, funny and “clever” than just the over enthusiastic organizer of the Nurses Ball or Ms. Van Helsing with the vampire story. So looking forward to a good Lucy/Nik/ELQ story. Just hope writers keep her in the loop after she voted for Nik.
@Laurie.
Yes, Laurie, I was one, among others, who loved young Patricia. She moved me. I had forgotten about that. And, yes, I agree….she would add ‘heart’ to the show…..something that is become rarer and rarer….
Rose, and others….
Lucy was Serena’s surrogate mom, and I believe adopted her, but I’d need to research that, cause Serena’s custody was tossed around in 1997/1998 when Rex Stanton used Serena to try to get Dominique’s estate.
But Lucy DID also adopt Christina Devlin, the biological daughter of Julie Devlin and Frank Scanlon (on Port Charles). Christina was born to Julie while she was convicted of the General Homicide murders (in partnership with crazy Dr. Greg Cooper, based on the murder mystery penned by Kevin Collins). Julie broke out of Ferncliff and Chris Ramsey delivered the baby, who Julie named Christina after Chris. I believe the baby was originally abandoned, found by Lucy and adopted and raised by her and Scott while they were married around 1998/1999. Julie eventually left the show and kidnapped Christina when leaving Port Charles. Lucy was devastated. During the Miracles Happen story arc, Julie returned to reveal to Chris that she was terminally ill, and she returned Christina to Lucy’s custody, with Christina reappearing for Lucy’s wedding to Kevin at Christmastime. Since then, Christina was little-seen, and eventually faded away, said often to be off-screen with Scott, but never appearing with Scott while he was appearing on GH. Christina MIGHT have appeared in a holiday episode of GH at the Brownstone while Scott was on GH either dating Laura during her divorce from Luke, or dating Bobbie, I can’t recall. But on Scott’s frequent trips in and out of GH, Christina never appeared again, but by then Lucy was off-canvas because PC was canceled and she didn’t return to GH. It’s been unclear ever since what happened to Christina.
I also don’t know whether they would introduce Lucy & Scott’s Christina Baldwin to the canvas, when Alexis and Sonny also have a daughter Kristina off canvas, but more recent and fresh in the audience’s minds. I hate when soaps (ANY two soaps) reuse character names because conflicts like this come up. LOL.
@davidevansmith.
Thanks, David. Your synopsis certainly helps. If truth be known, I could never keep those details straight in, my head. LOL.
Carlos. in a wig anyway we can get him. 🙂
Love it! Carlos was another interesting character totally wasted. Why do the writers insist on writing all characters into a corner, hooking up EVERYONE, IMMEDIATELY, and making all women stupid and helpless/hopeless. If they do that with the new contract player, what do they have? Another dead-end storyline.
Nancy, yes couples hook up immediately and yet, they’re isolated from Port Charles society.
No one’s stories link up to one another anymore.
Hopefully related to someone on canvas…Nik will probably have a long lost daughter or God help us if its Franco…best if she is Scotts daughter!!!
“i” hope it’s Serena Baldwin
Scotty Baldwin has been so funny lately… this would only add to his layer
I wouldn’t mind Serena. The actress who played her is just as beautiful still & I don’t know why they wouldn’t just cast her if available, but if they couldn’t get her I’d have to vote for the actress who played young Patricia Spencer on the April 1 Fluke/Luke reveal show. She was soooooooo good.
I love Scotty. He is comical, you’re right….sardonically so!
I think it will be Lila Rae Q? If its Brooklyn I would hire Victoria Justice. Maybe look at a former young soap star who is out of work? No Kardashians PLEASE!
I don’t being rude to ask u.. Who is the heck is that? I watched Gh when the evil girl named Jennifer snow, enemy of spencer ..who played the part for her? I never seen her in the past, I just came back to 2005 when Jason Thompson was introduced debut being dr. Patrick drake
If you are asking who Victoria Justice is? She is a remarkable young actress with a “superlicious ” voice…LOL. that is what my nine-year old niece call it. She is/was on Nickelodeon’ ZOEY101 and VICTORIOUS.
Good Lord, they need to reduce the inventory of actors, not increase it.
Please, there is already an over saturation of characters whom I do not care about.
Get rid of Kiki, Morgan, Nina and Valerie. And while Maura West is a good actress, the writing for Ava and Denise has been deplorable and I wish they’d get rid of her too because I don’t see how they can fix that character.
GH has become the hoarder of all soaps. Someone call in 1 800-Got-Junk?
Could not have said it better myself especially the part not to increase because all the good actors have less storyline! 🙂
Patty..
GH has a revolving cast..
It does not use the same 11 characters year round, as Y&R ..
GH rotates its’ characters.. many have other projects they need to tend to and ABC/GH allows them to have other projects..
The GH rotates stories/screen time..
If GH had a smaller cast there would be no stories because most would be busy LOL
GH needs a larger cast because of their formatting..
Also– Not having most on contract then they can be called when a story for them..
GH is not like the other soaps.. It does not run as the other soaps..
Y&R has the same characters on screen 24/7, not a lot variety there.
ohh my!
Harry, are you having a bad hair day?
I think they should have never brought Laura back and she should be let go, she no longer fits into GH.. and she’s just not all that good..
I’m not having a bad hair day, just telling it like it is 🙂
ok-
there was an actress with the online AMC, she was Todd’s daughter?
She was very good!
I’d like to have her with GH.. yuppers she she was/is powerful ..
SU, are you talking about Dani Manning (Kelley Missal)? I love her. Yes, good idea. Also, Brittany Underwood who played Starr’s best friend, Langston, as Thomas suggested, would be perfect.
Su…On reading your “revolving cast” comment it reminded me of how I see a lot of jobs.
I’m at a stage where opportunities in my major professional life aren’t available anymore. So I’m lucky to have part-time job in a bookstore which keeps the doer in me active, and the social and intellectual stimulated.
As with most other retail jobs, it’s very rare to see full time jobs…just part time. Won’t get into the bottom line reasons. Part of the brave new, bottom-line world…insert alarm bells here.
But getting back to the rotating GH cast comparison with retail, when you have a larger turnover because of part time only, and no guarantee of a “contract” depending on the ratings/economy, you lose a sense of continuity and familiarity between store staff and customers. And there is also a lose of staff commitment to the show, and vice-versa. Maybe that’s part of what some of us are sensing in in our moments of discontent with GH.
O let’s give Sabrina a sister then she can hang out in the apartment with Felix’s sister who went to her room one day and just disappeared—LOL.
There are several characters i wish would enter that same room and disappear: Nina, Franco, Sabrina, Jordan, Nathan, Maxie, Rosalee, TJ and Alexis…hell, dump half the cast!!!…lol
Bingo, Jimh! And don’t forget Val-Chops! Ric and Molly, as well! (Although I can tolerate Maxie and even Nathan….he is after all, Dr. O’s son!!!! LOL….)
Hope it’s a recast for KiKi
Yeah, mike. That is the best suggestion, yet! I wish !!!!!
I’m hoping when Tony/Luke leaves there will be some sanity about who and how many come and go. But GH definitely doesn’t need to add ANY newbies right now. First they had some great actors come on for whom they are writing lame stories. Franco/Roger and Nina/ Michelle come to mind. Then they bring on others with great fanfare, and just as quickly they are gone…Rebecca/Hayden. And then there are the cameo appearances. Fun once in a while, but they don’t add long term…just gimmicks. And as far as the teen+ actors they already have, wouldn’t it be great if they wrote story lines for them where they did more than nothing. They might even surprise some critics if they had something to work with.
Thank you for your great comment, I could not agree more! Looking forward to reading more of your opinions. I am a big fan of GH and I will be watching no matter how the stories are played out 🙂
Patty…Oops! I sent my reply to Laurie that was intended for you. I wanted to thank you back. Also wanted to add Michael Easton/Silas to list of actors who have been under used since coming onto GH from OLTL.
Chloe Lanier-the actress who played young Pat Spencer on the 52nd Anniversary show, April 1st. She was fantastic!
Thanks Laurie. Add Micael Easton/Silas to the list of under utilized actors since coming over from OLTL. And like you, I’m a big GH fan and will keep watching.
I’m leaning at this casting call could be for aging Joss(Jax & Carly’s daughter)!
I think you’re right
I think the role will be for Scot’s daughter Serena.
I imagine that the new young female is being cast as a possible love interest for the character of Dylan. Chrishell Stauss might be a good fit, and certainly would be a good addition to Port Charles.
Madonna’s daughter. THat could be cool and interesting…
MELISSA ARCHER NEEDS TO COME TO GH AS CLAUDETTE ASAP

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
